A Doctor On Fire
Day 619 in Equestria.
You are Spitfire, one of the leading mares of the Wonderbolts.
And today, you are running for your life.
~~~
Everything started off well enough. You and Soarin were practicing for the upcoming Equestria Games. While your team wasn’t allowed to enter the games, you were given the honor of the opening and closing ceremonies.
But at the tail end of practice, you noticed something out of the ordinary.
Out over the horizon, you saw a strange blue box. Worse, though, was the fact that a strange creature fell out of it! You wasted no time, and sped through the sky as fast as you could. You saw a flash above him, but paid it no mind.
You finally got within reach, and grabbed him by the jacket. Strange, you never saw many creatures wearing clothes...
Air rushed by your face, and you realized that you were still falling. While you had the creature in your grasp, it was too heavy for you to properly set down. With your training kicked in, you motioned yourself into a slow downward spiral, your wings strained to keep in position.
Not too long after, you and the creature crashed to the ground. The two of you landed in the middle of a forest. You winced in pain as one of your wings made a terrible snapping sound. You rolled over to your other side, doing your best to take care of your now-broken wing.
As you looked at your injury, you took notice of the creature. He was tall, almost as tall as a minotaur. He had no hair on his body, though you couldn’t tell for sure.
The creature stood up, and dusted off what appeared to be a brown trenchcoat over a blue suit. It straightened out its tie, then noticed you. It walked over, then bent down and pulled out a weird device that reminded you of a pen.
“Now, now, let’s see what the matter is.”
You looked at him, startled. “W-what are you doing?” You stared at his face, his faux-hawk leaning to the side a little. “How can you speak? What is that thing??”
The lanky creature paused for a second, before it... no, he, spoke.
“Ah, my Tardis is a universal translator. Let’s me speak to anyone in the universe.” He pointed at the pen-thing. “This here, this is my sonic screwdriver. Let’s me do a lot of things, really. And from what I can tell...” He pointed the device at your wing, and the tip glowed blue. “Ahhh, it’s a clean break. With time, it’ll heal up just fine.”
The creature helped set your wing in place. He then ripped one of his sleeves off the trenchcoat, and proceeded to wrap your wing in a sling. You felt a blush form as his fingers tied the makeshift sling together.
“Who are you? What are you?” you ask.
He pauses. “Ah, well, you can just call me the Doctor. As for what I am, you can say that I’m a timelord.” He stood up and smiled. “There! All done! How do you feel?”
Your blush receded. “I feel better now, thanks.” You looked at him. “It’s nice to meet you, Doctor. but what is a ‘timelord’? I’ve never heard of a timelord before.”
“Well, you see,” he began, “a timelord looks very much like a human. There are key differences though. The biggest one is that-”
Before he could finish, a blast of what looked like magic hit a nearby tree. You and the Doctor looked over, and saw that a really strange metal box thing was coming towards you two. As it got closer, it started talking.
“WE HAVE FOUND YOU, DOCTOR. YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS WILL ALL BE EXTERMINATED. EXTERMINATED!”
Before you could react, the Doctor pointed his screwdriver at the box-thing. The glowing light on the boxe’s “head” exploded.
“THIS IS ONLY A SETBACK, DOCTOR. I WILL REPAIR MYSELF, AND THEN YOU SHALL BE EXTERMINATED!!”
The Doctor wasted no more time. He grabbed you by the hoof, and the two of you ran deeper into the forest.
~~~
You and the Doctor run into a small clearing, and take a break. He finds a stump to sit on, while you lay down on the ground, way too tired to care about appearances or cleanlines.
You look at the Doctor. He is a different species, but you feel an.... attraction to him. You don’t know how to explain it, but you do.
As you stare at the Doctor, you fail to notice the shadow looming over you. In a flash, you are pinned the ground as that metal thing stands on top of you.
“THE DALEKS WILL HAVE OUR REVENGE, DOCTOR. YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!”
You feel pressure from the dalek standing on you, then a pop in your wing. You scream out in pain. The Doctor looks at you, then at the Dalek. Anger written on his face.
“Dalek! You leave this pony alone! She has nothing to do with this.”
The Dalek stays still.
“THAT DOES NOT MATTER. SHE WILL BE EXTERMINATED, JUST LIKE YOU WILL BE.”
The Dalek blasts away the screwdriver from the Doctor’s hand. Getting off of you, the Dalek moves toward the Doctor.
“GOODBYE, DOCTOR.”
With a loud pew, the Dalek hits the Doctor square in the chest. The doctor, in turn, collapses to the ground.
You feel shock at what just happened. One minute, you were being crushed by the Dalek. The next, the Doctor was a heap on the floor. For a moment, you didn’t know what to do.
Then you started to feel anger. With rage building in your heart, you gallop to the Dalek. At the last moment, you spin around, and give the tin can the mightiest buck you could muster.
Your buck leaves a giant dent in the side of the Dalek.
“WHA-A-A-A-ATT-ZZZZZZ DO YOU-U-U THINK YOU AZZZZZ ZZZ”
Before long, the Dalek started making a whistling noise. You see sparks shooting out from within. As you watch, the Dalek tries to say one more thing, before exploding in a fantastic display of fire and sparks.
The force of the explosion knocks you back a few feet. Getting up, you see that all that’s left of the Dalek was the bottom portion. There was no way it survived.
Behind the heap, you spot the Doctor. He was on the ground, laying on his back. You rush over to him, and grab his hand with your hooves.
“Are...” you start, a sob escaping your lips, “are you going to die?”
The Doctor looks at you, then smiles. “Yeah... well, no, not really. Well, you’ll have to wait and see.” He waves you away. “Please step back. You don’t want to be too close before the show begins...”
You hesitate for a second, before taking a few steps away. You see him smile at you, then... he starts to glow?
A weird glow envelops his skin. It reminds you a little of Princess Celestia, for some strange reason. The glowing becomes stronger and stronger. Then, suddenly, the glowing light shoots out from his skin.
You are blinded by the sight. Moments pass, and it doesn’t get any weaker. You try to see what is happening, but all you can make out is a shape that’s moving around.
Finally, after what seems like forever, the light subsides. You blink, and slowly regain your vision. When you can fully see, you look at the Doctor. You gasp, as he is not ‘human’ anymore.
In his place is a light brown unicorn. His mane is black, and eerily has a similar looking faux hawk. On his flank, his cutie mark appears to be this weird symbol consisting of circles and other odd shapes.
The Doctor gets up, not quite used to his new limbs yet. He looks at himself, then at you.
“Well, this is certainly a new development.”
