A New World

I woke up to the sound of metal dinging. It didn't help the insane headache I had. Neither did the blaring sunlight above me.

After gathering my senses I sprang up, ready for action. After locating the sound of the clanging metal I flew to it. There was a pony fighting a skeleton looking thing. They both looked kinda. . .blocky. And the pony didn't really look like a pony either. He was standing on his two hind legs and, by the looks of it, was completely hairless besides his dark brown mane.

By the time I took in the sight, the weird looking pony had slain the skeleton and was picking up something off of the ground. He started to walk away, not noticing me standing close to a near by tree.

He looks kinda dangerous. I thought as I watched him walk off. But I could totally take him down if I needed to. I trotted after him, making sure to keep my distance. But what does Twibutt always say? Think before you act? Pfft. Why should I listen to that egghead? She's the one who teleported me to some weird far off land!

Kicking a hoof into the ground I continued to watch the pony closely. Well, he's probably not a pony. I don't know anypony who can walk on their hind legs for this long. . .except Lyra. The creature looked up at the sun, raising an arm to wipe his face; it was getting hot out there.

But I followed him through the heat, watching intently as he explored his surroundings. I did the same, finding that everything in this weird world was made out of blocks. Even the animals! This caused me to look down at my own hooves. I was square as well.

This discovery made me gasp.

Loudly.

The non-pony turned around and locked his eyes on me. He seemed puzzled, but made no move to advance. I didn't move either for fear that he might charge at me.

Finally, after what seemed like ages, he spoke. His voice was deep and rusty, "What are you?" his question almost sounded as if he was disgusted.

"I'm Rainbow Dash, The Rainbow Dash to be exact!" I answered with a hint of anger. "And what would you happen to be?"

He seemed to regain some sense of formality, because he bowed his head and said, "S-sorry, that came out wrong. What I meant to say was that I've never seen any mob like you. . ." he let the sentence drop, fiddling with some sort of tool hung at his waist.

His sudden timidness shocked me but I quickly recovered. "It's okay." He's not a threat. I made the mental note to myself.

"Where did you come from?" he asked to fill the silence. He took a few cautious steps forward.

I took a few steps forward as well. "I'm from a place called Equestria. My friend Twilight Sparkle teleported me here by mistake. . .where am I exactly?"

"A world called Minecraft, Rainbow Dash." a small smile appeared on his lips. "I'm sorry about your mishap. Things like that happen all the time here too. Except we don't go to different worlds."

"Huh."

My stomach groaned at me, begging for food.

The non-pony closed the space between us. "You must be hungry." He looked up at the sun. "We should probably head home anyways. . .unless you want to go off on your own. People don't really like teaming up here, so don't feel bad leaving me by myself."

"No no!" I leaned forward for a split second before recoiling, "I-I mean. . .I'd probably be safer with you."

The creature only nodded and started to walk back the way he had came. "Alright. But we need to hurry before the Creepers start to spawn."

"Creepers?" I asked as I trotted up to his side.

"I'll explain on the way."

A Way Home

I watched as Steve, My new human friend, cooked up some steaks in a furnace. I sat quietly on a couch, happily nibbling at some hay. I was strangely content that she was now in a world full of blocks and different rules of physics. But she still hoped that either her or Twilight would find a way for her to get back home. She missed her mare friends; it had been three days since she ended up in Minecraft.

Steve finally stirred from his position on the floor and moved the meat around in the heated cube. He glanced over at me for a brief moment. "Hey, Dash." he said to get my attention.

I looked up from my meal, not minding the new nickname. "What is it Steve?"

"You know how i was gone all day yesterday? Well, I went into the city up north. I was doing some research at the library there and. . .I think I might know how to get you back home."

I left my food to fly over to the man. "Really!?" My heart felt as if it was going to explode from sheer joy.

Steve nodded. "I stumbled upon it by accident really. I was looking up things on the Enderdragon for future reference. There might be a special portal in the End."

"The End?"

He blinked. "I haven't told you about the End? Hm." he grabbed his plate off of the top of the furnace and put his steaks on it. "Would you like to learn about it?"

I flew back over to the couch, sitting in my prior position. "Is it boring?"

"I don't think it is." he sat next to me, picking up a piece of meat with his hands.

Steve had some weird habits, like eating with his hands. Granted, we ponies don't usually eat with silverware, but from what Lyra has said about the humans they use silverware a lot.

"Go on then." I sat and listened carefully.

Steve cleared his throat. "The End is the final test of a Minecraftian's life. It is rumored that an Enderdragon lives there, waiting for poor helpless humans to wander into it's paws. Enderman are all over the landscape, making the mission that much harder. And the pillars. . ." he shivers and takes another bite of his food.

"Sounds awesome! Can we go?" My heart starts thumping with excitement.

"Whoa whoa, are you serious?" he looks at me with concern. "I'm not trying to offend you Dash, but. . .you're not as. . ." his fingers snapped together as he tried to find the words, "as. . .able to fight like a human is. I-I mean. . .maybe you are in Equestria but the rules are different here. We haven't taken time to test your abilities yet."

My cheeks burned with anger as I stood up. "Then lets go test them."

"Now?"

"Now."

He seemed surprised at my sudden suggestion. "Wow Dash. . .I didn't know you were so eager."

I took a moment to think. I have been really laid back since I was zapped here. "Well, then you haven't the real Rainbow Dash. Come on slow poke!" I said on my way to the front door.

The feeling of adrenaline rushing through my body was all to familiar to me. Grass brushed against my square hooves as I took my stance at the top of a cliff. Looking over the edge made my stomach drop.

And I loved it.

"You ready for a show, Steve?!" I called down to him.

"Go for it Dash!" I thought I saw a small smile on his face as he waved to me.

Nodding, I took a small step back. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. The only sound was the pounding of my heart in my ears and the instinct I had since the day I was born: Fly.

I charged forward without a second thought. With the edge of the cliff fast approaching, I sprung my wings out to my side.

"Aha!" A laugh escaped me as I fell into a free fall.

I think Steve thought I tripped, because he screamed, "Rainbow!" in a worried tone as I fell.

Don't worry doofis, I'll be fine. I thought to myself. I'm mother bucking Rainbow Dash!

A boom. And then an array of colors filled the sky.

"Holy Herobrine! Wow!" Steve was giggling like a little girl as I landed. "H-How did you do that? It was. . .awesome."

"So, any other abilities you want me to show you?" Cockiness came through in my tone.

Shaking his head, she said "No no, your speed is just what we'll need to distract the dragon."

"Perfect, then lets get me home!"
