Twilight must travel back to Canterlot High School in order to stop a new student named Discord from wreaking havoc and causing more disharmony between her friends.
The portal to the high school in another world of Equestria closed after Twilight Sparkle and Spike made it back to their world and closed for another 30 moons. Now, two and a half years later, the portal opens once again and out of it comes, Twilight...? What? She already made it back didn't she?
It turns out that the Twilight from the other world asked Twilight to save the school from turning into a wasteland filled with miserable people that don't care about friendship.
And to make matters worse, she once again has a time limit. She has to save the school, and get back to her world before the portal closes for another 30 moons, or she will be stuck in that world forever, and that is something she can't let happen.
Two and a half years ago, Twilight Sparkle went to a human world to retrieve her crown, which was also the Element of Magic which had its magical element in its tip.
After returning home safely, she quickly put that entire incident behind her.
Little did she know, that her time in that place she had never thought of returning to, wasn't quite finished yet.
Now, after 30 moons of peace and quiet, she once again visits her sister in law's kingdom to get a break from all her royal business back in Ponyville.
Equestrian train; Destination: Crystal Empire; June 1st, 1003
"I'm so happy that I'm going to be visiting my sister in law for the first time in months!" exclaimed Twilight as she and her 5 friends, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy were finally on their way to the crystal empire to finally get some relaxation from saving Equestria many time in the past, and almost never getting to spend time with each other as friends.
"Oh, I'm sure you and your sister will be having the most divine of times," said Rarity.
"This will definitely be 20% cooler than the last time we tried to have a settle visit in the crystal empire," said Rainbow Dash.
"Um, Rainbow?" Fluttershy asked quietly in her seat, "Could you possibly um, not remind us all of that tragic event that happened when we helped with winter wrap up 3 months ago?"
"Ah agree with Fluttershy on that one," said Applejack, who was calm sitting in a seat across from hers, "we all don't need to be reminded of that tragic event."
"What!!?" exclaimed a certain pink pony sitting across the cabin a few seats back. "Why would you all want to forget that super most fantastic thing that ever happened in our lives?"
"Because Pinkie Pie, we all don't want to remember that time ever again," said Applejack.
"But what about the time---"
"No!" they all said at the same time before Pinkie could finish her sentence.
"Oh all right," she replied as the group continued in silence until they reached the Crystal Empire.
Crystal Castle
When the group met up with Cadence, she and Twilight went along to catch up, while the others went to see their rooms they were staying in.
As it grew darker, they decided that they should continue catching up tomorrow.
But what none of them knew , that a certain mirror's powers had returned, and were already in action.
The mirror began shimmering until a pony came through the side in the Crystal Empire. She seemed lost when she took a look at her surroundings, and did the only thing she could do at that point, walked to the closest door, and went right on through.
The mare took in the surroundings through the door carefully, noticing every detail she could possibly take in. After deciding that she was in a castle, she remembered the reason she came to this new and strange place.
She had to find her.
Crystal Castle June 1st 1003
She wandered around the castle, almost aimlessly as she looked into different rooms, trying to find the one person who could possibly save her world. She had decided to try and avoid the guards, sense she wasn't supposed to be here in the first place.
She would almost consider herself as a ninja, because she made the least amount of noise possible, and was never spotted by any of the guards.
Well, almost none of them anyway.
The guard was guarding the the throne room when he spotted the mare in the dark. he then loudly asked, "Who's there?"
The mare, realizing she had been spotted, started to dash to a hiding place, but it was of no use sense the hallway was really large and the doors were completely sealed off, now that the guard had seen her. After seeing that she had nowhere to go , started shaking in fear while the guard approached her.
The guard recognized the mare as he shone his horn's light upon her and said, "Princess Twilight? What are you doing out of your room?"
Princess Twilight's Room June 1st 1003
Twilight just had the best day of her life. She visited her sister in law, got a warm bath at the spa, and one of the most comfortable beds in Equestria! She way just finished talking with Spike when she heard a rapping at her door, and a voice calling out, "Spike can you come and open the door?" Judging from the deep, male voice, she could tell it was one of the castle guards, but why had he asked for Spike to open the door? She could open it just as well as he could, and started doing so because Spike was fast asleep. What she saw on the other side of the door was something she would have never expected to ever see in her life.
5 minutes earlier in the Hallway to the Throne Room
"I-I got lost looking for m-my room," "Twilight" had told the guard right before asking if she could get an escort to her room.
The guard then went out of his way to escort her to the room she was supposed to be in all night. When they reached the room, it just so happened to be locked tight and only open able with a special key, or from the inside.
Neither of them had a key, due to safety reasons and "Twilight" claiming she left it in the room earlier that day.
The guard then realized that Spike might have been in the room and knocked on the door to call out to him to open the door. When the door did open, it wasn't Spike that answered the door, it was Twilight Sparkle, the 4th princess of Equestria and right where she was supposed to be.
Twilight's room June 1st 1003
The guard was so shocked by this that he passed out on the floor in front of both of the Princesses he saw.
Twilight, the one in the room, instead asked with a worried expression, "W-who are you?"
The other Twilight responded, not with a direct answer but saying, "There isn't time for that Twilight," she said "You must come with me before its too late!"
"I'm not going any where until I get some answers to who you are, where you came from, and why do you need my help?" Twilight said to her supposed double in a very harsh and commanding voice. "You tell me who are or I'm not going anywhere!"
The other Twilight sighed and said, "Alright, I'll tell you everything. My name is Twilight Sparkle, I am from the world on the other side of the mirror, which is in peril and is in desperate need of your help if it means to survive."
Twilight made a look, a very confused look and asked, "What Mirror? I don't remember a mirror leading to another world. And how in Equestria can you be Twilight Sparkle?!? I'm Twilight Sparkle!"
She nearly screamed at her double with that last part who only replied, "Two and a half years ago, you went on a journey to retrieve your crown from Sunset Shimmer, who had planed to use it for evil but was stopped by you, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack. I am the Twilight Sparkle that went to another school while you were at Canterlot High School."
Twilight could only stare in non-belief. She had completely forgotten about the mirror that led her to Canterlot High to retrieve her crown. "But I thought the mirror only opened up every 30 moons, how is it working?"
The other Twilight took a second to reply, and said, "Really Twilight, two and a half years is 30 moons."
"Oh"
"Either way, that's not important. The important thing is that my world is in danger and you are the only one who can save it!" the other twilight said to herself.
"Oh yea, I forgot about that problem I'll Just leave a no-- wait a second, what kind of threat are you up against?"
"Well, about a year ago, a new student appeared at the school and started making everyone miserable. Everyone started feeling miserable enough to be even going to school anymore. Well, everyone but your friends became miserable. They always stayed together, did everything together, stuff like that. Anyway no matter how hard the new kid tried, he couldn't break up their friendship, and everyone started feeling a lot better. They all called it the magic of friendship, which I never understood before that moment. They always looked out for me specifically, at the time I didn't know why they would even bother with someone like me. I was a new student that joined the school 3 months prior to when the other new kid showed up. When I first arrived, everyone was treating me like I was someone special, which I wasn't by the way. Anyway, that is a story for another time I'm afraid, but right now, we need to get you and your crown to the other world before it is too late!"
The Mirror Room June 1st 1003
As they reached the room with the mirror, Twilight could only help but wonder. Would her friends get her message, will they understand, would they--.
She never got to finish that last thought before the other Twilight said, "We're here."
Twilight then realized something what was the new kid's name? Right before journeying to the other world, she asked for an answer.
The other Twilight frowned and said in a very quiet voice, "Discord."
Spike was having one of the best naps he could ever think of. There were no noises, no distractions, and most importantly, no Twilight.
Wait, what?
Spike knew Twilight, and sense he knew her, she should be worrying about how her visit with Cadence was going, or how she wasn't going to get enough sleep by worrying too much.
"Twilight?" he called out, but it seemed like nopony was even in the room with him. He then decided to look around for anything that might provide a clue about where she was. He eventually found a note on her bed, and if it wasn't any more obvious, addressed to him.
The note read: Dear Spike, I have just been visited by myself from the dimension that we traveled to together two and a half years ago. Once you get this note I will most likely have already gone to Canterlot High once again to help out a problem that only I can solve. Although, I wish for you to come with me. I would have woken you up, but you never liked it when I woke you up.
And I still don't, Spike thought to himself as he continued reading.
I want you to inform the others of this, but just like last time, they can't come. It could mess up the time stream and make it impossible to complete this task. Tell Princess Cadence that I am very sorry about this, but I promise to return home once this disaster is behind us. Again, I want you and you alone to come and help me with this task. Be sure to tell the others about this and I promise to make it up to them. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle.
"Stupid Twilight," he said as he went to tell the others about the note.
Canterlot High's Portal to Equestria June 1st 2013
Twilight knew this was a bad idea. She had to travel to another world, defeat a new student named Discord, and get back to her world before the portal closed on itself in less than 3 days. The main reason she decided to come was because her other dimensional self said they all needed her help to beat Discord.
Once her vision came into focus, she looked down at herself, and to her surprise, was back in the human form she took when she first entered the portal 30 moons ago.
She was back in the world she never hoped to return.
Mirror Room June 1st 1003
After Spike brought together all of Twilight's friends, he read them the note. After finishing, everypony else sat in silence, thinking about what to make of the note.
Rainbow Dash was the first to speak, saying, "So, what happens next?" she asked.
Applejack shrugged and said, "Ah don't know Rainbow, the most we can do is wait for her to return like last time."
"But she needs our help!" Rarity complained, "We should go in after her and help out with the problem she is in."
"Yeah!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie, "Then I can throw a party for every new pony that we meet there!"
"No," Cadence replied, "you all heard what she wrote, if anypony else tags along, it could create a dimensional rift, and she might never be able to return home."
"Well...," said Fluttershy, "she did ask Spike to come and help her with the problem she is in. Maybe she had a good reason to ask Spike to come with her."
"I agree with Fluttershy on this one," said Rainbow Dash, "I'm all ok with Spike going and all that, but Spike, can you promise us one thing?"
"Sure," he replied, "what is it?"
"Can you promise us you'll make sure that Twilight will come right home with you after all this is over?"
Spike thought for a moment before replying, "Yes, Rainbow, I promise to make sure she returns with me," he said as he started to step through the portal and onto the human world.
After Spike walked through the portal, Rainbow Dash called out to everyone saying, "Well, that's that. Now, does anypony know if the next Daring Do is in this castle's library?"
Canterlot High school June 1st 2013
It took an hour, but Twilight finally once again got used to her human body. When she was done with that, she went into the school to find out where everypony - I mean - everybody was.
She found herself in the cafeteria right before her stomach growled. And if by coincidence, the lunch bell ringed right about then. When everyone came in the lunch room, they all looked, grey. No one talked to each other, they tried not to sit next to each other, and worse of all, no one seemed like they were friends.
She started thinking the worst until she saw 7 friends sitting next to each other.
She recognized 6 of them, they were the other Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie from this dimension. The 7eventh was a total mystery, seriously, she didn't recognize her at all.
The other Twilight saw that her interdimensional self was looking in their direction and beckoned for her to come over.
As soon as she sat down, Applejack saw her and said, "What in tarnation is going on around here?"
"There can't be two Twilights, right?" said Rainbow Dash.
"Um...," Fluttershy said, "Would someone mind explaining why there is two Twilights in the cafeteria right now?"
"I think I can explain what is going on," said the mysterious 7th friend, who drew all the attention at the table to her. She spoke to Twilight from the pony world next, "You may not recognize me Twilight, but I am Sunset Shimmer."
Canterlot High's portal to Equestria June 1st 2013
Spike took a look at his surroundings. It looked joust like he remembered it. Big, lots of windows, and full of humans.
After remembering what he came here for, he started to look for Twilight, but remembered that he didn't know where to begin looking. Shrugging off his thoughts, he started to make his way into the school, being very careful not to be noticed by anyone.
He got lost quickly, forgetting which way he had been and had not been. Furious, he decided to sit down out of sight of everyone. He sat still until he heard a familiar voice saying, "Lets go someplace we can talk quietly."
He would have recognized that voice anywhere, the voice of Twilight Sparkle.
Study Hall June 1st 2013
Twilight and her friends had left the cafeteria and went to the study hall to talk about the current situation. Twilight then told them the story of how their Twilight had convinced her to come here and stop Discord's reign over the school. After she finished her story, A dog came up to the other Twilight and tried to get her attention. The other Twilight looked down at the dog and said, "What is my dog spike doing here?"
Unexpectedly, the dog spoke saying, "Don't you recognize me?"
"AH!" the other Twilight screamed as she pushed the dog away, enough for Twilight to see him.
"Spike? Is that you?" she said to the dog. Spike the dog looked over and confusion.
He then spoke again, saying, "Well, this is just weird. I have to deal with two Twilights now."
Applejack stood up and said, "Hey, ah recognize you. You spoke in front of us in Rarity's Carousel Boutique when Pinkie here guessed at where Twilight came from."
"Yup, that's me." He replied.
Twilight couldn't help but smile at the situation, until she noticed a mean little kid with a weird fashion sense walking over toward them. She curiously asked when she realized who that could be, "Hey, is that kid over there who I think it is?"
The others looked over in the direction he was coming from, and all of them replied, "Yup, that kid there is the one known as Discord."
Twilight lived a happy life. She had friends, family, a great teacher, and a home.
But after last night's events, she doubted that her life would ever be the same again.
Study hall June 1st 2013
The kid named Discord started walking toward these 8 friends in the study hall.
Twilight, realizing that he was coming closer, jumped behind a bookshelf so that she wouldn't be seen with her interdimensional self.
When Discord drew close, he said, "Why hello there, what a coincidence that we should meet again in here, at the same time!" He had made his words sound as if he was great friends with the 7 friends on the other side of the bookshelf. But remembering his words and the way he said them, Twilight could tell that he was deliberately looking for them.
"Cut the small talk Discord," said Rainbow Dash accusingly. "We already know you were looking for us because you always want to break our friendship. Well it is never going to happen now, because an old friend of ours, who reunited us as friends when Sunset Shimmer drove us apart, has come back and will never let us be driven apart again!"
"Ah yes, I knew I saw someone leave this table right before I came over. So who is this friend of yours? I'd very much like to meet her now that you have introduced her." said Discord menacingly.
"Oh, I'm sure you already know her, Discord," said Fluttershy in a slightly assertive voice.
"Really? Who?"
"You'll recognize her in time," said Sunset Shimmer. "In the meantime, why don't you go bother some other people? I'm sure they will be just delighted to meet you with your 'amazing powers' to make them feel like nobody care about them."
"That is very true, Sunset Shimmer," he said. "But before I go, I still wish to know. How do you always resist my little spells?"
"We already told you, Discord," said the other Twilight. "The magic of friendship."
"There is no such thing Twilight Sparkle," Discord had told her, but something told Twilight that Discord was lying through his little teeth. "I will conquer this world, and when I do," he started chuckling to himself, "You'll all be sorry for what you have done to me."
He then left in the same direction he came, laughing menacingly as he knocked over a cart filled with lined paper that was supposed to be in the library at the time, but was brought here by a misguided teacher.
"Thank goodness he's gone," Rarity said with a sigh of relief. "I couldn't stand that fashion sense he was wearing."
Canterlot High June 2nd 2013
After witnessing the event unfold last night, Twilight remembered that she didn't have anywhere to sleep, so she asked her friends if she could stay at one of their houses. Sadly for her, they didn't have any room for her to stay in, so she just decided that she would hide out in the library until school opened again.
When everyone else came to the school, they started talking about their plans to overthrow Discord of his menacing reign of terror. They told Twilight about the way he changes others into a darker version of themselves.
"Well," Sunset started saying. "First he says that he wants to talk to you alone. Once he does that, he starts talking about how your friends don't really treat you like a true friend. Finally, once he is done with all his negative comments, you don't trust your friends anymore and you start to turn grey and want to be away from everyone."
"That sounds just like when Discord turned all of my friends in my dimension into a darker version of themselves!" Exclaimed Twilight as she finished listening to the story.
"So, how do we stop him?" Spike asked with a worried expression.
"Well," said Sunset Shimmer, "We could always start treating all the people who he changed like our friends. After they realize that their friends do care for them, they should change back to their normal selves. And after we get everyone back to normal, we can throw Discord out of the school."
"That sounds like a plan to me," said Spike.
"It won't be that simple, Spike," Twilight reminded him. "We have to do this before the moon reaches its pike in the sky tomorrow, or we can't return home."
"Oh yeah," he said. "I forgot about that."
"Before we get started with all of that," Twilight said. "There is something I wish to ask my interdimensional self."
Study hall June 2nd 2013
Twilight looked almost all around the school, looking for herself. She finally found her in the study hall studying for a test she had in a few days.
When Twilight approached her, she looked up and said, "Oh, hey Twilight, did you come up with a plan to bring down Discord?"
Twilight replied to her question, saying, "Yes we did, but before we get that started, there was something I wanted to ask you."
"Sure" she said. "What is it?"
"I wish to know exactly how you met Sunset Shimmer and the others."
The other Twilight frowned and asked, "Why would you want to know that?"
"No reason," she lied. "I just wanted to know how you came to know about the other dimension."
"Oh, ok," she said. "It all star--"
"One last thing before you start?" she interrupted. "Can you include how and when Discord came to this school?"
"Sure thing," she said before continuing. "It all started when I transferred schools on January 13th 2012..."
"Twilight, its time to get up! You should hurry or you'll be late for your new school!"
Twilight could hear her mom's voice in the kitchen downstairs. She didn't like this at all. She loved her old school, and at the same time, didn't want to remember most of what happened. So, in a way, she was glad to leave it. She didn't like the way that others treated her there, but she loved the way she could learn. At her own pace, steadily, and surprisingly easy.
The only thing she could think of was that this new school would be a disaster, even worse than her old school. She thought that the people would treat her like a new kid and make it seem like she wasn't welcome there.
"Coming Mom!" she answered in a very sleepy voice. The only reason she was transferring schools was because her dad got a business opportunity that he couldn't refuse. Because of this, she believed her life would be ruined forever.
And she would never be so wrong.
"Wake up Spike," she called to her dog. "Its almost time to leave."
The dog woke up with very tired eyes and smacked his lips. Twilight had found this dog when looking for an animal she could have to take care of. Nobody knew where this dog came from, or what breed he was, he was just alone, and Twilight had decided that he needed a home or he wouldn't survive, so she took the dog in, and later named it Spike.
After Twilight had fully gotten dressed, she took Spike out to do his business, and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Once she was done, she let Spike back in and waved goodbye to her parents as she went to catch the bus. After the bus departed with Twilight on it, she started preparing for what was to come.
Canterlot High January 13th 2012
When Twilight walked in, it wasn't like anything she expected.
Everyone seemed to know her, even before she introduced herself. They all were congratulating her and treating her like a friend.
No one told her why.
Study hall January 13th 2012
Twilight couldn't take all of the extra attention, she decided to head into the study hall, where she saw 6 friends discussing something that she knew wasn't her business.
She found a book that she thought might be interesting, but never got to see if it was, because one of the people in the group of 6 noticed her and nearly shouted, "Twilight! You're back!"
She decided to ignore this person and tried to read her book, but after the one person noticed her, they all did.
"Ah think that its real great that your back to visit," one of them said.
"We can have great times together, just like last time," said one with poofy hair.
Twilight could only ask in disbelief saying, "I'm sorry, but you must have me confused with someone else."
"No, we don't," said the one with red and yellow hair. "We'd recognize you anywhere, Twilight Sparkle."
"First of all," Twilight objected, "I've never met you, and second of all, how do you people know my name?"
"Wait a minute," said the one with the cowboy hat. "Ah think we need to have a discussion about this situation."
Twilight watched as they all went to the other side of the room and talked about something that she couldn't hear. When they were done, they came back over to talk to her.
"We're really sorry," said one who looked as if she should be at a ball. "You just reminded us all about a friend of ours that we last saw going on a vacation."
"I understand," Twilight replied. "Well I hope your friend comes back soon. In the meantime I'm going to get something to eat."
She then proceeded to leave the study hall, but she heard one of them say something about her looking like their friend, but wasn't. She thought mouthing of it and went strait to the cafeteria.
Lunch room January 13th 2012
Twilight was enjoying her lunch in peace, when one of the girls from the group came over and sat next to her.
"Do you need something?" Twilight asked her.
"Umm... no not really," she replied. "I just wanted to know, I'm hosting a save the animals convention after school today and was wondering if you would like to come."
"Well this is unexpected," Twilight said. "I'll have to check with my parents before I come. I'm Twilight Sparkle by the way. What's your name?
"Umm..., its Fluttershy," she said in a whisper.
"I'm sorry I didn't hear that."
"Umm..., Fluttershy," she said even quieter than last time.
"One more time Okay?"
"Her name is Fluttershy."
Twilight jumped when she heard this new voice enter their conversation. The person who joined the conversation was the girl with the cowboy hat from earlier.
"The name's Applejack," she told Twilight. "I live on a farm called Sweet Apple acres down south of here. I was wonderin' if you was free next Tuesday to help us sell our famous zap apple jam. Ya all don't have to come if you don't want to, Ah just thought we could get to know each other better after the incident earlier. That was an honest mistake we made, and we all hope that you could forgive us if we started treating you better."
Twilight could only stare in disbelief. She was excited that they all would be treating her like they already knew her. "I would be happy to help you sell your zap apple jam. I'm also glad that we will most likely get along with each other in the future."
As Twilight got up to start make plans for the future, she ran into a boy with a spiky blue haircut and a shield with a lightning bolt heading through it.
"Sorry," she said quickly. The boy looked up just as she was walking away and stared in disbelief. Had she really come back? He started running after her, but lost her in the crowd. He then sighed and thought to himself: No, it couldn't have been her. He shrugged off his thoughts and continued his way down the hall.
Canterlot high March 2nd 2012
Two months have gone by. When Twilight had first gone to the school, everyone had treated her like they knew her, but after about a week, no one seemed to even have that thought cross their minds.
She also never ran into anyone after that.
Applejack and Fluttershy's other friends had invited her to all sorts of different things and she quickly became friend with them too.
They all started to hang out more and they all did various activities together as friends it was times like this that Twilight had wished would last forever.
Then Discord came to the school.
He seemed to have come out of nowhere, no records, no nothing. He just seemed to appear out of thin air.
He started wreaking havoc as soon as he came. It started as nothing more than him wandering the halls in a very weird way with his weird fashion sense. Then he asked if he could speak with a person about something privately. Once they were done talking, the person he was talking to didn't act the same as before. They were always asking to be alone, not listening to anyone, and immense anger.
Twilight thought nothing of it until her friend Sunset Shimmer was one of the people he asked to talk to. She went with him willingly, not knowing of what consequences would await her.
When they were done talking however, Sunset didn't look any different than she was when she started talking to him.
She immediately went to her 6 other friends and told them about what happened. Discord was using a special spell of some sort to change people into the opposite they should be. She then advised them to not go anywhere near the strange kid for fear of what he could do to them.
They all eventually forgot about what happened and were called into a meeting with him for each and every one of Twilight's friends. Fortunately, none of them ever seemed to be effected by the spell of his. They all felt good about themselves and never bothered Discord, or was bothered by him again.
That was true for almost another year.
Canterlot High May 31st 2013
About a year passed sense Discord arrived at the school and started wreaking havoc among the students. By then, almost everyone was effected by his spell. The only ones who weren't effected were Twilight, her friends, and a few others.
Within the past week, Discord had tried again at trying to hypnotize the 7 friends, only to find his efforts in vain once again.
Sunset Shimmer couldn't stand having to live in a school with non-interactive people, so she asked Twilight to talk with her.
"Do you remember the day you came to this school?" she asked Twilight.
"Yes, but I hardly see how that is important," she replied.
"It is important because everyone was treating you like they knew you."
"I thought that was ancient history."
"It is, but everyone was treating you like that because they did know you."
"I don't see where you're going with this. How could they have possibly known me?"
Sunset then told her the entire story of how she tried to take over the school. When she was finished, Twilight could only stare in disbelief in how this story ended.
"So, there is another version of me through a portal that opens every two and a half years?" she asked.
"Yes," was Sunset's reply. "And the portal will open again tomorrow night."
Twilight was nearly speechless when she heard this news. She had but one question on her mind. "Why did you tell me this and not the others?"
"Because the only one who could begin to talk sense into the other you is someone she completely trusts. And that person is you, Twilight Sparkle."
"Why does this need to be done?"
"Discord cannot continue to rule the school with an iron fist. You need to go to the other world, find Twilight as quick as possible, and get her here with her crown to stop this catastrophe."
"Ok," she said. "When exactly does this portal open?"

"And that was when I went to your world to find you Twilight."
Twilight nodded silently as her double finished her story. She then jumped at what she head next.
"Well, its nice to see that you are getting acquainted, finally."
Twilight turned to see Discord standing over them, listening to their every word.
"Hello, Twilight Sparkle, and Twilight Sparkle," he said with a mischievous smile. "My name's Discord, and it is such a nice honor to meet you both officially."
Twilight was shocked. She never heard, nor saw him coming over to talk to them. Out of curiosity, she asked, "When and how did you get here?"
"Its a habit of mine," he said. "I just got here when she was telling you about how I came to this school."
"So," the other Twilight said. "What do you want?"
"Well I just got one thing I wanted," he said. "And that was to find out who your other friend was. The other thing I wanted was to transform everyone in this school and make you pay for what you did Twilight Sparkle!"
"Wait," Twilight said, making Discord look her way. "What exactly did she do to you?"
"Wouldn't you like to know," he said with an evil smile on his face. "Well, I have to go now, once I've changed everyone in the school, our world is next Twilight Sparkle.
With that, Discord left the room, leaving both Twilights alone with nothing left to do. After about 5 minutes of silence, Twilight said, "Well, we better get started in changing everyone back to normal."
Canterlot High School June 2nd 2013
Twilight and her double raced around the school, trying to find their other friends. They at one point ran into a spiky blue haired kid with a lightning shield on his shirt in the hallway. They apologized immediately, and continued running down the hall.
When the kid realized who bumped into him, he called out to them to wait, but they were already gone. Now I know I saw her this time, he thought to himself. But, weren't there two of her? At that time, the bell ringed and he realized that he had to go home. So he left school and went on home.
Cafeteria June 2nd 2013
Twilight found her friends in the cafeteria and told them about Discord finding out about her.
Rainbow Dash was the first to speak, saying: "Shouldn't we take care of Discord now? He's going to cause even more trouble for the entire school if we let him go free."
"I agree with Rainbow," said Rarity. "He must learn a true fashion sense, its just the worst possible thing!"
"We can't take care of him now," said Spike, who was in Twilight's book bag this entire time. "He has more power than before, and he can easily avoid our attempts to seduce him to stopping."
"Spike's right," the other Twilight said. "The best thing we could do is prevent him from turning more people miserable."
The others then realized their mistake and nodded in agreement as the bell rang. When they realized what time it was, they all said their goodbyes to each other, and went on home. Before they left, they all agreed to solve this entire problem tomorrow.
And they all prepared for the rough day they would have tomorrow.
Canterlot Library Floor 2 June 2nd 2013
Twilight stayed up wondering about how she and her friends could change everyone else back to their normal selves, and about what Discord would do to stop them.
She continued to wonder about what would happen until Spike said, "Don't worry about it. I'm sure the plan would go smoothly."
She looked down at him and replied, "You're right, Spike. It will go on without a hitch."
With that, she lied down on the pile of books, and went to sleep.
Canterlot High School June 3rd 2013
Today was the day. The day Discord's reign of terror would end.
And it started going as planed.
Sunset Shimmer went to one of her friends in the cafeteria. She started talking to her, who tried not to listen, but also wanted to listen at the same time. When Sunset was done talking with her friend, she came back over and told them about what was going on.
By the time she was finished, her friend looked full of color, and excitement. When she realized what she had done, she asked if she could help with turning people back to their normal selves.
They all agreed and told her to try and get everyone back to normal, by spreading the word and having everyone help with overthrowing Discord.
This went on for another couple of hours, and before long, everyone had transformed back to normal.
"Yes!" exclaimed Rainbow Dash. "We saved the day!"
"Not quite, my dear Rainbow," a voice behind them said.
They all turned around to see Discord standing there in front of a set of double doors. "I may have failed to take over this world, but I can still try to take over yours, Princess Twilight Sparkle! You won't be able to return to the portal in time to get back. And to make it even more fun...," he started saying before he snapped his fingers.
The entire school shook with a huge rumble, as if rooms were being changed around.
"...the entire school is now changed around into a confusing maze," he finished with an evil smile.
"How are you able to do that?" Twilight asked him.
"What, you don't recognize me?" he asked as he snapped his fingers again. This time, he changed into a creature with the head of a pony, the paw of a lion, and a whole bunch of other things as body parts.
"It figures that it was you," she said "You're the Discord from my world."
"That's correct, Twilight," he said. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some chaos to cause in you're world."
When he finished those last words, he snapped his fingers and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Twilight looked at the clock, only to see that she only had one hour before the portal to her world closed.
"Come on, girls," she said. "I need help to get back to my world before I can't get back."
They all nodded in agreement and went traveling through the maze.
Rainbow Dash was not a very patient pony. She needed action, she needed adventure, and most of all, she needed Twilight to come back from the world on the other side of the mirror.
"I'm tired of waiting," she said. "The portal will close in an hour, and Twilight and Spike haven't returned yet! What if something happened to her, what if she can't get back, what if..."
"Stop your worrying Rainbow," Applejack said. "She will come back, she promised, and she isn't one to break promises easily."
"That's right," said Fluttershy. "We can't think doubtful thoughts, we need to believe that she will come back no matter what."
"Continue believing, but Twilight won't come back to this world anytime soon," said a new voice that came out of nowhere.
Everyone in the room turned to see Discord standing in the doorway.
"Where in tarnation did you come from?" Applejack asked accusingly.
"Oh, I just came from a place far away from here, but a very quick trip through the mirror leads you strait there."
"Are you saying that you came through the mirror?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"I never said that," he said defending himself. "I just said that I came from the place on the other side of the mirror, there is more than one way across you know."
"There is?!?" everyone said at the same time.
"Oh, dear," Discord said. "I shouldn't have said that. No matter, Twilight still won't make it back in time, and none of you can tell her about the other passages." He snapped his fingers and made the mirror behind them shimmer with a golden aura. It glowed for a few seconds, and stopped.
"What did you do to the mirror?" Rainbow asked. "You better not have made it so that Twilight couldn't come back at all."
"Not at all, my dear Rainbow," he answered. "I just made it so that the mirror is one way, so you can't tell her about the other passages. In other words, I made it so that only things can only come from that side of the mirror. To make things even more interesting, I also made it so that the mirror will automatically close once something living comes through. That makes it so that both Twilight and Spike can't make it through, only one of them can."
He started laughing maniacally and then disappeared to spread chaos around the land of Equestria. Leaving Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and the others in the room.
Rainbow tried to open the door, but found that it was magically time locked, making it so that it wouldn't open until a certain time had come. She tried that while Pinkie Pie tried to go through the mirror. Both of their efforts were in vain.
"Oh, bummer," said Pinkie Pie, who started to sit in front of the mirror, waiting for Twilight to come back through.
That was the only thing they could do, really. All they could do was wait.
Canterlot High June 3rd 2012
Twilight instantly remembered the maze that Discord sent her friends through before she got her wings. "Stay together," she said. "There could be various traps that will try to destroy our friendship. There might also be a hidden passage in here somewhere, so keep an eye out for-"
"Found something!" shouted Pinkie Pie from across the hall. She was looking at a wall.
"Pinkie, we can't be wasting time, we need to find a way out of here," Twilight said. She started walking over to her, and noticed that her hand was inside the wall.
"I told you I found something," she replied. When they all caught up to her, she had already walked through the wall where a hidden passage was.
"Good work Pinkie. We're one step closer to finding our way out," Twilight complimented.
"Thank you."
The 8 friends continued down the hall. They turned left, right, right, left, right, and left again before realizing they have been going down the same hall this entire time.
"I don't like this," said Spike from Twilight's book bag. "We should try one of the doors, maybe we'll get somewhere."
"Ah agree with Spike," said Applejack. "We've been going around in the same hallway ever sense Pinkie found the secret passageway."
"I second that," said the other Twilight. "We wont get anywhere until we head through one of the doors."
"Lets try one then," said Rainbow as she opened one of the doors on their left. Surprisingly enough, it did lead somewhere. Through the door was the cafeteria, which was also full of food that they all could feast on.
"Now this is some occasion," said Rarity. "We get all of this to behold and no one else around to tell us otherwise."
"Wait," said Twilight. "We shouldn't eat it until we know its safe, which we may never know for sure if it is just here for no reason."
"I guess you're right," said Rarity as she started walking away from the food.
"We need to get out of here," said Twilight. "Discord is trying to distract us from getting out of here. We need to find a clear way out."
"How about we keep trying doors until we find our way out?" suggested the other Twilight. "Discord made this place a maze and anything could be anywhere. The best chance we have at getting out of here is to randomly try doors until we find a way out. If we ever come across a room we've been, we can just try a different door."
"Well," said Twilight. "We've got nowhere else to go, lets try it."
The group gathered together and went through another door, this time leading to gymnasium. They all decided to ignore it and continue onwards to another room. They went through many doors and eventually found themselves in the cafeteria over and over again.
"This is getting us nowhere," said Rainbow Dash. "We already went through all of these doors, the only one we haven't tried is the one we used to come into this room. We continuously find ourselves in the same room, so I suggest that we try the door we came in. Who knows, maybe we will find a new route we can take."
"Ah am starting to agree with Rainbow on this one," said Applejack. "We've been going around in circles for the last 50 minutes. If we don't get outside soon, you wont be able to stop Discord from terrorizing your world in chaos."
"All right," said Twilight. "Lets get out of here."
Those were the words that Twilight spoke before unexpectedly finding herself outside of the school.
"Really?" she said. "It was that simple?"
"Well, why don't you go and head on back now, and let us protect this place," said Rainbow Dash. "You need to get home as soon as possible."
"Well you don't have to tell me twice," said Spike as he ran through the portal.
Twilight waited another minute before answering. "I just didn't want to have to be forced to leave all of the sudden," she said. "I was glad that we finished changing everyone back to normal an entire hour early and I wanted to spend the last hour hanging out with you guys. I guess I'm just sad that Discord ruined everything again for all of us." She sighed before continuing. "I guess this is goodbye."
"Nah" said Applejack. "We'll see you again someday, and Ah am sure that you will have at least one enjoyable day with us. Just don't forget us, okay?"
"I won't," she said. "I promise you that."
With that, she walked toward the portal. She was just about to head through, when she slammed into the statue that would lead her home. She was confused, the portal wasn't supposed to close for another 5 minutes, and yet it was closed.
Rainbow Dash and the others were waiting. Waiting for something to happen, waiting for the door to unlock, or for Twilight to get back. If Twilight came back, she would know a spell to unlock the door. Then again, the door would open by itself in a matter of time.
"Argh, I can't take it anymore," said Rainbow. "We can't go anywhere and Twilight hasn't come back yet. I'm starting to think that Discord planned for this all along."
"She's probably right," said Rarity. "We are trapped and we can't tell Twilight about the other passages. I tell you, that when those doors open, I'm going to give Discord a piece of my mind!"
"You're going to have to wait in order to do that," said Rainbow Dash. "We need to hope that Twilight will make it back in order for us to defeat Discord."
As those last words were spoken, the mirror shimmered. "Hey!" Pinkie Pie shouted. "Twilight is coming back!"
All the others in the room stopped talking and waited for the mirror to stop shimmering.
The one who came out, however, wasn't Twilight Sparkle at all.
It was Spike.

"The portal closed 5 minutes before it was supposed to!" she replied.
"What?!? That's not possible. No one should be able to alter the portal in any way possible!"
"I know! I would be fine at home right about now. Instead, I have to be stuck here while Discord runs amok in my world causing chaos left and right. And without me, no one can stop him."
The 8 girls sat in silence after Twilight finally stopped bickering about what she would do to get back.
"Well," Fluttershy started saying. "It isn't all that bad. Now you can spend some more quality time with us, like you wanted."
"But I wanted to not have it be like this," Twilight replied. "I wanted to spend time with you when the world's fate was in peril. There's also the fact that there will now be two Twilights in the some dimension at the same time. I wouldn't fit in. There would be a huge catastrophe."
"She's right you know," said a voice from behind them.
Everyone jumped at hearing this new voice. They all turned to see a boy with a spiky blue haircut and a shirt with a lightning shield on it.
"Hey, I recognize you," said the other Twilight. I accidentally bumped into you the other day."
"That's correct," he said. "You also bumped into me a year ago when you were leaving the cafeteria. And I should tell you, we really need to stop bumping into each other like this."
Twilight remembered that voice. The voice of the boy she fell in love with the last time she was here.
"Flash?" she said. "Flash Sentry?"
"Yes, Twilight," he replied. "I'm glad you remember my name."
The Mirror Room June 3rd 1003
"Spike!" Rainbow shouted. "You have doomed us all!"
"Why," he asked. Why have I doomed us?"
"Discord adjusted the mirror so that it would automatically close when a living creature came through," Rarity explained. "Twilight can't return to this world now."
"What?!?"
"Its true Spike," Rainbow said. "What's worse, is that Discord can no longer be defeated without Twilight here."
"I- I'm sorry everypony, I didn't know..."
His voice trailed off as he heard a click come from the door on the other side of the room.
"Why did the door click?" he asked.
"Discord locked it," Rainbow replied. "The door has unlocked."
Canterlot High's Portal to Equestria
The two stared at each other in silence. Both were glad to see each other again, but at the same time, totally speechless.
Twilight broke the silence. "How did you find me?" she asked.
"I could find you anywhere," he said. "That, and I followed you through the school." He blushed as he said that. "When I saw that you couldn't get home, I thought I should tell you."
"Tell me what?"
"Well," he started. "When I went on vacation in the summer, my family rented a log cabin. We were away from the world, and having a great time as a family. One day, I went exploring in the attic, and I found a picture with ponies I didn't think much about it until I touched it with my hand on the image. When I did, My hand went through it and seemed to turn into a hoof."
Twilight looked at him in surprise, he had found another portal to Equestria! "Did you head through the portal?" she asked. "If you did, where did it lead you?"
"I did go through, in fact," he replied. "When I did, I found myself in a large city, and I had turned into a pony. I found two peop - I mean ponies, and asked them where I was. They thought I was crazy, but still told me I was in the city of Manehattan."
"Wow," said Rainbow. "What did you do next?"
"I didn't want to get stuck there, so I came back through and turned back to my normal self."
Twilight was bewildered. Flash Sentry had found another portal to Equestria! A single question entered her thoughts.
"Where is this log cabin you were staying in?"
"It was a remote place in the middle of a forest, about 1000 miles away from here," he told her. With a car, It took my family a week to get there, including stops at hotels and restraunts."
Twilight was sort of disappointed to hear that the journey could take an entire week to complete, but was rejoicing inside that she had found another way home.
"When can we head out?" she asked him.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," said Rainbow Dash. "We're coming with you Twilight. We refuse to stand idly by and watch an entire world fall into chaos. Where you go, we will go to."
"I don't know," said Flash. "If we take extra people, it might take longer to finish the trip."
"Oh, I don't mind," Twilight replied. "As long as we get there, I will be fine."
"All right, if you say so, Twilight. Okay, here's hoe this is going to work, everyone gets all the stuff they need and meet back here tomorrow. We leave at 8:00 sharp. If you aren't here, we will leave without you."
Twilight's mind raced with very happy thoughts. She found another way home, she gets to spend more time with her friends here, and most importantly, everyone would be glad to be with her.
