The UNSC Timelane is a frigate that has been sent on a mission to find out what this new planet right next to Covenant territory has and if it can be used. But what they don't expect is Equestria begging for help needing their help, Demon Skull squad is on the case.
This is a Halo/MLP crossover, I do not own ether Halo nor mlp, Demon Skulls are my own squad, sorry if they are someone else's. Anyway hope you enjoy the story and have a great day/night.
The ship was in slipspace, most of the crew were in their cryo pods, except for the skeleton crew, and O.D.S.T. squad Demon Skulls.
The Demon Skulls were in the barracks playing a game of poker, there were 6 of them in total.
The first member is Baker, he's white, 5 foot 8, 25 years old with green eyes, and he's the team tech. His loadout is one smg, and a magnum.
Next we have Macy, she's Asian, 5 foot 1, 23 years old with brown eyes, and she is the team's heavy weapons specialist. Her loadout is a SAW with two magnums as her backup weapons.
The quiet one of the squad is Yori, he's Mexican, 5 foot 11, 32 years old with brown eyes. and he's the team's elite sniper. His loadout is a sniper rifle, and a magnum at his side.
Here we have the one guy the team could live without, his name is Trevor, but they call him Trev for short. He's white, 5 foot 5, 23 years old with brown eyes, and he's the team demolitions expert. His weapon of choice is a rocket launcher with an smg backup.
The second to last member is Helen, she's black, exactly 6 feet tall, 22 years old with green eyes, and she's the close combat specialist. Her loadout is a shotgun with an assault riffle to finish them off with.
Finally we have the squad's fiercest and strongest member Mord. He's white, 6 foot 2, 29 years old with one blue eye, the right a purely mechanical eye, and he's the commander of the squad. His loadout is a DMR and SAW backup, he also has an energy sword, normally that wouldn't be allowed, but his grandfather was a Rear Admiral, who allowed it.
Macy had a fullhouse and was about to go all in, that was until the captain announced something on the speakers throughout the ship, "Attention all crew members, we're exiting slipspace in 30 minutes, get your asses in gear and report to your battle stations asap!"
Yori said, "Aw crap, now we have to get up."
"You heard the captain, gear up and move out," said Mord.
"But sir-" Trev was cut off by Mord saying.
"That was an order soldier."
He replied, "yes sir."
In less than 10 minutes the entire squad was fully geared up and ready to kick some ass, they were walking towards the drop pod bay.
Baker asked them, "Hey guys, I have some news concerning my wife Asa."
"What happened?" Asked Helen.
"Well, she's pregnant! I'm gonna be a dad guys!"
The squad congratulated him, "Congrats of fatherhood soldier, I know you'll be a good one." Said Mord.
"Thanks man, I'm so happy."
"Helen replied, "You'll feel even better after we kill a bunch of covies."
"Ya, ya sure, it'll be great." They didn't pay any mind of his timidness on fighting, except for Mord.
When they got to the drop pod bay they lined up for the briefing. "Demons! We're gonna be the first ones down on a newly discovered planet with signs of primitive life, upon further investigating the beings are tiny 3 to 4 foot horses. You all heard me, horses, we've had weirder. We don't know whether or not these ponies are working with the Covenant, but none of you will fire upon them, unless fired upon, got it?"
"Sir yes sir!" They all shouted.
"Now, the exact area we will land is a city made out of solid crystals, don't ask. We'll be near the center of the city and will move into the castle, we'll capture the castle and reinforcements will come down, while they're coming down we'll defend the castle underbelly, further orders will be given after the troops land. should be easy, we cannot fail this mission. There is no abort, there is only succeed, or die trying, got it?"
"Sir yes sir!" They all shouted with pride, bravery, and a twinge of fear.
"Dismissed!" Shouted Mord. They walked over to their pods, but right before Baker stepped foot in the pod Mord grabbed his shoulder.
"Yes sir?"
"Baker, you have permission to speak freely, I know something's up, I can hear it in your voice."
He replied, "Mord, what if I don't come back, I'll leave my daughter without a dad, and I won't be there to see her grow up. I'm scared sir, I'm truly scared."
Mord took off his helmet and told him. "Soldier, I know you very well, I basically trained you, you're gonna be fine. You won't leave them, I will not allow that. Also you have a job to do, keep your mind sharp and you'll be back in one piece."
"Thanks sir, that helps."
"Glad to help, now let's go and kick some ass, shall we?"
"Yes sir!" Baker shouted cheerfully, he walked into his pod and the pod sealed. Mord walked over to his and stared at it for a few moments as he thought.
"Here we go again, please don't let me die before I land." He walked into the pod and it sealed up.
The captain said over the radio, "All O.D.S.T's punch out, may god bless you all." All the pods started to drop from the ship and entered the quiet space.
Helen shouted, "I love this part! Whoo!" Mord turned off his radio and just looked out, in front of his wasn't a giant super carrier, nor a forerunner ship, but plain empty space.
He took a deep breath and savored the quiet, until his pod entered the atmosphere. A couple plasma beams passed right in front of him making him jump a bit, he heard his shoot pop and a massive jerk before he landed.
Luckily he landed right on target, in front of his pod was two grunts and a jackal, the jackal slowly crept towards the pod thinking the troop died upon impact. That is until the door opened crushing the jackal, Mord leapt out and sprayed his SAW all around him killing the grunts.
The grunts let out a very satisfying death gurgle, Mord smiled underneath his helmet. He turned on his radio and asked, "Demons report!"
"Right on target sir!" Said Baker.
"I made it! On my way to the castle!" Said Trevor.
"I'm killing so many of them, this is living, making headway to the castle sir!" Said Helen.
"Jeez, I thought these guys would give me some trouble, oh well!" Said Macy.
"I landed on top of the castle, and right now I'm facing a very pink unicorn pegasus hybrid, it's not making any sudden movements, will keep you posted." Said Yori.
"Stay tight and don't fire unless you're attacked."
"Yes sir!" Mord looked behind him and saw three shadows, they looked like elites so Mord ran to cover.
Just as he suspected three elites ran over to the pod, they were examining it, not realizing that someone was still there.
Mord jumped from a roof and fired his SAW at the closest one, it cooked the elite's shields and shot him many times in the chest, Mord landed on the elite's body crushing the head. The other two fired their storm riffles at Mord, but he rolled away and threw a grenade at the elites.
They didn't even notice the grenade, until POW! Their shields flared and they flew away, they were dead before they hit the ground. he looked around at his work, all he could say was, "I love the smell of war in the morning."
After charging through the straight street killing several members of the Covenant, he finally reached the castle. He jumped onto a nearby roof to examine the battlefield.
He looked towards the underbelly of the castle and saw the ponies fighting the Covenant behind makeshift barriers that were desks, tables, more crystals. He looked a bit closer at a couple of the ponies and saw a couple made out of solid crystal. "How is that possible? That's just weird and I'll have to ask them that later, for now I- where's my squad?"
He looked to the side and saw each of them-except Yori- on the rooftops around him, "Demons, are you seeing this?"
"Yes sir, we are." Said Macy.
"Well, we gotta tell the captain that these ponies are fighting against the Covenant, not for them."
Baker asked, "So how are we gonna attack?"
"Alright, Macy, Baker, you two go the the right and start helping the ponies there, Trev, go to the left, kill them all."
"He yelled out, "Yes sir!"
"Quiet or we'll be dead. Now I'll move up the front here and talk to the commanding officer here. Got it?"
"Yes sir." They all said.
"Move out." Each member quietly moved to the designated positions.
After a few seconds Mord asked, "Everyone ready?"
"Ready!" Shouted them all.
"ATTACK!" Mord ran out of cover to see two hunters charging up their fuelrod canons. He yelled out, "Hey assholes!"
They turned around, "Mess with someone you two can handle." They charged up their canons again as Mord ran towards them, the left one fired a green blast, but Mord Jumped over it, the second one fired it's round. but Mord slid under that one. He jumped on the shield of the left hunter and used it to jump to the right hunter's back.
He armed a grenade and shoved it right in it's neck, the hunter jerked for a second as Mord jumped to the left one, he dove to the back and heard the first one blow up, the current hunter was wiping off the guts ignoring the grenade Mord shoved in there. He jumped down and started to charge at the pony barricade.
He shouted, "Make way!" They did so and Mord dove behind the small wall and waited for a second, "Boom!" he saw some orange blood splash over the barricade, he got up and examined his kills. All that were left of the hunters was a leg, and an arm, along with a orange colored street.
The ponies were staring in shock, never have they seen anypony fight like that. Mord asked, "Who is your commanding officer?" They all pointed towards the guard right next to him.
The guard was wearing purple armor, had bright white fur, and a blue mane, "What is your name and rank."
He sputtered out, "S-S-Shining-g Ar-r-r-r-mor, Capt-tain of the r-royal guard."
"What is this place?"
"The Crystal empire."
"Really? Well that is the dumbest name I've ever heard for a place. Anyway, we've come to help you all in your time of need. Our troops are descending as we speak. I take it the castle is still under your control?"
"Yes it is, now who are you?"
"I'm Sargent grade three Mord, commander of the O.D.S.T. squad, Demon Skulls."
"O.D.S.T.?"
"Never mind, we'll help reinforce this castle and drive the Covenant out of here. All we need out of you is full cooperation. Got it?"
"I do, but where are these troops coming from?"
He pointed up, All the guards stared at the giant metal ships flying towards the castle, there were about 30 or so pelicans dodging orbital fire.
"Those are our ships." The first four landed in the castle courtyard, all the guards were still staring with their jaws dropped. The door behind the pelicans opened and about 30 troops charged out ready to fight.
This went on for a few minutes until all the pelicans were empty, they flew off and started to fire upon the Covenant ships in the area.
Mord was a little surprised at the sheer number of troops. There were now about 200 of them, they charged out of the castle and started killing the Covenant in the immediate area.
The overall battle lasted a good two hours, the Covenant tried hard to fight back, but the marines simply out numbered, and outgunned them three to one.
After the initial battle the U.N.S.C. built a quick base in the courtyard of the castle, it wasn't much, but it was super packed with soldiers, so all in all, it was very secured.
Shining Armor and Mord were on their way to the bar, after that battle they both needed a couple of drinks. Mord asked Shining Armor.
"I gotta ask, how many wars have you ponies fought? Because that fighting was pretty shit in my professional opinion."
"It's not shit!" Objected Shining Armor.
"Come on, you were close to dying to a grunt, that's kinda sad."
"How's that sad?"
"I've seen a six year old kill a grunt, with her bare hands."
"Wait really?"
"Ya, now please answer my question."
"Alright, we ponies actually haven't been in a war for over a thousand years."
"Wow, I'm impressed, wish we could have that kind of peace."
"Well, how long have you humans been in war with the Covenant."
"Heh, 30 years or so." Shining Armor halted.
"30 years?!"
"That's right."
"One planet?"
"Oh no, over 800 worlds much like this one, ya we figure the civilian loses alone are about 60 billion or so."
"Okay, you're blowing my mind here, 60 billion! Well how many planets have you lost?"
"Over 500 or so."
"Oh sweet Celestia, five hundred?! You humans have gone through some serious stuff haven't you?"
"Oh we have, but enough about all of that war stuff, we're at the bar, time to drink the night away."
"Well, I guess the first round's on me." Said Shining Armor.
"Nice!"
Shortly after about 2 rounds or so Shining Armor and Mord have a light buzz going, but not enough to render them drunk.
Shining asked, "So after all that war stuff I wanna ask you something a bit personal."
"What?" Replied Mord.
"Do you have a special somepony back on your planet?"
"Ha, no I don't. I've never gone steady with a girl before, although I got drunk after prom night and woke up next to two fat chicks, so I technically had sex. I want to do it again, hopefully sober this time, with a more steady girl I might have a relationship with. But for now I'll stick to fighting the Covenant and getting drunk every other night."
"Interesting, well after this is all done I'd be happy to help you find a steady mare."
"Whoo now, I'm not sure if I should fuck a mare, wouldn't it be wrong, I man interspecies beastiality."
"Well, technically you're an alien, and to you, we're aliens, so it's just interspecies, but no beastiality.
You could get away with that, also, at the end of battles or stressful bouts mares love to.... give themselves away, as a way of thanking the pony, or human in this case, who helped them. It's quick pussy, it's how I managed to get Cadence. I helped her during a test, and we, we started to date the day after."
Mord was a bit impressed, "Interesting, I've been in space in basically a no jerk off zone for 3 months or so, so I might just try that if I can, we'll just have to see."
They finished their glasses of beer and decided to get some sleep, tomorrow was gonna be a long day.
The next day:
Mord slowly opened his eyes, he's used to a huge hangover, but today he woke up just fine, he was a bit surprised, he got over it in ten seconds.
He took a shower, drank his pot of coffee, and ate a mint before heading out to the pelican.
At the pelican was Shining Armor and the rest of his squad, Helen asked.
"This question kept me up all night, how does a drunk commander like ours, keeps his breath fresh, and minty. How?"
They all just shrugged, Mord walked up to the pelican.
"Alright team, let's get a move on, I'll debrief you all on the way, let's get moving."
They obeyed and sat themselves down in the pelican, followed by Shining Armor. "Hey Shining. Why are you getting on? You're not a marine, and ponies don't need to be in these battles. you're soft, you have no weapon, and that purple armor begs for a jackal to snipe you, so why?"
"Because my sister's in there, I love her and I need to see her again, I have to see if she's alright. And nothing you can say will stop me, plus I have a weapon, I brought what you all call a fuel rod canon."
All Mord could say was, "Alright, I wasn't going to remove you, I was just curious. And I kinda like the backbone, it shows guts, but lose the attitude or I'll personally throw you out of the pelican."
Mord walked to the front of the pelican and sat down, the door closed and it took off.
About 10 minutes into the flight Mord got up, the lights dimmed, and a projection of Ponyville was shown.
"Alright, our objective is to destroy the AA batteries, AA-1 is located next to a jungle, while AA-2 is facing what you ponies call Canterlot. Baker, Macy, Trev, and Yori you all will take out AA-2, Shining, Helen, you two are with me, we'll take out AA-1.
After both are destroyed we'll meet up at what looks like a another crystal castle. Why are there so many god damn crystal castles everywhere?"
Shining Armor replied, "I don't know."
"Sigh, alright, does everyone understand?"
"Sir yes sir!" His squad shouted.
"I do." Replied Shining Armor, the hologram disappeared and the lights brightened up, Mord walked back to his seat and sat down.
The pilot shouted to them, "Eta 3 minutes, so don't get comfy."
They were all just sitting there, messing around with various shit, no talking, no chants, nothing cool. Shining Armor got bored, so he asked them.
"Okay I've been curious for awhile now, and I just have to ask, why did all of you join?"
Macy was the first one to talk, "I joined because I've wanted to be a soldier since I was a little girl, my parents are high ranking officers so I naturally joined, and now I love it more than anything."
Yori was next, "I joined because I feel like I need to do something to help my people, also this is the only job where you can kill people legally."
Baker said, "I joined to protect my family, I lost my father in a battle and I won't let that happen again, not on my watch."
"Trev replied, "Well, I just joined because I barely passed high school and my highest calling was a management position at a super market chain. So I guess I joined because I had no other choice."
Helen replied with, "I joined so I could get revenge for my older sister, she joined the marines, but she died, I vowed to kill every elite in her memory."
Mord was silent, "Mord, why'd you join?" Asked Shining Armor.
He sighed, "Well, I joined because I witnessed my entire family being killed by the Covenant, my planet was destroyed, my eye was sliced out, and I lost my entire life. I had to kill five elites just so I could get off of that planet alive. That day Mordimer died, and Mord was born. Now please don't ask me again or I will slap you."
The pilot shouted, "Covenant scarab is pounding us hard, I'll try to avoid it the best I can!" The pelican made sharp turns, making everyone on board hold on to their seats for dear life.
This went on for about 30 seconds, until the pilot shouted, "There's too much plasma! I don't know how long I can't keep avoiding it!" Just as he finishes the entire left wing of the pelican was shot off. It tilted to the left and was falling down at a very fast rate.
The pilot shouted, "Brace yourselves for a rough landing!" The pelican crashed down inside Ponyville, it crashed in Ponyville Square, right in front of the main building.
The squad slowly made their way out of the pelican, all of them were slightly dazed, but nothing too great. But Shining Armor was crawling out with some blood running down his right cheek.
"What just happened?! Did we crash?" Asked Shining Armor.
"Oh great, he's a bit out of it, Baker! Help him up and get him to fighting status, Macy, check the pilot, if he's alive, that's another gun."
They nodded and got to work, "The rest of you, we need to pack anything we can get, we move in 2 minutes!"
"Yes sir!" The rest of them shouted.
Baker knelt down in front of Shining Armor and asked, "You alright?"
"Ya, ya I think I'm fine, but, what now?"
"We're gonna complete the mission, we leave in as soon as Macy checks the pilot."
"Wait, we're still doing it, aren't we getting out of here?"
"Hell no, we're O.D.S.T.'s, we've been in far worse and we've completed the missions, like our motto, 'We get any mission done no matter the sacrifice.'"
"That's-" Shining was cut off by Macy coming back and saying, "The pilot's dead, half of him is in the seat, the other is over there, over there, and up there someplace."
Mord replied, "You all heard her, he's dead, now let's get a move on before those phantoms find out we're still alive. It's amazing how long it's been and we haven't had one grunt come over. Maybe this planet's lucky. Demons! Activate camo and move out, Helen take point."
"Yes sir." She replied, they all pushed a button on their chest plates and they went invisible, Shining Armor was surprised.
"Sweet Celestia,"
Mord said, "Alright, Helen and Trev, take the first AA battery, Macy, Yori, take out the second one. Baker, Shining, and I will take out that scarab, if we don't, our reinforcements will be less than half of what we need to win."
The squad said in unison, "Sir yes sir!"
"Will do Mord." Said Shining Armor.
"Move out!" Shouted Mord, they separated into the three teams.
Mord, Shining Armor, and Baker were sneaking their way through the Covenant with great haste. But once they got to the Scarab they ducked behind a bunch of crates and decloaked.
"Mord, what's the plan?" Asked Shining Armor.
"Alright, Shining I need you you to stay here for the moment, Baker and I will make our way to the back of the scarab, once you hear gunfire you light up any Covenant you see with that canon, provide cover fire. Got it?"
Shining Armor nodded, Mord and Baker turned the cloak back on and walked towards the scarab while Shining Armor waited patiently.
Once the two got to the back of the Scarab Baker hopped up on the back and he pulled Mord up, luckily the guard just passed the area so they were unseen.
Baker readied his smg and Mord shouldered his SAW. There were two grunts and a jackal chatting, behind a grunt was a plasma cannon, Mord uncloaked and sprayed bullets in the general direction of the enemies.
Each grunt got about 7 bullets in their chest, and the jackal was shot in the head, it fell over the side of the scarab. The grunts fell to the floor dead.
Mord Moved up as Baker slung his smg and he picked up the plasma cannon and headed to the other side. Mord turned a corner and came face to face with an elite minor, it growled, but it was cut off by Mord emptying the rest of his ammo in the elite. he heard two more running down towards him.
So naturally he pulled out two frag grenades and threw them in the path of the elites. He ran to the back corner and counted. "3, 2, 1."
Boom!
He looked back to see the two elites dead, one was off the scarab and the other was smeared all over the side of it.
Mord ran to the very back of the Scarab and grabbed a couple of plasma grenades from the dead bodies, He walked right up to the core and asked.
"Baker, are you at minimum safe distance?"
Baker replied, "I am, but we're getting pounded over here! Hurry up Mord, the rest of the squad is ready to attack."
Mord activated both of the plasma grenades and he threw them at the main core, he jumped off the scarab and ran as fast as he could to a small brick wall, he jumped behind the wall and he heard the scarab go down.
Mord looked back and saw a blown up scarab, bits and pieces were all around the area, he looked back to see Shining Armor and Baker fending off the Covenant. Mord looked slightly up and saw two explosions, both right at the AA batteries.
"AA battery 1 down." Said Helen.
"AA battery 2 down!" Shouted Macy.
Mord replied, "AA batteries and scarab down, send in the reinforcements, captain."
The captain replied, "They're on their way, 10 minutes tops, marking the drop off location to all of your HUDs."
"Yes sir, thank you sir." Mord grabbed his SAW and ran over to assist Baker and Shining Armor. He fired about a fourth of the barrel into an elite making all the grunts around him run around, Baker and Shining Armor quickly picked the grunts off.
"What took you so long?" Asked Baker.
"I was simply admiring my work."
"Come on Mord, we got to group up with the rest of the squad." They started to walk away, until Mord heard a very muffled female voice call out.
"Help, please anypony, help!" Mord stopped making Backer and Shining stop.
"What's wrong?" Asked Shining.
"I heard a voice from over there." He walked over to a crate right next to him, he heard a whole bunch of voices, all muffled, and very scared,
"I think I know where all the ponies went." Mord busted the door lock making it open.
It was all silent in there for a moment, that is until somepony started to walk into the sunlight. It was a yellow pegasus wearing a blue tracksuit, she had partly melted goggles and her tracksuit was pretty ripped up from fighting.
Mord said, "I'm U.N.S.C Commander Mord of ODST squad Demon Skulls, and were here to free ponies and kill the Covenant for all they've done, and you are?"
She replied, "I'm Captain Spitfire of the Wonderbolts, and we need a miracle." They looked over head to see a couple pelicans fly over them, "What are those?" Asked Spitfire.
Mord replied, "They're ours, I'll explain after we get you all out of here."
Suddenly three elite Zealots uncloaked in a slender hallway of prison cells, all of them had energy swords at the ready, "Shining, Baker, get the ponies out," he dropped his gun and pulled out his energy sword, "I got this."
They nodded as all of the ponies followed Shining Armor and Baker out of there, the Zealots being cocky just stared Mord down.
Mord got into a fighting position and he said in Shangueli, "Come over bitches, I'm waiting."
The far left one got angry with him speaking in the holy language, so it charged Mord, he activated a hologram as the elite sliced the hologram.
The elite looked back just in time to see Mord plunging a sword into his back, the elite fell to the ground dead and Mord pulled the energy sword out.
The far right one cloaked and the middle elite charged right at Mord, Mord smirked under his helmet and he simply threw the energy sword to his left and it hit the other elite right in the heart, Mord took out his knife and charged the final elite.
As they got close Mord jumped up in the air, barely missing the sword swing, he landed behind the elite and stabbed the elite in the neck, Mord took a step away as the elite grabbed the knife trying to pull it out, it fell on it's knees, still trying to pull it out. After a couple seconds it fell over dead.
Mord pulled the knife out of the elite's throat and the energy sword out of the other one. Mord shouldered his SAW and pressed on.
Sadly there was only a couple grunts and one elite who was taking a piss, now of course he let the elite finish, but right after, it got a bullet to the head.
Once he got to the drop zone he saw a whole bunch of marines pushing in, the hornets wrecking all the Covenant air support. There in the drop zone were all the ponies being cared for, medics were checking them, making sure they were alright, He saw his squad waving at him.
He walked up to them, Macy asked, "So you scored 3 more? Not bad, I could have done better."
Mord replied, "Macy this isn't the time, we're working here, but no, you couldn't."
Baker added on, "Sir, the battle's almost over, the marines are pushing in and we're actually winning, we can rest for a second."
"Alright, but stay ready." There was a small silence, until Mord said, "How about we assist the marines, get some target practice in, then head to the nearest bar and drink until Macy blacksout?"
They were all in agreement, they ran off and had a blast killing the remaining Covenant.
After the battle of Ponyville, the Demon Skulls and Shining Armor went to the last bar that was still standing, they were sitting in a booth in the corner, the only other beings in the bar was the staff, and a couple of scattered marines that were off duty.
They're all buzzed, but not drunk, yet. Baker asked everyone, "Do you all wanna hear how many ponies we saved? And the number will be bigger than you'd think."
Macy replied, "one million!" They all just stared at her, "What? I gave it a guess."
"Aw, now the actual number will seem to be small compared to that, thanks Macy."
"Hey don't get snippy at me Baker, I'll kick your ass back to the lunar belt."
Mord stepped in the argument by saying, "Macy drop it, Baker, tell us the number."
He replied, "5000, 5000 ponies, that's the actual number."
Shining Armor quickly added on, "That also includes my sister and her friends."
"Wait, that prison couldn't hold 5000 ponies, was there something else we liberated?"
Baker replied, "Well, turns out that most of the crates had two stacks of ponies in each, and they're 3 to 4 feet tall compared to us. But most of the fleeing covies ran to Canterlot, the city with the corvette parked on top."
They all were saying, "Oh ya, ya, ya, ya, we know that place."
"And it's our next deployment, the final battle of the planet, and I think we should stay reasonably sober tonight."
Macy replied, "Screw that, barkeep! 7 rounds of beer, now what will the rest of you have?"
Baker leaned over to Shining and whispered, "She drinks like that all the time, so don't be surprised."
Mord shouted, "6 more over here! Trev, go get them, and if they drop, you're gonna pay for them."
"How?" He asked with a twinge of fear.
"With cash, dummy." He looked at Mord with a bit of anger and relief, he left to get the 11 beers, and to most likely pay for them.
Baker said, "Hold on, I'm getting a message, be right back." He got up and put his helmet on.
Helen asked, "So, I take it Miss Cadence is staying at the Crystal Empire to take care of your kid?"
Shining replied, "Not just that, she also has to organize all the ponies who've been evacuated over there, so she's got her work cut out for her. She's tough and I know she can take it."
"Good, hey Mord, is that one of the ponies you were telling me about?" Helen said.
They looked over to the far back of the bar, it was Spitfire. "Oh ya, that's miss Spitfire Captain of the Wonderbolts, a track team basically, but what about it?" Asked Mord
Shining Armor told him, "You should go over there and invite her over here."
"Well, first off no, and second, I bet she has plans."
Helen looks back over, "And those 4 shot glasses tell me she's not expecting anybody to come."
Trev came back, somehow holding 11 beers with two hands, Macy snatched one up and handed it to Mord, "Drink the liquid courage and talk to her, you dummy."
He drank the contents and stood up, he told her, "I will, but if you call me a dummy one more time, I'll fight you like I did to Tom Hutch in high school."
He walked away just as Baker sat back down, he asked, "So, what'd I miss?"
Mord sat on the stood right next to her and said, "Excuse me Captain, do you have a minute?"
She looked over to him and stared for a second before asking him, "Hey, aren't you the human who saved me?"
"Yes I am, and I wanna ask, do you want to sit over at my table, or are you waiting for someone?"
"I wish I was waiting on somepony, but my squad is working on evacuation, so I'd love to sit with you all."
She sat down at the table and started talking.
This continued for 3 hours or so, until Mord's squad and Shining Armor were really drunk and decided to sleep it off, then throw up, not necessary in that order leaving Mord and Spitfire to themselves.
Neither of them were that drunk, each of them have only had about 3 beers, Mord asked her, "So, you're team are the basic air force?"
She replied, "Well, ya, Equestria has never had a war, well, none like the one we're in."
"I hear ya, I mean, this is the second war we've been in with the Covenant."
"Second?!"
"Ya, the first war took 30 or so years to finish, I was born right in the heat of battle, lost my family a couple years later, grew up living with my grandparents, luckily both of them were veterans and they helped push me to become a soldier, so I train and trained, and I enlisted. Went through basic training, and fought my first battle, lost my eye, as you can see."
She stares at the robotic eye for a moment and says, "Wow, so I take that it hurt a whole lot."
"Oh ya, the eye is actually the biggest nerve in the human body, so that truly hurt, but then I joined the ODST's and after awhile, I got my own squad.
So in the end, it all worked out." He finishes his beer and slams it onto the table, "Two more over here! Please."
"And I thought this whole thing was the most messed up thing ever, but are all of you humans this sad? Lost so much?"
"Maybe not all of us, but with the burning of over 500 planets along with most of the people on them, I'd have to say at least 1 person has lost someone close."
"Out of?"
"No out of, every person has at least 1 person of whom they lost, this war has been fought for to long, all humanity wants is for this war to end, so we can recover, start families, and regain what the Covenant took from us."
"I wish there was more we could do, but all we can do is help free this place, there are still so many places here you'd really like."
"Such as?"
"Cloudsdale, Los Pegasus, or training up the royal guards, because they were less than useless, even when it came down to beings on my planet."
"I'll get Helen on it, she has that commanding and angry mother voice that can make even me stand at attention, well, sometimes."
"Before this gets any further I just wanna thank you, for saving my life, I was for sure I was gonna die in there. And I'd like to thank you."
"Well, no problem, it was nothing. I'd do it again if I need to."
"I don't mean with words, I mean something more.... close." She slid over next to him and slid her hoof onto his thigh.
He realized what the hell she was talking about, he thought, "Wait, she is a pony, it would be bestiality! Though, they never said I couldn't be with aliens, she's technically one, heh I'll go for it, besides, she does look hot for a pony."
He asked, "So, what did you have in mind?"
She smirked and kissed him.
The next morning:
Mord slowly woke up in his bunk, he said, "Ulgh, I need to drink les." he looked over and saw Spitfire, "Oh, then I guess it wasn't a dream after all. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a really bad thing."
She woke up and replied, "Morning good looking."
He started to blush, "Heh, you're blushing, that's cute. I had a great night and I gotta say that tongue was amazing, you knew exactly where to lick."
He replied, "And I need to say that was the best night of my life, you felt, amazing! But sadly I need to get to the pelican, we're departing at 10 hundred hours."
She picked up a small clock and said, "It's only 7, you got time."
"Oh, well, I could go for a cup of coffee, wanna join me?"
"What makes you think we're done here, you have 3 hours, so let's make the most of it."
He looked down at her lower region and replied, "No arguments here."
Spitfire and Mord were walking down another long hallway, Mord said.
"So, I had an amazing time with you, and maybe after your planet's freed, we could to a nice restaurant or see a movie?"
She replied, "I'd love that, just make sure you come back. Promise me you'll come back."
"I promise, I've done over 50 missions, I think I'll live." She seemed satisfied with that answer.
As they reached the end of the hallway they could see a pelican with Mord's Demon Skulls waiting for him. Baker looked at Mord and waved.
"Sir, what took you so long? We need to be up in the air in a couple minutes."
Spitfire replied, "He was busy with other things."
Macy also asked, "With what? Wait, did he throw up on you, because he's done that so many ti-" Mord covered her mouth and said.
"What are you talking about Macy? I've never thrown up on anybody." Spitfire rolled her eyes and flew up to eye level, she flew over and kissed Mord on the lips.
"I'll be waiting, and ready when you come back." She turned around and flew away. Mord just stared at her from below, he said.
"Yep, I got some of that, and a lot of it this morning." He walked into the pelican with a huge grin on his face. His squad silently followed him, questioning their reality.
The pelican took off and started to make it's way to Canterlot. The interior was very dark with only a couple lights that made their armor shimmer in the darkness, Mord stood up and activated a holo-screen and started to debrief them.
"Alright team, in short, the Covenant have almost complete control of Canterlot, but there is a small frontline that Shining Armor's leading. We'll be landing in the small battlefront and we'll assist Shining Armor's men to clear a path to the castle, Yori, you stay with Shining Armor's troops, make sure there are as few deaths as possible."
"Got it sir." He replied.
"The rest of you will be following me down a series of alleyways to the cargo beam, we'll punch through their defenses and float all the way to the corvette, as it makes it's way to the Covenant super cruiser."
Macy raised her hand, "Yes Macy?"
She replied, "Sir, this's a dumb question, but how are we gonna blow up that cruiser, I don't see a megaton bomb anywhere."
"If you're talking about Spartan 052, then yes, I have a nuclear bomb that I'll attach it to my armor as soon as we land, I'll plant it on the bridge and we'll haul ass to the pelican that'll be waiting in the flight deck. Is that clear?"
They all replied, "Sir yes sir!"
"Alright, 1 minute til drop, check your gear gentlemen, this'll be one of the biggest battles we'll ever fight. We will go land and we will kill every last elite, grunt, and even every jackal that stepped foot on this beautiful planet, who's with me?"
"We are sir!" They all shouted.
The pelican had to use some evasive maneuvers to avoid the plasma, but it landed right behind a legion of marines with Shining Armor standing right in front of the pelican, the back opened and they ran out ready to fight, Mord asked, "Hey Shining Armor, how's the frontline doing?"
He replied, "We're losing ground by the minute, and we could use some assistance."
Mord thought for a second and replied, "Alright, Yori, Helen, and Macy, assist these ponies, Baker, Trev, you two are with me, Shining, are you coming with us, or are you gonna stay and fight on the front?"
"I'll come with you, the ponies on that ship will need to see a royal guard before trusting you."
"Understood." Said Mord.
The squad replied, "Yes sir!"
"By the way Shining, I'm actually carrying a mini nuclear bomb on my back, so if I get hit, say bye bye to everything on Equestria."
With a bit of hesitation Shining took point and headed to the corvette.
They were part way to the beam when the team saw a couple jackals running on the roofs, Baker said, "That's never good, Shining, keep ready."
He nodded, they moved up a little, but suddenly they were ambushed by two hunters, one was in front of them, the other was behind them, the hunters roared and fired their canons, Mord shouted, "Duck!"
They did so and the plasma balls went right over them, in fact the balls hit the hunters, which pissed them off to no end. Trev aimed his rocket launcher at the hunter behind them and fired two rockets at it, it's arm was blown clear off killing the hunter.
Mord and Baker grabbed their grenades and threw a total of 4 grenades at the last hunter, it looked up at them right before the grenades blew up, spreading the hunter all over the alleyway.
Shining Armor looked like he was gonna throw up, Trev asked, "Hey, sir, you okay?"
Shining Armor replied, "I'm fine, I just need to get used to this kind of fighting."
They kept going. Once they reached the end of the alleyway, there was the base for the beam.
It was guarded by 4 elite zealots, Mord said, "I hate zealots, I truly hate them with a burning passion. Alright squad, Trev, you wait here until you see Baker and me make our move, Baker, we're gonna sneak up behind the side guards, and Shining, I need you to teleport behind the farthest elite and blast it to oblivion, got it?"
They nodded, "Alright, let's move." Mord and Baker turned invisible and made their way behind the side zealots, Shining Armor's horn glowed, ready to teleport, and Trev had his launcher ready.
Mord and Baker made their move, they went up behind the zealots and slashed their throats, Trev got up and fired two rockets into the front zealot, he blew up into many pieces, and just as the farthest zealot was about to kill Trev, Shining Armor teleported behind him and blew that one to oblivion.
The team checked their corners and decided to enter the beam, but before they did, Mord asked, "You all ready to save this planet?"
They nodded, "Good." They each walked into the beam and were flown up into the corvette.
As they were riding up the beam, they heard what sounded like a cannon charging up, Trev looked up and saw the main gun on the corvette charging up, and it was aimed right at the Timelane.
He shouted, "Hey Mord, warn the Timelane now, or there won't be a way out!"
"This is Commander Mord to Timelane, captain, do you read me?"
"I read you soldier, I'm a bit busy up here."
"The corvette is charging its cannon and aiming right at you, get away now!"
"Oh crap, turn the ship now!" But, the cannon fired 8 beams of plasma that collided with the Timelane, it hit right in the middle of the ship making it rip into two pieces, the backside blew up first throwing the front half towards the corvette.
The team made it up to the ship just as the front half of the Timelane blew up, destroying the beam, leaving them no way to turn around. Baker said, "Oh shit, oh this is horrible, without the Timelane, we have no evac, and without the beam, we can't abort, what do we do Mord?"
He thought for a moment, Mord replied, "Tell you what, I'll set the bomb to take longer than 10 minutes, and we'll find the vehicle bay, take a phantom, and get the hell out of here before we're blown up, better than nothing."
Shining Armor added, "Normally, that would be insane, this would freak me out into a coma, but right now, your plan makes sense, I think it might work."
Baker nodded, and Trev gave him a thumbs up. "Alright then, it's settled, we'll set the bomb to detonate at a later time, let's go Demons, we don't have long to dilly daddle."
Right as they started moving Shining told them, "Um, there was something I forgot to tell you all."
Mord asked, "Oh crap, what is it?"
"The princesses are up here, the prisons cells shouldn't be far from here, I can feel their magic from here, we free them, and then blow up this ship."
"Fine, but the rest of our beers will be on you, got it?"
Shining nodded, and they walked away.
After a couple of empty hallways, they reached a big door, Mord could tell that it was the prison cell, Baker was hacking the small pad next to the door, "Shining, let's hope you're right, if you aren't, I'll personally throw you off this ship and sell your armor."
"The door is unlocked sir." Said Baker, the door opened and there were a small set of cells that were on the sides, and right in the back, there were 3 brutes playing what appeared to be a Covenant version of poker.
One of them was about to shout, but Trev fired his rockets at them blowing them up, no need for details.
Trev dropped his launcher and grabbed his smg, they looked in the first few cells, but saw nothing, the last two cells had the princesses in them, they looked dirty, beat, starved, and even raped.
They had what looked like shockers attached to their horns, Shining bent down and said, "Princess Celestia, it's alright, they're with me, they're saving our lands, come with me, I'll get you out of here."
They were unable to respond, but when the bars opened they took Shining Armor's hoof and stood up, Mord said, "Trev, you go with Shining to the vehicle bay, get a phantom and wait for us, wait a maximum of 15 minutes, then leave with or without Baker and I, got it?"
"Yes sir." Replied Trev.
Trev had to piggyback Luna because she was so weak, Celestia could walk, they walked out of the prison leaving Mord and Baker there.
Mord and Baker ran out and sneaked all the way to the bridge.
Once they got up there, they stood in front of another big door, "Mord?"
He replied, "Yes Baker?"
"Let's go."
They smirked as the door opened, there in the bridge was 6 elites, 10 grunts, and an elite general. Mord and Baker each threw 2 grenades, killing 3 elites and 6 grunts or so, the elite general cloaked and disappeared.
Baker sprayed his smg at two elites, and when their shields dropped Mord shot them both in the head, Baker had to reload, but Mord fired 3 shots and killed 3 grunts. He hid behind an elite's body and fired 5 more shots into the last elite, it's shields dropped and Baker quickly finished him off. The last grunt took our it's grenades and ran at Mord, he shot the grunt in the head killing it, he dropped to the ground until he heard 2 explosions.
Mord reloaded his DMR and Baker checked the bodies. Once that was done Mord sat at a column and started to activate the bomb, Baker ran over to a computer and hacked most of the files out, and made sure the corvette was heading right for the cruiser.
Mord activated his radio and said, "Trev, are you at the vehicle bay?"
He replied, "I am, got the bomb set?"
"Almost, wait for 10 minutes or so, then leave, got it?"
"Yes sir, so you aren't coming?"
"Oh I am, but make sure those princesses are safe first."
"Understood sir, over and out." The radio was dead and Mord had set the bomb.
"Alright, we have 10 minutes, there was no way to increase the time, you ready over there?"
"Almost, give me a second." Mord bent over to check the bomb one more time, but the elite general silently uncloaked and got right behind Mord, Baker turned around and shouted.
"Mord!"
He looked back just in time for an energy sword shoved into his chest, the elite shoved the sword in him so hard, it got stuck on the column pinning Mord up there.
Baker yelled out, "Mord no!" He fired all of his smg into the elite killing it, he ran over to Mord and said, "Oh my god, Mord, come on, let's just get this sword out and get you to the phantom."
"No! I'll just slow you down, go, leave. Leave me, I'll defend the bomb, I'm a goner Baker, and I probably wouldn't make it even if I got out."
"No, sir, I can't let you die here, you have so much more to do."
"No, I don't, I'm gonna defend this bomb until my dying breath, you go, and you take command of the squad, they need you, and tell Spitfire I'm sorry. Now go, be with your family, and that's an order Baker."
"Sigh, yes sir, it was an honor serving with you."
"The pleasure's all mine, now, run." Baker ran to the door, only to look back one more time, before he ran into the hallway.
He ran and ran, holding back the tears until he got out, he didn't encounter much, just a couple of grunts which he killed with ease.
Once he got to the vehicle bay, he looked and saw a phantom floating there with a whole bunch of Covenant bodies around it, Baker ran into the small beam and floated into the phantom.
Shining Armor was tending to the princesses in the back, Trev looked back from the pilot seat and asked, "So when's Mord getting here?"
"He's not."
Trev was silent for a second before saying, "Understood, let's get the hell out of here." The phantom flew out of the bay and was flying down into the planet's atmosphere, Shining looked at Baker and asked.
"Where's Mord? I wasn't listening, had to help the princesses."
"He's not here."
"What?"
"He was pinned to a column and he gave his life to defend the bomb, 3, 2, 1."
A large explosion erupted behind them shaking the phantom, after a couple moments the phantom stabilized. "Mord's dead, oh sweet Celestia, I, oh pony feathers."
"Ya, but there's no time to morn, we gotta get back to the surface and get to the rest of the skulls."
Once they got down there they found out that Canterlot was secured by the U.N.S.C, they won the battle. Helen, Macy, and Yori were standing in front of the phantom.
The side doors opened and the princesses got out first, then Shining Armor, and finally Trev and Baker.
Helen asked, "So, where's Mord?"
Baker replied, "Mord's KIA, he died up there, he was pinned by an elite right next to the bomb and he died protecting it."
They looked devastated, "Oh, shit." Was all Macy could say.
That evening:
They were in the in the same bar in Ponyville, they sat around the table looking very depressed, there were beer mugs all over the table, and they were abnormally silent. Until Spitfire entered, she had on her captains uniform, she took off her glasses and looked at the table.
She walked over and asked, "So, I take it Mord's getting more beers?"
They all looked at each other, "What?"
Shining Armor sat up and replied, "Mord, he isn't coming."
"What's wrong, is he wounded?"
Baker added, "No, he's dead."
Spitfire stared at him for a moment and asked, "What, he can't be dead, he's just stuck in Canterlot, right?"
Baker handed her a small pda, it had Mord's file, which listed him as KIA. "No, it can't be. He really is dead, isn't he?"
"He is, I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything to save him, he died protecting this planet like so many of the unnamed marines, he made the ultimate sacrifice, and for that, we can never repay him. I just hope he's resting peacefully up there, maybe with his family."
She sat down, her face was covered in tears, "Drink, it'll help, I've lost many friends and family, trust me." She took the mug and drank everything in it.
They sat around and told stories about Mord until every single one of them passed out.
Equestria was safe, humanity had a new ally, but with that came many losses, such as Mord, or the rest of those unnamed soldiers that died on those frontlines.
It's been about 3 weeks since Equestria was liberated from the Covenant onslaught. the ponies rebuilt their homes, the U.N.S.C built bases all around the planet.
The Demon Skulls have been stationed in Ponyville for a couple months, they're pretty bored of staying on Equestria, there's nothing to do.
They were in the Ponyville bar, it kinda became their hangout when off duty. They were sitting in a booth chatting, joking, and drinking, Macy asked.
"So, when's Shining Armor and Spitfire coming?"
Trev replied, "Any minute now." Just as he finished Shining Armor, and Spitfire walked in, they sat down at the table, Shining Armor asked.
"So, how's everypon-ergh, one doing?"
"Fine, I just wish we could get some action around here, or something interesting to happen." Said Helen
Spitfire replied, "Give it some time, in Equestria, there's a giant monster, or world ending crisis about every few weeks or so. Let's just hope it's not the Covenant again."
Shining Armor looked to the door and just stared, his face went pale, he barely breathed, "Oh damn, what's with him?" Asked Trev.
"I don't kn-" Macy looked at the door and stared with her mouth open. "I think I know now."
They all looked over at the door and froze, there, standing clear as day, was Mord. He looked very alive, Mord looked at his team and asked, "So, where's my beer?"
Spitfire rose up and flew right at him, he was expecting a kiss, but she punched him straight in the jaw, knocking Mord down, "What was that?"
She replied, "You didn't call or did anything to let me know you're still alive." She grabbed his shoulders and kissed him right on the lips, they made out for about 5 seconds before she let off, "That's for coming back you bastard."
"Glad I did."
Baker asked, "Wait, I saw you there, pinned to he column, hanging there almost dead, how are you here?"
"Well, it's a bit of a long story, and a lot of luck."
"Tell us, we've got time." Said Yori.
"Alright, here goes nothing."
As Baker ran out of the room Mord leaned his head back and thought, "Well, this is it, I'm gonna die here. I guess there's something peaceful about being blown up.
What am I saying?! I will not die, I need to go back to Spitfire!" He grabbed the energy sword's handle and turned it off, he dropped to his knees. And fell back on the column he pulled out a can of spray foam (Used in Halo 3 ODST).
The put the nozzle in each of the holes in his body and sprayed it all in there, he wouldn't die, but it hurt, a lot. Mord stood up and looked to the door.
He walked out of the door limping all the way down the hall, until he saw another door, something inside Mord was telling him to go through. He opened the door and there was a whole bunch of escape pods, the Covenant were scrambling around, they never noticed Mord limp his way over to the closest pod and the fact the pod left.
He was almost at the planet's atmosphere when the ship blew up, the explosion pushed the pod just far enough away from the planet to just, float away.
At that moment, Mord knew he would die, he had at most 3 days before he dies.
About 2 days of floating in space in a sealed pod a civilian cargo ship flew towards the pod, they didn't think anything was alive, but Covenant metal sold for a lot of money. So they grabbed it up and put it into an examination room.
There were three people wearing dark blue radiation suits, the masks covered their faces. A male asked,
"Why is a Covenant drop pod out here?" The door flew off, the three people raised their guns ready to fire, until a figure stumbled out of the pod, they instantly reconized that it was human. And they lowered their pistols when they saw it was an O.D.S.T.
Mord quietly said, "Help me." He fell to the ground.
the men helped him, he was on that ship for a few days, and made some friends.
When he was dropped off at an U.N.S.C base they kept him there for 2 and a half weeks.
"I just got back, my pelican landed not 10 minutes ago, now that I've told you all about my survival, how about a drink? Haven't had one in 3 weeks."
They were just staring at him, "What? This ain't the first time I've been classified as dead, come on team, say something please."
"You were lucky." Was all Shining Armor said.
"I was, so where's my beer? I think I deserve one."
Yori replied, "Welcome back, not the first time I thought you were dead. Shining, go get us some drinks."
He nodded, Mord sat down, "To Mord, for coming back from the dead!" Said Yori.
