Chapter 1

+Fang of Morkai+

In the Mess hall, the scene was total discord as tables were thrown aside, the crew gathered around to catch a glimpse of what was causing such a ruckus. In the center are two pissed off Adeptus Astartes clashing, neither willing to back down from one another.

“You piece of skitja that was my stash of Mjold!” shouted Olfgeir, the oldest member of Wildehammer.

“Yeah and I’ll drink it again you senile old wolf!” spat Alfgeir, the squads newest member just recruited from the Blood Claws. His words filled with arrogance and challenge, typical for his youth.

“You think me senile but I’ll show you senile you little pompous pup,” growled Olfgeir “When I’m done with you Morkai won’t even be able to recognize you!”

Just as the two were about to clash, a booming voice caught them off guard “Wow back onboard and the Blood Claws already got you angry Olfgeir, I would have thought it would have been Gnyrll or Svane to readjust the fresh meats nose.” declared Thorrun Thunderfist Wolf Guard to Bjorn Stormwolf and vaerangi to Wildehammer, a mountain of a man even by Astartes standards standing a full foot taller than his fellow brothers, and the youngest Wolf Guard since Ragnar Blackmane.

After the interruption, Alfgeir and Olfgeir relaxed attentively to their vaerangi. “Well I was just about to teach this whelp some respect, but on to more important things how much longer till I get to taste some fresh Fenrisian Ale.” Alfgeir growled in response trying to show restraint in front of the one who decides his future in Wildehammer.

Thorrun sighed “Well don’t tap the barrel just yet, we’re going to Ros Okai.”

“Why in the Allfather’s name are we going to a dust ball like that?” Alfgeir responded

“Hels teeth, just go to the staging room with the rest of Wildehammer!” Thorrun ordered

+Staging Room aboard the Fang of Morkai+

Inside the Staging room there were six Sky Warriors sitting around casually chatting amongst themselves. In one corner sat Gnyrll, Svane, and Haegr. Svane and Haegr were arguing amongst themselves over who had the better looking beard, while Gnyrll tried to be the mediator. While, on the other side of the room sat Olfgeir, Alfgeir, and Sigvald. Olfgeir and Alfgeir were conversing while Sigvald remained silent.

“Why is Thorrun vaerangi? I mean he’s barely older than me for Morkai’s sake!” Alfgeir finished by raising his voice.

“You little runt, keep quite over there we’re doing something important,” shouted Svane.

“Alright, it’s a sure thing my beard is the best beard” Haegr stated with pride, when he took a punch to the face from Svane knocking him on the floor stunned only for a moment before shooting up to match his rival.

“Morkai be damned if you win, obviously mine is the better of the two.” Just as soon as Svane had those words cross his lips it was on, as Haegr launched across the table, his fist connecting with Svane’s jaw. While the two titans were pounding away at each other, Gnyrll was laughing drunkenly at the scene.

All Wolves of Fenris are known for being drunks but Gnyrll was a drunk by Rout Standards and also one of the best damn Thunderhawk pilots in the Imperium.

“I still haven’t figured those two out yet,” said Olfgeir as he watched Svane and Haegr brawl across the room.

“Hey, I asked you a question,” stated Alfgeir getting impatient.

“I’m sorry what was that?” asked Olfgeir clearly enjoying the scene.

“Why in Morkai’s name is someone as old as me leading the pack!” demanded Alfgeir, losing his patience.

“Watch what you say whelp. Thorrun has proven his right as vaerangi time and time again, and I would gladly follow him into the sun itself.”

“Aw Sigvald you finally speak, we were beginning to wonder if you’ve gone mute boy” said Olfgeir which he finished with a slap to Sigvald’s shoulder plate possibly leaving a dent in it.

“So what’s your stor…” Alfgeir was starting to ask Sigvald before he rudely stood up and walked away to be by himself without saying a word. “What’s his problem?” Alfgeir turned to Olfgeir.

Olfgeir sighed “Sigvald’s a loner in the group, but he’s loyal to the pack and you couldn’t ask for anyone better to have your back in glorious combat.” Olfgeir finished with a sip from his mug.

“Ok? What about Thorrun? Why is he vaerangi and not one of you?” asked Alfgeir

“You sure do have a lot of questions young blood. Thorrun is without a doubt the most ferocious one amongst us, when he’s in combat he goes feral, ripping apart anything that crosses his path and has the wisdom of Grimnar himself. I’m also guessing that you probably want to know how he was promoted too then.” Algeir nodded for him to continue. “We got ambushed by the forces of Chaos, after slaying one of the traitors I looked over to see our former vaerangi Rabek take a bolter round to the throat, then what I see next was Thorrun charging headlong into the masses of traitors ripping them to shreds with his axe and chainsword, never in my days had I seen anything like that, he fought like Morkai incarnate killing so many Traitors in those mere moments, that at the end of the day the Chaos Lord gave him a grim salute of respect and laughed maniacally before escaping into the warp. That damn Chaos Lord escaping was hard on all of us, but even harder on Thorrun because he was the closest to Rabek.

In the aftermath, Rabek spoke his last words for all six to hear ‘I name Thorrun as my successor’ then his thread was cut.” Olfgeir looked over as his protégé and saw for the first time ever, something that he didn’t think he would ever see, ‘Respect’ in the blood claws eyes. After that the room was silent with all siting around Olfgeir in deep thought when they heard the doors open and Thorrun walk in.

“Alright wolves, yes its true we aren’t going home yet. We received a distress signal coming from Ros Okai.”

“Hels teeth, what’s going on now?” asked Olfgeir.

“The planet is under attack and they cannot get reinforcements until we destroy this warp spire,” Thorrun pointed to the point on the holomap.

“Wait what does this spire have to do with anything?”

“Well young blood the Traitors are using it as a way to block out all long range communication, but the damn traitors are also using it as a door way to the warp, pretty soon it might attract the attention of a greater daemon and we cannot allow this.”

“Who governs the world?” Svane asked while taking a drink.

“The Adepta Sororitas, the Order of Our Martyred Lady.” Silence filled the room except for a collection of low growls, noisy expectorations and bitter edged laughs.

“Enough,” snapped Thorrun. “They’re servants of the Allfather.”

“They’re servants of the Inquisition,” said Haegr.

“They’re insane,” grumbled Gnyrll. “With no love for us.”

Olfgeir smiled softly. “When did you last care about being loved, Great one?”

Gnyrll grinned, and patted his Tankard of Mjold. “When I was given this,” he said. “Not since”

“The Sisters,” said Sigvald, surprising the rest of the pack. “They know it’s us coming?”

Thorrun sighed. “They’d take anyone. They’re hard pressed and facing defeat. But, yes, they know it’s us. I sent word to them. Get used to it, Wildehammer.”

“What are we up against?” Olfgeir asked.

“The Knights of blood,” Thorrun said with anger evident in his voice. The room was silent with low growls except from Alfgeir who was sitting in confusion.

“We arrive in less than one hour Wildehammer; so I suggest getting your skitja together.”

After everyone left the Staging room, Olfgeir approached Thorrun. “Do you think that he…” Olfgeir started before getting interrupted.

“IF HE IS THERE, I WILL HAVE HIS HEAD!” shouted Thorrun as he slammed his fist so hard against the table that it caused the table to explode into splinters. “Brother you should go get your equipment prepared, as should I,” Thorrun said walking to his Chamber.

+Canterlot, Royal Garden+

It was a beautiful day in Canterlot with a mild summer breeze rolling through the castle garden. In the middle of said garden sat three of the most powerful beings in Equestria; Discord and Princess’ Celestia and Luna. The threesome were enjoying the nice weather while drinking tea and eating biscuits in the garden.

“Tis a lovely day dear Sister,” said Luna breaking the silence. “And Discord, thy am surprised that thou hast not attempted to ruin such a moment.”

Discord feigns offense, “Oh Luna why would you ever think I would do such a horrible thing,” Discord suddenly bent over cradling his head in pain.

“Discord, are you ok,” asked Celestia while her and Luna got up quickly to tend to him.

After a moment Discord sat back up in his chair acting like nothing had happened.

“Discord, Art thou alright?” asked Luna while Discord took a sip of Tea.

“I am fine, you two truly do worry too much, but if you’ll excuse me for a moment,” Discord teleported to the Castle restroom and as soon as he was in he ran over to the sink.

“This one was the strongest yet,” he said to himself in the mirror, fear evident in his voice. “Something is going to happen soon, I can feel it, and the surges are getting stronger.” ‘Well until it happens may as well go out there and make Sun Butt happy’ He thought as he teleported back.

“Discord what has gotten into you?” asked Celestia

“Yes thou have been acting strange as of late,” Luna added. “Well Stranger than Usual.”

“Oh dear Tia and Lulu, you worry too much,” as discord finished talking he flicked his fingers and Celestia turns purple, without her knowing. It wasn’t until Luna started laughing and pointing at her was it made clear.

“Turn me back now Discord!” demanded Celestia, with a less than pleased look on her face.

“Oh but you look so much better Purple Tia,” replied Discord.

“Dear Sister I would have to Agree with Discord *snickers* you do look *snickers* great,” replied Luna after catching her breath.

Celestia glared at her sister, “Oh ha ha. Jokes over Discord, turn me back NOW!”

“Oh fine, you’re no fun Tia,” Discord snapped his fingers and she turn back to normal.

Celestia then checks herself to make sure that everything is the way it is supposed to be. “Now Discord back to my earlier Question, what is going on with you?” she asked with her typical motherly concerned tone of voice.

“Oh its nothing but magical surges,” Discord looked up at Tia and Luna to see hints of confusion across their faces.

“Magical Surges, what art thou talking about?” asked Luna.

“Yes Discord it is rather confusing, for if there were magical surges then wouldn’t Luna and I feel them too?” joined Celestia.

“The surges are nothing,” Discord lied, while maintaining his famous troll face. “Oh you two don’t trust me, how shocking.”

Celestia looked concerned as did Luna. “But what does this mean Discord?”

“Oh my dear Tia you should keep your mind focused on your job at hand, dealing with those snobby stuck up nobles.”

“So there is nothing to worry about?” asked Celestia.

“No there is nothing to worry about… yet,” added Discord with a smirk on that last part.

+Fang of Morkai, Docking Bay+

The hanger was filled with motion as the crew rushed to their stations to get the Thunderhawk prepared for combat drop. The smell of oil and engine fumes filled the bay.

“Blood of Russ, how much longer must we wait for tordenvær to be combat ready?” Thorrun asked the Iron Priest.

“Ten minutes max brother, the machine is in prime condition but the weapon systems are malfunctioning,” replied the Iron Priest as he and his servitors were working.

“Alright, let me know when it is done,” Thorrun said as he walked back over to where the rest of Wildehammer was waiting for him.

“How much longer must we wait while the enemy still draws breath.”

“Ten minutes Olfgeir and believe me, there is nothing I want more than to bring death to those traitorous cowards.”

+ Hall of Saints, Ros Okai+

The Hall of Saints was an extravagant complex of which the Battle Sisters called home. The polished marble of the structure reflected the light from the hot arid sun, keeping the inside cool and comfortable. In the Main Hall there waited the Canoness and her entourage for the coming Astartes. As the Canoness was looking towards the doors alongside her aides Kate and Danielle, a winded Guardsman came in with a Message.

“Your priestess I regret to inform you that the Wolves sent a vox, informing us that they will take the fight to the enemy.” After which the Canoness nodded to a commissar who executed the Guardsman for speaking without permission.

The Canoness was outraged by the Wolves reckless move. “Emperor damn those feral mutts,” she seethed. “They were supposed to arrive here to help us fortify the City not do some crazy death or glory Attack.”

“Priestess, I suggest that we use the Wolves as a distraction to launch our own attack against those foul Heretics,” said Kate.

“That is why one day when the God-Emperor takes me you will be Canoness,” she stated.

“You honor me so Priestess.”

“That is why I want you leading the attack.”

“Yes Priestess it will be done, I will burn those Heretics to ash for the God-Emperor,” stated Kate enthusiastically.

“Go now gather our forces, get a location of where the Wolves will land then make our assault.”

“It will be done!” stated Kate before marching out of the room.

+Tordenvær, Orbit around Ros Okai+

The tordenvær was making its decent to Ros Okai. Thorrun was inside giving a last minute briefing. “Wildehammer the Sisters think us mindless savages,” Thorrun continued. “I sent them a vox telling them that while they need assistance, the Wolves do not wait for the enemy, the Wolves seek out our enemies.” The Thunderhawk was filled with howls of those waiting for the soon to be bloodletting.

“Today we will have Vengeance and our Enemies will drown in their own blood as we rip each and every one of their throats out. FOR RUSS AND THE ALLFATHER.”
