The Dark Guardians

By day, two mares walk among us. But at night, two heroes defend us. And they'll have to defend one of us from an evil force. Heroes to some. Demons to others.

The night has always been a dark and cold mistress. It's unpredictable and can easily confuse the wayward wanderer. Such is the reason why the ninja clans have always treasured this time of day. For years with out end the clans have always treasured there secrets and passed them down from parent to child regardless of the sex of the child. Among the newest breed of them are two of the elements of harmony. Though they have been successful so far. Both the apprentice and the mentor must face a force that threatens their closest friend, Princess Twilight Sparkle.

The ninjas in here will be based off the movie Ninja Assassin but this is not a crossover with it. As with some of my other stories this is co-written with Agumon.

In the dark corners of Cloudsdale a yellow pegasus mare in plain clothes was walking to her home down a dark street, appearing to be completely unaware of the eyes that were watching her. This proved dangerous for her as a pair of pegasi thugs armed with a broken bottle and a baseball bat approached her. The mare simply stopped in her tracks as the thugs who had grins on their faces slowly walked up to her.

“Well well, looky at what we have here.” One of the thugs said. His buddy just chuckled idiotically as he patted the bat on his hand.

“I see it. A mare ripe for the pickin’.” The other thug said back to his friend as he stared at the chest of the mare.

“Please, I-I don’t want any trouble.’ The mare said in a scared voice. The two thugs just laughed.

“We don’t want any either. So just come with us and we’ll show you a good time.” The thug said as he smiled. The mare tried to back away but thug two just grabbed her around the waist causing her to drop whatever she was carrying. The leader of the pair picked it up and saw that it was an envelope.

“Who’s this for huh? Your coltfriend?’ He asked her. To which the mare responded, with a new found courage, told him “Go buck yourself.” She was slapped by the thug as he opened up the letter. But as he opened it, sand erupted from it and went into the eyes of the thug making him scream in pain as his eyes watered.

“You…. nag!” He said as he grabbed the mare by the neck. “Now I’m really gonna hurt you!” He said as he raised the broken bottle above his head. But then in a flash, a gust of wind appeared over him and his hands seemed to have fallen off, leaving bloody stumps in place. He looked at them for a little bit as he saw the mare, who ripped off her old clothing and was now garbed in dark clothing, held a small knife in her hand.

The thug’s idiotic friend then lumbered forth with his baseball bat raised and he tried to bring it down on her head as she just tripped him and took his baseball bat, snapping it over her knee. The lumbering moron then got back up but before he could charge again he felt something wrap around his neck and looked at it. What he saw made him nearly scream in fear. A knife with a chain attached was wrapped around his neck. He barely managed to let out a yelp of pain as the gruesome weapon then slit his throat leaving him choking on his own blood.

The yellow mare then took her knife and rammed it at the corner of the thug’s stomach making him release a grunt of pain. Then slowly, she moved the knife, making his crimson blood leak out of him. He tried to scream, but the pain was just too much for him. Then with a quick thrust, she sliced his stomach completely open, making his intestines fall onto the ground with a wet and slimy thump. The mare stepped back and watched as the thug tried to place the organs back into himself.

“W-what are you?” Were his last words as the mare jammed her knife into the stallion’s temple.

“I’m death on two legs asshole.” She said as she pulled her knife out of his head. The body slumped into the ground as she wiped the blood off her knife with her street clothes. She then looked around and made sure the coast was clear before she yelled out, “You can come out of the shadows now! Nopony else is around!” The mare shouted. As she did this, though, a figure appeared to be literally coming out of a wall before it stepped into a flickering street lamp.

The figure was another Pegasus mare wearing a garb. Except it was the colors of blue and black stripes. She wore a metallic mouth cover that was blue, like the stripes on her garb. Her mane was placed in a ponytail on the back of her neck and it was the color of shadow black like her tail. On her waist was a katana and some throwing stars. “Nice work. For a trainee you learn really fast.” The blue pegasus told her apprentice who bowed in respect. “I would say it was flawless but you allowed me to assist you. There will be a time when I can’t help you. No matter what our code says I can’t be there for you all the time.” She continued. Her apprentice then bowed in shame before she felt a hand lift her head up. “Don’t get me wrong you did great tonight. Now help me dispose of the bodies ‘kay?” the masked pegasus said.

“Alright sensei.” She replied as she bowed. The two then grabbed the two corpses and dragged them towards a manhole. Using her strength, the blue mare pried the cover off of the manhole and they dropped the bodies in.

“Excellent. Now, let’s head home.” The blue mare said as she closed the manhole. The yellow mare nodded as she picked a pellet from her belt and dropped it. The smoke covered both of them as they left the scene in silence. They arrived at the blue mare’s dojo and opened a backdoor entrance to it. They took off their outfits and put them up in their respective holders. The blue mare walked over to her sink and washed the black dye from her mane and tail, revealing that it was they were actually the colors of the rainbow. The yellow mare used the sink to wash off the blood from her fur.

The two mares even though they were ninjas were also famous. They were two of the Elements Of Harmony. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. Rainbow was the first to start relaxing as she stretched her arms out in a yawn. She had long nights but it took Fluttershy forever to get those two idiots to make a move. Speaking of who Fluttershy was over by their computer to make sure that the money was transferred over clean and no hiccups happened. She was hired by Rainbow Dash to work at her Dojo as its accountant. And in secret she was the apprentice of the mare.

“So Rainbow Dash, can I get us some food? I know I’m hungry from the mission.” She said to her.

“Sure. Just make sure it’s one of those good places too. Last place I found a roach in my Chow Mein.” Rainbow said back. Rainbow bought the dojo due to some money her late parents left for her so that she could have her own place to live in. She already worked for the weather team in Ponyville but that wasn't really bringing in the big bits, even though the team was really nice to her. She soon made her new home into a part time dojo as well, Applebloom was one of her earliest younglings to join her and she still came, and it went off without a hitch. She was starting to make more money but that was just a cover so that she could do the real family business. Her whole family were descendant down a long line of great assassins who only killed the corrupt and the unjust.

“Rainbow, is the Dojo open tomorrow?” Fluttershy asked.

“No. Why?” She asked in replying.

“Because I wondering if we could go somewhere tomorrow. Like the mall.” Fluttershy explained. Rainbow turned towards her with a small smile.

“Sorry Flutters but I have another job too you know? The Weather Team?” The cyan blue mare reminded her. Fluttershy blushed as she remembered Rainbow’s other job. As Rainbow got up to leave, though, the telephone rang at her desk. Curious as to who it was Fluttershy picked it up.

“H-Hello. Rainbow Dash’s Dojo. Fluttershy speaking.” She said. Her eyes soon shot open as she recognized the voice on the phone, it was the voice of Rainbow Dash’s mentor and he sounded urgent.

“Is Rainbow-San there? I need to speak with her urgently.” The stallion said. She quickly passed the phone to the mare and heard the conversation.

“Sensei, what is it?..... What?...... Whoa whoa, slow down and tell me what happened……. Alright. I’m on my way.” She said as she hung up the phone. Rainbow then walked over and got out a kimono and put it on.

“W-What happened?” Fluttershy asked as Rainbow was tying the bow to her dress.

“Somepony…. placed a hit out on Twilight.”

‘A-a hit?!” Fluttershy asked in a very surprised voice.

“Yes. 10,000 bits to whoever kills Twilight.” Rainbow said back in a disgusted voice. The two couldn’t believe it.

“W-Who would ever do that?” Fluttershy asked her in curiosity.

“Don’t know. She’s made a lot of enemies over the years. It’ll be hard to figure it out.” Rainbow replied. She looked over and picked up an old katana that her family had used for countless generations and how it’s jewel encrusted sheath was shining in the rising sunlight. She sighed as she put it back down and made sure her kimono was tied real good to her waist.

“W-what do we do?” Fluttershy asked her.

I am going to my sensei’s place. You are going to have to make up a story to explain where I’m going I don’t want to be bothered okay Flutters?” Rainbow replied to Fluttershy.

“Alright. I-I’ll try.” She said as she tapped her fingers together. Rainbow smirked a bit as she walked out of the Dojo’s door and onto the streets. As she walked to her sensei’s home, she wondered who would want to kill Twilight.

Discord, no even he’s not that insane. Chrysalis, surely but she would need a good reason. Trixie, has a motive, but she’s not anywhere near Twilight. She thought as she rounded out the suspects. She continued this until she came to a Neighponese style house which was the home of her sensei. She knocked on the door several times before an elderly unicorn stallion opened it.

“Ah. It’s been awhile since my prized pupil paid me a visit.” The old stallion said gingerly. Rainbow giggled a little as she bowed before entering the house. She followed the old stallion who walked slowly with cane made from an old stick of hard bamboo. She walked behind him until they came across a table with two pillows at the floor and on the table was a kettle with two cups sitting next to it. “So why did you come? I doubt it was for pleasantries Rainbow San?” He asked her. Rainbow nodded before responding.

“Sensei…. you said somepony placed a bounty on my friend Twilight Sparkle right?” The old stallion nodded. “I just wanted to know, from you, who would do this? You have to know-” the old stallion chuckled a little.

“Ah just as eager as when you first entered my dojo all those years ago. Though, I might add, less sad and angry as you were back then.” The stallion said as he smacked his lips.

“I know sensei. But who was it that placed the bounty?” She asked with concern in her voice.

“Rainbow San, the egg even with light, will not hatch without time.” He said as he poured some tea into the two glasses.

“What does that mean?” She asked as she grabbed a cup.

The stallion took a sip before answering “The answer will come to you in time. And then, your answer will hatch.” Rainbow only groaned at what he said. She loved her sensei as she ever loved her own parents but he could be so annoying at times. She then walked towards the back of his home and pulled a hidden latch. It opened up a door that was hidden somewhere in the bamboo walls, revealing a shadowy hallway. She grabbed one of the candles that sat next to her and began to walk through it. The dim light revealed on the walls paintings of Neighpon.

They showed ancient warlords battling with armies, ninjas on buildings, and samurais locked in combat. She loved the paintings ever since she first walked down the hallway. She stopped for a bit when she saw a painting of her ancestor, Rioichi Dash. He was one of the best ninjas in his clan for his incredible speed and amazing stealth skills. Taking her hand, she rubbed the painting of the ninja, feeling as if his power flows through her. She sighed in sadness before removing her hand and continued her walk. She looked towards another object in the room and saw one of the oldest and strongest swords in her clans history.

“The Blade of Orochi. Carved from the claw of the Dragon Demon Orochimaru, edged with a fang of all eight of Orochi’s heads, legends say it could level a mountain with one swing.” A voice said making Rainbow jump forward. She turned and saw the old stallion who was giggling a bit. “Did I startle you my pupil?” He asked her. Rainbow merely rolled her eyes as she turned to leave. “Rainbow San. Never forget that the shadows are always your ally and that hope comes from the most unlikely of sources.” He told her as she flashed her wings and took off towards Ponyville. The sensei sighed as a new ninja appeared from the shadows.

“Why didn’t you tell her sensei?” The pony asked him.

“Because she’s not ready for you yet. The news may make her…. unfit for her duty Dust Storm.” He said back.

“But-”

“Enough. Now come, we’ve got to find out who targeted Twilight Sparkle.” He said as he began to walk up to the main part of his house.

As Rainbow flew back to Ponyville, she felt as if she had something more important and mysterious that she never knew it in her life. But then, a flash of light appeared blinding her.

“Rainbow Uzimaki Dash.” The voice said. Rainbow turned towards the light but doing so made it intensify more so.

“WHO THE BUCK?!” The cyan blue mare shouted at the light.

“I am…. an old friend. Tonight is not safe for Twilight Sparkle. She must be moved to a safer haven, suffice to say she may not be willing. Celestia above knows her ancestor was just as stubborn as she knows.” It replied to Rainbow. She had little time to register what it just said when the flash soon ended leaving Rainbow alone on the open air. She turned her head before starting to fly again. As she flew, she wondered in her mind Who in Equestria was that? And how did he know me?

Back in Ponyville, the Dojo that Fluttershy was running as Rainbow was out was finally coming to a closing time. Fluttershy smiled and waved as the students ran out of the doors and into the streets. As soon as the last one left, she closed the doors of the building and sighed.

Another teaching day come and gone. I wonder what Rainbow is up to. She thought as she walked back over to her desk. She picked up her things and was about to leave when Rainbow landed in front of the Dojo.

“RAINBOW!” Fluttershy gasped. The cyan blue mare pushed open the doors and headed towards the back of the Dojo. Fluttershy followed her to the back and into the hidden lab where all their gear was placed. “Well what did your Sensei tell you?” Fluttershy asked her friend.

“Nothing yet. Whoever it is has to be pretty well connected to be hidden from Sensei. I also had a, ugh, history lesson with him, I swear if he were younger you’d think he was Twilight.” Rainbow joked a little. The two pegasi soon arrived at the area where the outfits were placed. The two went to their stations and began to change.

Fluttershy took off her shirt and jogging pants and quickly placed on her black and yellow striped kimono. She grabbed her black mane dye and smeared it into her mane and tail turning it shadow black. She then grabbed her mouth guard which was yellow and made of leather and placed it on her muzzle, with that Fluttershy vanished and in her place stood Silent Flight: Mistress Of Knives. Rainbow then took off her current kimono and replaced it with a light armored black and blue striped outfit. She grabbed her own mane dye and turned her whole mane and tail dark as shadow as well. She then tied her mane back into a ponytail and slipped it through the hole on her hood. She finally grabbed a metal mouth guard that was light blue and placed it over her muzzle, the moment the guard was placed on her face Rainbow followed in Fluttershy's footsteps and vanished as Swift Dash took her place.

Silent Flight then moved over to her weapons station and grabbed her black eggs which were filled with crushed glass, her knife, and her claws which she slipped on. Swift Dash grabbed her Kusarigama, her katana, and also a few throwing stars. As she placed the last star into it’s spot she gave Flight a quick talk through of their mission tonight.

“Okay Silent Flight here’s the deal. I hate to say it but Twilight isn’t going to be safe in the library for a while so we need to bring her here…. no matter what understood?” Rainbow asked her friend who nodded without hesitation. “Remember we don’t exist so make sure no pony sees you got it?” The yellow mare nodded again. Rainbow, no Swift Dash, smiled under her mouth guard as she headed out through the back door way and into the dark, cold night.

How to save a princess

View Online

The nights in Ponyville were among the calmest in Equestria. It was silent enough to hear the chirping of a single cricket. And that gave a ninja excellent cover. Two ninjas were peering into the window seal of The Golden Oaks Library to check and see if their target had gone to bed already and her assistant was no where to be seen. Silent got a little nervous when she saw that Spike was still awake but Swift assured her that they could handle it. They also saw their target, Princess Twilight Sparkle, was now in her bed fully asleep.

“Excellent. She’s asleep.” Silent Flight whispered happily to her sensei. The two ninjas then started to talk out their plan. “What should we do about Spike?” Slight Flight asked. Swift Dash considered her options and although their target was Twilight it would be much easier if Spike didn’t interfere as well.

“We need to ensure Twilight can be taken out of here without a fight. You knock out Spike and I’ll grab Twi’.” She responded. Silent Flight simply nodded as she pulled a small ruby from her pocket. She then slipped into the shadows and made it into the tree house. Silent crept along towards Spike, making sure her steps never made a sound, and soon came to the door outside of which contained the drake. Quickly, she proceeded to make sure the room wouldn’t make any noise while she made her little plan. She turned towards the door entrance.

“Step two, ready.” She silently said as she tossed the ruby onto the doormat leading to the library’s entrance. The noise was only loud enough to ensure Spike heard it and sure enough his ear fins started to shuffle and his head shot up soon after. He turned towards the the entrance and saw the ruby laying in front of it.

“What’s that doing out here?” Spike asked himself as he walked over to the gem, making sure he didn’t touch any squeaky boards on the ground and wake up the lavender alicorn upstairs. He then made it over to the ruby and picked it up.

“Who’d leave a perfectly g-MMPH!” He released a muffled shout as Silent quickly got him into a sleeper hold. She used her powerful legs to try to hold him in place as her arms and hands held over his neck, making him lose some air. Silent had to admit that Spike was a tough struggler. She’d never held anypony like that it was almost like wrestling an alligator.

“Shh shh it’s almost over Spike just go to sleep now please.” She asked him in a motherly tone. The drake struggled some more but soon felt his eyes grow heavy and finally he passed out. Silent made sure to place him down gently in his bed so as not to arouse suspicion. She looked up at the roof and signaled her sensei that her part was done. Swift Dash then started her part of the plan by trying to wake up her friend. She wondered to herself what she could do to awaken her and it came to her. Taking a throwing star, she aimed inside of the Library and threw it, hitting a loose book and making it fall. It made enough noise to wake the lavender Alicorn. Twilight soon got out of bed and went down to check the disturbance.

As soon as she made it to the last step she saw the book that fell down and bent over to pick it up. But as she did this she also saw a slight flash as something shiny glimmered in the moonlight. The librarian walked over and picked up the object and saw that it was a strange four curved point object. As she observed it, she accidentally moved her finger over a sharpened point, cutting it and making her drop the object.

“Ah.” She said as she placed her slightly bleeding finger in her mouth. She ran over to her bathroom to grab a bandage. But she did not notice the blue ninja who quickly zoomed into the building. Swift Dash then pulled from her back pocket a rag and a small bottle of Chloroform.

“Sorry about this Twi’.” She said before she tilted the bottle into the rag. She then quickly and stealthily made it to the bathroom and grabbed Twilight, forcing the rag over her mouth. Twilight started to release muffled screams as she struggled to break from the ninja’s grip. But Swift was stronger than Twilight giving her an advantage. Slowly, the chloroform did its work as Twilight slowly started to stop struggling. But that didn’t mean she was not about to quit. The lavender alicorn used whatever energy she had left and put it into her horn and teleported a short distance from her attacker.

When she was away from her assailant, she felt weak from the chloroform but was able to see a blue blob. Swift Dash watched as Twilight prepared her horn for a magic blast. But Swift dodged it and when she neared Twilight, she pressed on a pressure point on her neck, causing her to go limp. The ninja sighed as she picked up the limp princess and placed her over her shoulder. Swift then gave the signal to Silent Flight that it was all clear. The apprentice noticed it as she flew over to the window and opened it. The two then gently moved Twilight through the window and when she was fully through it, Silent closed it and began to move with an unconscious Twilight on her shoulder.

“How am I supposed to move silently if I have her on me?” Silent asked her sensei.

“Don’t worry. I have a way.” She said as she pulled out a small, rune covered stone from her hand.

“What’s that?” Silent asked.

“A little gift from Sensei. It’ll allow anypony to teleport where they want.” Swift replied. She held the stone out in her palm and it started to glow as it surrounded her and the other two mares and they soon were transported back to the dojo. Swift told Silent to grab a kimono from the closet and make sure that Twilight was covered with it. Silent then took Twilight to one of the rooms and began her work. Meanwhile, as Dash changed from her uniform, she heard a voice.

Rainbow Uzimaki Dash. A familiar voice echoed. Rainbow, out of surprise, turned to see who spoke but saw nopony not even the bright light that followed it last time.

Who is that? And why is he talking to me? And how does he know my full name?

Groggy. That was how Twilight Sparkle felt. Groggy and numb. She slowly opened her eyes and saw blurry objects around her. As her vision cleared, she saw candles around her and the new surroundings she was in. She then noticed a Nieghpanese style table prepared right before her which just made her a little confused but also, to her anyways, explained the candles a little bit. She started to get up she bonked her head on the top of the bed’s little roof. She pulled a hand up to her hurt spot and rubbed it slightly as she finally stood up. She looked down and realized she was wearing what appeared to be a kimono.

“What the… where did this come from?” She wondered as she observed the purple kimono that was decorated with light purple flowers.

“Finally, you’ve awakened.” A voice said making her gasp and jump a bit.

“WHO’S THERE?!” She yelled as she quickly snapped her head around the room.

“I apologize for scaring you. Turn around.” The voice said. Slowly, Twilight did as ordered and slowly turned her head around. She then saw who was the owner of the voice. It was a pegasus who had yellow fur and a solid black mane and tail. She was wearing what seemed yellow, leather ninja armor and a leather mouthguard. The pegasus also carried a tray of food.

“W-Who are you?” Twilight asked as she tried to make her horn light up but found that the best she could do with it was a tiny light. She moved her hands up to her horn and felt an inhibitor ring placed around it. She looked back and saw that the pegasus was avoiding looking at her eyes and instead was walking towards the table in her room. As the pegasus put the tray down on the table she turned around.

“My name is Silent Flight and you have nothing to fear from me Princess.” The ninja said as she bowed to Twilight.

“W-Why won’t you let me see your face?” Twilight asked in curiosity.

“It’s rude to stare somepony in the eye. I’ve learned that from my sensei.” Silent replied.

“Where is your sensei?” The Alicorn asked.

“She’s away on some personal business. She assigned me to watch you until she returns.” The Pegasus replied as she sat in a chair with her head hanging low. Twilight then turned her attention to the food on the tray which was a Neighpanese delicacy. Sushi of many kinds with Soy Sauce and Wasabi. Twilight has always wanted to try Sushi and this was her chance. Walked forward and was about to sit down when she realized that she probably should bow to the ninja first, even though she did kidnap her in the first place. The princess bowed to her and then sat down on her knees as she then picked up the chopsticks nearby. She picked the tuna up, dipped it into Wasabi sauce, and then placed it in her mouth. She instantly regretted the Wasabi sauce choice as the spicy flavors felt like they were starting to burn the inside of her mouth up quickly.

“Here.” Silent said as she passed a gallon of milk to the Alicorn. Acting quickly, Twilight uncapped the milk and began to drink as fast as she could. After a few chugs, the princess placed the jug on the table and sighed happily as the burning sensation went away.

“Thank you.” She said with a smile.

“It was my pleasure. Now princess, can I ask you something?” Silent asked.

“Sure. Go ahead.” The Alicorn replied.

“Well… do you know anypony that would want to.. kill you?” She asked making the princess give her an ‘are-you-serious’ stare.

“Well-” She started. But then she heard the door to the room open and saw who was coming in. It was another Pegasus but this one was cyan blue and had a black mane and tail. This one though was wearing a metallic blue armor with a matching mouthguard.

“I see she has awakened.” The ninja said as she closed the door. It didn’t take Twilight long to figure out that this was the sensei to Silent Flight as the pegasus bowed to the new pony in the room. “Sorry where are my manners? My name is Swift Dash, the current heir apparent to my family’s legacy and your personal body guard.” The ninja said as she bowed.

“N-Nice to meet you. So can you tell me why I’m here?” She asked.

“Princess, I don’t think it would be good to-”

“Please. I want to know why I was brought here.” Twilight said. Silent and Swift stared at each other before lowering their heads in the princess’ direction.

“Princess, somepony… has placed out a hit on you.” Swift said making Twilight’s eyes widen in shock.

“WHAT?!” She screamed.

“We discovered it yesterday. Somepony has placed out 10,000 bits to whoever brings your head in. So.. do you know anypony that might do this?” Swift asked.

“Well… there’s a lot of ponies and others actually. Trixie, Queen Chrysalis, Discord, Gilda. I just don’t see why any of them would want to kill me.” She replied making Swift groan.

“We already ruled out some of those suspects but I’ll check out that last one out…. what was her name again?” Swift asked Twilight.

“Her name was Gilda and she’s a griffon. She probably moved back to Griffonia but other than that I really don’t know much about her.” Twilight said as she sighed.

“Do not worry. We will find whoever did this. Before we go, do you want anypony to stay with you here?” Silent asked.

“S-Spike. I want Spike here.” Twilight said.

“Alright. We shall retrieve him. You go ahead and eat. Mind the wasabi though.” Swift said making Twilight glare at her.

“What?”

Meanwhile, a few miles away in a large dojo, the sounds of blades colliding could be heard. The creators, a Unicorn ninja wearing white armor and a white mouthguard and her opponent. Both of them were trading equal blows but the mare’s opponent seemed to be growing more and more disappointed with each strike they landed on her.

“Pathetic. AGAIN!” Her opponent said making her growl as she sliced at him with her practice sword again and again but each strike was blocked by the stallion who merely grunted and countered.

“AGAIN! How many times do I have to make you do this?!” Her opponent growled. But suddenly out of coincidence, the ninja struck with a blow powerful enough that it knocked the blade from her opponent’s hands.

“Is that what you wanted sensei?” The ninja asked.

“Yes. Now, leave me. I have something I need to attend to.” Her sensei said as he placed his blade on the weapon rack. The mare snorted as she too placed her practice blade on the rack. Before she left the room, however, she glanced over and saw, to her utter shock and disgust, a suit of armor that gleamed silver. Her sensei walked up to the armor and sat down, crosslegged, before the suit. It was a dull white with an outline of shadow black. On the helm of the armor was a face carved into the front of the helm. The cloth of the armor was also shadow black. The warrior then placed his hands to together and began to pray.

“My ancestors. I pray to you now to allow you knowledge that our conquest….. has been poor. Very poor indeed. The ninja scum still populate Equestria but soon I will be rid of the clan that dishonored us above all. That wretched clan that Riochi belonged to and to finally end his legacy once and for all.” He said finishing his prayer. The mare then turned around the corner and took off her mouthguard as she thought about her friend Rainbow.

I hope that he doesn’t try to hurt you my friend. Especially what made your family the greatest clan of ninjas in history.

Spike was confused and stunned for two reasons. Number one, he saw Twilight was out of the house and number two, she never woke up this early in her life. The baby Dragon scratched his head as he tried to figure out where she went. He walked through the tree to try and find her and saw only messed books which just made him even more suspicious. Then he looked into the bathroom and saw signs of struggling due to various bathroom appliances all over the place.

Did she stumble around last night while I was sleeping? No. That wouldn’t explain why I was in a sleeper hold by somepony outside. So did that pony.. but who’d be crazy enough to fillynap an Alicorn? Spike asked in his thoughts as he tried to figure out what happened. He looked over and saw a small metal object which he recognized as a throwing star. Whoa….. oh crud that means the pony who fillynapped Twi’ was a- before he could finish the thought Spike heard a knock come from outside of the library and went to go check it. When he opened the door, he smiled at the sight of his friend Rainbow Dash.

“Hey Rainbow.” He said to her.

“Hey Spike. What’s up?” She asked him.

“Twilight’s not here. It’s weird though. She never gets up this early.” He replied. Nervous sweat trying to emerge from his skin as he tried to make the lie convincing. He was relieved when Rainbow seemed to accept the answer.

“Oh about that, she has a… sleepwalking and a sleepflying problem. I found her at the Dojo this morning sleeping on the stairs.” She said making the Dragon give off a sigh of relief.

“Thanks for that Rainbow. Can I come see her some time?” He asked her.

“Actually why not now? I mean she probably would like to see her number one assistant by her side right?” She asked him in reply. Spike nodded in excitement, seeing as how Twilight never let him go to the Dojo anyways this would be a perfect excuse to go see what it’s like. Rainbow turned around, allowing the young Dragon to wrap his arms around her neck.

“Ready?” She asked him.

“As I’ll ever be.” He replied with a gulp.

“Then hang on Spikey Boy!” She said happily as she flapped her wings before taking into the skies. As she cheered happily as she sliced through the air like a knife through hot butter, Spike held a death grip on her, praying to Celestia that this ride would be over soon. What he didn’t realize was that Rainbow had secretly planted a dart on him with her wings that was slowly making him tired but the effect would take place fully the moment they got to the Dojo. She hated doing this to the little guy but her secret had to be hidden even from her friends. They were starting to get closer to it when Spike suddenly started loosening his grip on Rainbow which made her realize she had to pick up the pace. She landed right in front of it when he finally allowed sleep to overtake him. She sighed as she placed him over her shoulder.

“Sorry ‘bout that Spikey ol’ pal. But I can’t let you know.” She said in a saddened tone. She walked for a few yards before making it to the Dojo. As soon as she opened the door, Fluttershy ran up to them.

“Rainbow what did you do?!” Fluttershy asked in a shocked voice.

“I had to make sure he didn’t see my other self. Otherwise.. I don’t want to know the otherwise. Now help me. He’s heavier than he looks!” She said as her knees began to fail her. Fluttershy acted fast and grabbed his scaly legs and helped her friend carry the large reptile. The two pegasi carried him over to a nearby bench and laid him down on it as they slipped back into their ninja outfits. Silent knocked on Twilight’s door who slid it open soon after. The lavender mare turned her head and saw the two ninjas with the Dragon and gasped as she went up to the three.

“Spike! What did you-”

“Don’t worry. He’s just asleep. He’ll wake up soon. We wouldn’t dare hurt him.” Silent replied as she showed her the dart.

“Thank Celestia.” Twilight said happily. She took her baby brother from the two and laid him in her lap. “I’m glad you brought him. I’ve been lonely while you were out.” She said a she stroked his ear fins. Silent smiled under mouthguard as she looked at the two siblings. Silent on the other hand was starting to leave. Silent noticed this and placed a hand on her sensei’s shoulder. Swift sighed and turned around to face Twilight.

“So Twilight, now that we’ve brought your brother here, can you tell us that suspect list again?” Swift asked.

“Sure. Gilda the Griffon, Trixie Lulamoon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis, and… there was one more. But I can’t remember her name.” Twilight replied. Swift nodded as she flared her wings and flew out of the building towards the Griffon lands for her first suspect. Her old friend Gilda.

Gilda the Griffoness. Many words describe her. Violent, always angry, foul beaked, and many others. But today, none of those words were matching her right now. Today she was just sitting in her apartment, drinking a warm beer.

“Stupid bartender telling me I can’t stay longer. I DO WHAT I FREAKING WANT!” She roared as she took a large gulp from her beer before she threw it across the room, shattering the bottle “Stupid Rainbow. So what if I insulted her stupid friends. It’s not like she would’ve done the same fucking thing. What does she see in those losers that I don’t have huh?” She asked herself as she rose from her chair and went to her fridge. As she opened it, the cool air from the inside flowed through her feathers. But as she reached in for another beer, she felt a hand wrap around her neck, causing her to squawk in surprise. But with a free elbow, she slammed into her attacker’s ribs, hoping that he or she would let her go.

The attacker still held on but Gilda flared her wings before she flew back and hit a wall. This was enough to loosen the grip of the attacker and gave Gilda the time she needed to grab them. She flung the creature across the room and saw that it was a pegasus wearing a blue metallic looking outfit and a matching mouth guard. This only made her angrier and flew towards her as it got back up and dodged her. Gilda then picked up and empty beer bottle and smashed it against the wall, giving her a new weapon. She charged at her opponent and swung wildly, hoping to land a scratch. She did land one on her arm, making the assailant bleed from the three scratches it left. But the attacker got a strike back when it knocked the bottle from her talons and gave a roundhouse kick to Gilda’s jaw, sending her to the floor.

“WHY YOU NO GOOD LITTLE PONY-” What ever she was about to say was interrupted when she was punched by the masked pony and rendered unconscious.

You know if you just let me put you to sleep you could’ve avoided this Gilda. The pony thought to herself as she pulled out a chair and some rope. As she did this though her wings suddenly flapped open into the form pegasi and griffons had come to call the wingboner. The attacker forced her wings back down with great difficulty and picked the griffoness up and tied her legs apart to the separate legs of the chair. But as she tied the griffon’s talons to the chair, she then received a ram to her face. She rubbed her face and realized that her mask was missing. She peered through her fingers and saw that Gilda had her mask in her claws.

“G-got you now you little shit. Now show me your face.” She demanded but was amazed when she felt the mask leave her talons so quickly and growled when she also realize that her only leverage was now gone.

“I don’t have time to play games griffon. Do you know a pony by the name of Twilight Sparkle?” She demanded from her prisoner.

“Yeah. So what?!” The Griffon asked angrily.

“Well where were you last night around 10:30 to 12:00 last night?” She asked back.

“I was at the bar as always. Why? Need a little info about me and what relationship me and that bitch have?!” This was replied through a slap from the masked pony.

“Can anyone confirm this?” She asked her. Gilda just rolled her eyes.

“Yeah the bartender and several injured griffons I landed in the hospital.” She replied. This caused the pony to giggle a little as she remembered how they both got into fights all the time back in flight school.

“Alright. But would you have a hatred enough to try and kill her?” Rainbow asked making the Griffon give a shocked look.

“W-What?! I.. no! Sure I don’t like her but not enough to kill her! I’m not a fucking animal!” Gilda replied. This caused the pony to sigh in relief and irritance. She was glad that one of her old friends wasn’t responsible but on the other hand this meant that the one responsible was still out there.

“That’s all I needed to hear. I can tell you mean it. Sorry for the inconvenience.” Rainbow said as she turned to leave.

“No problem…. Rainbow Dash.” Gilda said making the pegasus stop.

“I’m not who you speak of.” She said back to her.

“I can see your cutie mark plain as day Rainbow. It’s you.” Gilda said with a smirk on her beak. Rainbow looked down and noticed that her cutie mark was in fact showing. She realized that was Gilda’s motive when she rammed her.

“That was smart Gilda I gotta give you props for that one.” She said as she removed the mouth guard revealing her full face. Gilda just chuckled.

“Come on Dash. I mean it wasn’t hard when I saw what you were. I knew that if I couldn’t beat you I could at least see who you were and if I didn’t know you I had something to tell the cops. Now give me a reason I don’t do that right now.” She finished with a snarl.

“Gilda, we’re friends. Ever since we were little. You wouldn’t do that to a friend now would you?” She asked as she leaned down towards the griffoness. But as she did, she noticed that her friend’s wings were… stiffening. Stiffening until they were fully erect in the air. Rainbow just stared at the sight before her. Gilda, one of the toughest and arrogant griffons she knew, had just achieved a wing boner out of no where. “Um…. is there something I should-”

“None of your buisness Dash!” Gilda squawked at her. Dash just continued to stare at the stiff wings which were starting to loosen. She then looked down at where Gilda’s eyes were staring and saw why her wings hardened. She was looking at her chest.

S-She’s into- Rainbow started to think.

“Can you let me go now?!” Gilda asked as she rocked around in her chair. Rainbow nodded and took out a knife. She cut the ropes of Gilda’s arms and legs and allowed her to rub them. “So before you go off wanna drink or something?” Gilda asked as she went back to her fridge.

“No thanks. I gotta head home. It was nice talking to you though.” She said getting a giggle out of Gilda. Rainbow headed to the window and flew out of it, heading straight for her Dojo.

“How are you feeling Princess?” Silent Flight asked Twilight who was sitting in bed stroking her little brother’s head.

“Well if you count being abducted against my will, taken to some unknown underground hideout, and being kept in the dark about my captors good then I’m fantastic.” Twilight said sarcastically.

“Me and my sensei apologized about taking you from your home. But this is only for your protection until we found out who placed the hit on you. But at least we’ve let you have Spike here and we brought you some entertainment.” Silent said as she pointed to a small T.V with a Ponystation 2 hooked up to it.

“Yes that would be entertaining…. if I played Ponystation 2. Do you know how outdated that is? I’m also talking for Spike because he REALLY dislikes Ponystation. Couldn’t you get him, I don’t know, an XHoof 360?” She asked Silent.

“If I could I would but sadly it was destroyed. Sensei was tossing throwing stars and.. it was in the crossfire.” Silent explained as she remembered the accident.

“It’s fine. But at least there’s channels on the T.V.” Twilight said as she grabbed the remote and turned it onto the Equestrian News channel.

In latest stories, Princess Twilight Sparkle was discovered to be marenapped. Around 7:20 A.M, a friend of hers came by when she noticed that her door was open. She went in and found the place a major mess as if there was a struggle. We’ll have a news update later today. The pony on the T.V. said. Twilight sighed and figured that somepony would notice she was missing.

“Well this just got harder. Now you and your sensei are possible fugitives from the law and I can’t help it.” Twilight said as she turned the T.V. off and tossed the remote to the couch.

“It’s nothing we can’t handle.” Silent said plainly.

“So when’s your sensei coming back?” Twilight asked.

“She should be back soon. I’m going to see if she’s returned already. Please stay here.” Silent replied as she opened the door and exited the room, closing the door behind her. Twilight, knowing that she needed to know who these ninjas were, gently laid Spike’s head on a pillow and got up. Trying to make no sound on the creaky floor, she tippy-hooved to the door and opened it enough to see what was going on. She placed her head on the door and saw that it opened up easily meaning that Silent didn’t lock it.

“Well that’s a little embarrassing on her end.” Twilight whispered.

As she made her way up to the entrance, taking her gear off as she did so, Fluttershy soon heard the sound of flapping wings and the feeling of wind brush by her.

“I’m back.” Rainbow said as she also removed some of her gear.

“So what happened?” Fluttershy asked her.

“Hmm? Oh that? Nothing. Nothing happened.” Rainbow replied quickly.

“Rainbow, what really happened? You did talk to Gilda right?” Fluttershy asked.

“Yeah and she had nothing to say. She didn’t do it.” Rainbow said as sweat formed on her brow.

“Are you… blushing? What-”

“Gilda… likes… mares.” Rainbow forced to get out. Fluttershy smiled a little at this.

“I…. kinda figured that Rainbow. During her visit to Ponyville she was very protective of you and didn’t want anypony else near you. It’s normal for a Griffon to do that. Especially if they really like somepony.” She said. Rainbow rubbed the back of her head and blushed a little bit.

“Really? W-well now I feel dumb.” She told Fluttershy.

“Well how did you know she liked you?” Fluttershy asked, causing the mare to blush even more.

“Um… her wings… um… they uh…. they… stiffened a bit.” Rainbow tried to reply, making the pegasus giggle.

“Well then… so what did she know about Twilight?” Fluttershy asked.

“Only what she knew from her first visit and anything from the news. Not much else.” Rainbow said when a thought came to her mind. “Um…. did you lock her door by any chance?”

“Y-yes….. maybe.” Fluttershy stammered a little, her memory not coming back fast enough.

“You didn’t Fluttershy. Or should I call you Silent?” A familiar and pissed voice asked. The two mares turned and saw Twilight with a look on her face that would scare an Ursa Major.

Twilight couldn’t believe it. Her best friends… lied to her. And they lied to her right in her face.

“Heyyyy Twilight…. lookin’ good.” Rainbow said.

“Don’t ‘Hi Twilight’ me Rainbow! How could you?! I trusted you!” Twilight yelled as her horn flared with magic. She sent out some of it so that she could grab Rainbow but was surprised when Rainbow easily sidestepped it and kept moving despite the rapid fire blasting she was shooting.

“Twilight… let me… just… WOULD YOU LET ME EXPLAIN ALREADY?!” She yelled as she ducked under a magical bolt.

“Explain what?! That you and Fluttershy are liars?!” Twilight yelled back.

“We weren’t lying. We were just… keeping this a secret.” Rainbow said.

“Keeping what a secret? That you and her are stone cold killers?! That you murder innocent ponies without a second thought?! I can’t believe that the element of loyalty chose you Rainbow! Fluttershy at least might be kind in a quick death but you don’t deserve it back stabber!” Twilight roared and fired off another magic blast. Rainbow dodged it but her eyes narrowed at the response Twilight gave her. Stone cold killers? Well yeah but only if the victim was really guilty and didn’t deserve their life. Which lead her to the one thing that really turned on her rage trigger. She and Fluttershy did not hurt innocent ponies, no matter what.

“First off, that is way too damn far! We do not kill, I repeat do not kill, innocent ponies! We kill thugs who threaten the innocent! So watch those buckin’ words!” Rainbow growled.

“But why-”

“Would you’ve believed if I told you me and Fluttershy were bucking ninjas?! Would you?!” Rainbow yelled angrily.

“Um… I just…. but you…. THIS ISN’T ABOUT ME RAINBOW! THIS IS ABOUT YOU!” Twilight tried to counter but soon realized her mistake when Rainbow charged head on into her. The two struggled for a bit but Rainbow soon had Twilight trapped in a headlock.

“Now Twilight, listen and listen good. I am the descendant of the ninja, Rioichi Dash, the greatest ninja alive. And I’ve made it my and Fluttershy’s mission to defend the innocent from evil that plagues the streets. Now, I’m going to let you go and don’t you dare blast me. We good?” She asked. Twilight simply nodded and with that, Rainbow released her. “Now… what do you want to know first?”

“Um… I guess how you got into this in the first place.” Twilight said.

“Heh should’ve seen that one coming.”

“MOMMY DADDY LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!” A young blue filly called to her parents who turned to see what she was doing. The filly closed her eyes and started to flare her wings a little before she started buzzing them a little and tried to pick herself up and after a few moments she finally picked herself off the ground and hovered a few inches from it.

“That’s amazing sweetie!” Her mother said happily, making the filly smile even brighter.

“I’m impressed. Now come on Rainbow, lunch is ready.” Her father said, making the filly come back onto the ground and run up to her parents. She leaped to her father who simply grabbed her with open arms and placed her on his back.

“So what’s for lunch daddy?” The filly asked.

“Egg Chow Mein with Rice Dumplings.” He said, making the filly’s stomach growl. The father just smiled. “And it sounds like we’re gonna have it just in time to. Because somepony’s hungry aren’t you Rainbow?” The father jokingly asked the filly who nodded eagerly. They soon sat down in a neighponese style table that was covered in food trays.

“Rainbow, how about you say grace today before we eat?” Her mother asked.

“Alright mommy.” The filly said as she lowered her head, closed her eyes, and placed her hands together. “Celestia, we bless you for this food we’re about to eat that you’ve graced us with. May your sun watch over us as it shines happiness in our lives.” She prayed, finishing with ‘Amen’. Soon after they began to eat and the food just melted in Rainbow’s mouth. It was some of her dad’s best moments with cooking and he didn’t disappoint her today.

“So Rainbow how was your day honey?” The mother asked her.

“It was nice. Those meanies at flight school are still picking on me though.” She replied, causing her father to give a concerned look.

“Did you do what I said to do?” He asked.

“No. I was too scared to do it daddy.” She replied. The father simply sighed as he rubbed his daughter’s head.

“Don’t worry. One day, you’ll be brave enough to take on a manticore.” He said, making her smile.

“Thanks daddy.” She said as she took another dumpling into her mouth. Pure heaven she was eating. Before they could continue there was a phone ringing from the kitchen.

“I’ll get it. Probably Grandpa again Dashie don’t worry.” Her father said with a smile. The moment he picked up the phone though he knew something was wrong.

“Blitz I don’t have much time. You’ve got to get Rainbow and Bifrost out of there now.” The voice told him in a worried tone. Blitz’s eyes widen as he dropped the phone. He soon soon ran back to the dining room with a scared look on his face. “Honey pack what you can. We’re leaving now.” He told his wife.

“Why? What’s-”

“Please don’t argue and get everything valuable. We need to go. He’s coming.” Blitz said, causing Bifrost to get up and start to grab everything important to them.

“Daddy, what’s going on?” Rainbow asked her dad.

“Rainbow sweetie, we need to leave for a while. Go get your teddy bear and your blanket.” Blitz said, making the filly get up and go to her room. She looked around a bit before she found her teddy bear and her blanket. She ran back downstairs to see her parents packing their clothes along with Blitz carrying two swords at his side.

“Daddy why do you have swords?” Rainbow asked.

“Rainbow, go with mommy and run. Run as fast as you can away from here.” Blitz ordered.

“But-”

“Just do what I say okay?” He asked.

“Alright.” She said as she met with her mother who had a suitcase with her.

“Ready Rainbow? When I open this door, we need to run okay sweetie?” Her mother asked. Rainbow simply nodded. Slowly, Bifrost opened the door and saw a black car approach the house. “Damn it. I thought we had time. Come on Rainbow!” Bifrost yelled as her wings flared as she grabbed Rainbow. They soon were in the air and flying as far away from the house as they could. Rainbow looked back and soon heard it…. gunfire. The sound of several machine guns going off at the same time was heard as Rainbow cried out “DADDY!”.

“Don’t look Rainbow!” Her mother said, causing the filly to close her eyes as tightly as she could.

“THERE THEY ARE! SHOOT THEM DOWN!” She heard a voice shouted. Her eyes opened only to see her mother scream in pain as a red liquid came out from behind her back.

“MOM-” Was all she could get out before the two crashed into the ground. Badly, Rainbow was unconscious and could only hear voices.

“Where is it?”

“G-go to tartarus and burn there.” A slap was heard.

“Don’t test me nag! Now I’m going to ask you again. Where. Is. It?” Rainbow heard as she slowly opened her eyes.

“I don’t know! My husband hid it! You should’ve kept him alive to find out!” She heard her mother shout angrily.

“You’re lying. Now, you either tell me where it is… or else I plant one in your filly.” Rainbow was suddenly aware of a cold pressure on her right temple.

“Y-you wouldn’t.” Her mother begged as tears entered her eyes.

“Do you want to try me?”

“NO! Let her go! I’ll tell you anything! Please just don’t hurt her.” Bifrost begged.

“Alright. Now we’re getting somewhere. Where is it?” The voice asked.

“I-It’s hidden in the mountains. In a cavern. T-That’s all I know. P-Please leave me and my filly alone!” She begged.

“I’m sorry. But you outlived your usefulness.” The voice said as the sound of a gunshot was heard.

“I got away soon after but I never did figure out who that bastard was. Twilight he ruined my whole life when all my parents wanted was for me to live a normal life.” Rainbow told her.

“Rainbow… I’m so sorry.” Twilight said as a tear fell from her cheek.

“It’s not your fault. It’s the voice’s owner. I swore to my parents’ graves that I’d find him and do to him what he did to my parents.” Rainbow growled as she punched the wall.

“Rainbow, I could help you. If you wanted, I could read your mind and see if I can track that voice to a pony that lives today.” Twilight told her. Rainbow looked at her incredulously.

“R-really? You would do that for me?” Rainbow asked her. Twilight nodded as she gave a small smile.

“I would Rainbow. You deserve some closure.” Twilight said as she placed a hand on her head. With a quick flash of her horn, Twilight began to scan her memory. She traced through everypony she’s ever met and found it. When she was done, she removed her hand and simply stared at Rainbow.

“Well… who was it?” Rainbow asked. Twilight simply gave her a frowned look.

“I… I don’t know. That voice doesn’t sound like anypony you or I know about. I’m so sorry I couldn’t-”

“I-it’s fine Twilight. I just… I’m gonna find Trixie and see if she placed the hit on you.” Rainbow said as she put her ninja gear back on.

“Rainbow wait!” Twilight yelled. But she was too late as Rainbow leaped out of the window and flew into the sky.

I’m sorry.

A new arrival

Rainbow flew through the air as she wiped the tears trying to escape her eyes. Recently she had told Twilight who she was and what caused her to become the mare she was today. Twilight repaid her honesty by trying to find the owner of a voice that kept replaying in Rainbow’s help but failed. When she learned this Rainbow decided she should try and locate Trixie, a mare with a well known grudge against Twilight Sparkle, and see if she was responsible for placing a hit out on her. She leaped across the rooftops with ease, looking through the alleys and streets for Trixie or any sign of her. She looked and looked but yet… no sign of her. That was until she saw something. Leaping down into an alley, she found a piece of shirt that was stained red with blood. She then saw a small dribbling trail of blood that lead out of the alley. A moment later she placed her mouth guard over her face and walked down to find the source of the trail. She continued along the trail, keeping to the shadows all the way, and soon came across a mare with light blue fur and a silver mane crying her eyes out as she held her arm as it was bleeding.

“Trixie Lulamoon.” She said, gaining the mare’s attention.

“W-What do you want with Trixie?” She asked as tears dribbled from her eyes and onto her bleeding arm, making her wince at the stinging.

“Who do this to you?” Rainbow asked.

“A t-thug tried to rob me b-but he only slashed my arm. N-Now unless you’re going to kill me or help me, leave me alone.” Trixie replied. Rainbow felt a little pity for the mare who tried to ruin her life so she extended a hand to her. “W-what?”

“I’m not going to hurt you. Now will you come with me?” She asked. Trixie seemed a little wary around her with this proposal but took her hand anyways. “Good. Now hold on tight while I get us to a nearby roof.” She said as she place Trixie on her back and started to leap up the fire escape of a building. Trixie held on as tightly as she could while Rainbow leaped up the rusty stairs. After a few jumps, the two were on the building’s roof and the pegasus placed the mare on her back down. While she did this Rainbow pulled out a bandage and wrapped it around Trixie’s arm.

“T-thank you.” Trixie said.

“It’s nothing. Now if you will just hold still this is gonna hurt.” Rainbow told her as she prepared to tighten the bandage. With a tug, Trixie let out a sharp gasp as Rainbow tightened the bandage, making her wince.

“I apologize. But this is to make sure the bleeding stops.”

“Trixie understands. B-But why help me?” She asked.

“I need to know a few things from you. What do you know about Princess Twilight Sparkle?” Rainbow asked.

“Besides that she’s a good friend? She helped me with overcoming my jealousy and everything else. Plus, she was a good marefriend for a while.” Trixie told her. Rainbow suppressed a short giggle at this. It was true that Trixie and Twilight were a thing once but circumstances had forced them to seek other companions though it seemed that Trixie received the bad end of the split up.

“That’s all I needed to hear.” Rainbow said. Before she could leave however she felt something tug at her suit. She turned and saw Trixie with a confused look.

“Why did you ask Trixie that question?”

“Just needed to know some things.” Rainbow replied as she leaped off of the roof and began to run across the others. She ran until she felt something zoom past her ear. She turned and saw a ninja star sticking out of an air conditioning unit. “What the-” before she could finish her statement she felt a fist glide across her face as she turned around and saw a pale white ninja staring right at her.

“A descendant of Riochi Dash I understand?” The ninja asked and Rainbow knew instinctively it was a mare even though she tried to make her voice sound like a stallion. After all she had to do the same thing several times as well.

“That would be me. And who is asking?” Rainbow asked back.

“Just a ninja looking for a challenge. And I chose you. Now, let’s begin!” The white ninja said as she got into a fighting stance. Rainbow huffed as she did the same thing. The battle started with the white ninja charging Rainbow and tried to land a kick but the pegasus grabbed the mare’s leg and flung her into the air conditioning unit, making it crumble like paper.

“That’s an acolyte mistake. With the way you were talking I didn’t expect you to make it.” Rainbow smirked.

“Then you need to be more aware of your surroundings.” The ninja told her as she pointed to the ground under Rainbow’s feet. Right between her legs was a shuriken but Rainbow recognized that this variant could blow up.

“Oh buck!” She shouted just as she jumped to the side and narrowly avoided the explosion. “Nice try. But it’ll be a while before I go out with a bang.” Rainbow said as she ran to the white mare and landed a hard blow to her stomach. The white mare countered by grabbing Rainbow’s wings, pulling the mare over her head and slammed her into the roof, only to have it collapse, making them fall through the old and condemned building. Rainbow glided down and soon landed on her hooves as she saw the mare also do so but with a certain… elegance to them.

“Hmph. Not exactly how I wanted us to continue our fight but it will have to do.” The ninja told Rainbow as she pulled out a short katana. Rainbow returned the motion by pulling out her kusari-gama and twirled the metal ball end a little. Rainbow swung the ball around in a circle, hoping to hit the mare but only made her ball ting off her katana. The mare threw her weapon and it made a lucky strike as it impaled her leg. Rainbow screamed in pain as her leg soon started to flow with a familiar crimson liquid.

“Oops.” The mare said. Rainbow growled as she switched her weapon and swung the blade, slashing the mare’s stomach. It wasn’t fatal but she knew it was gonna hurt her for a while.

“Y-you’re not half bad. Better than the last ninja who fought me anyways. The only thing left of him was his head by the time I was done.” Rainbow told the mare. “N-now do yourself a favor and go h-home now.” She ordered the mare who giggled a little.

“I-it was an…. interesting encounter to say the least descendant of Riochi. I-I must say it was more fun than what I thought it would be. W-we will meet again.” She told Rainbow as she tossed a smoke grenade at her feet. When the mare was gone, Rainbow yanked the katana out of her leg and limped over to a chair. She sat down and grabbed her phone out and dialed 9-1-1.

9-1-1 what’s your emergency? A stallion’s voice asked on the receiving end.

“Yeah I would like to report an injured pony on the rooftop of the apartments on Nimbus and Stratus street. Medical assistance is needed.” She told the stallion. She flared her wings and flew out the hole the other ninja caused by tossing her through it.

“I hope Fluttershy knows how to stitch up holes.”

Meanwhile on a nearby roof, somepony was watching Rainbow fly. She had a shade of greenish blue fur and a lightning blonde mane and tail. Her outfit was almost like an upgraded version of Fluttershy’s outfit as the normally leather portions were now metallic and her mouth guard was a gleaming yellow. She had bright yellow eyes that kept on the cyan blue mare.

“Soon… I shall be with you again. Soon, I can reveal myself to you… sister.”

Ooh. Where is she? Fluttershy worried in her thoughts as she looked out of the dojo’s window. It’s been a few hours since Rainbow had left and since then, Fluttershy and Twilight were worried about their friend. The pegasus mare tried everything to calm down. Reading a book, try meditating, but nothing work. Twilight did the same with similar results as her friend. Before both mares began to really panic, however, they both saw a familiar blue blur zoom towards the entrance of the Dojo.

“Rainbow! Thank goodness you’re-” Fluttershy started until she gasped at the sight in front of her. Rainbow’s leg had a large hole in it that was leaking a crimson liquid. “What happened?!” She asked as she grabbed her friend and helped her over to a bench.

“D-Damn ambush. Found out that Trixie isn’t the one.” She groaned as she held the hole in her leg. Fluttershy helped her to the med bay and pulled out some bandages and gauze. Rainbow groaned as she felt the wrappings go around her leg as Fluttershy tried to help the wound heal. A few moments later Twilight walked in and saw her wounded friend.

“Rainbow what… did Trixie-”

“N-not her. I was an-OW! DANG IT FLUTTERS!” She hissed.

“Sorry!” She quickly apologized. After a minute, she had the wound completely covered in bandages.

“That’s better.” Rainbow said as she massaged the bandages.

“Rainbow, what were you saying?” Twilight asked.

“It’s not Trixie but she really needs to learn to move on with her life. But after I left her I was ambushed. It was another ninja but I didn’t get a chance to see her symbol-”

“Wait what?” Twilight asked. Rainbow grunted a little as she moved her vest up and showed Twilight her belt to reveal a strange symbol. It was the symbol for Yin and Yang but instead of black and white swirls, it was a black dragon and a white tiger that chased each other’s tails.

“It’s how the ninjas can tell which clan they belong to. So we can discern friends, family, and even sometimes rouge clans. Yes there are some clans out there that don’t agree with protecting other.” Rainbow said as she saw the shocked look on Twilight’s face. “These rogue clans are dangerous and they don’t care who they have to hurt to get what they want. This ninja… she didn’t seem like a rogue. If anything she would’ve stopped before she might’ve killed me.” Rainbow stated as she tried to stand up and soon felt the wound’s pain travel up her leg.

“Rainbow you really need to lay down for a little bit for now. Non lethal or not that wound is serious.” Fluttershy said with concern in her voice.

“You kiddin’?! It’s f-AAH!” Rainbow screamed as she fell to the ground. Fluttershy grabbed her by the arm and picked her up. “Maybe you’re right. C’mon.” Rainbow said as she limped to her room with Fluttershy keeping her up. When Fluttershy placed Rainbow in the bed, she came back out and saw Twilight with a look of sadness on her face.

“Is she going to be-”

“She’ll be fine Twilight. It’s not the worst I’ve seen her.” Fluttershy said. Seeing the confused look on Twilight’s face Fluttershy sat down and began to explain.

A few years ago, a while after Rainbow met Fluttershy, Rainbow was in Cloudsdale High School. It was the middle of the day and class just ended, signaling the beginning of lunch. As Rainbow left the classroom, she noticed something happening down by the lockers. She saw Fluttershy… crying.

“Fluttershy what’s wrong?” Rainbow asked her as she approached the crying pegasus mare.

“Oh i-it’s nothing.” Fluttershy tried to lie as she wiped her eyes. This didn’t fool the cyan pegasus as she laid a hand on her shoulder and helped her up.

“Flutters you and I both know you’re bad at lying… who was it this time?” Rainbow asked seriously. She was about to answer when Rainbow noticed a bruise on her cheek. “Really?! He did this again?! Fluttershy why don’t you break up with him?!” She asked angrily.

“H-He said he’d find me and break my wings i-if I did.” She sobbed as tears fell from her eyes.

“Where is he now?” Rainbow asked.

“H-He’s in the lunchroom.” Fluttershy replied. Rainbow snorted in anger as she flared her wings and flew towards the lunch room. She arrived soon after and looked around to find the bucker who hurt her friend. She soon saw the prick leaning up against the wall. His fur was black and his mane and tail were red.

“HEY!” Rainbow shouted his way, getting his attention.

“Well well. If it isn’t Rainbow Crash.” He said, making Rainbow growl. “Oh what are you going do this ti-” Before he could finish Rainbow pulled him away from the wall and punched him square in the jaw. “YOU LITTLE BITCH!” He roared as he returned the punch in full force and sent Rainbow flying. Rainbow groaned as she tried to stand up only to get kicked by the pegasus again.

“G-go buck yourself Brood Wing.” She grumbled as the stallion picked her up and punched her again. The wounds didn’t leave a mark, the stallion had done this plenty of times to know how to avoid that kind of mistake, and soon Rainbow was just lying on the ground groaning.

“I always said mare were born to obey stallions.” Brood said as she went over and picked up Rainbow by the mane. But then, using her strength, Rainbow landed a hard punch between his legs, making him scream as he fell to the floor.

“You were saying s-something asshole-”

“Rainbow Miriam Dash!” A loud voice called out. Rainbow turned around and got wide eyes as she saw the principal walking towards her.

“She told me that short fight was one of the worst beatings she ever got. I didn’t doubt her but..”

“But what Fluttershy?”

“Then she told me she was gonna pay Brood Wing a visit.”

A few hours later, night has fallen and everypony in Cloudsdale was sleeping. All but one teen who was running through the streets. She was wearing solid black and had a switchblade in her hand. “Teach that motherbucker to hurt my friends.” She whispered as she approached her destination. Just as she figured the bastard had a very wealthy family who probably spoiled him rotten. She pulled up the scarf she wore to cover her muzzle and pulled a hood over her head to cover her mane as she approached it. She leaped over the fence and saw where Brood lived. A large mansion with just a couple of security guards. Nothing that she couldn’t get by. With a few flaps of her wings, she took into the air and silently flew up to the upper floor of the mansion. She quickly grabbed a ledge from the balcony that hung from it as she saw a guard in front of the door. Thinking quickly she made a small bird whistle sound to draw the guard out.

“What the-” The guard said as he walked over to where the sound came from. He looked over the edge and saw nothing. He shrugged and was about to walk back when something wrapped itself around him. Rainbow had the guard in a sleeper hold. The guard struggled to get free but Rainbow’s tight grip made it impossible.

“Ssh. Ssh. It’ll be over soon.” She whispered as the guard moved less and less. After a few minutes, the guard was unconscious. She moved him over out of the sight so that nopony could see him. After the unconscious body was hidden she pulled out some lock picking tools and opened the door quietly and then slipped in. She saw the prick sleeping peacefully as though he had no bucks to give to the world.

“Well Broody, time to make you pay.”

“S-She stabbed him nine times in the chest. T-They never found out that she killed him and s-she’s regretted it her whole life.”

“O-Oh my goodness.” Was Twilight’s only response to that story. She knew Rainbow had anger issues in the past but that… that was cold blooded murder. Obviously she did regret it later on but still… that kind of baggage isn’t something you keep hidden. “So how did you know?”

“S-she came to me after she stabbed him.”

“Psst. Fluttershy. Hey Fluttershy wake up.” Rainbow said as she shook the mare on the shoulder. Slowly, Fluttershy woke up and saw Rainbow wearing a black jumpsuit that was drenched in red.

“R-Rainbow? What’s…. is that b-blood?” Fluttershy asked as she felt like she was going to faint.

“Please don’t panic Flutters. I know what it looks like-”

“W-what did y-you do Rainbow?” Fluttershy stammered as she touched the suit and felt that it was blood.

“I made sure he won’t hurt you again Fluttershy.” Rainbow said with a smile on her face. Instead of smiling back at her Rainbow was shocked to see that Fluttershy tried to back away from her.

“R-Rainbow. You k-k-killed Brood?” Fluttershy stammered as she backed away.

“It was the only option. If I didn’t he’d-” She started. But Fluttershy got out of her bed and reached to her cell phone. “No. No please no.” Rainbow begged.

“Rainbow, you killed somepony! I have too!”

“I did it to protect you though! If I didn’t he would’ve hurt you or worse! I had no choice!”

“Y-you always have a choice Rainbow. Only a monster believes otherwise.” Fluttershy told her friend with tears in her eyes. Rainbow just stared at her as she lifted her own hands up and saw the blood in them. She started to panic a little and rubbed them through her head.

“W-What’ve I done?! I’m a monster!”

“Fluttershy, that must’ve been hard for her.”

“It was. I wanted to call the guards but… I just couldn’t. She was my best friend.” Fluttershy said as a tear fell from her eye.

“Fluttershy, please tell me that we’ll help her find her parents’ killer.”

“W-Wha-”

“I want you to promise to me right now… that no matter how hard it is and how long it takes, we’ll help Rainbow find the killer.” Twilight said as she held her friend’s hand. Fluttershy just looked at her and nodded. They both soon heard a commotion and saw Spike finally walk out of the bed room.

“Um Twilight…. why is Fluttershy dressed like a ninja?”

Twilight looked back and forth between Fluttershy and the now awake Spike who was still rubbing his eyes. She was trying to find the right words to explain what Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were.

“Um… uh…. Spike, this isn’t real. You’re still dreaming.” She said, trying to trick him. Spike just looked at her with a look that stated that he wasn’t fooled at all by what she was saying.

“Really Twilight? Then how come I can touch everything in here?” Spike said as he poked and prodded everything in his line of vision. Before Twilight could say another word there was a whistling sound and soon Spike had a dart sticking out of his neck and he fell to the floor asleep.

“Sorry about that.” A pained voice said. The two mares looked and saw Rainbow Dash with a blowgun in her hand. Fluttershy gasped.

“Rainbow. You shouldn’t be standing. That leg won’t get better if you keep moving around.” She said as she approached her friend. Fluttershy gasped as she saw Rainbow’s leg was bleeding out worse than before.

“Come on Fluttershy it’s not that bad. I’ve had worse scars on my body. Remember that time in Las Pegasus? That was some nasty stuff-”

“Rainbow don’t try and lie to me please? I know when you lie.” Fluttershy said as she tried to force Rainbow back into the bed but the cyan pegasus was going to have none of it at all.

“No. I need to get to Chrysalis. She’s next on our inspection list.” Rainbow said as she tried to walk out. But then she winced as a sharp pain shot through her leg, sending her onto her back.

“See? Your body won’t let you move either. Just please lay down?” Fluttershy pleaded. Rainbow sighed and appealed to Fluttershy’s wishes and got back into her bed. “Thank you.” Fluttershy looked over her body and soon saw that the wound on her leg was starting to get infected but slowly. She reached over and pulled out some herbs and medicine she had in stock.

“Rainbow, this might sting a bit.” Fluttershy warned as she grabbed the rubbing alcohol and poured it onto a cotton swab. When the swab touched the wound, Rainbow shrieked in pain as she clenched her leg.

“CELESTIA ABOVE THAT HURTS LIKE TARTARUS!”

“Sorry but it’s to make sure the infection doesn’t spread through the rest of your body.” Fluttershy said as she patted the area again causing Rainbow to grunt this time.

“T-thanks Fluttershy.” Rainbow said as she nodded off. Fluttershy smiled and took the old bandages off and replaced them with some new ones. She then turned her attention back to Twilight.

“So Chrysalis is next?” The lavender mare asked.

“Yes. But I’ll go. Rainbow isn’t in the right condition to find her. Could you stay here and watch her for me?” The pegasus asked.

“Sure. What are friends for?” She asked, making Fluttershy smile.

“Thank you.” Fluttershy said happily as she tucked her friend in. As she put her gear on her she noticed the still sleeping drake and picked him up and placed him back in the room. The yellow ninja then headed back out into the night but didn’t notice the new figure in the shadows who soon snuck in.

Forgive me my friends but Twilight is essential to my sensei’s plan… I cannot allow my sister to pay for my weakness. The figure said as she snuck towards the dojo.

Meanwhile, somewhere on the outskirts of Ponyville, a figure was walking down a dirt path. The figure’s face was however covered by a black hood. Armed to the figure’s side was a small dagger that was stained orange with aged blood. He continued to walk down the road towards his destination. He planned on seeing an old friend and nothing was going to stand in his way.

“HEY OLD TIMER!” Except maybe an idiot thug and his dumb ass friends. The figure sighed and turned only to see about four or five thugs. What a shame… and here I thought this was going to take long. The figure thought before he smiled towards the thugs.

“What’s so happy to you old man? The fact that-” One of the thugs started… until a throwing star sliced through the air and the thug’s throat, splashing the ground with his crimson blood.

“WHAT THE-” Another thug started to shout when the cloaked figure moved at an impressive speed and sliced through the thug’s stomach with his dagger, spilling his guts like a fish. Before even one more thug could move the figure suddenly dashed in between them at incredible speeds and soon stopped in front of the leader. He flicked his dagger and got some of the blood off as he slowly put the knife back in it’s sheath. The moment it clicked with it three new corpses fell to the ground in pieces.

“Hmm. Now…. to find her.” The figure said as he continued on the path.

Back at the dojo, Twilight sat next to Rainbow Dash as she laid in her bed. She kept her leg uncovered so that it would be able to breathe and heal better.

“Rainbow I hope you get feeling better soon. I don’t think I can handle… wait you only have a hurt leg.” Twilight said as she went from concerned to deadpan in about ten seconds. As she was sitting next to her friend she failed to hear the sound of rushing wind as something rushed by her. By the time she registered the cold rush somepony had already locked there arm around her throat and a hand over her mouth. The weird feeling over her mouth told Twilight that both hands were gloved. She wanted to scream but then she felt a point touch her throat.

“I wouldn’t let out a peep if I were you.” A deep voice said. “Now, you’re going to come with me or I paint your friend and this room crimson with your blood.” The voice threatened. Twilight looked to Rainbow and then at the point and then nodded. “Very well and I really am sorry about this next part.” The voice said before hitting a pressure point and knocking Twilight out. The figure sighed as it put Twilight over it’s shoulder and started to walk out of the dojo. Before it could leave, however, the pony then saw a sleeping Spike in his room. The figure simply moaned as it continued on. But then, a hard object slammed into its back, sending her forward and drop Twilight. The figure quickly shot up and saw Rainbow Dash with a kunai in her hand.

“Leave… my friend… alone.” The blue mare growled.

“Egh… quite impressive descendant of Riochi. I figured you were still asleep but your skills were far more impressive than I give you credit.”

“I have a talent for faking being asleep. Heck you should stick around and hear how I spend most of my days snoring on a cloud.” Rainbow smirked as she tightened her grip on the kunai.

“Be that as it may I have a mission and I can’t allow anypony to stand in my way so do forgive me.” The ninja said as it pulled out a sword.

“Well then… looks like I’m makin’ sushi!” Rainbow said as she charged forward. She swung wildly with her kunai but the swings were blocked, making sparks from the clashing metal go into the air. The ninja started to swing and Rainbow blocked all of the quick strikes. In the middle of a swing, Rainbow grabbed the ninja’s arm and twisted it, making the sword drop as the sound of cracking bones were heard.

“AAAAAHHHH!!” The ninja cried and now Rainbow could confirm her earlier suspicions that the ninja was in fact a mare. Before she could keep her down the ninja kicked Rainbow in the gut and then punched her bad leg. Not enough to break it but just so she could feel it.

“AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!” Rainbow cried as she gripped her leg in pain. The ninja smiled under her mouthguard and tried to wrap her own injured arm up in a makeshift armrest. Just as she finished Rainbow launched herself at her and grabbed the face mask.

“Now to see who you really are!” Rainbow said as she used all of the strength in her hand. Then as she pressed onto it, the mouthguard shattered like glass. But when the face was completely revealed, Rainbow felt as if her heart had stopped beating.

“R-Rarity?!”

“Sorry about this darling.” Rarity said as she threw a dart at Rainbow that hit her arm. The drug from the dart was potent enough that she soon felt dizzy and collapsed onto the floor soon after.
