It was a beautiful morning in Ponyville the birds were singing and the sun had begun to climb over the horizon. There was one pony in the outskirts of the town, that
was already awake.
Her name was Fluttershy, she was busy feeding all of her animal friends.
From the smallest mouse to the biggest seal.
What better way to start the day, than by caring for all the wonderful little critters and all the big proud mammals
To Fluttershy there was no better thing.
“Good morning everybody.” She said in a happy singsong voice.
After feeding all the animals, she sat herself down by the table and poured herself some Applejack Cereal. She always thought it was funny that there was a brand of
cereal with the same name as one of her friends.
She was munching away at her cereal and sipping on a cup of herbal tea. She was so focused on eating, that she failed to notice that a big black snake slithered its
way inside her cottage.
The snake slithered across the floor and made its way up one of the table legs. The snake hissed at Fluttershy and bared its long sharp fangs. It then struck at her,
like the cold blooded predator it was. Only a few inches away from Fluttershy’s cheek did it stop, it began to lick her cheek and caressed its scaly body against
her cheek.
Fluttershy looked up from her cereal. “Oh, good morning Grayscale.” she said with a smile as she took the snake into her hooves and placed it in her mane.
“I know you like it inside my mane, and I have not forgotten that I promised to take you sunbathing today. Just let me finish my breakfast and then we will go.”
Grayscale gave a nod and hissed with pleasure.
Fluttershy finished her breakfast, she strapped on her saddlebags and walked towards the town market. She was going to smack two grapes in one clap, while Grayscale
was enjoying his sunbathing, she could do some grocery shopping.
The sun stood high in the air and it was really hot outside, Grayscale was snoozing inside Fluttershy’s mane and was simply enjoying himself.
“Now let’s see, I got everything on my list.” Fluttershy thought while stuffing her shopping list back into her now full saddlebag. But then she felt something hard
inside her saddlebag, she fished out *The big book about animals, everything you need to know about any animal, from Dung Beetles to Pikachus.*
“Oh my, I was supposed to bring this book back to the library yesterday. I hope Twilight won't be upset with me. I need to return it immediately and tell her how
sorry I am.”
She walked quickly towards the hollowed out tree that was the town library, also know as the current resident of her good friend Twilight Sparkle.
She carefully knocked on the door. *Knock,knock,knock!* but nopony answered it. She carefully pushed the door open and peeked inside. “Ummm, hello is anypony home?”
She said in almost a whisper.
There seemed to be nopony home, but Fluttershy decided to walk inside anyway. The library was a complete mess, there were books scattered everywhere and the smell of
dirty dishes were oozing out from kitchen, the smell alone was almost enough to knock poor Fluttershy out cold. But she held her breath. “This is disgusting,
I wonder how it could have gotten this bad.” She scrunched her face in disgust.
“Well, I'm going to clean up this mess for her, that is what a true friend would do.”
Fluttershy placed her saddlebags on the floor, put on a apron and begun to clean the dirty dishes.
She then organized all the books as good as she could, she then brewed some tea for herself and Twilight. “Ohh, I hope she won’t mind that I used some of her tea.”
Fluttershy sat down by the table and enjoyed the sight of a clean library, the tea kettle whistled and she poured herself a cup. *Slurp* “I hope Twilight comes home
soon, I don't want to overstay my welcome.” *Slurp* Fluttershy started to cough, she had accidentally gotten the tea in the wrong pipe. *Cough, cough* “Oh my. That
was dangerous.”
Half an hour passed and Fluttershy was starting to get tired. *Yawn* “I think I’ll take a small nap while I wait. I hope Twilight won't mind that I borrow her bed
for a moment."
What was intended to be a small nap, turned into a big nap, Twilight had placed an enchantment on her bed that allowed her to fall asleep easier, she knew that it
was necessary to sleep, but sometimes she needed a little extra push.
When Fluttershy fell asleep so did Grayscale, he slumped out of her mane and slithered underneath one of the pillows.
A few hours later Twilight walked towards the library. “Oh, why did Spike have to go jewel hunting with Rarity today?” She groaned. ”We were going to clean the
library today. Now I need to do it alone.”
She pushed the door open and to her great surprise, the entire library was clean. Her frown turned itself upside down and she felt really happy. “I wonder who did
this?” She then heard some soft snoring coming from her bedroom. She flared her horn ready to blast the intruder, even though somepony had cleaned her house, it did
not give him or her the right to sleep in her bed.
Twilight walked slowly up the stairs, she was ready for a burglar or even a Xenomorph, nopony except herself was allowed to sleep in her bed. To her great surprise
she saw Fluttershy sleeping like a foal in her bed.
Twilight walked up to the edge of the bed, she simply looked at Fluttershy for a moment.
“She looks adorable when she sleeps, I almost feel bad for waking her.” She carefully nudged Fluttershy. But it only got her to flip over on her side. Twilight
shook Fluttershy carefully.
“No mommy, only five more minutes.” The yellow pegasus mumbled in her sleep.
Twilight did not want to do this, but she was out of options. She leaned towards Fluttershy’s ear.
“Fluttershy run! There is a dragon in here, ROAR!” She said in a loud but gently voice.
“Epp!” Fluttershy dived under the bed faster than a frog catches a fly. “Epp, ohhh.” Fluttershy was shaking like a leaf under the bed.
Twilight giggled a little, but she cut her laugh short in order to cheek on Fluttershy. She peeked underneath the bed only to find the poor pegasus trying to hide
beneath her mane.
“Fluttershy, I'm sorry about scaring you. But it was the only thing I could think of, I did not want to throw water on you or something. I’m sorry, so please come
out of there.” She said with a sad tone in her voice.
Fluttershy poked her head out from under the bed, she blushed and smiled awkwardly.
“Oh, it’s ok Twilight. I should not have slept in you bed at all, it was very rude of me.”
Fluttershy crawled out from under the bed and rose to her hooves. She brushed some dust of her coat. She then turned to Twilight and smiled.
“I'm going to assume that it was you who cleaned my house.”
“I hope it was ok, I hope I don't messed something up, I sorted the books as good as I could. But there are so many and I-” Twilight put her hoof over FLuttershy’s
mouth. “Epp.”
“It’s ok Fluttershy. I’m happy that you did. Cleaning is not one of my favorite things to do. Anyway how about I treat you to lunch somewhere?”
“That won’t be necessary I was about to leave anyway.”
“No no no, I insist. I need to thank you for cleaning my house somehow. Now lets go.”
“Well if you insist.”
The two friends left the library and walked towards one of their favorite restaurants. After a delicious lunch and a nice conversation, they split up and walked
towards their own homes.
Twilight was humming happily as she walked over to her books and rearranged them. She then picked out some study material and walked upstairs for yet another all
nighter. Several hours later, Twilight decided that enough was enough and she decided to hit the hay. Spike was downstairs sleeping in his basket. He had been
exhausted after a long day of digging, but he would never say no to Rarity.

The next day arrived and Twilight was beginning to wake up. She felt something strange around her neck. “Did I wear a scarf to bed last night?”
She mumbled to herself.
Twilight reached over with one of her hooves, she tried to remove whatever it was she was wearing around her neck. But to her great surprise she heard an angry
hissing. She slowly opened her eyes, only to be greeted by a pair of slitted green eyes.
Grayscale was staring down at the purple mare. He hissed and bared his sharp fangs.
Twilight was petrified. She was terrified of snake, ever since she was bitten by one when she was a foal. Her heartbeat speed up and tears were flowing down her
cheeks. Twilight wanted to scream but she was too scared, what if it bit her.
Grayscale tilted his head left and right. He did not recognise this mare, it was not his golden goddess Fluttershy that was for sure. He leaned closer to the unknown
mare’s face, he stuck his tongue out a few times. He could see the fear in her eyes, it had been a long time since anything had been this afraid of him. Back at the
domain of his goddess, he was a simple guardian. He would protect the other animals from feral snakes and other threats. Thus was his duty. This mare however did not
seem like a threat. But it was still not his goddess.
Spike knocked on the door to Twilights room.
“Breakfast is ready. Twilight are you awake?”
Spike got no answer. He decided to open the door to see of his sister was awake, he opened the door and saw Twilight laying in bed with a big snake around her neck.
Spike rushed over to her.
“Wow Twilight, I thought you hated snakes. I got to say i'm impressed, this is a rather big one.”
Twilight looked at spike, tears running down her cheeks.
“Sp..pp.ppike g-go and g-get Fl-Flu-Fluttershy...now.” she whispered.
Once Spike realised what was going on he sprinted out the door and ran as fast as he could towards Fluttershy’s cottage.
Grayscale never averted his gaze from the unknow mare. It had been so long since he had seen such an intense look of pure fear in some things eye’s. He decided to
enjoy it, afterall he was still a predator at heart. He slithered across Twilights face and bared his fangs at her. Twilight whimpered like a scared puppy with every
movement. He then grabbed her by the throat once again and hissed at her.
A few minutes later. Fluttershy and Spike arrived at the library. Fluttershy flew up the stairs and into Twilight’s room. When she laid eyes on the situation she
breath a sigh of relief, and she casually walked up to the bed.
Grayscale would recognize the scent of his goddess anywhere. He turned his head and hissed happily, he then released the unknown mare and slithered up Fluttershys'
hoof and around her neck until he finally reached her soft pink mane.
“I was worried about you Grayscale, I’m so sorry that I forgot you here yesterday. I hope you can forgive me.”
A gentle hiss was heard from within Fluttershy’s mane. “Wonderful.” Fluttershy smiled.
“I hope did not scare you too much Twilight. Grayscale is the most gentle snake in the world, he would never hurt anypony.”
“Get him out of here!” Twilight snapped.
“Oh my.” Fluttershy walked out the door and out of the library.
“I know that she is afraid of snakes, but I never guessed she would be so upset. I should visit her later to make sure that she is alright."
She started humming a merry tune, she was so happy that Grayscale was back.

Back at the library Twilight had finally manage to get out of bed. Her heart was still racing and she was sweating like an icecube in the sun.
She levitated her sheets and walked over to the washroom. She put them in a bin, she then walked towards the bathroom.
“Wow Twilight that was quite the morning, but I'm glad everything is back to normal.” Spike said and took a breath of relief.
“Eww, what is that smell?” Spike’s eyes widen and a tiny smirk formed on his lips. “Twilight did you wet the bed?”
“Not a word spike! Not a word.” Twilight walked into the bathroom, with a heavy blush on her cheeks.
