"Sorry it had to be this way princesses but I'll fix it so this doesn’t even HAPPEN” Those were the last words spoken before Twilight disappeared. The purple alicorn princess, swore to fix everything and she used every ounce of magic into this one spell. Seconds later she was gone from the Forbidden Achieve in Canterlot Castle. On her journey to fix what wrong, that Celestia had done to her. Twilight travelled back in time a year before her journey BEGAN.
947 years in the past--
The 999th summer sun celebration where ponies gather from all over Equestria gather round to enjoy the sun. Millions of ponies around of Equestria come and celebrate the New Year by watching Princess Celestia rise the summer sun. What ponies didn't know was that this year is going to be very different and this year is where there peaceful life ends. Back in the room of Canterlot Castle, sat a little, purple unicorn lying on her bed.
Twilight P.O.V--
“Ouch wait where…where am I?” I paused for a second and look around at my surroundings. I found myself lying in a large bed with a purple blanket on top of me. I knew I was in Canterlot Castle at that point so I wiped my eyes and saw Spike fast asleep in his basket beside my bed. Spike has his own room but to be sure I checked if there were any difference, then I looked in the mirror. I just knew it worked because Spike was a full grown dragon that lives else where. However he can shrink to his original size because we are connected if ones in danger like when I passed out he was his small size when he couldn't reach me, he shrunk down to get to my room. Now he can do it on command. I can turn into a dragon if he is in danger of dragons and in general. We both have powers of us sensing danger of each other.
Then I looked at the mirror checking if I had wings. “Yes…yes…yes...yes the spell worked best now I can change everything. Oh how brilliant am I? Yes I am the most brilliant aren't I” Patting myself on the head with the biggest grin on my face then I did my happy dance.
“Twilight what are you doing?” I turned round to see Spike half asleep in his basket.
I simply smiled. “Oh just thinking out loud that’s all and Spike as I have been doing a lot of thinking and" I paused and answered more calmly. "Spike, do you want to be my legally adopted son since I am at legal age? I know it's a big decision, you don't have to answer straight away. Sorry you can have all the time in the world to think but I just wounded if you wanted too. You can still be my number one assistant even if you don’t want to be my adopted son. I hope you will consider it please”. I prayed he would say yes because we always acted like mother and son. Spike got up and stared at me. I was scared of his answer because he might not want it.
“Yes thank you this is the greatest thing you could ever do for me thank you Twi…..mom” We started tearing up and gave each other a big hug. I whispered “I love you too son” with a single tear of happiness. Then I heard the devil coming in.
“Hello my faithful student, I see you both are awake” Celestia replied. I resisted the urge to attack with full force.
“Yes we both have something to tell you” I explained.
“What is it?” Celestia asked.
“Well I decided to adopt as my legal son so everyone knows it. I just always thought of us like mother and son. I had been doing a lot of thinking and since I'm 19, I am at legal age” I said with pride
Celestia starred at us then smiled. “I fully support and good time too right in time for the summer sun celebration”
“Yes I...can’t…wait” I took all my will power not to see my anger.
“Bye my faithful student and Spike, I got duties to attend too” With that she walked off out the door.
“Spike lets go see are friends and have a day out”
“Yeah I can’t wait” Spike said enthusiastically as they headed to Moondancer's house.
Spike and I knocked on the door calling out Moondancer. ”Moondancer it’s us me and Spike”
“Twilight?” Moondancer questioned
“Happy Birthday Moondancer! I was just wondering if you want to come out and celebrate. Today's not only your Birthday but today I'm also planning to adopt Spike as my legal son. This is my treat, I got you something” Moondancer opened the gift. It was the rare Starswirl the Bearded book, there were only 3 in the entire world. She thanked me and jumped around like a little filly. Then she agreed and we visited Minuette, Lemon Hearts and Twinkle shine. We all headed to Canterlot Goodies. They were very suspicious of my behaviour because I seemed different to them but they shrugged it off as we walked off to the restaurant.
It wasn’t that fancy as other restaurants like the Italian restaurants in Canterlot but good. They had many options of food. There was my favourite type of food, daisy sandwiches. After we all ordered we sat down with are food on this big white table with 6 chairs. They seemed happy but quiet because they know I would never waste a minute without complaining or without a book. They were quiet but I could see them wanted to ask, then Minuette spoke up.
“Hay Twilight I wasn’t going to say anything but we all think you are acting different more cheerful” Minuette said. They all nodded even Spike.
Twinkle pointed her hoof and put a horrible expression. “Twilight I know you are excited but you haven’t even gone studying today or read at the table like you always do. NOW WHO ARE YOU ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH TWILIGHT?” Twinkle shouted. She looks like she was going to attack me so I shuffled my chair back in case she tried something. Lemon pulled Twinkle back.
“Twilight is there something we should know? We are all friends here please tell us. We wouldn’t be mad” Lemon Heartstrings calmly spook.
I then used the breathing technique Cadence taught me. I then recollected my thoughts and spoke. “Girls I…I…I just been thinking of my future and” I paused and said “I realised I don’t want to spend my entire life studding, I want to move and do some travelling. I still study just now I was just thinking of doing some exploring with Spike and I_” I blurted out. “I want to leave, meaning that I want to do some traveling don't worry, I'll still write to you all. I also want to apologise for not hanging out more and being a bad friends”. They all stared at me then smiled.
“Hay its ok. We are always friends. You might not like being that sociable but you will always be our friend, right girls. As long as we can come visit you and remember to right we still have our connection even when we are far apart” Moondancer explained. The rest of the girls nodded and gave me a hug.
Then Spike jumped in the air with a big simile. “You want us to travel around Equestria, this is getting more exciting by every word you say.” Spike paused and stopped jumping. “I can’t wait but what about you being Princess Celestia's student” Spike asked. I didn’t know how to answer and just stared at him. I knew I had forgotten to plan what to do. I had it all planed but guess not.
“Umm….umm I am just….just going to say it like ripping a bandage of I am sure she’ll understand. I have a lot of money for traveling and I think I can get a job with my qualification. Let’s cross the bridge when it comes to it ok” I made up on the spot. After the dinner we departed and all headed back home. I watched the stars twinkle as Spike and I headed back to the palace.
“Mom are you sure about all this, I mean this is all so sudden and-“It didn’t let him finish that sentence.
“Yes Spike I have been planning this for a long time. When we move, I can start to have a normal job. Then we get house, then you will have kids plus I’ll grow old and die peacefully. I will fix everything an improve Equestria’s by bringing technology further. When you have a second chance Spike, you make things better yourself and other. With the knowledge and experience I have gained I will bring Equestria to a better age. Sorry I have put a lot of thought into it and yet it has so many gaps in my plan due to spending so much time to get back in time. But this is the start of a new adventure Spike, my son, we can do some traveling and maybe visits some dragons. Of course I will be at a safe distance watching, they don’t like ponies that much, only when you are old enough of course. One day you will be a big dragon as long as you don’t give into greed and keep caring you will be fine my son. Just remember whatever happens I will always be there for you through thick and thin as you do for me. Don’t worry about what happen in the future but I hope I get to still be alive to see your kids. ”
“I love you mom” Spike whispered.
“I love you my son” I simply said. At the Castle we saw Celestia waiting for us. I saw her standing in front of us with a stern expression.
“Twilight! Where were you two bean its past midnight I was worried about you two?” Celestia explained.
“Well the girls, Spike and I were having a day out as it will. Sorry just celebrating and I have something to tell you it’s that. I have been thinking of moving. Spike and I are moving out the palace. I have been thinking really hard about my future. I am just going to sort out the legal stuff about adoption and start a life of my own. It is just going to take a few days" Celestia’s eyes widen I tried not to simile or grin.
“If that is your decision then I will fully support that” Celestia calmly said. Then we walked up to our room.
The night was nearly ending and without any sleep. I was at the point of sleeping but I couldn’t. I tried reading a book, counting sheep and reciting the aphanitic alphabet but I couldn’t. All is that I was thinking was that ‘why I came back?’
Simple answer
‘Because I don’t want to be a princess because I am immortal with no friends’
I knew the answer was clear but I couldn’t shake that feeling that everything is going to blow up in my face. And I am never wrong about that but I wished I was.
3 weeks later--
I got to work and sorted out my money and the adoption process. It took so long but I managed somehow. Spike and I decided to spend time with our friends before we headed back to the palace and packed are belongings. When we got back I decided to say are goodbyes before we leave tomorrow. I have made a plan to be the go to Manhattan. I am going to be the new librarian to a larger library than Ponyville and a magic researcher. They said they pay well and I had a room spare. First there is one reason I am going there and that is to see Trixie. She is performing in the Town Centre in a few weeks. I am going to beat her in a duel and make her my friend. I know it needs more work but I cross that when I come to it. Note to self 'think of better plan'.
Here I am leaving the palace but first I have some unfinished words with Celestia. We were in the gardens. Celestia was quiet as we headed out the palace. This was not in her visions and I knew it. I knew, she knew, that something is amiss.
"Well my faithful student this is it, I hope you come visit some time soon." Celestia put a hoof on my shoulder and started to hide her sadness. "And you to Spike I hope you take care of her as she does to you" I gave her hug and said are goodbyes. When Spike was out the door I turned to face Celestia.
"I'll miss you" I hugged her. "Say bye for me to Luna, she'll be ok as long as the elements don't turn me back to being what I will or will not become plus I am not completing that spell you had planning for me." I pulled away and she stared at me in shock. "Don't get it yet, you will. Just remember this, you will not, I repeat, you will not trick me or use me anymore if you know what's good for you. If you give me that spell you planned since I was young, I will seek my revenge but at least you have your sister Luna, Cadence and Furry Heart to live that long life. I can see why Sunset enjoyed this one upping thing, its thrilling by having the cards in my hoofs but she could say hands in that universe. I know the tree of harmony can find another princess. There is going to be so much chaos I'm causing, oh how Discord would love to see this. Just remember to sent Cadence to the Crystal Empire as soon as it return. Spike and I would retrieve the Crystal Heart just send us a memo if you want to save it" I spoke. "Anyway, bye Celestia I am not going giving you a cheat sheet on everything now that would be wrong" I grinned, trying to hide me laugh, leaving in Celestia in shock about how I knew that. I closed the door so Spike and I bulleted to the train station.
