Fall in Manehatten

I still remember the day I met you, and it was my first day of kindergarten. You were so happy, and I was so unsure of everything.

"Hi my name is Rusty," you said with a smile on your face. I gave a small smile in return.

"Hello Rusty, my name is Black Light, you can also call me Blackie" I finished. you gave me a smile in return.

"Well, Blackie lets be best friends" I nodded my head in agreement. The school bell rang, I smiled at my new best friend and we ran for the school. I sat down at my desk. Rusty sat down next to me. We had to draw our family's as an assignment, and I started to make a drawing of my mother, father, and my little brother. I looked over at Rusty's drawing, all he was drawing was himself. I thought it was strange, and I finished my picture of my family. I got up out of my seat and walked up to the teacher and handed her my drawing, and she smiled at me, and I sat back down. I looked over at Rusty, and he finally finished with his drawing. I watched him walk up to the teacher. He handed his picture to her. She frowned at him, and he looked down at the floor. I could see them talking about something. I hoped it wasn't anything terrible. The teacher gave him a quick hug and patted him on the head, and he walked back over to his desk.

"Are you okay Rusty?" I asked. He looked over at me and sighed.

"No, the teacher heard what happened to me at a young age," he explained.

"Well, will you tell me what happened to you at a young age?" I frowned. He sighed and nodded.

"When I was young, my parents died, ponies in a cult killed them, my younger brothers and I had no other family other than my uncle. Well, I found out that I could move rocks with my will and mind, well the other ponies in Gallopfornia didn't understand my power. So some ponies would throw stones at my brother's and I, we'd run away from them to my uncle's farm. Well after a while my uncle was abusive towards my younger brothers and me, I also found out he was a part of the cult that killed my parents. I ran away from my uncle, but I left my younger brothers behind" I gave him a hug, no one should ever have to go through that.

"I am so sorry that you had to do that," I sighed. Rusty gave me a small smile. The bell rang for lunch, I got up slowly and walked with Rusty to the lunchroom. We sat down and ate our hay cakes with raisins in it, and we also had a salad to eat. I always enjoyed this type of lunch, after we finished with lunch, we went outside to play. I sat on the swing, Rusty stood behind me and began pushing me. "Wheeee," I said happily. My mane was flowing in the wind, and I had a massive smile on my face. The bell rang, I hopped off the swing, Rusty and I walked back to the school. It was time for the fillies and colts in our class to go home, and I hugged Rusty goodbye. I got in my parent's carriage and went back home, and my little brother was playing outside of our townhouse. He was supposed to be a pegasus, but when he was born his wings were developed, so they decided to remove his wings.

"Hey, big sis how was your first day of kindergarten?" Bright Flash smiled.

"It was a good day, I made a new friend. What about you Bright Flash how was your day?" I smiled.

"I learned the ABCs and 123s today," Bright Flash said happily. I ruffled his hair and made my way inside.

"Hello honey how was your first day of kindergarten?" my mother Bright Light asked. I smiled at my mom.

"I had a good day, and I made a new friend. His name is Rusty, and he said he's an orphan." I sighed. My mother frowned.

"Well that's not good, well maybe Rusty will be adopted by a lovely young family, my mom smiled. I nodded and sat down at the table. I ate my apple slices that she made for me. After I finished with my snack I went upstairs to my room, I made my bed and picked out my bows for my hair.

"Mom, will you do my hair tomorrow morning?" I yelled down the stairs.

"I will my dear" she yelled up the stairs. I smiled to myself and turned on my radio and listened to some music. I could hear my father Black Flash in his office talking to one of his many colleges from the elite weather team of Manehatten. I smiled and hopped off my bed and walked down the hall to my dad's office. I knocked on the door, hoping he'd let me in while he was on the phone.

"Come in, it's open," Black Flash said. I opened the door with a smile on my face.

"Hi daddy," I was holding my picture I drew for him in class.

"Hi honey, I see you made me another beautiful picture," he smiled.

"I did, its a picture of you and mommy and me and Bright Flash," I handedit to him. He took it and put it on his wall of drawings from my brother and I.

"Well Black Light I think you and your brother's pictures are beautiful, " he smiled. I gave him a hug.

"Thank, Daddy, I just wish mommy would put some of our picture on the fridge," I sighed. My father frowned.

"I know, but you know how your mother is about her kitchen not being cluttered. That also goes for the fridge, and I know it hurts your feelings. But I'll always put your drawings up" he said while hugging me. I smiled at my daddy and walked back to my room and turned my radio off, and I walked downstairs and outside to see if my younger brother wanted to play with me. I walked out to see him staring at the trees, the leaves on the trees were starting to turn different colors. Yellows, Reds, and Oranges. I sat down next to my brother.

"Sis I'm looking forward to the leaves falling, I'm going to play in them all day," Bright Flash laughed

"You know what I'm looking forward to little brother? I am looking forward to winter" I said. Big dark rain clouds were starting moving in. I shivered from the chill in the air. "Come on little bro lets go inside," I said turning around to go inside the house. My brother and I went inside, and my mom was already making dinner. I sat at the table with my little brother while we waited for dinner to be ready. It started to rain outside with some thunder and lightning, and I was awestruck by how beautiful it looked out. I sat there and looked at the storm outside, and my brother was staring as well. We get storms all the time, but this storm was big, but it was also beautiful. My mother was making her famous egg drop soup with southern black-eyed peas and cornbread, this meal was one of my favorites. She dished my brother and I our dinner, and we began eating, my father came in. He was part of the weather ponies of Manehatten, and he looked a little frazzled from the storm, he smiled at my mom and made his way downstairs. My mom got his plate ready as he got his cup of coffee, the wind was whistling. I got quite nervous from this, I shuddered. My mom put a hoof on my shoulder.

"It's okay honey storms like this happen all the time, and we're by the sea, and the Crystal mountains are behind us. So I'm not surprised we got a storm like this" My mom Bright Light said with a smile. She always knew how to make me feel better. I gave my mom a small smile back as I continued to eat my dinner, my father sat down.

"Black Light how were your first day of kindergarten?" Black Flash asked.

"It was a great daddy, and I made a new friend today. His name is Rusty" I finished. My brother and I finished our dinner, and I got up and kissed my mom and dad goodnight as I went to my room to go to sleep, my room illuminated with the bright light from the storm. Although it was loud, it lulled me to a peaceful sleep. I awoke to the sound of rain, I sat up and looked outside. ' Boo I was hoping the rain would be done' I said to myself. I got out of bed and headed downstairs to see my mom sitting at the table with her coffee, and I sat down next to her at the table.

"Good morning Black Light how'd you sleep?" Bright Light asked.

"Good" I smiled. Bright Light gave me a small smile back and got up to get me juice, and I always liked to get up early with my mother and have juice with her. She handed me my cranberry juice and sat back down at the table, I sipped at my juice and sat with my mother in a comfortable silence. All you could hear was the rain and the faint ticking of the clock.

Winter in Manehatten

I looked out my window to see little snowflakes falling; I smiled and ran downstairs to greet my mother.

"Good morning honey why are you so excited?" she smiled.

"Mommy it's snowing!" I said excitedly. My mother opened the kitchen curtains.

"It is snowing, do you and your brother want to build a snowman?" she asked. I nodded with a huge smile on my face. She shook her head. "Put your coat on at least" my mom yelled up the stairs I sighed and put my coat on and my scarf. My brother was fast asleep, so I decided not to wake him, I ran outside and started to work on a snowman right away. As I finished the first part of the snowman, I saw Rusty with his hat and green coat, I ran over to him.

"Rusty!! Do you want to help me with my snowman?" I asked him. He nodded.

"I will Blackie," he smiled. We headed over to the base of my snowman, and Rusty started to get the middle of it ready. I ran inside quick.

"Mommy, can I have some buttons, a carrot, and some blueberries?" I asked. She smiled at me. While grabbing the things I needed.

"Let me guess, are these for your snowman?" she said with a smile. I nodded. She handed me my things and looked outside. "I take it that's Rusty?" she smiled. I blushed and nodded. "Well he'll be joining us for breakfast" my mom finished. I smiled at her as I ran back outside, I put the things on the porch and helped Rusty finish the middle of the snowman. Rusty and I started to push the middle of the snowman into place, and I smiled to him once we finished it. I heard the front door close, and I looked over to see my father.

"Daddy, will you help Rusty and I with the top of the snowman?" I asked.

"of course" he smiled. Rusty and I got the top of the snowman ready while my dad waited to help put it in its place. Rusty and I put the last piles of snow on it and added ears, and my father smiled and picked it up with his wings.

"Wow your dad sure is strong," Rusty smiled.

"Yeah he is, he's the most powerful Pegasus in the world," I said proudly. My dad let out a chuckle as he started to put the finishing touches on our snowman, my brother came out next.

"Awe sissy you didn't wake me up, I could have helped you and Rusty," he pouted.

"It's okay champ, you can contribute to the snowman by putting the nose on it," my dad said. Letting my brother climb onto his back. My brother put the carrot on the snowman's face. He smiled proudly at his finishing touches. "Good job everypony," he said to us. My dad and my little brother walked into the house, and Rusty started to turn around to leave.

"Rusty, my mom said that it's okay if you wanted to stay for breakfast," I stated with a shy smile on my face. He nodded and followed me into the townhouse. My brother was watching his morning cartoons for the weekend, and I smiled at my mom as she started working on breakfast. Rusty and I walked into the living room to watch cartoons with my brother, and he was watching Loonyponies. After a while of watching cartoons I could smell pancakes, my mom always made the best pancakes. I got up to see how they were going, and she smiled at me as I walked into the kitchen. She had assorted fruit in bowls for each of us, we all liked different fruits. My brother's bowl had apples, oranges, and grapes in it, my dad's dish had pomegranate, grapefruit, and cantaloupe in it. My mom's had strawberries, peaches, and pears in it, my bowl had blueberries, watermelon, and honeysuckle in it. My mom wasn't sure what to put it Rusty's bowl, so she put all kinds in his. I sat down in my seat and got ready for this fantastic breakfast that I was about to eat, Rusty came in and sat next to me. I gave him a smile, and I could hear my father walking down the stairs. "Daddy, thank you for helping Rusty and I with our snowman" I beamed. My mother rolled her eyes.

"You're welcome sweetheart" my father finished in a weird tone. I shrugged and waited for my breakfast, and my mom handed me my plate. It only had one pancake. I sighed to myself and made due with it, and my mother liked to make sure we had a lot of food in the house. When it was breakfast or dinner time we never go much, I never really gave it much thought. My mother handed my father his plate, and I noticed they weren't making eye contact. I shrugged it off as nothing, and my mom started tapping her hoof on the kitchen floor.

"Bright Flash!! Get in the kitchen now!" my mother yelled. I jumped at her raised voice.

"Honey I'll get him, he is only five years old, and you know how short of an attention span he has," he said quickly. My mother scoffed and sat down. My father came in with my brother in tow, and my brother sat down next to my dad. He usually sat by mom, but not today with the way her temper was. My family ate quietly, and this was unusual to me. My father always talked about things, so did my mother. I started to get nervous, so I decided to say something to lighten the mood.

"I love you, momma," I stated with a small smile on my face. She looked at me for a moment and looked away. My ears flattened. "I love you, momma," I said again, my voice cracking. My mother sighed.

"Black Light honey not right now," she said quietly.

"But momma why won't you say I love you back?" I asked. My mother sighed and rubbed a hoof between her eyes.

"Because mommy doesn't feel like talking at the moment," she said I nodded. My eyes were tearing up, and I started sniffling.

"Really Bright Light? You're not going to say I love you to our daughter?" he said quietly.

"At the moment Black Flash No," she said. I started to cry, and my mom had her moments. She didn't like to say I love you, but she did say it at times. She also had a quick temper and was very awkward when it came to most conversations. Rusty looked at me and sighed, he had finished his breakfast and whispered goodbye Blackie, and I'll see you at school in a couple of days I nodded as he left. I whimpered a little, and the tears kept coming. "Black Light quit it!" my mother yelled. I jumped from her yelling, I got up and ran to my room. I heard my brother run up the stairs and into my room, we were huddled under my blankets. We heard our parents screaming at each other, all I could do was keep crying.

"Sissy, we're going to be okay?" he asked. I nodded. Our mother had never hurt us before, and I wasn't ever worried about that. At least I thought I never had to worry about it. I heard the door slam, and I heard hoof steps coming up the stairs. I held my breath hoping it wasn't my mother, and she scared me with how angry she got. My door opened, and I heard someone sigh.

"Kids it's your mother, please come out from under the covers" My brother, and I peeked our heads out from under the covers, she looked infuriated with us. I shuddered at the thought of our punishment, I wiped away the tears and got out from under the blanket. "That's a good girl," she said with a soothingly sick tone. My brother got out from under the covers as well, and we stood there in front of our mother. "I'm unhappy with you two, and you should have just eaten you're breakfast quietly and gone off to play outside. Instead, you caused your father and I to get into a fight" she said in an angry tone. I nodded my head quietly, and I looked up at her. All of a sudden I was knocked off balance and fell to the floor, my mouth tasted like copper. I opened my eyes, one eye I couldn't see very well out of. I looked over to see my brother on the floor with a bloody nose and mouth, and I started to cry as I tried to get up. I was sore and hurting, I crawled over to my brother and held him close to me. I could hear my mother talking to herself, and she sounded off. I slowly got up and closed my door quietly, I grabbed my pillows and my blanket and snuggled up close to my little brother. I'd do anything to protect him, and I wish I were awake to protect him from our mother. My floor had blood in several spots from my brother and me, and I started to cry. Parents aren't supposed to treat their flesh and blood like this. I heard the front door open downstairs, and I was pretty sure it was my father.

"Seriously, what is going on with you?," he sighed. I could hear him making his way upstairs, and opened the door. My brother and I were facing the other direction. "Oh my god, please tell me these two survived and are okay," he said quietly. He kneeled down close to us, and I could hear that he was crying. "Oh my little ones, she should have never laid a hoof on you two," he said nuzzling against us. I slowly opened my right eye.

"Daddy," I said faintly.

"Black Light you're alright" he exclaimed I nodded.

"Bright Flash is okay too, and he's breathing," I said quietly. My Dad laid down next to me and put a protective wing over my brother and me.

"There is no way you're going to school tomorrow," my father said. I could hear my mother talking to herself, and walking up the stairs. I pulled my brother closer and nuzzeled against my father. My mother walked into my room, my father looked up at her.

"How could you hurt our own children?" he seethed. My mother sighed.

"Because I don't love them" she yelled. My father stood up, my brother and I backed up until we were under my bed.

"So why did you have children in the first place then?" he glared at my mother.

"Because I thought I would enjoy having my own children" she sniffled. "But one was born with deformed wings and they had to be removed. And the other one has weird colored hooves and legs, my legs and hooves aren't that color" "Your hooves and legs aren't that color" my mother finished. My father sighed.

"Her legs and hooves are that color because of me, my mother on my side has hooves that color and my father has the multi-colored legs" My father glared at my mother. "I want you out of my life, I want you to stay away from my children" My father yelled. My mother laughed as she walked out of my room.

"Gladly, you won't ever see me again" She finished as she walked out of the house. I came out from under my bed and looked at my father.

"Daddy is mommy coming back?" I asked, he shook his head. "Good" I said quitely. My father hugged me tightly.

"Black Light I'm sorry that she hurt you" he sniffled. I hugged him back.

"It's okay now that she's gone" My brother sighed.

"I'm going to make sure you never have to deal with her again" My father sighed.

Summer in Manehatten

View Online

I looked outside to see cherry blossom petals falling from our tree in the backyard, and I got out of bed. I made my bed and picked up my toys and put them on my bay window self. I arranged my pillows and put my favorite stuffed bear on my bed; I went into my bathroom and brushed my mane and tail out. I used my magic to clean up my bathroom a little, and then I walked downstairs to see my dad starting breakfast. I smiled at him as I went outside into the backyard, our yard was beautiful in summer. There were several cherry blossom trees, a swing set and a big sandbox for us to play it. I sat on the swing and moved a little rock around with my hoof, and I sighed as I looked up at the sky. I saw a Pegasus flying towards our house, and it looked like one of the many weather ponies my dad works with. I told my father a pegasus from his work was here.

"Hello Black Flash," the pegasi said.

"Hello Radar Blitz," my dad said with a smile. The two pegasi hugged each other quickly.

"How are you doing?" Radar asked.

"I'm doing better than I thought I was going to," he said with a smile.

"That's good, how is your wife Bright Light doing?" Radar asked.

"Well they pony over at Baltimare mental institution say that she will be there for a few years at least. Apparently, she stopped taking her medicine a few years ago, and she started to lose it, I saw it with her temper often and just thought maybe she had a short temper. it also hurt me deep to see that she had hurt our children. To come home and see them huddled in the corner of my daughter's room covered up in a blanket all bruised and bloodied" my father finished.

"She has to be over there for a few years?" Radar asked. My dad nodded.

"Well if she doesn't take her medicine, she's a manic depressive that has a bipolar disorder," he said.

"Wow, so they're getting her body used to her medicine again?" Radar asked. My dad nodded.

"That and they want to make sure she doesn't have any signs of suicidal tendencies" my father stated.

"One thing I don't understand, though, why so far away from you guys?" Radar finished.

"They wanted as far away from us as possible because they were concerned for the safety of our little ones. I mean Black Light was only 6 when that happened, and Bright Flash was only 5. Now Black Light is turning 7 in a few days and will start 1st grade. Bright Flash just turned 6 and will start Kindergarten soon. Both of them still flinch when I move to give them hugs, they both still have nightmares about it" he sighed. Radar shook his head.

"I say her right now, but I know you want to give her another chance," Radar said. My father nodded his head slightly. Radar waved goodbye and flew away. My brother and I got up to go inside, and dad had just finished breakfast. I smiled at him as I sat down at my seat, My brother sat next to me. Dad ended up getting a smaller table, and I was okay with it.

"Here you go Black Light pancakes and fruit" he smiled at me, I started to eat my food. My brother got his food, and my father sat down to eat his food. "So Black Light you're birthday is coming up soon, is there anything you want to do?" he asked. I shrugged and moved my food around on my plate.

"I kind of want to go to the swim park for my birthday," I said with a small smile.

"Then the swim park it is" my father stated. Over my first month of summer, I have made friends with two fillies, one's name was Cotton Tail, and she was a light yellow earth pony with a fluffy white mane and tail, she has orange eyes. I got along with her well, another I made friends with was Wind Caller She was a Pegasus with light brown fur, brown, gold and white mane and yellow eyes. I wanted to ask daddy if they could come over, but I was nervous. Ever since the thing with my mother I was so anxious to make friends or ever talk to other ponies.

"Daddy, I have a question," I said quietly.

"What is it Blackie?" he asked.

"So I made friends with these two fillies, and I was wondering if they could come over and play?" I asked. My father smiled at me.

"Of course they can sweetie, call them here in a few hours and play away" he finished. I hugged him quickly and ran upstairs to look at my beautiful room, and I didn't see anything that needed to be moved. I ran downstairs.

"Daddy, will you come look at my room?" I said. He nodded and walked upstairs to look at it.

"Everything looks beautiful honey, don't get nervous or anxious. You'll do great" he finished. I opened the jewelry box my great grandma Bronze Blade gave me, and there was the beautiful necklace she had given me before she passed away. I didn't notice that my eyes were tearing up as I looked at myself with it around my neck. "Oh, my that looks so good on you," my father said. I miss her so much" he finished. I nodded as I took a deep breath and called them.

"Daddy they're coming over here," I said with a big smile on my face.

"That's good honey; you're brother, and I are going down to the swim park. I'm going to teach him how to swim" he said with a smile. I waved goodbye to my father and little brother and waited for them to come over, I saw two carriages park in front of my house, so I opened the door and stood on the porch. They got out of the carriages and handed the drivers some bits, and I smiled as they started to walk up to my house.

"Hey fillies, I'm so glad you could make it," I said smiling.

"I'm glad too, I'm glad all three of us get along so well," Cotton Tail said.

"Agreed, this is a beautiful townhouse your family has" Wind Caller smiled. I nodded, and we walked into the kitchen, I walked over to the island.

"My daddy made us some snacks for later on if we get hungry" I smiled.

"Awesome I love apples and carrots" Cotton Tail stated.

"Do you guys want a tour of the house?" I asked. They nodded. "Okay well as you can see this it the kitchen, come through here and this is the living room" I smiled.

"Wow, this living room is excellent. Big tv, DVD, video games. Computer, how rich is you're family?" Cotton Tail asked.

"Um well my dad is a retired Wonderbolt" I finished.

"Well that explains why your family is rich" Wind Caller laughed. I nodded.

"The downstairs area is the laundry room, and my dad's room and bathroom."

"You don't have a mother?" Cotton Tail asked.

"I do, she's just not living here with us at the moment," I said nervously.

"Why?" Wind Caller asked.

"She's in Baltimare, she's in a mental instatution ," I said faintly.

"Oh," Cotton Tail said quietly.

"Sorry," Wind Caller finished.

"It's okay, and I'm glad she's over there. That way she can't hurt my younger brother and me" I said slowly.

"Well, I'm glad too, cause if she wasn't you might've not met us" Cotton Tail smiled. I nodded in agreement.

"Upstairs is where my room and my brother's rooms are" I smiled as we walked up the stairs. We got to my room, and I sat on my bed. "Welcome to my room," I said happily.

"Wow," Cotton Tail said.

"This room is fabulous," Wind Caller said.

"I'm glad you guys like it, it took my parents forever to finally agree on how to decorate my room" I laughed. I hopped off my bed and turned on my music, Cotton Tail, Wind Caller and I jumped on my bed while singing and dancing. I was having the time of my life, and it was incredible to have more friends. I hoped these fillies would become my best friends in the entire world of Equestria. After a few hours of getting to know each other, they ended up having to go home. I said goodbye to my new friends after they left my father and little brother came home. "Daddy I'm so happy you came home, I have so much to tell you. Wind Caller and Cotton Tail are my new best friends" I said happily.

"Oh honey that's so great, I'm so glad you made friends with those two fillies. I hope you three are best friends forever" he said as he hugged me.
