The Start of Something Wonderful

Twilight hummed tunelessly to herself as she trotted down the dirt path towards Sweet Apple Acres. A large grin was plastered on her face and she was even skipping a little. It was a very nice day, warm but with a cooling breeze. Usually, even on days such as this one, Twilight would probably still be inside researching or reading for the fun of it. But ever since she and Rainbow Dash started dating, researching became the second most important aspect of her life.

Twilight tried to contain her excitement, but she couldn't help but smile. I can't believe it! It's been two whole months since I asked out Rainbow Dash! Twilight sighed contentedly, remembering how she had finally worked up the courage to ask out the brash pegasus. It hadn't been easy, and planning the best way to ask her on a date almost caused her another nervous breakdown on it's own, not to mention actually going through it. In the end, however, it was worth all the stress and anxiety when she heard that one word. Yes.

Twilight was jarred from her thoughts as she accidentally trotted right into an apple tree. Twilight muttered a small ow as she bounced off the surprisingly sturdy tee. Okay, maybe I should focus more on where I'm walking instead of thinking of Dash, Twilight thought rubbing her head. Twilight scanned the orchard, hoping to spot her friend. Right now Twilight was on a mission, one that would hopefully give Rainbow Dash a pleasant surprise.

Twilight gave a small "Aha," as she spotted who she was looking for "Applejack!" Twilight called out as she trotted towards her.

Applejack wiped a few droplets of sweat from her brow, while the weather was nice, it was still a little too warm for her liking. She was in mid buck, as she heard Twilight. Applejack raised her head as her name was called, and grinned seeing who it was "Well, Ah didn't think Ah would see ya today, Twilight." Applejack's smile faltered a bit, but she quickly replaced it with a large grin.

Twilight didn't seem to notice the small change of expression, much to Applejack's relief "Well, I was wondering if you had any extra cider you could give me? I know you always try and keep a few extra barrels, and I'll gladly pay you for them." Twilight smiled "You know how much Dash loves cider, and I think she'd love the surprise."

"Well...that's mighty nice of ya Twilight." Applejack replied "Dash's lucky ta have ya." Did I just say that!?

Twilight smiled at the compliment, but was a little confused at how her friend was acting. Applejack's cheeks were red, and she looked a little flustered. Probably from bucking apples all morning, Twilight thought, but something was in the back of her mind telling her that that wasn't the reason.

"Uh, thanks AJ." Twilight chuckled "That's really nice of you to say."

"Uh...yeah." Applejack replied, growing quiet before quickly turning around "Um, Ah do have a few extra mugs of cider if ya want them."

"Really!?" Twilight exclaimed "You're a lifesaver AJ!!" Twilight beamed, hearing the good news. She leaned over and gave Applejack a hug. She looked in surprise as Applejack stiffened, before quickly pushing herself away from Twilight.

"Don't mention it Twi, let's just get you that cider so ya can be on your way." Applejack said, feeling her cheeks grow hot. Although this time it wasn't because of the suns unforgiving rays.

Twilight raised an eyebrow "What's wrong Applejack? Every time I've seen you this week you've been acting a little odd."

Applejack gave a short laugh "Ah've been acting perfectly normal!" She unconvincingly said, "Ah've been nothing but absolutely, completely normal!"

Twilight's eyes narrowed "Applejack, I can tell when you're lying." Twilight stepped closer to her as Applejack gulped "What's wrong? Are you mad at me?" Twilight's determined gaze softened "C'mon, you know I hate it when my friends aren't feeling their best."

Applejack shook her head, sweating "I swear, Ah'm just dandy." Applejack started backing away from Twilight once more "But Ah really need ta get ta work, so Ah'll just get your cider now and ya can be on your way!" Applejack tried to run, but found herself locked into place.

Applejack strained, and tried as best she could to escape. But Twilight's magic was too strong. Twilight walked in front of Applejack, who had a light, glittery, purple aura around her. Twilight frowned "Please, Applejack? I'm not going to leave without an answer."

Applejack was speechless as she looked into Twilight's eyes. She had tired her best to stay away from Twilight for a few weeks, so she wouldn't do something stupid. But right now she felt doing something stupid was inevitable "There's no way that ya can just drop this?" Applejack asked quietly, hoping this last ditch effort would get Twilight to leave her alone.

Twilight shook her head "Listen, I want to be there for my friends. You can tell me anything, and I'll promise to help in any way possible!"

Applejack looked at Twilight's comforting smile, and slowly nodded "Ah, guess Ah don't really have choice."

Applejack felt herself being released from the magic, as Twilight stared at her, waiting patiently. Applejack, opened her mouth...but no words came out. "Ah, Ah've always kind of...." She trailed off wondering why what she had been dying to say just wouldn't come.

Twilight frowned, beginning to get worried. Something was obviously bothering Applejack, and it looked like it was starting to become a real issue "Look, Applejack I know you don't want to tell me bu-" her sentence was cut short as Applejack sprang forward and planted her lips on Twilight's.

Twilight was surprised, and for a few seconds stood frozen in shock as Applejack's surprisingly soft lips met her own. Then, coming back to her senses, she pushed herself away from Applejack.

"APPLEJACK!?" Twilight shouted, confused and angry "I'm dating Rainbow Dash, and you do this!?"

Applejack's eyes widened in shock "Ah'm sorry Twilight! Ah didn't mean ta-"

Twilight interrupted her friend "Why!? This isn't something that friends do!" Applejack saw the betrayed look on Twilight's face, and it made her feel even more guilty.

Applejack looked at Twilight, trying to think of what to say "Ah've had a small crush on ya ever since we met, and Ah thought Ah was over it. But these last few weeks Ah've realized that I really like ya. Ah know you're dating Dash, so Ah tried to stop my feelings but I just-." She sighed in frustration "Ah'm sorry, okay...Ah just couldn't stop myself."

It was Twilight's turn to be silent, she slowly backed as she processed what Applejack said "Applejack, I...I need some time to think about...this. I think it'd be best if I leave." Twilight turned, and trotted towards her home, feeling guilty about just leaving Applejack there, but feeling more guilt at having kissed another mare behind Rainbow's back. Well, it's not like it was your choice! Applejack did it.

Applejack watched Twilight go with a pained expression. She had tried to force the feelings away, and when that didn't work she hid them from Twilight. But now, you've gone and done it! Applejack sat down in the shade of a nearby apple tree, and mentally chided herself. Why, why would you do that!? All you had to do was hold those feelings back, why in Equestria would you even think that she'd like you back when she's already dating Rainbow Dash!

Groaning, Applejack titled her head against the tree and closed her eyes. This is horrible...She thought, making a small sigh. Applejack knew that it was a horrible mistake to have just kissed her, but another part of her was glad she did it. Yeah, glad I ruined our friendship over something that could've been avoided...Maybe today wasn't such a nice day.

Rainbow Dash was lounging on the couch in the living room of the library, skimming the first Daring Do book, when Twilight burst through the front door.

Rainbow Dash, glanced up from the book and smiled "It's about time ya got back!" Rainbow Dash closed the book and lightly tossed it onto a nearby table, still not noticing Twilight's frantic expression. "Daring Do is good and all, but after the first ten times you read the first book it gets a little stale."

Twilight hurried over to Rainbow Dash "Dash, I have to tell you what just happened. Just promise me you won't freak out!" Applejack, why did you have to go and kiss me of all things!

"Whoa, calm down there Twi." Rainbow Dash chuckled "You look like you've seen a ghost or something."

Twilight sat down next to Dash on the couch, and frowned "Please take this seriously! I was at Applejack's, and well, she sort of did something!" Twilight sighed as Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow.

Oh no! Not 'something'!" Rainbow Dash sarcastically replied.

"Dash! She kissed me on the lips and confessed her feelings for me!" Twilight looked at now shocked pegasus with a stern expression "Will you take this seriously now?"

Rainbow Dash was in stunned silence, she had expected a checklist mistake or something "You mean, she kissed you!?" Rainbow Dash felt anger beginning to bubble inside of her. Applejack knows we're dating! Why the hay would she do this to us!?

"Yeah, she's been acting weird around me for a while now, and when I questioned her she kissed me!" Twilight frowned "I just kind of left her there after she confessed that she liked me."

Rainbow Dash got off of the couch, and stamped towards the door "When I find Applejack I'm gonna-I'm....I don't know what I'll do, but it'll be something!" Rainbow Dash angrily exclaimed. On some level, Rainbow Dash knew that this was no solution. But on the other hoof, this was not okay, and would not be forgiven quickly.

Twilight quickly jumped in front of the pegasus "No, she probably already feels bad enough!" Twilight said "I already left her there after her confession, and she looked pretty upset." Twilight looked at the angry mare "Please, I know you're mad but going over there and shouting at her won't make things any better for anypony."

Rainbow Dash frowned as she started pacing back and forth "Well, how the hay do you expect to handle this!" Rainbow Dash let out frustrated sigh "How could she do this to you? To me!"

Twilight frowned "I guess she really couldn't hold her feelings in any longer...probably didn't help that I kept questioning her about why she was acting strange." Twilight walked over to the the couch and laid down on it "Can we please talk about this logically?"

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes "Logically? What's there to talk about, Applejack betrayed our friendship." She felt like arguing more, but seeing Twilight's confused expression; she tried to calm herself down. Nodding her head, Rainbow Dash relented "Fine, but I'm only doing this for you. I'm still mad."

Twilight managed a small smile "Thanks Dashie, I really need your help with this one."

Rainbow Dash frowned, sitting next to her "Well, you know how much I take loyalty seriously. I'll try and calm down for you though."

Twilight nodded "This is something that we both need to talk about."

"Well, whatever it is you have to say; I'm all ears." Rainbow Dash replied.

Twilight frowned "It's just that I can't really think of what to do. I like Applejack, I really do. But I only like her as a good friend, nothing more. But look at what happend, things will never be the same between us! Think of what this does to our friendship!" Twilight groaned, rubbing her temple "There's no way out of this!"

Rainbow Dash remained silent, thinking about what Twilight had said. It did seem that there wasn't any way out of this that wouldn't leave somepony hurt. Well, there's always...Rainbow Dash shook her head "No, that's a horrible idea." She muttered. Think of how well that worked last time, and there's no way Twi would go for a-

Twilight raised her head "What's a horrible idea?" Rainbow Dash jumped, realizing that she had spoken out loud.

"Oh, nothing." Rainbow Dash shrugged "Just a bad idea..." She trailed off hoping that she'd leave it alone.

Of course, by now Twilight was more curious than ever "Dash, at this point anything would help." Seeing the reluctance in her eyes, Twilight leaned closer to her "C'mon Dashie! The sooner we fix this, the sooner we can go on our date." Twilight put on her best puppy dog face, Rainbow's biggest weakness.

Rainbow Dash sighed "Fine, you and that cute face of yours win. But just don't get angry at me for this, I already told you I thought it was a dumb idea." Twilight stayed silent, so Rainbow Dash took it as a sign to continue.

"Well, when you said that there was no way out of this, or at least a good way, I realized you were right. I thought, there can't anything that we could do that wouldn't leave somepony unhappy, obviously you're not going to break up with me." Her confident tone was replaced with a slightly nervous one "Right?"

Twilight rolled her eyes "Dash, that never even crossed my mind." She enveloped her in a hug "You know I could never replace you!"

Rainbow chuckled nervously "Yeah, well sometimes I forget." She coughed embarrassingly into her hoof "Anyways, it reminded me of an of an old relationship of mine. I was dating this girl named StormySkies, and we were happy together and all that jazz, but she told me one day that she wanted to date this stallion named Hurricane."

Twilight frowned "Wait, so she broke up with you? How does that help our situation!"

Rainbow Dash shook her head "C'mon Twi, wait until story time is over. When she said that I was pretty sad, we had a good thing going. But Stormy told me that she didn't want to break up with me, she just wanted to 'invite' him into the relationship." Rainbow Dash chuckled lightly at Twilight's shocked expression.

"Again, you'll regret questioning me." Rainbow Dash said, before continuing with her story "Well, for a while it worked. We were all happy and had fun together, but Stormy got jealous that Hurricane and I were spending more time with each other than with her."

"We had a pretty big fight, and I really don't want to go into details, let's just say vases were thrown. After that, Stormy left and Hurricane and I stayed together, but that didn't last too long after Stormy left. I'm not really opposed to any sort of polygamous relationship, heck I've been in one, and this is the only way to make Applejack happy without us breaking up." Rainbow Dash stopped talking, and looked at Twilight for her response.

"You...can't be serious right? A polygamous relationship with you and Applejack!?" Twilight stared "Have you gone insane!"

Rainbow Dash shrugged "Well, it's not exactly like it's rare to see three or four ponies together, and it's the only thing that came to mind without having anybody left out." She shook her head "I told you it was a dumb thought, I mean you would never go for it."

Twilight wanted to agree that it was stupid, but closed her mouth. She didn't want to hurt Applejack, and at the same time she sure wasn't leaving Dash for her "It's really the only solution that might work..." Twilight said, looking at Rainbow "But it's not a good idea, even if it might work in theory."

Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow "Wait, are you actually considering this?" Rainbow Dash could tell from her expression that she was. Why did I open my mouth? I mean it's not like it would be terrible, dating Applejack along with Twilight. Rainbow Dash shook her head lightly, alright, stop that right now

Twilight quickly shook her head "No! Of course, I wouldn't!" Rainbow Dash saw the unsure look on Twilight's face and was surprised not to feel anger, but calm.

"Listen, I'm not saying we all would just become marefriends." Rainbow started slowly "We could ask if she would like to go on a date with us, and sort of see how it works out...in theory, of course." Rainbow added, trying to remain calm for Twilight's sake. She was starting to become less angry, and she needed to stay cool and collected for Twilight.

"I mean, I would've thought it could never be done up until a few years ago." Rainbow Dash frowned "I guess it's something that I'd be willing to try if you're up for it."

Twilight frowned "How could I do that to you? To us? Plus, what if it fails and everything ends up worse!?"

Rainbow Dash pulled Twilight into a hug, allowing Twilight's head to rest on her shoulder "We need to go to Applejack's and do something, whether it's offer her a date to try and make everypony happy or tell her off, I'm right with you. Trust me, this is a really weird situation, and this couldn't really make things any worse than outright rejecting her."

Twilight smiled, she didn't now how the blunt and tactless Rainbow Dash could always comfort her, but she was glad that she did. "Okay, I'm still not sold on this...but we could at least offer, right? If anything, this will help make Applejack feel better. I mean, just doing this for Applejack's sake couldn't hurt."

Rainbow Dash smiled softly "Exactly, this couldn't possibly end up worse that me going over there and yelling at her."

Twilight nodded "Alright, but could you go ask her? I'm still a little flustered with the whole kiss thing."

Rainbow Dash got off of the couch "Alright, but if at any point during this that you want to call this off, I'll be glad to. I'm mainly doing this for your sake and Applejack's, so I'll try not to get angry at her."

"I know, and that's really sweet of you." Twilight said, giving Rainbow Dash a small peck on the lips before she left to go to Sweet Apple Acres, and hopefully manage to fix everything.

Applejack was laying down in her barn, with her eyes closed, when she heard someone open the barn door. She hoped her brother or sister would get whatever they wanted and leave. The last thing I need is them questioning me. Applejack sighed in a mixture of sadness and frustration. You just had to go and tell her! Rainbow and Twi probably hate me now, and I don't really blame them. Applejack was preparing to spend the rest of her day inside her room, hoping that she would think of a good way to apologize, even though she still liked Twilight more than a friend. Applejack was about to get off of the hay to head inside when she felt somepony jab her side.

"Go away, Applebloom." Applejack said "Ah'm not in the mood for any games."

"Well, I'm not Applebloom, and I'm not in the mood to just hover here and watch you sleep." A voice that most definitely did not belong to Applebloom replied.

Applejack's eyes shot open as she found Rainbow Dash flying over her, with her hooves crossed. "R-Rainbow! Ah sorry Ah kissed Twi but Ah just couldn't stop-"

She was cut off as Rainbow Dash landed next to her "Listen, I'm not exactly thrilled about that, but I'm not here to kick your flank." She watched Applejack's uneasy expression "I came here to ask you a question."

Applejack frowned, feeling a bit better that Rainbow Dash didn't hate her "What question?"

"Twilight and I talked things over, and we would like to ask you out on a date." Rainbow Dash responded, almost hoping Applejack would say no so that they all could move past the kiss.

Applejack stared at the pegasus as if she was insane, and Rainbow Dash thought she might be a bit if she was going through with the plan. "...Ah don't think Ah heard that right, did ya just ask me if-"

"C'mon AJ, do ya want to go on a picnic with Twi and I or not?" Rainbow Dash tried not to laugh, the situation was strange and uncomfortable, but Applejack's shocked expression was still hilarious.

"Ya mean with Twilight and ya?" Applejack stared at Rainbow Dash "Ah'm really confused right now, Ah thought ya were gonna yell at me at least."

"Listen, Twi and I don't want to see one of our best friends hurt, and it couldn't hurt to see if this whole thing will work. Of course, that's if you want to try it. Who knows, it might at least make you feel better." Rainbow Dash smiled "I really don't want our friendship to suffer from this."

Applejack nodded, unsure of what to think about the whole thing. so, she decide to go with her gut "Well, Ah do want ya two ta forgive me. Plus, I've had these feelings for a while, and I still like Twilight."

Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes "Okay, first off, we all have to like each other if this even has a chance of working. I'm not saying we can just look at each other this way, but maybe it would be a good thing if we started considering each other as...potential marefriends." Rainbow Dash had an unsure expression "And I honestly don't know how I feel about the three of us dating, I mean your my best friend, and having you with Twi and I doesn't sound like a horrible idea."

Applejack nodded "Your right, Ah like Twilight a lot. But you and I got tons in common, and we always hang out! Maybe it wouldn't be too strange if we started dating."

Rainbow Dash looked away, blushing slightly "Yeah, well all I'm saying is that we should keep an open mind. For all our sakes."

Rainbow Dash managed a grin "Alright, let's head up to the White Tail woods, Twi's there at this spot that overlooks Ponyville. "

Applejack smiled "Oh, Ah know that place! Ah used to play up in that clearing when Ah was a filly."

Rainbow Dash smiled too as they walked out of the barn "Yeah, we had one of our first races up there, right?"

"Sure did, and I would've won too, if you hadn't used your wings." Applejack playfully smirked.

"Oh not this again!" Rainbow Dash said exasperatedly, but still chuckling.

Rainbow Dash and Applejack had kept up a steady stream of small talk for almost the whole walk to their destination. Surprisingly, everything was feeling almost natural. It was like it was just two friends going to see another friend for dinner, except at the same time completely different. Either way, Dash was finding herself more interested in the theoretical idea of them all dating than she would care to let on.

"Hey, AJ?" Rainbow Dash started as they began trotting uphill, on a path barely visible under thick grass.

"Yeah, sugarcuube?" Applejack replied.

"I've been thinking, and I want to say I forgive you." Rainbow Dash smiled nervously "I mean, we're best friends, and sometihng like this shouldn't change that. So if this doesn't work out, I don't want anything to change. I'm sure Twilight feels the same."

Applejack rubbed the back of her head "Heh, well Ah'm glad Dash." She was grinning, what Dash had said quelled her fear of them hating her, and managed to even make her more hopeful about the date.

Rainbow Dash looked away from the mare "Yeah, well If I had to share Twi with anypony else, you would probably be the one." Rainbow Dash was surprised to find that she meant it, I'm really warming up to this aren't I?

"That's the weirdest compliment, Ah've ever heard." Applejack stated causing both mares to erupt with laughter. As they left the small dirt road and walked out of the cluster of trees, they were meet with an empty clearing. They weren't incredibly high up, but the small cliff overlooking Ponyville had an entrancing view, especially with the sun starting it's slow descent . Applejack noticed that near the edge of the cliff, Twilight was waving to them. She was on a blue blanket, and had a brown basket with her.

Rainbow Dash flew over to the blanket, and tackled Twilight into a hug "Hey Twilight, you'll never guess who I brought to dinner."

Twilight rolled her eyes playfully at Rainbow's actions "Hmm, Princess Luna? Perhaps Discord?"

"Wow, you're terrible at this game." Rainbow laughed as Twilight playfully shoved her.

Applejack watched the exchange as she walked over to the blanket, wanting to join them, but at the same time not wanting to mess with the lovebirds. She felt awkward, and was considering leaving the two when Rainbow Dash called out to her.

Rainbow Dash saw Applejack standing next to the blanket and patted the ground next to her "C'mon AJ, are ya gonna sit or stand there all day?"

"Sit, Ah guess." Applejack chuckled as she sat down next to Rainbow Dash.

"Hey, Applejack." Twilight said, hoping she wasn't mad "I want to say sorry for just leaving you after your confession, I should've talked with you about it."

Applejack shook her head "No, Ah'm the one that should be apologizing. Ah knew ya were dating Dash, and Ah did it anyways." She looked at Twilight and asked hopefully "So...do ya forgive me?"

Twilight nodded "Of course, you wouldn't be here if I didn't!" Twilight and Applejack shared a smile as both ponies felt some of their tension dissipate. "Now, let's eat. It's been a long day."

"You're telling me." Dash grinned as she opened the picnic basket "Now let's see what goodies ya have in here."

Applejack chuckled "Ah swear, ya have a bottomless stomach!"

Twilight smirked "Just yesterday she practically a whole pie by herself!"

Rainbow Dash feigned an expression of anger "You calling me fat?" Her voice dripping with venom

Twilight quickly tried to fix the damage "Oh, not at all! Your figure is great, your really skinny!"

Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes at the nervous looking Twilight, before falling on her back and bursting in to laughter "Y-you, you should have seen the look on your face!"

Twilight groaned "Hey, that wasn't nice!"

Applejack chuckled at the couple "Alright, how about Twi and I can eat while ya keep laughing." This immediately caused Rainbow Dash to clam up, food was serious business.

She bowed to Twilight "Princess Twilight, Lady Applejack, I humbly apologize. Can I get food now?"

Twilight sighed, shaking her head "What am I going to do with you?"

"Oh, you know you love me." She rummaged through the basket and brought out a few plates "Alright, let's eat!"

The date was going quite well. They all had shared some delicious salad and sandwiches, with some chocolate cupcakes for desert. While they had been eating, they well relatively quiet, save for a comment or two. And after they were done eating, it was mainly Rainbow Dash and Twilight joking and talking, with Applejack joining conversations every now and again. But after about thirty minutes, Applejack started to feel more comfortable, and they all felt like it was just another gathering of friends,

The sun was setting, and the moon was beginning to rise as Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight were in their own little world. The date wasn't particularly romantic or exciting, but instead it was them talking and having fun together.

"How in Equestria did that happen!?" Twilight asked a laughing Rainbow Dash and Applejack "I know Dash crashes a lot, but through your front door?"

Applejack nodded, managing to say "Yeah, Granny was pretty surprised at that one!" before dissolving back into laughter.

Rainbow Dash grinned "Yeah, not one of my finer moments." She was about to say something else, when the sunset caught her eye "What the hay? The sun was up just a few minutes ago!"

Twilight and Applejack turned around and watched the sun set over the horizon, and the the moon slowly rise. In a few moments, the sky was painted with millions of tiny lights.

"Huh, Ah guess we lost track of time." Applejack said.

"Wow, it's such a clear night." Twilight said, as the sun finally sank over the horizion "You can even see Equueleus."

"What the hay is that?" Rainbow Dash asked confusedly.

Applejack stared at her "Really, Rainbow? It's a constellation!"

"Ohh..." Rainbow Dash said, trailing off "Of course I knew that! It's that one star that looks like a something or the other, right?"

Applejack rolled her eyes "Ah used to look at the stars with my pa all the time, but Ah could only make out a few." She pointed up into the cluster of stars, and looked over at Rainbow Dash; who was laying next to her.

"Equuleus is a group of stars that look like a pony." She pointed into the sky, tracing the shape with her hoof "My pa always had to point it out at first, and if you look for a bit it's easy to see."

Rainbow Dash squinted her eyes "I do see something that looks like it could be a pony." She tilted her head "Or maybe a milkshake."

Twilight was on the other side of Rainbow Dash and nodded "Well, it might not look exactly like a pony, but it's close enough." She turned her head towards Applejack "I didn't know you like astronomy."

Applejack shrugged "Well, Ah don't really. It's just something I do from time to time, looking at these remind me of when Ah was a filly."

The clearing was silent as Rainbow, Applejack, and Twilight laid on the blanket and looked at the canvas of stars above them. Neither pony wanted to get up and leave, and even the usually fidgety Rainbow Dash was content to just lay down on the blanket.
A cold breeze swept through the clearing, as if to remind them that it was time to go.

Twilight started to shiver from the gust of cold air, and Rainbow Dash almost instinctively wrapped her left wing around Twilight and brought her closer to herslef. Twilight smiled at her marefriend, and leaned her head against her neck.

Applejack blushed, watching the two. Applejack sighed, knowing that what her two friends had was special, and probably wasn't going to get to share that with them. She was surprised however, as Dash draped her right wing over Applejack's back and pulled her closer.

Applejack blushed as Rainbow Dash smiled at her "Don't worry, I didn't forget you." Applejack said nothing, and at first was stiff and tried to keep herself from leaning on Rainbow Dash. but after a minute or two, she found herslef leaning lightly against her...friend? Were they more know, did she hope they were more than that now? Applejack didn't want to think about it, and instead decided to just enjoy the moment for what it was.

They laid there, reveling in each others warmth, not want to move. But, after a few minutes the frigid wind returned, this time stronger. Rainbow Dash closed her wings again and got off of the blanket "Okay, we should probably head back now before we freeze to death."

"Yeah, I guess all good things must come to an end." Twilight said standing up, and looking at Applejack. It did go really well, and It felt so natural having Applejack there. Surprised, Twilight felt herself already thinking of ideas for her next date with Rainbow Dash, herself...and Applejack.

Rainbow Dash was rolling up the blanket, and throwing it into the basket as they all started to head back towards Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack and Twilight walked next to each other, while Rainbow Dash flew over them, carrying the basket in her mouth. Crickets were beginning to chirp as they exited the clearing, and walked downhill towards the road the led to the Acres.

Nopony talked, each pony too immersed in their own thoughts to make small talk. Twilight felt giddy that everything had exceeded her expectations, and she hoped Rainbow Dash felt the same.

Rainbow Dash was wondering how this had managed to go so smoothly, Dash went from being mad that Applejack kissed her marefriend, to having Applejack become her marefriend. Rainbow Dash blinked in surprise, Do...do I really consider her that already? She glanced down at the beautiful and rugged farmpony. One of her best friends, and competitors, and really an all around awesome pony. I guess I've always recognized these things, but never really though about Applejack in that way.

Applejack's thoughts were more worried than giddy, however. That was really fun, I can't believe that this even happened! Applejack started to blush again, when she thought of Twilight and Rainbow Dash next to her. It was true that she already likeed Twilight, but now she felt herself starting to warm towards Rainbow Dash. But the one thought plaguing her mind was, what if they reject me? She could already hear them let her down easy, and return to their own happy relationship. But...they like me, I mean the date went so well. Part of her still thought that maybe they would prefer her as a friend, and right now she just wanted to share their company and remain hopeful.

All too soon, they arrived at the farmhouse. Rainbow Dash landed next to Twilight and looked at Applejack "Well, that was really fun AJ."

Applejack nodded "Yeah, Ah'm really glad ya two invited me along."

Twilight grinned "Of course," She glanced at Rainbow Dash "And if Dashie agrees, I want to invite you on another date...and all the others after that."

Applejack's eyes widened "Does...does that mean what Ah think it does?" She asked, hoping that she hadn't misinterpreted what Twilight just said.

Twilight grinned and leaned closer to Applejack "If your thinking that it means we're marefriends now, then yes." She then planted a kiss on Applejack's cheek, leaving the both of them blushing.

Rainbow Dash walked next to Applejack, and nudged her "Just wait until she kisses you on the lips, Twi's really good at that." Rainbow Dash then planted her own kiss on Applejack's cheek, lingering for a few moments before backing away.

Applejack was speechless, after a horrible morning everything turned out good. Actually, great, everything turned out great and it looked like it was getting better

Applejack ran forward and grabbed her two new marefriends into a hug and said "Ya girls are the best!" She was absolutely ecstatic, and hadn't felt this much joy in a long time.

Twilight grinned "It might be a bit weird at first, but I'm willing to try. Applejack, I'm so happy you like me."

Rainbow Dash nodded "Yeah, now I have two adorable mares who are entranced by my awesomeness!" They all laughed at this for a few moments before Applejack turned around to head inside, while Twilight and Rainbow Dash trotted back towards the library; eager for the future, and what it might hold.
