The girls of the Mane Six (not including Twilight) try to figure out why they aren't princesses.
After Twilight Sparkle's princess coronation the girls (except Twilight) got to continue on with their normal lives. But during a spa day with Rarity and Fluttershy, Rarity overheard some spa ponies talking about Twilight's coronation. Then Rarity brings up a point to Fluttershy... Why aren't THEY princesses?
One bright and sunny day... Well not just any ordinary day. It was one of Fluttershy and Rarity's spa days. When Rarity brought up a very valid point when she over heard some of the spa ponies talking about Twilight's coronation.
"Fluttershy, darling," Rarity started, "Have you ever asked yourself, 'why is Twilight the only one who is a princess?'"
Fluttershy replied, "Uh, no, well not exactly. I mean I am proud of her."
"No Fluttershy. I mean have you ever thought why aren't any of us princesses with Twilight. Think about it... If it wasn't for our friendship she wouldn't even be a princess."
"Oh well, I guess."
"Oh, dear... I am terribly sorry Fluttershy I am late for lunch with AJ."
"Oh, well that's okay. Go right on ahead. I understand."
"Thank you for understanding. Well, I must be going."
The News to AJ
"Hello Applejack, I am terribly sorry for being late," Rarity greeted Applejack at Sweet Apple Acres.
"Well howdy Rarity," Applejack replied, "Nah it's alright you're late. I was actually finishing up some apple bucking."
"Well I overheard the spa ponies talking and they brought up a very valid point," Rarity started. Applejack started to say something, but then had to finish chewing and swallow her apple pie.
"What's that?"
"They were talking about Twilight's coronation. Then I thought of something. Why aren't we princesses? After all we were the ones that showed her true friendship. And without our friendship she wouldn't have become a princess."
"I understand your point of view, but..." There was a few moments of silence until Rarity said, "But, what?"
"Well... Okay I ain't understanding it either. But I don't want to be rude either... But I do think I would make a nice princess of... Apple Orchards."
"Really AJ? I was thinking more on the side of, our elements of harmony. So you would be honesty and me generosity."
"Well that may be better."
"Oh I am really, really busy today and have to fit Pinkie for a new party dress. I do hope you understand."
"Alright, but we do need to have lunch again when you're not to busy. But I also have to help Rainbow Dash prepare for Wonderbolt try-outs."
"Sorry again. Good bye."
"Bye!"
The Idea to Pinkie
"Hello Pinkie," Rarity greeted.
"Hey Rarity, I'm ready to be fitted for my new party outfit," Pinkie stated cheerfully.
"I am right on time, I presume."
"Yes! You are!"
"Well then let's get started. Hop up on the pedestal." Then Pinkie hopped up and Rarity started to measure. Then after a while it was burning up in Rarity's mind.
"Pinkie?"
"Yes, Rarity," Pinkie answered.
"Have you ever wondered why only Twilight is a princess, out of all six of us?"
"Yes."
"Well I... Wait, did you just say yes?"
"Yes."
"Well, why do you think that only Twilight is a princess?"
"Because she is Princess Celestia's student. But we did help her become a princess, so we should get rewarded to. I mean I could totally be a princess of parties or laughter."
Rarity stood there mesmerized, "Pinkie, sometimes I think you read my mind..."
"Because I do...(Ohhhhhh)."
"Really?"
"No it's just my Pinkie senses."
"Makes sense... (mmmm) And all done!"
"Thanks. When do you think it will be done?"
"Okey-dokey."
"Bye Pinkie."
"Bye."
Meanwhile with Rainbow Dash
"Hey Dashy," Applejack said.
"'Sup AJ," Rainbow Dash replied.
"Are you ready to practice?"
"As ready as I can ever be." And the training began. First the were doing a race, AJ on the ground and Rainbow in the air. They started the timer, and they were off! They did three 350 yard laps in twenty minutes. Of coarse Rainbow won. But AJ couldn't stop thinking about what Rarity had asked her.
"Hey Rainbow?" AJ finally asked.
"Yeah AJ," Rainbow replied.
"Rarity asked me a question that has been causin' a storm in my brain."
"Go ahead and ask away."
"She asked me if I ever wondered why only Twilight is a princess out of us six. Have you ever wondered that?"
"Actually, yes. I have always wondered what it would be like if I was the princess of speed or maybe even pegasi," confessed Rainbow Dash.
"Well she was thinking somewhere along the lines of our elements of harmony, so you would be loyalty. Well since Twilight is the princess of magic and all," explained AJ.
"Makes sense."
"Oh, well I have to get going. Gotta help Applebloom clean her room," explained AJ.
"Hey y'all," Applejack said to start off conversation between the mares.
"Hello dear Applejack," Rarity replied. She had already been at the table at Sugar Cube Corner.
"Hey EVERYBODY!" Pinkie yelled cheerfully as she hopped down the stairs from her bedroom.
"'Sup gals," Rainbow Dash exclaimed while flying in the door.
"Oh am I late?" Fluttershy asked, as she discovered all the other mares sitting down at the table in the corner. That was their usual table.
"No darling, come right in," Rarity said answering her question.
"Y'all know what your having," Applejack asked everpony.
"Yes," they all said anonymously.
"All the usuals?" she asked. Again the same reply. "Alright then y'all talk between yourselves while I go order," she explained. Then she calmly walked away to go order. That was when Rarity couldn't take it anymore.
"Oh, it's just not fair!" Rarity complained.
"What's not fair?" Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash asked at the same time.
"She wants to be a princess because Twilight is one and we helped her get there so we should be the princesses of our elements of harmony," Pinkie explained in a fast paced voice. The mare looked at her in surprise. "What? She told me," Pinkie explained in a more calm voice than before.
"Yes girls that about sums it up," Rarity confessed.
"Here y'all go," Applejack said as she handed out the treats. "What's wrong with y'all? You look like you see a killer pony behind me," Applejack asked. Pinkie explained what happened while she was gone in the same tone as when she explained the princess thing to Fluttershy and Rainbow. "Wow. Okay y'all we need to talk about this, I can tell it is all burning in our minds. And to be honest even I am thinking about it," Applejack explained.
"You are right AJ we do need to talk," Rarity agreed.
"Alright then, let's talk," Rainbow Dash agreed.
"But what about all the ponies who can overhear us?" Fluttershy pointed out.
Once they arrived at the cottage Fluttershy turned on the lights and put her animals to bed, so they wouldn't disturb the other mares. Once they all got settled in the deep discussion began.
"Alright y'all let's begin with Fluttershy," AJ suggested.
"Yes Fluttershy go right ahead," Rarity said pushing her on.
"Oh, uh, well I actually don't mind much. I am proud of her," Fluttershy explained.
"There must be more!" Rainbow explained.
"Yeah!" Pinkie agreed.
"Well, there is... But I don't want to hurt Twilight's feelings," Fluttershy explained to the mares.
"She is the ONLY one of us who got turned into a princess," exclaimed Pinkie.
"Come now Fluttershy, she will never hear of this. You would make an excellent princess of kindness," Rarity claimed.
"I know but..." Fluttershy went on.
"But what? Twilight got the honor of bein' a princess why can't her friends that helped her?" Applejack explained. Fluttershy felt a little pressured by her friends and didn't know what to do, but she very well knew her true opinion about it. She would like to be a princess and help protect Equestria with all of her heart. After all this was a place FULL of animals she could protect.
"Okay I guess I could make a good princess of kindness. But I don't want to steal Twilight's attention. After all we are suppose to listen to her, and look up to her," Fluttershy explained.
"Well I know I would LOVE to be the princess of loyalty! Except I wouldn't really want to become an alicorn," explained Rainbow Dashy.
"I wouldn't mind being the princess of honesty. But I am fine, good ol' me. Although a horn would make apple bucking a whole lot easier," Applejack said.
"I could totally see myself as an alicorn, and the princess of laughter," Pinkie imagined herself as an alicorn.
"Well I could deal with the work and the glam of being a princess. I mean who wouldn't want to be the princess of generosity," Rarity finally said.
"Then it's agreed. We will all see the princess about this soon," AJ decided.
"Which princess?" Pinkie asked.
"The one who made her a princess," Applejack explained.
"Princess Celestia?" Pinkie asked. Just to make sure.
"Yes. We will see when she is open for lunch," Applejack said.
Rarity said, "Tomorrow we will check. Tonight girls get some rest."
"Alright, good night everypony," Fluttershy said as they left.
"Now girls, we need to convince Fluttershy that she can really be a good princess. Kindness is a very important characteristic of a princess. She could be very important to the royalty," Rarity explained.
"I do understand where you are going with it, but how do you plan on convincing her?" Rainbow asked.
"It will be easy just trust me and go along with it," Rarity explained.
"Okay what ever you say Rarity," Applejack trusted her and hoped this was going to be good.
"Good night girls," Rarity said as a good bye.
"Good night," all the other mares replied. All the mares slept soundly that night. They all woke up and did their daily things. But Rarity had changed her plans, she had stayed at the Boutique all morning writing all of her ideas. Then she came up with the perfect idea. She wrote down the plan on some blueprints then called the girls there. Except not Fluttershy, of coarse.
"You all know why I gathered you here, so let's get straight to business," Rarity said. "Now I was thinking, all I need to do is get her in here and talk to her. If we all want to be princesses then ALL of us have to be princesses. Not just some of us. And we need good reasons to convince the princess why we should be princesses as well as Twilight. So I will tell her I have a big surprise for her and to come to the Boutique at two-thirty. Meaning we have thirty minutes to prepare. AJ and Rainbow, since she will most likely run out the back, I need you to guard the back door and all the windows. Pinkie and I will convince her in here. But AJ once she enters I need you to guard the front door. And we need to make sure she doesn't bring anything with her."
"Yes ma'am!" the mares all replied. This was a brilliant plan and it was going to work. Rarity asked Pinkie to go let Fluttershy know that Rarity had something for her at exactly two-thirty, no earlier, no later. The plan was about to be in go everypony had been in their positions chatting about the plan. Not expecting Fluttershy for another five minutes. But when Fluttershy heard what was going on she decided to play along. When Fluttershy knocked on the door at exactly two-thirty Rarity let her in. Fluttershy started pacing back and forth, pretending to wait for something big. But when Pinkie Pie came up behind her to tie her to a chair Fluttershy fought back for the first time in her life. She flew up in the air smacking the rope out of Pinkie's hoove. She flew up in the air knowing that Rarity and Pinkie both couldn't fly. But suddenly Rarity called Rainbow Dash in to pull her down to the chair. But as Rainbow came towards her Fluttershy flew away, the chase was on. Fluttershy got Rainbow Dash dizzy by flying in circles then flew out the door towards her cottage crying. For two reasons, she fought her friends and her friends were trying to capture her to convince her to do something. She knew what it was and why they wanted her to want but they could've just talked calmly. Fluttershy knew one thing, she did want to become a princess like the rest but she didn't want to hurt Twilight's feelings.
"We may have lost this round girls but we WILL convince her to want o be a princess!" Rarity explained. Her first plan was a failure...She will NOT let it happen again! So Rarity decided to have Spike write a letter to the princess wondering when she can have lunch. Wherever she wanted. When the princess replied she was available for lunch in five days. That meant Rarity had five days to convince Fluttershy she wanted to be a princess. But Fluttershy would be on her toes always prepared. But Rarity wouldn't attack her anymore with plans, but she would have conversations instead.
The next few days it was hard to get Fluttershy to stay put long enough to have a conversation. On the first day Rarity ran into Fluttershy at the market and tried to have a conversation but Fluttershy ran away. The second day was better Fluttershy was at Sugar Cube Corner when Rarity came in and said hi to Fluttershy. Fluttershy just said bye and ran. The third and fourth day Rarity stayed in the Boutique because she didn't have anything to do. Except prepare for the lunch with the princess. But on the fifth day the day of the lunch Fluttershy knocked on Rarity's door in the morning, she apologized for all the running away.
"I heard about the lunch with the princess today, and I thought, if you girls don't mind, I could come," Fluttershy said.
"Of coarse! We have wanted you to come and help us talk to the princess... But you have been running off so we couldn't talk," Rarity explained.
"Oh, well I felt bad for flying out without apologizing. But you have to get ready for the lunch, I'll just leave you alone," Fluttershy said.
After all the girls were prepared to leave for the lunch, they were off. They had taken the train from Ponyville to Canterlot. After they got off the train they walked to the castle, being that it wasn't to far. Once they were let in by the guards they joined Princess Celestia in the dining room.
"I'm glad to have all of you here today. Now about that topic you wanted to discuss with me," Princess Celestia started.
"Yes, your highness, we have come to believe that it is not fair that Twilight Sparkle is the only one who became a princess. Not to be rude but we ALL helped Twilight become a princess," Rarity explained to the princess in a calm, relaxed tone.
"I do understand your point of view but..." She paused. "I trust Twilight more, because she is my student and I have taught her everything she knows. Except the things she learned from you, girls you helped Twilight become a princess. Yes, but I don't believe you know the pressure and responsibilities of being a princess. I know from watching Twilight she has all the traits a princess needs," explained Princess Celestia.
"I don't mean to be rude or childish your highness but..." Rarity was full of rage from listening to what the princess had been saying. "IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!!!!!" Rarity bursted from the rage built up inside.
"Again I am not saying you girls haven't helped Twilight but I don't know what would happen if you were princesses," Princess Celestia explained in a little more frustrated voice. Then there was a awkward silence that followed that. It lasted about ten minutes before Rarity started to talk again.
"I apologize for the way I was your highness but I don't see exactly how you can't trust us. You trusted us to help Twilight save the Crystal Empire, and defeat Discord and...." these were the last words before Princess Celestia cut in.
"Rarity I understand your frustration but I trust Twilight more, I have worked with her since she was a filly.... I have seen you girls around but not the special attention I payed to Twilight," Princess Celestia tried to put her point across easily without any problems.
"With all do respect your highness," Applejack started to talk in the conversation. "I think we at least deserve some kind of reward, because we helped make the newest princess."
"Yeah," all the other mares chimed in.
"And we want Twilight to be able to come down for PARTIES!!!" Pinkie explained. That was when the girls kept on giving demands for what they wanted.
"Okay girls listen up! I will give each of you one thing you want, so choose wisely," Princess Celestia finally decided. So all of the girls thought of something.
"I would like to have a room in the castle where I am ALWAYS welcome to party," explained Pinkie Pie.
"Done," Celestia replied.
"And I would like to have some helpers around the farm to do some applebucking," explained AJ.
"Done," Celestia called in the best applebuckers in Equestria.
"I would like to be officially part of the wonderbolts," Rainbow said.
"Spitefire!" called Celestia.
"Yes ma'am!" Spitefire replied.
"This is your newest memeber," Celestia said.
"Yes ma'am! Come on squirt we've got training to do," Spitefire explained.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Rainbow replied as she left.
"I would like a field for my animals to roam, please," Fluttershy whispered.
"Done," Celestia replied. "Rarity, what would you like?"
"I have feeling I am asking to much... After my tantrum and all," Rarity explained.
"No, just ask. But remember only one thing," Celestia explained.
"I would like a boutique in Canterlot... Except only as a business I still want to live in Ponyville with my friends," Rarity explained.
"Then it is done," Celestia said. And that was it, the girls went home with all the things they asked for. And they continued their daily lives.... Not being jealous of each other anymore.
As the mares presumed their normal everyday lives nothing out of the ordinary happened but on another of Fluttershy and Rarity's spa days.
"Rarity?" Fluttershy asked.
"Yes," Rarity replied.
"When do you think Twilight is coming down for her party? Pinkie has been planning it for weeks now," Fluttershy asked.
"Oh, I don't know whenever she has time to come down from Canterlot. Princesses are very busy you know," Rarity said.
"Oh, I know but Pinkie's hair is going a little straighter than usual," Fluttershy explained.
"Oh well, we should probably go to Canterlot and consult her about this. If Pinkie gets to straight hair well we have to fix her quick," Rarity realized.
"Who is speaking about the great Princess Twilight?" someone with a familiar voice asked.
"Oh, we weren't saying anything bad, but we WERE talking about the princess," Rarity explained.
"Calm down girls. It's just me, Twilight," said the newest princess.
"Twilight!" both the mares exclaimed.
"Hey girls. I heard what happened at the lunch with Celestia," Twilight explained. Both of the girls laughed nervously.
"Twilight, we would've told you but we didn't want to hurt your feelings," Fluttershy explained.
"I understand what you girls were thinking but to throw a tantrum to the princess... Oh well it's all over now and we can't do anything about it. So let's go to that party that Pinkie has been planning for so long," Twilight explained. So all the girls finally met up at the party and had a GREAT time. Of course everypony was there, EVERYPONY. For when the princess goes somewhere everypony goes. So the party was great. All of Twilight's old friends were there. Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie, AJ, and Rainbow all felt bad for what they had done, do they all sat at their usual table at Sugarcube Corner because that was where the party was. They couldn't just not go to the party that they planned for her. So they just layed low. At the end of the party when everypony left Princess Twilight went to talk to her friends.
"Girls," Twilight started. Then there was a pause. "We all know what you did was highly inappropriate, but if you would've just told me you wouldn't have to scream at Princess Celestia."
"We would've told you but we didn't want to hurt your feelings," Fluttershy tried to explain again.
"And to be honest, we thought you wouldn't get word of it," AJ explained.
"We just didn't understand why only you were a princess," Rainbow Dash stated.
"We're sorry," all the mares said in unison.
"It is all over girls we can't fix it. But what we can do is if you are jealous again, just tell me," Twilight explained. "And I forgive you."
"Thanks a million Twilight," Pinkie replied. Then they all did a big group hug and Twilight returned to Canterlot. The girls remained on with their daily lives. And Twilight came down for parties at least once a month.
