This is the story of five changelings and there adventures in ponyville. Perepare for insanity.
This is the story of five changelings that are sent to ponyville due to the failure of the Canterlot invasion. They're going to have to deal with being trapped in a town overrun with the enemy. Will they be able to hide? What will they're do if there caught? What secrets will they uncover? Who knows!
This is my first fanfiction ever, so I hope it does well. I have a lot of other ideas in my head that i want to try, but this is going to be my first.
So constructive criticism and corrections are welcome.
This day had been just perfect for Firefly. Firefly was a female harvester class changeling which meant she was one of the most common types of changelings anyone would encounter, she was responsible for integrating into a society and harvesting as much love as she needed and bringing it back to the hive for distribution.Today had been different though, today there glorious Queen put into effect a master plan to conquer Equestria. This would mean a lot less work for her in the future.
At the moment she was just flying over the battle that was raging beneath her, Firefly never really liked violence but if her queen demanded it she would fight. It was at this moment she noticed something on the roof of a building. There was a group of four changelings sitting on the edge of the roof accompanied by two ponies. She instantly knew who the four changelings where and flew down to join them with a sigh.
“Oh hey Firefly!” said a warrior class changeling how was currently holding a half eaten muffin Warrior class changelings looked a lot like there harvester counterparts but had extended carapace the looked like black armour.
“What are you four doing? there is an invasion going on if you haven't noticed!” Firefly yelled at her four friends.
The Warrior Class Changeling was named Maggot and was known for being a lazy coward. Next to him sat a Scout class Changeling known as Aphid as all members of his king he did not possess fangs and was smaller than the rest of his kind about the size of a foal but he was blessed with increased intelligence and speed.Next was Termite another Harvester class but he was much older then Firefly, he had lost vision in one of his eyes due to an old scar he had gotten on a mission. Last was Mayfly a Caretaker Class, caretakers almost never left the hive due to the fact that they mainly took care of the eggs and hatchlings, so they didn't have fangs or holes in their legs that were used for speed and combat.
“There are more then enough changelings to do the the job hatchling.” Stated Termite followed by him taking a bite out of his own muffin.
“Ok, then why are you four just sitting next to the enemy?” she retorted pointing at the gray pegasus mare and the small unicorn filly.
“Oh, Im sorry Firefly i forgot to introduce you to our new friends this is Miss Derpy Hooves and her lovely daughter Dinky” kindly replied Mayfly. Both ponies kindly waved and gave their hellos. Just like you Mayfly making friends with anyone and anything you meet. firefly sighed once more and took position next to Maggot.
“So aren't the rest of you going to do something about those two ponies?”
“Im too old.” Stated Termite.
“Im too small.” Stated Aphid.
“Im wounded.” Stated Maggot
Firefly looked over Maggots body not seeing anything wrong with him. “Maggot your perfectly fine.” She stated in an annoyed tone. “Emotional trauma, I can't deal with the violence of war and miss Hooves here has been comforting me with these delicious muffins.”
Oh yeah Maggot you are totally traumatized and this is a battle between ponies and changelings its not like there are going to be any casualties. This is just another one of your lousy excuses. “Fine just pass me a muffin. And you two don't move your official our prisoners!” Firefly replied wanting to seem professional.
“Actually we made a deal with your friends that if your invitation could not be defeated in the next 10 minutes you can take use as your prisoners.”Derpy said with a smile while handing Firefly a muffin.
“O well thats nice.” Firefly said taking a bite out of her muffin and instantly choking on it. “YOU FOUR DID WHAT?!” she screamed at her so called friends.
“O Firefly you're scaring them.” Said Mayfly consoling the young unicorn.
“O IM SORRY! BUT I JUST LEARNED THAT MY CLOSEST FRIENDS MADE A DEAL WITH THE ENEMY ON WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THEM PRISONER! THIS IS BORDERLINE TREASON GUYS!” Firefly screamed as loud as she could.
“Calm down Firefly do you want to trigger a hive alert on us!” Maggot retorted while shoving a muffin in Firefly’s mouth.
“Don’t worry Firefly it is all under control. There is noway for the ponies to defeat us in the next ten minutes.” Aphid said confident in that fact.
Finally Firefly just accepted the fact that her friends where the laziest changelings in existence. I guess if you can't beat them join them. Damn do i hate that phrase i seem to use it so much when i'm with these four.She simply took a bite out of the muffin in her mouth and sat next to her friends when she noticed that Termite was not watching the battle below but he was staring up with a smirk on his face. She wasn't the only one that noticed.
“Is something bothering you Termite?” Asked Mayfly her voice full of concern.
At that Termite Stood up and turned to Derpy saluted her and said “ Well it has been a pleasure but me and my friends will be leaving.” He turned to the others. “ C'mon everyone huddled together.”
The Four other changelings did as their elder said but shared confused glances. “ Um Termite the only way the ponies could defeat our army is if they had some sort of expanding magical field that could only affect changelings.”Stated Aphid with another confused look.
“So what do you hatchlings suppose that is?” asked the old changeling.
The four young changelings looked at where Termite was pointing at and upon seeing the oncoming magical field all they heard before it hit was Aphid saying “Well would you look at that some sort of expanding magical field that can only affect changelings.”
The group of five changelings went soaring through the air huddling together for protection. They were all screaming their heads off except for Termite who was as calm as he’s ever been.
“Ok everyone we need to reposition ourselves for landing.” Ordered the old changeling. “Maggot your infront, Firefly your next, then me, then Mayfly and last Aphid.”
“What! Why do I have to be the one to koshen everyones fall!” Screamed Maggot as he moved into position.
“Your warrior class Maggot your made to survive heavy impacts.” Screamed Aphid from the back of the groupe.
Maggot could see the rapidly approaching ground and only got a few words out of his mouth before impact “ I hate my life.” Then all went dark for the five of the changeling.

Maggot woke up with a major headache, It felt as if he had gotten into a headbutting contest with a manticore who was wearing a helmet. His vision was blurred and he could not tell where he was. Then he noticed the pain in his right foreleg. “Wow there hatchling don't move so much we had quite the fall.” Maggot recognized the voice as Termite and as sone as his vision returned he realized that they were both in a bush and his foreleg was bandaged. “Question number 1, why are we in a bush? Question number 2, why am I bandaged up. Question number 3, where are the others? And question number 4, and this is an important one, did you happen to bring along one of those muffins?” asked the wounded changeling.
“Nice to see the fall hasn't caused any brain damage. In order of your questions, were hiding because we're still in equestria. As for the bandages, since you didn't fill up on love during the invasion your natural healing abilities are at their weakest,and you broke both a leg and one of your wings in the crash. The others are hiding in another bush trying to calm Mayfly down. Finally for your last question yes i had a muffin but Mayfly is eating it right now.”
“Wait if you saved that muffin for me then why did you give it to her?”
The older changeling looked at the wounded one and stared at him as he said. “Maggot we've been cut off.”
Maggot quickly checked the back of his mind for any sign of the rest of the swarm in the hive mind but the only thoughts he could hear were those of the group. “What why did they cut us off from the rest of the swarm?”
“Standard procedure, if you don't respond within the first 24 hours of a failed invasion your considered dead or captured.”Termite looked away from Maggot again and simply continued scanning the area for signs of movement.
“So im guessing Mayfly is taking things badly?”
“She wasn't trained to deal with the chance of being separated from the hive. So yes she is taking it badly.”
Suddenly a voice came over the hive mind it was Mayfly “I'm fine now guys don't worry too much about me.”
“Good. Everyone the coast seems clear so we can regroup at the crash site.”Upon saying this Termite left the bush.
“Thanks for leaving your wounded friend in a bush!”Called out Maggot. He received no response. So he resorted to the hive mind, “hello wounded friend in bush calling. Need help getting to crash site.”
“Maggot you're already at the Crash site just look outside of the bush.” called Aphid
Maggot proceeded to poke his head out of the bush to see his four friends standing in front of a giant crater. “Wow, how did the ponies miss that?!”
“They didn't, luckily Termite woke up before they arrived and hid all of us.” Stated Firefly.
“They didn't check the bushes?”Asked Maggot
“They didn't have too. I impersonated a first responder, and told the canterlot guards that i saw the crashed Changelings run into the forest.” Said Termite who was still on the lookout for any ponies.
“So what do we do now?” Asked a very traumatized looking Mayfly.
“Well since Maggot is wounded and we are cut off from the hive. We need to find a source of love to heal Maggot and fuel our magic so we can use the hive mind to guide us back home.”This came from Aphid who was hovering over the group.
“That should not be too hard we're actually close to a small town called Ponyville.”Termite pointed out while changing into his custom form and old white coated black maned, unicorn stallion still in good physical shape with a black shield cutie mark, he still had the scare over his eye some things the natural changeling shapeshifting can't cover up.
The others changed it to their customs forms as well. Aphid was a red pegasus foal with a dark brown mane and no cutie mark. Firefly was a yellow unicorn with a dark blue mane and a telescope cutie mark. Finally Maggot was a black Pegasus with a blood red mane and a mace shaped cutie mark. the only one who did not change was Mayfly who just stared at her friends as they changed.
Firefly was the first to notice. “O that is right you don't have a custom form Mayfly.”
“So what do I do to get one?” asked the worried Caretaker.
Aphid took charge in the explanation. “Its very easy actually. Just do what you would do when impersonating a pony except you have to make one up inside your head. it is easier to do if you pick something close to your personality.”
“Well ok, here i go.” Mayfly closed her eyes and created a pony that felt the most like her self. She turned into a black earth pony with a ghostly blue mane and a cutie mark of a lime green egg. “How do I look?” She asked while opening her eyes and giving a weak smile.
“Well you look like a pony and thats all that matters.” Said termite as he started to walk towards town.
“Yeah a pony that could easily pass for a changeling.” added Maggot as he lipped after the old changeling.
Termite came to a stop and turned to the rest of the group and announced “That reminds me where spliting up to avoid detection. Aphid you with Mayfly and Firefly you're with maggot. I’m going on my own.” Both Mayfly and Aphid nodded, both Firefly and maggot sighed.
When they arrived in town they all split up since they did not have enough energy to maintain the hive mind for very far they decide to refrain from using it to conserve energy.

Aphid and Mayfly had both entered Ponyville and had just separated from the others when they came across a large cupcake like building.
“This place looks promising.” said Aphid as he walked towards the front door of the building. He turned as he noticed Mayfly was not following him. She stood there frozen in front of the building. Aphid sighed and grabbed her front hoof and aided her into the building.
“It won't be that bad Mayfly just act like a pony and let the love flow into you its not hard, and don't worry about the ponies they have a surplus of love so only a prolonged absorption will actually hurt them.” Said the small changeling as he opened the front door. He was greeted with the loudest gasp he had ever heard that was quickly followed by a pink blur the engulfed his vision.
“Hiimpinkiepieandiknoweveryoneinponyvilleandihaveneverseenyoutwobeforesoyoumustbenewandifyournewitmeansyouhaventmetanyoneyetsoimgoingtothrowyoua...” Pinkie Pie continued like this for a couple of minutes until she finally stopped to ask for their names.
Aphid seemed to be having trouble understanding what she was saying. But Mayfly on the other hand enjoyed the verbal assault on her ears. It had a calming affect on her due to the fact the rambling reminded her of the hivemind. So she decided to do what Aphid told her and acted like a pony. “Well i'm Mayfly and this is...”she paused for a moment to think of how to introduce the scout. “My son Aphid.” She instantly herd Aphid snap out of his stupor and scold her in the hivemind. “Mayfly you used our real names she will obviously figure us out now!!!”
“Well Mayfly and Aphid welcome to Ponyville!! Oh I Should start planning for your party but you can stay here at Sugarcube Corner if you want.” with that she dashed off into the kitchen.
“Well that went better than expected Mom. Lets go grab a seat and wait for the love to pour in.”
They sat in one of the booths and waited until some more ponies would enter the sweetshop.

Maggot and Firefly encountered a house shaped that was made out of a tree. “A Library perfect.” Stated Firefly as she approached the front door. “How do you know its a library just looks like a treehouse to me?” said Maggot as he lipped after her.
“I know its a Library due to the symbol on the the door. Most of my mission had me stationed at Trottingham University, so I spent a lot of time at their library.” explained the harvester as they entered the Tree house.
In the Library Twilight was giving Spike instruction. “Spike I need you to gather the others as quickly as possible and bring them here.”
“But Twilight we just got back from the wedding cant we put this off until tomorrow.” Complained the small dragon
“Spike this is important we don't know if all the changelings are actually out of equestria or if they plan on returning. We need a plan to protect Equestria and I believe my new invention could help.” Spike left Shortly after that excusing himself as he passed the two changelings in disguise.
“Oh, Hello.” Said Twilight as she finally noticed the two “ponies”. “Sorry i didnt notice you there I have been so caught up in my work on the Anti-Changeling plans. Can I help you with anything.”
Maggot just stared at her not knowing what to say. While FireFly calmly asked. “ Yes you can as you can see here my Pegasus Friend has hurt himself in a flying accident and has asked me to perform a healing spell on him to accelerate the recovery process. Would you happen to have a book on such spells.”
“O yes I do believe I keep the books on healing over here.” She said turning around to magically grab the books. When Firefly swiftly raised her hoof and knock the Librarien out.
“Why did you do that for?!” yelled the shocked warrior.
“She has a secret invention that could ruin our harvest for ever and without we would be unable to protect the colonie properly from other hives.” Explained Firefly as she stuffed the unconscious unicorn into a closet.
“Yeah but she sent that dragon to bring her friend here so won't they notice she is missing?”
“Thats why I will be replacing her while you search for the invention.” Said Firefly as she turned into the purple unicorn.
“O no you won't I'm going to impersonate her while you look for the invention I'm too wounded to look.” Said Maggot as he turned into the unicorn as well.
“ You weren't wounded enough to walk all the way here and anyways your leg is broken and bandaged they will notice right away you're not her.”
“You don't think I can come up with an excuse.”
“Yes as a matter of fact I do, I'm harvester cast so ovecores I out rank a warrior like you in the stealth department.”
“Did you just call me out on class.”
Needless to say this argument would go on for awhile.

Termite entered the towns marketplace. He started to look browse the shops taking in the stray strands of love from the various ponies perusing the shops until he came across a certain flavor of love he recognized. He found the source of the familiar love it was coming from an apple stand that was run by an orange earth pony mare. He could tell that the Apple merchant was not the source of the love but the gray pegasus she was talking too. As he approached he instantly recognized Derpy by her cross eyed expression. As he approached he could hear her conversation with the merchant.
“No I don't think me and Dinky where being mind controlled.”Said the cross eyed mare. “ It was more like they were lazy and didn't want to join the fighting, and any ways i wasn't attracted to them in a give you all my love sort of way. It kind of just felt i was eating muffins with some friends.”
“Ah’ don’t if you were under some sort of magic or if y’all managed to run into some nice changelings, as hard as that is to believe. But I’m sure of one thing the ones I met at the weddin were definitely not good.” Responded Applejack.
Watching the conversation go on, Termite came to think of the situation he was in. Well so far the mission is a success but there is still an issue that i need to take care of and I believe that Miss Hooves and her friend over there can help. With his internal decision making done he approached the two mares and prepared his introduction.
“Hello Miss Hooves a Pleasure to see you again!” The two mares looked to see the large unicorn who had approached them.
“Um, hello.” Said Derpy she seemed to be trying to remember where she had seen this unicorn before and was drawing a blank.
“Well Howdy, i'm Applejack proprietor a Sweet Apple Acres supplier of this here apple stand.” The earth pony simply beamed with pride about her work place.
Termite took her introduction to help the poor mailmare recognize him. “A pleasure to meet you Miss Applejack, I am Termite. A recent acquaintance with Miss Hooves.”
The blonde pegasus was instantly reminded of who this unicorn was. “Wait Termite what are you doing here. This isn't the safest place for you to be.”She said in a worried tone checking around to see if there were any royal guards around.
“Well the first reason I'm here is the fact that my group has been cut off from the others and Maggot was injured and need time to heal. As for the fact that I revealed myself to you and your friend Miss applejack is damage control. We would probably be found out within a week Mayfly is way too inexperienced for long and its only a matter of time until Maggot mess up something.” After Termites explanation Derpy turned to Applejack half expecting her to tackle the old changeling. But she wasn't moving except for glaring daggers at the white stallion.
“Applejack, are you ok?” asked Derpy
“She sadly can't respond to your question, I have temporarily frozen her in place the only thing she can move is her eyes.”explained Termite.
“Let her go Termite.”Now Derpy was Glaring at him “Let her go now.”
“I would love too but she has to promise not to bring attention or attack me.”
“Applejack blink twice if you Pinkie promise not to attack or bring attention to Termite.”Applejack rolled her eyes then blinked twice and was suddenly able to move again.
“Y’all better have a good excuse as to why i shouldn't hogtie y’ah right now monster.”
“The main reason is that you promised not too. But that is besides the point,The true reason is because my groupe means you no harm we are not what you would call the most hard working changelings and we should be out of your manes relatively soon.”
“How long is relatively soon?” Asked a suspicious Applejack.
“At the rate of passive collection I'm getting now 3 to 4 weeks.”
“3 TO 4 WEEKS.” yelled both mares.
“Voices down please, and yes collecting love thats not directly associated to you is not very inefficient and takes more time. Which is why I decided to fill you in Miss applejack. You are the element of harmonie applejack correct?”
“Yes I am, and what does that have to do with anything?”
“It means that the other elements of harmonie are here which would make you the most qualified to handle the situation.”
Applejack sighed she didn't want to believe it but what the changeling said to her kind of made sense. “I'll have to pass this by my friends first.”
“Of Course, you can organize to meet our group when ever you want we are only five so you outnumber us. There will be no need to worry I simply want to make this stay as quick and problem free as possible.” “Don't’ Forget our deal Termite you and your friends owe me a lot of muffins.” Added Derpy
Suddenly a small purple scaled dragon game running to the stand. “Hey AJ, Twilight want you to go to the library for a meeting about the changelings. See you there i got to go find Pinkie pie now.” With that the little dragonling ran off.
“Well then it seems we can settle this matter sooner than i thought.” Said Termite as he followed Applejack to the library.
In Sugarcube Corner Mayfly and Aphid where still simply sitting in there booth. “This plan may not be as good as I had originally planed.”Said The small changeling as he leaned back in his seat. “What? Its going great we can just sit here and feed off the love of the customers and staff and soon we will have enough so we can home.” Mayfly stopped her positive rant and sighed and changed to a somber tone. “I hope the Larve are fine with out me. I mean i know there are more caretakers but i kind of felt like I’m missing out on them growing up and you know finding out what cast they will become.”
“I know you miss the hive but we cant even find it without access to the full effect of the hive mind. But returning to my original problem this plan is not going too work we cant just sit here all day somepony will notice.”Aphid whispered back to her.
Suddenly the front door to the sweet shop slammed open and a small exhausted looking dragon was trying to catch his breath.He looked at the two changelings in disguise and asked “Is Pinkie pie here?” They both pointed towards the kitchen. “Thanks.” Spike then entered the kitchen. After a few moments both he and Pinkie exited the kitchen and the sweet shop. As she made her exit she called out too the changelings.
“Sorry you too but I'm going to have too put the party plans on hold i have to get to the library for a meeting on changeling bye.”
Both Mayfly and Aphid stared at each other. Until Mayfly broke the silence. “Should we check that out?” witch Aphid quickly responded “We should check that out.”They both got up from there seats and followed the pink pony.
“Mayfly we should split up so that there is less of a chance that we would get spotted.”
“Ok Aphid, Mayfly entering spyfly mode.”
“Um you just need to follow the pony without her noticing you. The name is not necessary.”
“Now see if you where an actual larva you would have found that funny.”
“Yeah if i where a hatchling. Remember keep the hive mind clear we need to conserve the love we've gathered so far.” With that Mayfly was truly alone. The lack of voices in the back of her mind didn't feel right. Back at the hive she would teach the little hatchlings how to use there natural abilities. The hive mind is the one thing that cannot be controlled by any hive or any queen, it is in away a separate being that had its own voice that it hid amongst the masses. It is said that only a Queen or members of the hive called prophets could speak directly with this unheard voice. The hive mind was something magical in the Mayfly’s mind something that should be protected in a way. Wow I'm starting to contemplate my need for the hive mind. I wonder if this is normal? I know the others explained it too me when they had to go to separation training but i never thought I would actually have to go through the actual experience.
Mayfly had been taken back to reality when she impacted something hard. When she opened her eyes she saw three small fillies were recovering from the crash. Aw fillies there just like the larve well except for the fact that there actually ponies and not hatchlings practicing there shape shifting. “Oh where so sorry for running in to you.” said the small unicorn. Her apology was quickly followed by her friends giving apologies as well. “Oh don't worry about me are you three ok?”
“Nothings broken so where fine.” said the orange pegasus.
“Common Crusaders we’ve got some crusading to do.” The three fillies started to run off when Mayfly stopped them.
“Whait what are you little hatch.. fillies up too? It must be important if you where going to fast that you didn't notice me.”
“Where on a crusade to find our cutie marks, I’m Applebloom, that's Scootaloo and this is Sweetiebell and to gather we are!!” The three fillies grouped up to to yell at the top of there lugs. “THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!!!” This made Mayfly stumble back a bit, but in her mind Mayfly was practically addicted to the sensation mainly due too her natural caretaker instincts. They really are like little hatchlings trying to find there place in the hive!! Oh but i still have to follow Pinkie Pie. Aphid doesn't really need my help and anyways is it not the duties of a caretaker to aide the young find there place in life.
“Well I guess its your lucky day, back where I'm from its my job to help young lar.. fillies and foals find there cast I mean special talent.”
The faces of the three fillies light up hope and excitement that was ended the pause ended when Sweetiebell finally asked “Are you sure you can help us Miss..?”
“Mayfly.” The caretaker added “Now come with me young ones we have a lot of work to do if we want to find your special talents.” This shouldn't be too hard i have been able to help plenty of changelings find there cast it cant be that different then ponies. Now I just need to find a secluded place to cocoon them for there meditation. Ponies use cocoons for meditation wright? O well, I will find out one way or another.

The argument between Firefly and Maggot had pretty much disinter grated into an all out brawl. Even a wounded and lazy warrior cast like Maggot can put up a fight if annoyed enough. The two twilight clones where pretty much destroying the library, throwing books, throwing each other at one point an owl was thrown to little effect.The fighting had led up too the point where the two Twilight copies where exhausted in the center of the library trying to continue the fight. Until a nock came at the front door, witch put both changelings into a bit of a panic.
“Just a minute!!” Called out Firefly “Maggot we can continue this latter you hide in this closet while I distract them.” Firefly pressed ed to shove Maggot into what she thought was another closet, in reality they where the stares to the basement of the building much to the warriors disappointment as he fell down the stares “Ow”. Maggot took a look at his surroundings from his spot on the floor. The room was like a lab from some old horror movie. “Well this place just screams mad scientist. Well guess I will just have to look around for that anti-changeling divice.” Maggot searched the lab to little success, then again he was kind of hopping that the machine was clearly labeled or on some sort of pedestal. “O well cant find it. Maybe i can just nap right here. Hey a phonograph maybe i can listen to some tones while I sleep.” Maggot approached the phonograph, but noted that it looked kind of weird, it was covered in electronics and antennas. ”Cant say I'm familiar with this model but it cant be that hard to figure out.”
Suddenly a purple flash came from behind him and he herd a voice yell to him. “Hold it right there Changeling.” Maggot turned and was shocked to see the people unicorn witch he was still disguised as glaring at him. “What your crazy I'm not a Changeling I'm your twin sister.” Oh by the qween`s silly crown please be dumb enough to believe that. The unicorn gave the changeling a confused look. “Um was that supposed to be convincing?”
“Well I don't have much experience with this sort of situation. I probably should have paid more attention in situations class. So since that didn't work time for plan B.” Twilight took a defencive stance. “Do you have any snacks down here? Also do you know how to turn this thing on? I want to listen to some music while I take my nap.”
Twilight's confusion returned as response to the response. “You want what?!”
“You know chips, cookies maybe some jus. Actually just the jus would be fine I'm more thirsty then hungry. O and do you have just the one record for this or is there more of a selection i can choose from. I`m in the mood for some smooth jazz.”
“Aren't you going to attack me?” “Well technically I should but I'm kind of injured at the moment and tired from fighting my friend upstairs. So no I`m not going to attack you unless i was at a major advantage in witch case i would escape or if there where more changelings here then i would pretend to fight you while they fought you so i could loot your kitchen for some snacks.”
Twilight simply stood there with her mouth gaping open attempting to proses what the Changeling had told her. She was about to ask him if he could repeat himself when Maggot interrupted her.
“Hold that thought can you give me directions to a washroom? I kind of haven't gone to one in two days so i kind of need to go.”

Firefly had just thrown Maggot into what she thought was a closet and quickly open the door. Six pony’s and one baby dragon entered The Library. Firefly instantly recognized Termite and the little dragon but she had no idea who the five mares where. She welcomed them all in making sure not to attempt to guess there names. While she did this she talked to Termite via the hive mind. Termite what are you doing here?!

She has an invention that can stop changelings so I knocked her out so me and Maggot could look for it. Wait a minute, how did you know the pony’s name?
Unlike you hatchlings I have been socializing with the ponies and not fighting them.
Good so you give me the info on these ponies so They believe I’m Twilight, so we can get rid of them and then search this place for the device!
Termite rolled his eyes and agreed to her plan mainly so that the other ponies didn't find out. This situation would not help his plans for a peacefully agreement with them.
“Twilight darling you seem a bit on edge.” A concerned Rarity asked witch the fake twilight quickly reassured.
“Oh Rarity I'm fine just eager to tell you about my plan. I have found in my research that changelings are repelled by...” Firefly had no idea what to say so she said the first thing that came to her mind. “ Lemons! There repelled by lemons just hang lemons over your door and they cant come in.” Firefly gave her most convincing smile.
Applejack gave Termite a look as if to say is that true. Witch Termite responded too with a shake of his head to signified that The Fake twilight was wrong.
“Ok then meeting over, now everyone go get as many lemons as you can and start handing them out.” Firefly was attempting to quickly shoving the ponies outside of the library. “ Now i need to talk to mister Termite in private for a bit so I will catch up with you girls latter.” She waved goodbye to the ponies who where giving her stares of confusion. When Applejack asked in a suspicious tone. “What do you want to talk to mister Termite about Twi?”

“O I know mister Termite from canterlot he used to be a guard there.” Replied the fake twilight. Applejack’s suspicion turned into a glare as she leaped onto the impostor yelling “I just neu you weren't the real Twilight!”
Rainbow Dash rushed back into the library shoving the farmer off the changeling. “AJ whats wrong with you?” All of her friends shared the same worried and confused looks.
The Farmer ignored her friends and turned her attention to Termite. “Y’all said you w’asent here to cause trouble I find one of your kind replacing ma friend!!!”
“This was the exact situation I was Trying to avoid.”

Applejack knows, I informed her so that I could make our stay here a bit more comfortable.
Well I guess that plan backfired but i think i can salvage this situation.
“Now Applejack I know your a little on edge about the changelings but there is no need too just start accusing ponies.”
Rarity put a comforting hoof on Applejack`s shoulder. “Twilight is right darling there is no need for theses baseless accusations.”
The door behind the group suddenly op pend and Maggot came out of it still in his Twilight disguise. “Hey Firefly we should really get out of here The real unicorn is awake and I don't think my distraction will last for very...” Maggot just noticed the other ponies in the room and simply waved his hoof “Uh... Hi everyponie ...I’m here twin sister.” The other changelings facehoofed.

Mayfly had just finished testing to see if the CMC where water barer cast. Needless to say the crusaders were not able to drink enough water to fill 3/4 of there body weight. So far the thee Crusaders had failed to pass a single of the 13 class assignments Mayfly would normally give to hatchlings. But she was used to it There where 24 different castes of changelings and it is expected for changelings to pass one test. “OK Crusaders next on the list is scout cas... cutie mark. Now do you know of a place where the terrain is rough and is hardly explored.”The three tierd fillies the had just exited Sweetiebell’s house where they had just used the washrooms after there water barer ordeal.
“Um Miss Mayfly could we take a break.” Asked a tierd Scootalo.
“I geuss we could take a break where do you want to relax?”
Sweetiebell instantly raised her hoof. “Oh oh I know we could go to the club house.”
“Yeah! Miss Mayfly y’all needs to come see our club house.”
“Too the clubhouse it is then.”
On the root to the club house Mayfly decided too strike up some conversation with the fillies. She had learnd that they where at the Canterlot wedding during the invasion. “But then those evil changelings showed up and recked everything but the princesses took care of them.” Scootaloo explained witch was responded with a shocked and angered Mayfly who responded with. “Hey just because changelings invaded the city doesn't mean there evil!!”
The Crusaders gave her a confused look. “ Um Miss Mayfly if there not evil, then what reason would there be too attack the city or replace the princesse?” Asked Sweetiebell.
This made Mayfly pause since she was a caretaker the reason for the invasion but she soon was able too put a reason together. “I bet the reason for the invation was for the Queen’s Council.”
“What in tarnation is the Queen’s Concil.” Asked the confused Applebloom
“Well you see each changeling hive has one queen, and before the end of the year each on tries to do something impressive to show off at the council meeting the queen with the most impressive accomplishment gets to have final say in the border agreements. Naturally Queen Crisalis was trying to show off her military skill by concurring another species.”
“That still sounds kind of evil.”Said Scootaloo.
“Well it may sound evil but being able to get a bigger territory at the council meeting would benefit her hive greatly, and anyways its like the changelings like to do invasions.”
“Wait a second Mayfly how do you know so much about changelings?” Asked Sweetiebell.
Oh no! Stupid Mayfly! I said too much. I have to come up with an excuse.
“Well... um you see I... Have a friend that is a changeling.”
“What!!!” Screamed the crusaders.
The Crusaders preceded to bombarded her with questions. Mayfly what have you gotten yourself into.
At the Crusaders club house Mayfly was prepared to give her lesson on changelings to the crusaders. “So Mayfly how did you become friends with a changeling?” Asked the young pegasus. This was the question Mayfly was dreading she had to make up a convincing story. She decided to go with a half truth.
“Well you know that I'm a caretaker right.” The fillies nodded. “Well you see when i was your age my caretaker brought us to a farm to see if we would be good harvesters. It seems that one of the farm hands was sick at home and a changeling decided to replace him to collect some love. I found him a bit suspicious so i followed him, lets just say i caught him changing forms.” The story she had told them was a reworked version of how she met Termite. She had found him bringing love he collected to the nursery. Normally only storage cast transported love around the hive but Termite loved visiting the new hatchlings. “he confessed to me what he was and made me promise not to tell anypony that he was a changeling. I would start to visit him when I noticed somepony was acting strangely . It usually meant it was him we quickly became good friends he is also the reason i found my cutie mark.” Mayfly was reminiscing in the memories even if she had to tweak them for her audience. She told them about how the hive mind worked and about how changelings found there casts was like finding a cutie mark. She was about to enter into what the different casts where when she was interrupted by Scootaloo. “Well I hope he wasn't at the invasion?” Applebloom was quick to respond “Of Course he wouldn't a changeling that nice musta refused to go.” “Yeah I bet he isn't even part of Chrysalis hive.” Added the unicorn.
“Well you would be wrong on both parts.” Needless to say but the fillies were a bit shocked by this. “Don't worry he didn't become evil or anything. He told me once a long time ago when I was small. That a changeling must always do what is best for the Hive and that means that the only opinions that matter are those of the queen and of the Hive Mind.” Mayfly frowned a bit at this. It was one of the facts about being a changeling she didn't like. She had gotten in trouble before for attempting to meddle in the business of the other casts it wasn't that her ideas were bad most were pretty good it was that it would distract her from her actual job sometimes.
“That doesn't seem very fair.” Stated the pegasus.
“I don’t think that rule is supposed to be fair.” Added Mayfly. “Well breaks over lets get to the scout test.”
Suddenly Aphid burst into the clubhouse. “Mayfly thank the queen I found you, the others seem to have gotten into trouble in town and...”Aphid finally noticed the three fillies in the room. “Um... Mayfly who are they?”
“Oh Aphid let me introduce you to the Cutie Mark Crusaders. This is Applebloom,Sweetie belle and Scootaloo.” She gestured to each one as she named them. “I was just telling them about changeling culture.”This caused Aphid’s eye to twitch.

“OK I’m sorry girls but I need to borrow Mayfly for a bit.”
“Wait if your friends are in trouble we could help.”Said the young unicorn.

“Pleeeeease!!!”The crusaders and Mayfly begged she had grown quite fond of the fillies.
“Mayfly you're supposed to be on my side of this...OH forget it they can come.”
“CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS! FRIEND RESCUERS! YAY!”
With that they all left for the library.

Back at the library things had degraded to the point where all three changelings were inside of a cage. While the elements of Harmony where interrogating them.
“So why do you even have a cage this big?” Asked Maggot as he took a seat in the cage.
“Where the ones asking the questions here changeling.”Yelled Rainbow Dash.
“Why are you in Ponyville?”Asked Twilight. “And Stop being disguised as me.”
Termite and Fire fly Both dropped their disguises, while Maggot simply continued to egg on his captors. “ I don’t know I kind of enjoy being twilight, I mean your voice is perfect for my routine. Hello everypony I'm Twilight and I live in a tree what's up with that.” He proceeded to laugh at his own joke, the only the only thing not rolling their eyes at the bad joke was Pinkie who apparently found it funny as well.
“Maggot please stop, it's embarrassing enough you got us captured.” Firefly said smacking the warrior on his head.
“Hey I’m injured.”Maggot whined as he changed back to his normal self. “And its not my fault we got captured you didn't get rid of them fast enough.”
“Oh no you don’t you're not pinning this on me. All I told you to do was to find the anti-changeling device but you decide to fight with me about who got to replace the pony.”
“Let’s just ignore those two for now i can answer all your questions.” Termite said with a sigh. How am I going to get you hatchlings out of this one.
Maggot and Firefly ignored what Maggot had said mainly due to the fact that they where busy arguing. The mane 6 moved over and crowded around Termites side of the cage.
“To answer your question about why we are here I will tell you what I told Applejack. We crashed near town after the invasion’s failure. One of my friends Maggot the changeling that's bandaged up is injured. Since we didn't collect any love during the invasion, he won’t be able to magically heal himself. Actually all we can do at the moment is change forms and use basic levitation spells. But back to the topic at hand me and my friends are simply here to passively absorb enough love to heal maggot and reconnect to the Hive so we can find our way home.”
After his explanation the mares had a huddled to converse about what the old changeling had told them. Then Termite noticed that there was no more arguing coming from behind him. He turned to see his fellow captives simply staring at him. Firefly then started the Hive mind conversation with.
Termite why did you tell them the truth, you even told them about how weak we are right now.
Its something you learn when you’ve been in the field as long as I have. Honesty is best way out of theses situations.

There was silence while they waited for the ponies too finish their conversation. When Firefly said out loud. “Termite what's going to happen to us?”
“Well last time I was capture the Griffins made me blind in one eye.” The younger changelings became nervous at this fact. “But theses are ponies there normally much more merciful. So the worst that could happen to us is life imprisonment.”
“LIFE IMPRISONMENT!!!” yelled the other captives Firefly was panicked and Maggot was surprisingly happy.
“Hey Hey You there ponies I'm really really sorry for replacing you and shoving you in a closet I was just scared of your anti-changeling device so if you let us go we promise never to come back ever again.” Begged Firefly. The Mane six was caught off guard by the sudden out burst.
“Don't listen to her, too her she is just stressed. We will be taking the life sentence please and thank you.” Both Ponies and Changelings looked at Maggot with confusion. “What? Prison is great you get free rooms and free meals sure you're not allowed to leave and you mite be treated like garbage but the positives outweigh the negatives.” Explained Maggot. his explanation was quickly responded with a facehoof from his friends.
“Well that won't matter yet I already sent a letter to the princess and she will be here tomorrow for your trial.” Said Twilight.

Meanwhile Mayfly , Aphid and the crusaders were looking through one of the library's windows.
“So let me get this straight you two are changelings and where spying on Twilight and her friends so we can find a way to save your changeling friends.” Said a shocked Scootaloo
“Thats wright Scootaloo. Sorry I didn't tell you earlier. Mainly because I wasn't allowed and because I didn't want to scare you girls.” Said Mayfly as she patted Scootaloo on the head to console her.
“Could you two give us a moment?” Asked Applebloom. When both changelings nodded the crusaders huddled together.
“What do you girls think should we trust`um.” Asked the earth pony
“No way we can trust them, there changelings. Mayfly already lied to us once and now they want us to help them save more changelings that your sisters and their friends caught.” Said Scootaloo. Sweetie belle then added her rebuttal.
“ I don't know Mayfly has been really nice to us and if she and her friends where evil wouldn't we have been ponynnaped and replaced by now.” The other crusaders nodded at that fact and the unicorn continued. “ With what she has told us about her people so far it seems that only their queen is a big meanie so if we help Mayfly`s friends were not helping anyone evil.”
“But we don't even know if Mayfly`s story is even true and what's stopping them from replacing us after we save their friends.” The pegasus retorted. After some thought Applebloom came up with an idea.
“Why don't we make them do somethin that would prove to us that, we can trust em.”
“What like a Pinkie Promise?” Asked Scootaloo
“Thats it! Changelings must have something like a Pinkie Promise we could use to make sure they not going to double cross us if we help them.” Said an excited Sweetie belle.
The crusaders broke there huddle and approached the fake ponies. The crusaders voiced their concerns and their solution to the problem. Aphid was the first to respond by first checking to see if anypony was around then said in a sinister tone.
“Works for me. I didn't want your help anyways but don't worry about keeping our secret. I have the perfect spell to solve that problem. I will just erase your memory but don't be scared you won't remember the pain.” Aphid gave a wicked grin and his eyes turned green as he was about to cast his spell on the three terrified fillies. His concentration was broken, when Mayfly`s hoof impacted his back and was pinning him to the ground. “What in queen`s name are you doing Mayfly!!!” yelled the now helpless and in pain scout.
“How dare you try and harm these young fillies. They have done nothing to harm you or me and you want to hurt them simply because they know. Well know this Aphid I would rather die than let you hurt them.” Scolded Mayfly. Aphid could not comprehend what was going on his friend was going to kill him over some ponies she had just met this afternoon. Aphid decided quickly to calm himself down and see if he could discern what it wrong with Mayfly.
“Ok, Mayfly I promise not to hurt the crusaders but i need you to stop crushing me so we can resolve this issue and return to the task of saving our friends.” Mayfly released Aphid and she moved besides the crusaders.
“Good but since you promised not to hurt them then there is no problem to solve.”
“But there is Mayfly. Where Clutch Mates we have been together since we first hatched and I know you would never hurt me or pretty much anything, thats why I think there is somthing wrong.”
“Wait what's a Clutchmate?” Asked the pegasus crusader
“Oh, right I never got to that part in the lesson. Well a Clutchmate is a changeling that were born in the same clutch of eggs. Aphid and I as well as two of our three friends that have been captured are all Clutch Mates. Actually it's kind of weird me and my friends where the smallest clutch in 45 generations. But thats besides the point, I guess the easiest way to describe a Clutch mate too a pony is like being brother and sister.”
“Wait a second. You were giving them lessons. Oh! No! Mayfly you bonded with them! I can't believe I didn't notice it when you first mentioned it.” Aphid started passing and rambling to himself about how this could possibly get any worse.
“Is he always like this?” Asked Applebloom.
“Well the only time I have seen him do this before is when Maggot beat him in chess he only stopped when Maggot confessed that he cheated. I should probably stop him thought.” Mayfly moved to comfort the panicked scout class. “Hey hey its ok there is no need to panic i'm still the old Mayfly I just had this surge of adrenalin when you threatened the crusaders.” At this point the caretaker had the scout wrapped in her front hooves as if she were cradling a larva.
“Mayfly I'm only 3 seconds younger than you this doesn't mean you can treat me like a hatchling. Also that adrenalin you felt is because you attached yourself to the crusaders.”
“What do you mean by she has attached herself to us?” A concerned Sweetie belle asked.
“Well normally a caretaker like Mayfly never leaves the hive because her job is to raise and protect the hatchlings, um baby changelings. Since she is separated from the hive mind and the fact that she is nowhere near the hive her natural changeling instincts needed something to protect and nurture. Heres where the problem is, her instinct consider you fillies as the closest thing to hatchlings. So she may have started out as just wanting to help you three but now she is in full blown caretaker mood.”
“I can control myself. Anyways we have more pressing matters at hoof, we need too save the others.”
“Well good thing I'm able to multitask, because during my breakdown I was able to come up with a plan and I think the crusaders can help. Girls would it be possible for you too to get four pairs of earplugs and a place to stay the night.”
“Yah we can do that.” Said Scootaloo.
The crusaders brought the two changelings too the clubhouse for the night. Aphid`s plan would take place tomorrow during the trial. Although the crusaders and Mayfly voiced some concerns. Aphid reassured them that his plan would work.

The town center had been converted into a makeshift courtroom. Princess Celestia, Shining Armour and Cadence were present to pass judgment on the captured changelings. Twilight placed the cage containing the three prisoners in front of where the royals were standing. Firefly was still in a panicked state while Maggot had yet to wake up and Termite was simply waiting to get this overwith. Meanwhile in the crowd Aphid was with the crusaders waiting for Mayfly to start the plan.
“Y`all are sure this is going to work?” Asked Applebloom
“Well there is a slim chance that it won't work but lets not think about it and put on your earplugs.”
The Princess Celestia started the trial with a recounting of the events at Canterlot and the events that led to the capture of the changelings. She was about to pass her sentencing when Firefly interrupted.
“WAIT! you can't just sentence us like that don`t we get a chance to defend ourselves? I mean you can't even prove that we were even at the invasion.”
“Actually they do have proof we told them when we got captured.” Explained Maggot.
“Maggot you might want to go to jail just so that you can be lazy for the rest of your life, but some of us have a job we actually enjoy doing and a life we don't want to waste looked up. Wright Termite.”
“Well...”
“You can't be serious. Your taking his side.”
“So far things have been much better than the time I was captured by the griffin kingdom.”
Celestia rolled her eyes at their ridiculous conversation. “If all the interruptions are over with. We can proceed with the sentencing.”
At this moment Mayfly jumped from the audience in between the ponies and the cage of changelings. “Stop in the name of... Um no I that won't work, wait I will try again.” She preceded to go back into the crowed and proceeded to jump back out. “Never fear your Friendly neighbourhood... No wait that doesn't work either since I don't actually live here one more try.” Again she returned to the crowed. Rainbow Dash approached the captive changelings to ask. “Is she always like that?”
“Well she doesn't normally leave the hive so this is her first time in this situation.” Explained Termite.
“Stop right there criminal scum! No I can't call the royals of Equestria criminal scum that is completely rude of me. Ok one more try.”
“Can somepony please stop her from interrupting.” Asked Celestia. This was supposed to be a quick proceeding.
“Ok you know what forget the intro my name is Mayfly and I`m going to...to...” Mayfly froze in place. Incapable to move as soon as she noticed who she was staring at three of the rulers and the famous elements of Harmony.
Back in the crowd Aphid was watching the situation unfold. Him and the crusaders had removed their ear plugs during Mayfly`s second attempt.
“Ah don't think this is how it was suppose t`ah happen.” noted Applebloom.
“Let me handle this.” Said Aphid in an annoyed tone as he started to fly towards his petrified friend, as he did so he called back to the Crusaders. “And put your ear plugs back in!”
The scout let his disguise down and landed in between the Royals and the terrified caretaker. He gave the royals a respectful bow before addressing them. “If you will excuse me, your Majesties but this will only take a few moments.” He then turned to Mayfly. “ Ok, Mayfly , forget that all the ponies are here and just do what you would do at the hive and sing the winter song.” Mayfly seemed to snap out of her stupor.
“Oh , yeah sorry.” with that Aphid put his earplugs in and Mayfly started to sing. The song sounded like a mix of siren and a cricket and lasted for about 30 seconds. When Mayfly stopped she looked to see only confused faces on the ponies and all of her changeling friends were asleep including Aphid. I guess he didn't put his ear plugs in properly. She then noticed that she was surrounded by the very angry looking elements of Harmony. “Well would you look at that. It didn't work. Ha ha. I guess ponies don't hibernate during the winter. Ha ha. Um well If it wouldn't be too much trouble I will just gather my sleeping friends and be out of your carapace.”
“Fat chance changeling.” said Rainbow as the elements began to close in their circle.
“I was afraid you would say something like that.” Oh the others are going to be so disappointed when they wake up.

The changeling were quickly removed from the scene. It seems that Celestia felt that holding this sentencing publicly was a mistake. The Crusaders noticing that Mayfly had been captured secretly followed the royals and elements of harmony to the library. The crowd of confused ponies quickly dispersed back to their homes except for four mares Lyra, Bonbon, Berry Punch and Colgate.
“We are lucky the winter song only affects changelings from your own hive or this would have punched a hole in my plan.” Said Colgate turning towards the other mares.
“An what exactly is your plan.” Asked Bonbon with a Scottish accent.
“Patients, we can't just talk about it out here and don't use your actual voice use the voice of the pony. We will discuss the details of my plan.”
“WHAT! Why is it we always go wit yer plan an why can't we talks about it the day but we can talk about it on the morn.”
“Accent.” All the mares said in a monotone voice.
“Sorry I just can't help it.”
“But *sigh* she does have a point.” Said Berry between sighs. “How *sigh* do we know your plan won't get us in trouble with the council like last time.”
“Well then if this is how you all feel Then we shall return to my pony`s house and discuss the plan earlier than I wished.” With that they all began walking towards Colgate`s house except for one. Lyra had been looking at a flower during the entire conversation, she hadn't even noticed that they leaft until she looked up to say “Have you girls ever seen such a pretty ... Hey where did everyone go. Oh wait in Equestria. WHERE DID EVERYPONY GO! Much better.” She then noticed that she was alone again and decided to go home.

Inside of Colgate`s house three out of the four impostors had gathered around the dining room table. “Colegate” positioned herself at the head of the table “Well then lets begin with role call.” the other ponies rolled their eyes but complied. “Queen Locust” “Present” said Bonbon. She then changed into her normal form, she looked like a copy of Chrysalis except for the fact that her mane was shorter it was also colored bright red like her tail, wings and carapace. “Queen Cicada” “Here” said “Berry Punch” as she changed into her normal form. Along with Locust, Cicada looked alot like Chrysalis except or her mane and coloration. Cicada`s mane was very long it covered most of her face, only her snout and eyes could be seen peeking through the membrane like hair. The coloration of her carapace, hair and wings where snow white. She also seemed to be half asleep.
“Queen Springtail....ahg where is Springtail?” As if on cue “Lyra” opened the front door yelling “I'M HOME!!!...Oh wait a second this isn't my house. Locust where is our house?”
“Springtail close that door and take a seat at the table where doing roll call!” Called “Colegate”
“Oh ok sure thing Queen Weevil” she happily replied while changing into her normal form. Queen Springtail`s coloration was a bright blinding yellow her mane also curdled upwards.
“So now that we're done with roll call I can inform you of the reason we are here in the first place.” Explained Queen Weevil as she dropped her Colegate disguise. Weevil was almost a carbon copy of chrysalis if it weren't for the fact that her colors were a lime green opposed to Chrysalis ghostly blue. “As you all know Queen Chrysalis is the current high queen due to her presentation of military prowess in her failed invasion of the gryphon Kingdom 100 years ago. For this centennials presentation she attempted to conquer Canterlot Equestria Capital.”
“Well she didn't succeed so what's the big deal.” Stated Queen Springtail.
“The big deal is that she came very close to winning since victory would have been in violation of the Treaty of Arthropoda, which states the a queen cannot officially conquer any territory belonging to other races. The reason her failure is a victory is the fact that equestria has so much love in it all the other queens are too afraid to attempt to cover up her invasion making sure that only chrysalis`s hive will be able to feed here. Thereby making her more likely to be re-elected as high queen this year.”
“Then why are we here? *Sigh* Where the border queens are hives have megger amounts of love compared to the other queens.*sigh*” Stated the sleepy Queen Cicada.
“Thats exactly my point. We will never have a chance at being high queen with where our Hives are located and I have come into possession of some information that if it proves to be true may be able to show that Chrysalis is violating the Treaty of Arthropoda.”
“An what would that be?” Asked Queen Locust.
“Ah my dear Locust, will be revealed in due time. But for the moment, if you have noticed Shining Armour has put up one of his shield over Ponyville due to there new prisoners. I would actually like to double check my information with those prisoners, for me to be able to complete that task I need abit of a distraction. Locust what would your devastator casts be able to break that magic shield.”
