Rarity sails the titanic, but we all know how it ends. Don't we?

When Rarity gets tickets to the Titanic to sail with her mother, all is fine. Except the fact her mother is forcing the fashonista to marry Filthy Rich due to his money, her debt, and the fact that Rarity's bits wouldn't support her mother. But when Rarity meets a young, handsome stallion, maybe things wouldn't be so bad after all.

Letting Go

“Ooh Sweetie Belle you’ll be alright. I promise to visit you anytime I can!” Rarity tried to cheer up her younger sister, Sweetiebelle. The white unicorn filly looked up at Rarity with teary, emerald eyes.

“Promise you’ll come back to Ponyville?” Sweetie Belle asked, her voice wavering as more tears threatened to escape.

“I promise. Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye” Rarity did the motions of the Pinkie Pie promise as a small smile fell across Sweetie Belles’ face.

“Alright. I love you, big sis” Sweetie Belle said crawling into her sisters lap for a hug. Rarity returned it, inviting the filly into her hooves.

The purple maned unicorn let out a sigh. She hadn’t expected Sweetiebelle to take her departure this hard, but this was her choice. Her life. Ever since she received a letter from her mother, it had been the best and most disappointing moment of her life. In the letter, her mother had explained that she received two first-class tickets to ride the Titanic. Rarity, at this, was overjoyed. But with only two tickets, that meant somepony had to stay behind. Sweetie Belle volunteered to stay back, and with Rarity gone sailing, she would have to take over and watch her sisters boutique.

“Will you tell mom I said hi while you’re on the titanic too?” Sweetie Belle asked. Rarity nodded.

“I will” Rarity said.

“Where is the ship taking you, anyway?” Sweetie Belle asked.

“The Titanic is taking us ponies across the Pacific ocean, to the city Trottingham. Right next to Manehatten” Rarity replied, stroking her sisters purple and white mane.

“I see … Well, you better continue to pack your stuff … The Titanic sails tomorrow, and you don’t want to be late” Sweetie Belle said, drawing back from Rarity’s lap.

“Oh .. That’s right .. Well, hehe, I better get back to it!” The fashonista smiled, getting to her hooves, and proceeded to her room.

--

Packing took hours. For Rarity, at least. For four hours, she was gathering her dress making supplies, her dresses, clothes, materials, and everything else important to the unicorn. And with a final pull of a zipper on her luggage, she collapsed.

‘Packing can sure be hard!’ The white unicorn thought to herself as she examined her gatherings. She had everything, and now, her room was almost empty with the exception of her bed.

“Well, a lady has to get some beauty rest if she’s going to be on Equestria’s largest ship tomorrow! I’ll just wish Sweetie Belle to bed, then I’ll get to bed myself, as well” Rarity said aloud. Butterflies flew in her stomach as she trotted down the stairs of her boutique. She grew more nervous as time ticked by, but she didn’t care. She was excited, too.

“Sweetie Belle? Sweetie Belle darling are you down here?” Rarity called as she reached her main floor. She found Sweetie Belle on the couch, sleeping softly with a piece of paper, folded neatly in half.

‘Oh .. If she is sleeping, I shouldn’t wake her up’ Rarity said inside her head silently as she made her way to the couch. She leaned over to her younger sister, kissed her gently on the cheek before drawing back.

“Goodnight, Sweetie Belle” Rarity whispered. With that, she turned back and walked up the stairs, turned the hallway to her room, and closed the door behind her.

She fell over onto her bed, snuggled into the covers, shut her eyes, and fell into a peaceful, silent and dreamless sleep.

“Rarity! Rarity wake up!” The first-class pony felt herself being shaken, with two small hooves on her back.

“Goodness! What’s the matter, Sweetie Belle!?” Rarity cried, opening her sapphire eyes to look at her sister.

“It’s nine already! I don’t want you to be late, and you have visitors” Sweetie Belle explained, releasing her grip off the older mare.

“It’s already nine!? Oh my! And visitors!? This early!? What could ponies possibly want at this hour? It’s nine in the morning for Celestia’s sake!”

Sweetie Belle shrugged.

“It’s the girls, if that changes your opinion” Sweetie Belle added.

“The girls? Ooh I must see them right away!” Rarity jumped off her bed. With the magic of her horn, she levitated a brush next to a dresser that she was leaving behind in her room. With the brush, she brushed at her mane valiantly.

“Coming!” Rarity called, racing down the stairs.

Rarity halted in front of her front door, and opened it with a hoof.

“Hi girls! How nice of yo- OOOF!” The dress maker fell to the ground, as a pink blob tackled her.

“Oh Rarity we’ll miss you SOOO SOO much!” The familiar, squeaky voice of Pinkie Pie rang in her ears.

“Aww I’ll miss you guys too!” The unicorn brushed Pinkie off gently with a fore hoof, and got to her hooves.

Rarity looked up to see the faces of her best friends, standing over her.

“Ah just can’t com’ to beliven’ that ya won’t be with us anymore, sugarcube” The farm pony, Applejack trotted up to her white friend and put a hoof over Raritys shoulder.

“Yeah. We’re all gonna miss you, Rares!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, flying above the crowd of five to get a better look of the unicorn. The rainbow maned Pegasus smiled sadly. Fluttershy, the other Pegasus flew up to join Rainbow in the sky. With her quiet voice, she piped up.

“Oh yes indeed. And it’s too bad we won’t be able to go to the spa together anymore, but this is your life. I don’t want to stop you” Fluttershy said, with her usual quietness creeping into her voice.

“I know it’s heartbreaking girls, but this is Raritys choice. I know we’ll all miss her, but she’s still here in our hearts and mind. Isn’t she?” Twilight spoke up, exchanging glances with everypony with a smile on her face.

The six ponies smiled back at Twilight.

“Well, I will for sure miss all of you, but I must start heading to the ship now ..” Rarity broke the silence that held within the six.

“We’ll head to the dock with you!” Twilight Sparkle announced, followed by cheers of agreement from behind.

“Oh that would be delightful!” Rarity put on her best smile, as she rushed upstairs to grab her luggage’s. As she picked up three bags with her levitation magic, she trotted down the stairs.

“Umm need help with that?”

Rarity looked over to see Spike, Twilights assistant and baby dragon offer a claw.

“That would be very nice of you” Rarity said happily, putting one of her bags down for the young dragon to carry.

“And Rarity?” Sweetie Belle called from behind.

“Yes?” Rarity looked over her shoulder to see her sister approaching her.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to meet with you at the dock … I’m helping Cheerilee at the Food Bank. Here, take this” Sweetie Belle handed over the same paper she fell asleep with last night.

“Thank you darling” Rarity said gratefully, pulling Sweetie Belle into the most affection-filled hug she’s given.

“I’ll miss you” Sweetie Belle said, kissing Rarity on the cheek.

“I’ll miss you too” Rarity said, drawing back.

“Now … I must go, I’ll miss my voyage”

“Okay. Bye! I love you!” Sweetie Belle waved her hoof as Rarity exited the boutique.

“Love you too! See you soon!” Rarity waved as the door shut behind her, separating the two sisters.

She turned around to face her friends.

“Are you ready?” Twilight asked.

“Indeed I am!” Rarity smiled.

“Are we just gonna take a carriage or what?” Rainbow Dash called from above.

“Yes, of course Rainbow dear” Rarity answered. Because the Titanic is the largest, and an unsinkable ship, stallions from all over have volunteered their time to carry ponies in carriages to the ship.

“In fact, I can see him coming” Rarity added, as she saw two stallions trotting into view. She recognized a blue stallion as Noteworthy, a kind pony she met at the Gala, but the other orange one was somepony she didn’t recognize. The two halted to a stop in the front of her boutique.

“Six ponies and a dragon?! We can’t carry that much!” The orange stallion called from the pathway.

“You’re not taking me in that carriage! I can fly there! In 10 seconds FLAT!” Rainbow cried from above, flipping through the air.

“Oh and if it’s too much, I can just fly with Rainbow too. I don’t want to put too much weight on the carriage” Fluttershy spoke out softly.

“And Ah’ can help ye stallions too!” Applejack called out, dashing to the empty spot in the middle and wrapping the harness around her body. Noteworthy and the other stallion stared at the apple-bucking pony in surprise.

“What? Do ya think that some mares can’t do what ya’ll can do?” Applejack asked in annoyance, noticing the twos stare.

They shrugged, and continued to stare ahead of them. Twilight and Rarity exchanged glances before hopping into the carriage, followed by Pinkie Pie.

“Where’s Spike?” Twilight asked.

“Over here, Twily!” The three mares looked over to see Spike sitting in the drivers seat with three reins in grip in one claw. In the other, he waved to the three.

Twilight laughed.

“Alright, here we go! But wait .. We’re heading to Appleoosa, right?”

Noteworthy nodded.

“Then off we go!” Spike announced, as the carriage started moving upon the ground.

“Well, this is going to be sad, seeing you leave” Twilight said, looking at Rarity.

“Oh yes it’s SO sad! I even cried last night at the thought of you leaving! You mean soo much to me, and my alligator pet Gummy!” Pinkie added.

“I’ll miss you all dearly too” Rarity said sadly.

Changing the subject, Rarity turned to Twilight.

“Hey Twilight?” Rarity looked over to the violet-hued mare.

“Yes?”

“How long is the drive to Appleoosa?” Rarity asked.

“Three hours the least” Twilight responded.

“Oh no! Is Fluttershy going to be able to last that long?” Rarity gasped.

“Oh, we’re traveling pretty slowly, and if so, Rainbow will lend her a hoof” Twilight informed.

“Good I’m glad” Rarity let out a sigh of relief.

“Well I hope to not be rude, but I might have to take a beauty nap. I barely got sleep last night” Rarity smiled tiredly.

“Oh. For sure go ahead if you must” Twilight said.

“Yea! Oh! I know! We can have a sleeping game!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

“Why not?” Twilight asked.

“The pony to sleep in the longest WIIINS!” Pinkie jumped out of her seat at the moment.

“Sounds good to me” Rarity said.

“Okay. Three, two, one, GO!” With that, Pinkie Pie fell over, sound asleep.

Rarity giggled to herself as she dozed off, too.

Sailing and Goodbyes

“RARITY RARITY WAKE UP WAKE UP!” Pinkie screamed into the white mares ear as she jumped up.

“What is it!?” Rarity asked.

“WE’RE HEEERE!” Pinkie screamed once again.

Rarity opened the door of the carriage, and exited with Pinkie and Twilight exiting shortly behind her.

“Oh my Celestia!” Raritys mouth gaped in astonishment. The Titanic surely was the largest ship Rarity has ever seen, and it surely looks like it can be the largest in Equestria. Pegasi swarmed the air around the ship, and the ship took up most of Raritys gaze, which captivated her most efficiently.
“Oh. My. GOSH! That IS THE MOST BIGGEST, HUGEST, GINORMOUS SHIP EVER!” Pinkie Pie screamed, with her jaw dropping to the ground.

Twilight hopped out of the carriage shortly after Pinkie.

“Holy cow!” Twilight examined the ship thoroughly.

“And I’m gonna be on that” Rarity stated, barely concentrating on levitating her bags out of the carriage.

“And here’s your third luggage, Miss Rarity” Spike announced, sitting the third bag at the astounded ponies hooves.

Spike looked up.

The young dragons mouth dropped to the floor.

“And that’s one bigg … ship” Spike fell to the ground, unconscious.

“I .. I think he’s intimidated by the height of this thing” Twilight said, rubbing the back of her head with a hoof. Pinkie Pie and Rarity nodded their agreement.

“FILLIES AND GENTLECOLTS! I AM NOW PROUDLY GOING TO CALL FOR ANY MARES OR COLTS WITH A FIRST CLASS TICKET! PLEASE COME TO THE DOCK IMMIDEIDTLY!” A powerful, rich voice rang out in the clearing.

“Oooh that’s me!” Rarity called giddily. The unicorn turned around to her three friends behind her. Applejack soon joined in the crowed, followed by Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.

“I’m going to miss you girls dearly” Rarity said, looking back at the five.

“We all are going to miss you, too Rarity” They said at the same time.

“ALL FIRST CLASS TICKETS! PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE BOARDING DOCK!” The voice rang out again.

“Well, this is it” Rarity sighed.

“WAAAAAAAAAH!” The pink mare cried out as Rarity took steps towards the large ship ahead.

Rarity turned back to look at her friends, but the crowds of ponies already started pushing her away from her sad friend. Rarity felt like crying herself. The six went through everything together, stopping Nightmare Moon, returning harmony to Equestria, stopping Discord from chaos, and even helped Shining Armor and Princess Cadences wedding from Queen Chrysalis and her changeling army. With her being the element of generosity, Dash as the element of loyalty, Fluttershy as kindness, Pinkie as laughter, Applejack as honesty, and Twilight as the element of the magic of friendship, they were all naturally drawn together with a strong, everlasting bond.

“Pinkie!? Pinkie Pie!?” Rarity called from the swarming crowd around her.

“LAST CALL FOR THE FIRST CLASS PASSENGERS!” Raritys ears perked up at this. She gathered her bags, and dashed along the paved road avoiding ponies along the way.

’Must … Get there … NOOW!’ Was the only thought on her mind in that moment.

She raced up the wooden ramp leading into the ship.

“May I see your ticket, Ma’am?” A stallion dressed in a formal uniform with a matching hat looked at her, through his yellow eyes.

“My ticket? Oh .. yes yes of course” Rarity reached into one of her luggages in hopes of finding the golden ticket- her way into the ship.

Her hoof fell upon something paper-like. Her eyes instantly lit up

’Aha!’ Rarity drew it out.

“Here it is” Rarity handed over the golden ticket.

“I see … You may now board the Titanic! Please meet in the main hall, just down there. Your room is Upper Floor 1, room 3” The Ticketmaster said proudly, as he pointed a hoof down a long, pleasant looking hallway.

“Thank you” Rarity smiled, and trotted through the hallway before her.

’Ooh boy, this is sure fancier than I expected’ Rarity thought to herself, examining her surroundings again. On the ceilings, a golden boarder lined them up in a unique design. The floor was made of a red carpet, with yellow strips through it that seemed to resemble Celestia, the sun Goddess.
Rarity stopped in a room. Ponies of all kinds were gathered in the room, and in the corner, Raritys sapphire eyes fell upon her mother.

--

“Mom!?” Rarity called.

“Rarity darling! I haven’t seen you in SOOO long!” Raritys mother dashed over to her, and embraced her in a hug.

“It sure has been awhile” Rarity responded, not really sure how else to.

“How’s Sweetie Belle? Do you have a Coltfriend? A husband? I hope not” Her mother nagged at the unicorn relentlessly.

“I .. Um .. Am still single .. Why?” Rarity asked, laughing a slight in shock of her mothers outburst.

“Well I found the perfect husband for you! You’re going to love him!” Ribbon Wishes, Raritys mother exclaimed. At the same time, a brown stallion trotted over.

“Hello, lovely” He said, taking her white hoof in his brown one and kissed it gently, without breaking eye contact with Rarity.

“Um, hi” Rarity smiled politely.

“My name is Filthy Rich. May I ask for yours, sweet heart?” Filthy Rich asked, putting her hoof back onto the soft carpet under-hoof.

“My name is Rarity. I’m quite pleased to meet you” Rarity said, closing her eyes and smiling.

“Miss Rarity .. What a fine, fine name you have there” Filthy Rich said happily.

“Isn’t he just adorable? He’s perfect!” Ribbon Wishes mouthed to Rarity, who rolled her eyes in annoyance. Sure, Filthy Rich made a good first impression, but that doesn’t mean she wants to marry some colt she met on the ship because her mother told her to.

“Well, if you excuse me, I’m heading off to the deck. I will see you later, Filthy Rich. You too, mom” Rarity excused herself, put her bags on the ground gently, and walked over to a deck to her left. She opened the doors, to the outside. A gentle breeze caressed through Rarity’s mane. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the soft wind for a sec, before reopening her eyes. She pulled out the letter Sweetie Belle had given her earlier. She unfolded it without haste.

Dear Rarity,

I want you to know you’re the best sister a little sister can ask for. You’ve helped me through many things, taught me the art of the dress, and in fact, I think you might have been doing a better job at raising me than mom had ever! But, I never thought I would see the day you depart, and this breaks my heart dearly. But alas, we can still write to each other! Can’t we? Yes we can! But still, it won’t be the same in the boutique without you. I never thought I’d see the day when you departed from home, and it would be just me. But it’s that day now, and I have to accept it. This is your life, after all. But thank you. Thank you for being the best sister in the world! I’ll love you forever!

With lots of love,

Sweetie Belle

Rarity folded the letter and blankly looked up. The longing for her sister smacked her like a brick, and if that’s what her sister really felt about her, then she must’ve adored her. A lot.

“THE TITANIC WILL NOW PROCEED TO LEAVE THE DOCK!” The voice rang for the last time in the clearing. Ponies of all race were now screaming with joy. The earth and unicorn ponies, stood at the safety rail keeping them back from falling into the deep blue waters below. They waved their hats, waved hoofs as they continued to shout their goodbyes.

“Hey. Rarity” Rarity looked up. Rainbow Dash was hovering in the air just above her.

“Dashie what are you doing!?” Rarity asked, questioning the Pegasi’s behavior.

“Just saying goodbye” Rainbow said, hugging Rarity.

Rarity opened her mouth to speak, but closed it when Rainbow flew off without another word. Rarity watched the cyan Pegasus fly off, before she returned to her business.

BEEEEEP The Titanic let out a siren before Rarity was jerked off her hooves.

“Waah!” Rarity fell over and hit the floor of the ship as it began to slowly move across the waters. She got up instantly, brushed herself and treated it as if nothing had just happened. Swallowing, she galloped over to an empty spot at the safety rails.

“BYEEE!” She cried, waving a white hoof at the crowd. Maybe her friends saw her. Hopefully.
As the dock left her view, she started towards the door leading to the inside of the ship.

“Rarity come here!” Ribbon Wishes called, waving a hoof.

Rarity trudged over, unwillingly. She wanted to go explorer and find her room.

“Put this dress on! I don’t want you walking around naked like a second-class pony” Ribbon Wishes said sternly into Rarity’s ear, putting a pink, smooth dress in hoof.

“Okay, okay” Rarity pulled away to find somewhere to put on the dress.

’Maybe in my room’ Rarity thought to herself, gathering her bags. She waled to the other end of the hall to see a beautiful elevator. The doors were a gleaming silver, and the same gold pattern from the floor was like a gate separating her from the elevator. With a spare hoof, she pressed the glowing yellow button.

Instantly, both doors parted and Rarity walked inside. Mirrors hung on each wall of the room, and each button seemed to be cloned to the one she had pressed on the outside.

As the elevator proceeded up, she smiled to herself. This is going good so far. The elevator stopped as she reached her floor. The doors opened wide for Rarity to step out, and closed with a ‘click’ behind her.

Room three … Room three’ Rarity thought to herself over and over as she examined the bold number on each room door. At last, she came upon her room. Rarity opened the door, which opened with a click as she entered the room. The white pony gasped in wonder at her room.

A king sized bed with fluffy white sheets covered her bed, large windows hung at the far side of the room, and a polished dresser stood facing away from her bed. The floor was made of a baby blue carpet, and the walls were a pearl white. With a few touches, she can make this room at home. Almost at once she began unpacking her supplies.

Wrong Answer

Like packing, it took hours. And when taking hours, it makes concentration and boredom. And with concentration and boredom, comes a mess of Rarity’s room. Rarity sighed. She was somewhat tired, and her room was a mess with her materials scattered and littered everywhere upon her blue floor. On her bedspread laid the dress her mother wished for her to put on. Taking a break from the unpacking, she stood up and put the dress around her. Pink linings fell across her flank, and it just covered her cutie mark. To hold the dress up, a sapphire gem held two pieces of fabric together.

’Not to be too vain .. But this dress looks stunning on me!’ Rarity thought in amazement to herself as she posed in different ways. Suddenly, she had the urge to wander around The Titanic once more, except looking better than she had before. Glancing back to the mess on her floor, she sighed. She would get back to it later. Instead, she has a ship to wander around! The unicorn picked up a golden key that laid on her counter with a levitation spell, and she walked out of her room, shutting and locking the door behind her.

As the elevator carried her back up to the main floor, Filthy Rich greeted her once more as she stepped out of the elevator.

“Miss Rarity. I know this may be soon but I assure you at all costs I’m a good stallion at heart. I’ve known your mother for ages and when I first laid my eyes on you .. I knew I had to be with you. So” Filthy Rich confessed, smiling the slightest as he gazed into her blue eyes.

Ribbon Wishes stood behind Filthy Rich, staring at Rarity intently. It was that pressure look from her mother that made her give out her choice, but instantly regretting it right after.

“Miss Rarity, will you marry me?” Filthy Rich asked, kneeling before the taken aback mare. She of course didn’t expect it, and she hadn’t planned on saying yes, but with her mothers glare, she had to.

“Yes Filthy Rich. I do” The white pony said softly.

Ponies around the room watching the married couple clapped their hooves at the sweet sight. Rarity smiled at the crowd, but they didn’t know that the two never dated before, let alone just met that night

“I-I have to go. I ..” Rarity paused, thinking of an excuse. Normally she liked the attention, but being with Filthy Rich was just too awkward.

“I have to go get fresh air! Yes that’s it” Rarity announced sheepishly, quickly exiting to a pair of doors nearby.

“Huh. That mares acting funny. It’s bothering me a little” Filthy Rich said as Rarity trotted out to one part of the deck. The other ponies and Ribbon Wishes couldn’t help but nod their agreement.
Rarity dashed out passed the dock of the deck, galloping past ponies that were watching her, wondering what was wrong. As she proceeded to the edge of the ship, she halted to a stop as she neared the very end of the Titanic. She looked over the edge of the large ship and observed the deep blue waves crashing against the edge of the ship. Rarity felt a sickening feeling rise in her belly as the white foam of the ocean washed up against the over sized ship.

Well, there’s one escape’ one voice in her mind spoke as she watched the waves roll in. She jumped back in shock as the thought came to mind. But the voice had a point. Her mother was forcing her to an engagement with a stallion she didn’t know, she had to leave her best friends behind, Sweetiebelle was back at Ponyville, what else could go wrong?

Rarity swallowed and peered over the edge again. Hesitantly, she climbed up onto the railing, and over the edge. She was just barely on the ship now. Her fore-hooves still hanging onto the rail, and her hind hooves just the slightest on the dock is what kept her from falling into the ocean below.

’Just … One … Jump’ The words seemed to give her couragement, but she couldn’t bring herself to do such an act.

’Well, I should get this over with The unicorn mused to herself as she sighed.

’I’ll just count from 10 … 9 … 8 .. 7 … 6 … 5 …. 4 …. 3 …. 2 …’

Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice.

“Don’t do it!”

The white unicorn turned around to see a familiar face. She recognized it from somewhere, but she couldn’t place a hoof on it. Oh. Right. He was the stallion who was looking at her earlier that evening.

“If you jump in there, you’re going to make me jump in there after you and rescue you” The stallion said, trotting up to her.

Rarity opened her mouth to reply, to be cut off again by the stallion.

“Which is really cold, and both of us will end up dying” He added, adding a small smile.

“Well why would you do such foolish act then?” The mare questioned.

“To save you. I thought that would be obvious by now” The stallion said.

“How cold is the water?” Rarity asked, glancing over the edge again.

“Too cold to swim in. Once you get in, the feeling of pain overtakes your mind and that’s ALL you can think about” The other pony said, waving his hoof.

“So, what do you say, come on back behind the rails?” He asked, holding out his hoof to Rarity’s.

The mare glared at the stallion.

“No. I’m going to jump” She said impatiently.

“Then why haven’t you yet?” The other pony asked, staring at Rarity for a valid response.

“Because you’re distracting me” Rarity replied.

“Well, I’m just saying but you would’ve jumped by now”

“You’re a crazy stallion, you know that?” Rarity snapped, before looking out to the ocean before her.

The stallion smirked.

“Not trying to be rude and all miss, but I’m not the one hanging over the edge of a boat you know”

Rarity was about to raise a hoof to face-hoof herself, but she was quickly reminded that her life was on the edge here.

“Go away so I can jump” Rarity felt annoyance prick into her voice. What right did this stallion have to tell her what to do?

“Then you’re going to make me jump, too” He sighed, as he took off his jacket and threw it onto the ground.

Rarity sighed in defeat. She didn’t want this pony to jump with her.

“So you’re coming out? I’m Jack, by the way” He stated, holding out his hoof.

“I’m Rarity” Rarity said, and took his hoof. Jack proceeded to lift her over the railings, she felt herself slip.

The fashionista gasped as she felt her hind legs slip, and the surface beneath her hooves disappear.

“HELP!” Rarity screamed, as she dangled over the edge. Jack was quick to react. He took his spare hoof and hauled her over the railing, but with the extra weight they went toppling onto the deck.

“What’s going on here!?” A new voice erupted, the two ponies looked up to see some of the guards.

“You get off the mare this instant!” One of the guards snarled, hauling the male unicorn off the mare.

“What do you think you’re doing, assaulting her like that?” The other guard forcefully put hoof-cuffs around Jacks hooves, who looked down weakly.

“What was this filth doing with my feyonce?” Filthy Rich’s voice said threateningly from a few meters away.

“Stop! Don’t be mad! He saved my life!” Rarity cried at the guards, and Filthy Rich. The three ponies looked at her for an explanation.

“Well you see, I was … I was standing and leaning over the edge when … Too see the … The um … The ..” Rarity began sheepishly.

“To see the propellers?” One of the guards asked, tilting his head.

“Yes! To see the propellers … Then I .. Then I slipped! And then Jack here, saved my life” Rarity finished with a confident smile. But she didn’t’ feel confident inside.

“Is this true?” One guard asked, eyeing Jack suspiciously.

Jack nodded.

“Well then the colt is a life saver!” The guard fumbled with Jacks hoof cuffs before the came off completely.

“I know it, machinery and mares don’t mix” The other guard said, shaking his head disapprovingly.

“Come on Rarity, let’s get you inside. You must be cold” Filthy Rich said, beckoning Rarity to his side. Rarity trotted over, and as soon as the couple began to trot away, one of the guards spoke up.

“Um, a little something for the boy?” He asked. Filthy Rich turned around.

“Oh .. Right. 20 should do it” Filthy Rich said, handing over 20 bits to the third-class stallion.

“Maybe a little more? After all, he did save the mare you love” Rarity added, smiling a small smile.

Filthy Rich stiffened, then spoke hesitantly.

“Would you like to join us for dinner, then?” Filthy Riche’s voice turned curt and cold.

But Jack was oblivious.

“Of course!” He said excitedly.

“Meet us tomorrow in the upper dining room at 6 sharp” Filthy Rich said, before turning around with Rarity along with him.
