It was a nice afternoon in Ponyville and Dash, Pinkie, Applejack, Rarity, and Twilight was at Sugarcube Cafe. "I wonder why Fluttershy is taking so long to get here.." Twilight said, sighing.
"She's only 5 minutes late, chill Twi!" Dash said, putting her back hooves on top of the counter.
Applejack raised her hoof and shoved Rainbow's hooves down, resulting in Dash falling from her stool. "Ow!" She chirped from the ground, flapping her wings to pick her up and sat back down.
"Sorry I'm late everypony.." Fluttershy said happily, as she walked into the cafe."It's all cool Flutters," Dash called. "So what is it you wanted to show us?"
"Oh!!" Fluttershy squealed excitedly." I got an amazing new pet!! He's fantastic!!"
"So! Wha'd ya get?! Did you get a cat? A fish? A little birde that sings?! Huh? Huh?" Pinkie squeaked, bouncing around.
"Pinkie, darling, let Fluttershy speak please." Rarity said.
"But I wanna know what she got!!!" Pinkie wailed.
"Oh!! You guys are going to love him!!" Fluttershy said, smiling excitedly. She then held out her hoof to she them the creature.
The creature was small. Very small. It was black with eight legs and eight eyes. Fluttershy had gotten a spider.
"Isn't he amazing?!" Fluttershy said happily," His name is Webster!"
The look on everyponies face is brilliant.
"Fluttershy, dear, is that an.. arachnid? As in, a spider?" Rarity looked doubtfully unassured of her safety.
"Yes! But Webster is a very special spider. He is very kind and is actually very getting rid of more harmful insects." Fluttershy said, her smile still wide and excited.
"Cool!! It's a spider!!!!!" Pinkie said, grinning and bouncing up and down even more than before, inspecting the little spider.
"Well, that's a nice spider you got there Fluttershy." Twilight said, studying the little arachnid on Fluttershy's hoof.
" I mean, If ya like em, it's ah cool little creature!" AJ said, looking at it, then going back to looking at the counter."
But Rainbow Dash didn't say anything. She stared, wide eyes at the spider.
"What do you think Rainbow?" Twilight said, finally looking over at their cyan, Pegasus friend.
"It's. uh.. Cool! I.. Um.. Uh gotta.. Clouds.. Weather.. I gotta dash see ya!!" I called, electric flying out the door and away.
"I wonder what that was all about.." Fluttershy said, her smile fading a bit, now looking worriedly at the door. "I've never see Dash act that way before. It was.. Weird.." Twilight said, thinking.
"Do you think.. Maybe someone should go find out what's wrong?" Fluttershy asked.
"That's a good idea, darling. Maybe you should go find out." Rarity said, cocking her head.
" I uh.. Guess I could do it.." Mumbled Fluttershy. She was not good at pestering ponies and she frankly wished she hadn't suggested it. "Do you guys mind watching Webster while I go out to find her?"
"No problem sugarcube, we'll take good care of y'all's new spider!" AJ said enthusiastically.
"Oh, alright. I'll come back to get him soon." Fluttershy said, softly flapping her wings and flying away to find Rainbow Dash.
Fluttershy trotted through the streets of Ponyville, towards the outskirts of town, where Rainbow Dash's cloud house was. She was a little nervous about trying to talk to Rainbow about how she had acted. The yellow Pegasus mare was also confused, she had known Rainbow Dash since they were just fillies, and she never in their time together had she seen Rainbow act so strange.
Fluttershy arrived at the bottom, below Rainbow's home. "Well," she sighed, "here goes nothing." And she flapped her wings, rising into the air, up to the cloud. She reached the home in a few minutes, standing at the door, feeling quite nervous. The mare folded her wings into their postion by her sides, and after a moment of contemplating what she would say to the cyan Pegasus, knocked her hoof on the door.
She waited a few moments, there was no answer.
Feeling a bit more nervous, she timidly knocked again. This time, the door slowly opened a little, the blue Pegasus peeked out.
"Oh.. Uh, hiya Fluttershy," piped up Rainbow, seeming still nervous and jumpy, "whatcha need?"
"Hello Rainbow," Fluttershy said softly, giving a small smile, "Can I come in?"
"Uh.. Sure.." Rainbow Dash squeaked, "say, do you have that.. Uh, spider, with you?"
"No, I left Webster with the girls at Sugar Cube Corner.." The yellow mare told the fast flying Pegasus, "Why do you ask?"
"Oh! Uh, no reason really, I was just wondering where the little guy was," she gave an awkward smile, opening the door a bit more and stepped aside to allow Fluttershy to come in.
Fluttershy walked into the mare's home, looking around a bit and sitting down on a plush blue and white loveseat. Rainbow Dash soon joined her, sitting aross from her on a matching chair on the other side of a little white painted wood coffee table.
"So why'd you run out on us earlier when I showed up with Webster?" Fluttershy said, looking at the blue mare, wide-eyed.
"Oh, I.. Uh, um..." Rainbow stuttered, looking nervous and shocked, "I um..."
"You're afraid of spiders, aren't you, Rainbow?" Fluttershy said with a small, but solemn smile.
