After that important meeting with Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, Link, and his new friends were back in Ponyville. The young Hylian never stopped thinking about the vision with these... "changeling" creatures. Another concern was Colin, and all his friends back home in Hyrule. For this vision was also sought by Princess Zelda, for Hyrule along with it's people and animals can be in grave danger from these monsters too.
"What's wrong, Link?" asked Fluttershy, noticing Link's concerned face.
Link nodded his head, leaving his thinking and back to reality. "Well, if you all must know. I have friends from my village, and they probably know that I am missing. I just hope they'll be alright." he admitted
"I'm pretty sure they are just fine." said Twilight, trying to cheer him up a little.
"What kind of... friends do you have?" Rainbow asked him curiously.
"I think that is private, Rainbow." Rarity said to her.
"No, it's fine." Link said, still walking through town. "I might as well tell you about the people I care about. You see-" he paused as he saw three little fillies running up to him and the Pony gang. An orange pegasus with a tomboyish esque hairstyle, a yellow earth filly with a long red mane and tail with a pink bow-tie, and a white unicorn filly with a white mane and tail with a few light purple streaks.
Link began to panic a little, worried that these little fillies might run him over like what with him and Lyra a little earlier today. He motioned his hands into a small battle pose, ready to face the fillies like he would do with the gorons charging him while he was wearing the iron boots or the Ordon goats back home.
"Hey, Applejack." said the yellow earth mare. She also had a southwestern or a cowgirl type of accent like Applejack did.
"Hey Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo." Applejack said to her. "What brings you here?"
"Well, we've heard about this... creature that everypony has been talking about and we though that we should meet him, right girls?" said the unicorn filly.
"Right!" replied the other two.
The three little children turned their attention to Link, and looked at him with extreme curiosity. They of course, have also never seen a creature like Link before.
"Soooo.... what kind of a monster are you?" the orange pegasus asked, circling around him with observation.
"Scootaloo!" Twilight scolded. "He's not a monster."
Link laughed. "It's alright, Twilight. These three kind of remind of some kids back in Hyrule." he said. He looked at the three fillies and politely said "My name is Link, and I come from a land called Hyrule."
"Link?" said the yellow earth filly. "I have never heard of a name like that before."
"What kind of a name is that?" the white unicorn asked.
"What kind of a land is this... Hyrule?" the orange pegasus added.
"I think that's too many questions for him to answer girls." said Rarity.
"Sorry about them, they are just curious." said Rainbow Dash.
"Yeah, sorry if we were in your way." said the orange filly.
Link smiled at them. "It's okay. I'm used to it. Besides, like I said, they all remind of some friends that are your age back in my homeland."
The three fillies smiled at him back. "So, we might as well tell you our names now." said the yellow southern filly. "My names's Applebloom, Applejack's sister."
"I'm Scootaloo." said the orange pegasus filly.
"And I'm Sweetie Belle, Rarity's sister." the unicorn squeaked.
Link looked at the girls and then to Rarity and Applejack, and realized that they are siblings, because of their appearances, and Applebloom's similar accent. "Awesome." Link commented
"and we are...." Sweetie Belle began
"You might want to cover your ears." Applejack whispered to Link's ear like something really loud was about to happen right now.
"THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS YAY!" the fillies exclaimed at the top of their lungs. Link covered his ears too protect his eardrums. It sounded like, or was close to the sound of the calls of Death Sword or Yeta when she was under the influence from the mirror of Twilight.
Despite their little... outburst, these fillies were all adorable for Link to handle. "It's a pleasure to meet you all." he said to them.
"Well, we might as well be getting our cutie marks for rat catcher." said Applebloom.
"It's nice to meet you Link." said Sweetie Belle.
"Yeah, you're awesome." Scootaloo complimented.
Link lightly laughed at her compliment. "You're welcome, Scootaloo. It's very nice to meet you all. Would you... like to hang out sometime? Or at least play?"
"Totally!" Sweetie Belle said happily.
"Yeah, We would love that." said Applebloom.
"Bye Link." the fillies said to him as they left to get their cutie marks.
"See you kids later." Link called back to them. He then continued to walk through Ponyville with Spike and the girls following him.
"So you were saying about your friends back home." said Rainbow Dash
"Oh! right. Well, I might was well start with the people in my hometown, Ordon village." While he was walking, he began "Ordon village is a very peaceful village, and two small lakes within it, very perfect for fishing. All of my friends were human, well... they all had round ears instead of pointed ears like mine."
His new friends were really fascinated by this.
"Did you have a job?" Fluttershy asked
"Oh yes. I was a goat herder at Ordon Ranch with Fado, a close friend of mine about my age." Link answered. "The ranch was just north of the village, and pretty big too."
"What kind of goats were they?" asked Twilight
"They were just called Ordon goats." Link answered. "Here let me show you a picture of one." He reached into his pocket to show an Ordon goat to the girls and Spike. "Now, you might laugh a little from this picture." he said as he stopped before showing it.
The girls and Spike looked at it, Rainbow began to snicker from it's appearance, and then she gaffed, falling to the grassy floor.
"Hahahahah! That is one of the funniest looking goats I have ever seen?" said Rainbow, and then she continued laughing.
Fluttershy however, thought it was adorable and an amazing creature. "How cute." she said.
"I really admire his horns." rarity added.
"Do they produce cheese or milk?" Spike asked curiously
"Oh yes, their cheese is very round and circular, and it looks like a ring. Their milk and their dairy is actually rather delicious. These goats are very friendly creatures, but you would want to stand clear if they get angry, for they can charge you if provoked, but only if you attack it first, then it will become aggressive."
"Are there a lot of these goats in your homeland?" Twilight asked
"Oh they are quite a common sight, yes. When I was in Hyrule castle town in the west entrance of the city, there was a small Ordon goat stable."
"That's rather marvelous." said Rarity.
"About some friends of mine, I'll start with the kids in my village. Malo, Talo, Beth, and Colin. Malo and Talo were brothers. Talo was the older brother, and is really adventurous. Malo is younger, and alot more mature than him, but he can be a little rude sometimes. This is a little weird to you, but Malo has created his own marketing franchise called Malo mart, and it has become a huge success, even in Hyrule castle town, he is becoming popular."
It was rather an unbelievable detail that Twilight, and her friends would believe a boy would run a business like that.
"How would a young boy run a business?" Applejack asked a little confused.
"I don't know. I wondered the same thing as you did, Applejack." Link said. "Anyway, Beth was a rather precautious girl and like the other kids, she deeply respected me like a hero. Like I said, those fillies remind me of them a little."
"What about that other kid... ah... what's his name?" said Rainbow Dash
"Colin. He is a really nice boy, you would all love him. He used to be a really shy kid, and he always wanted to be like me more than any other of the kids. After I defeated Ganondorf, I took him under my wing and taught him the ways of the sword. So far over the months, he's getting really good at it."
"That's amazing." said Fluttershy. "And what a nice thing to do for him. He doesn't get hurt does he?"
"Of course, not Fluttershy. He's smart, he knows what he would do with a sword instead of going all willy-nilly with a sword and shield. You would all love him. He's... he's like a little brother to me."
The girls and Spike went "Aww."
Link told his friends about the children's parents in the village and described to them what they were all like. Twilight and her friends definitely wished that they can meet these nice people.
"Finally," Link said "There was Illia, a girl a year younger than me. We... we..." Link was trying to think of the best word to describe his relationship between him and Illia.
Twilight made a little smirk and teased "Somepony has a little crush."
Link blushed and said "no, no, no, we're not.... in love."
"Oh i think you are in love." Rarity said with joy.
"It's not like that... we're just good friends." Link said.
"Sure you are." said Rainbow teasingly.
"Shut up." Link said. "So, where can i stay or sleep in for a little while until i can get back home to Hyrule?" He asked.
"Where do you wanna sleep?" Asked Pinkie Pie.
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind if you stayed at my farm for a little while." Applejack offered.
"Or at my shop." Rarity added.
"We also have a guest bedroom at our castle if you need it." Twilight offered
"And it's a really nice one." The baby dragon added.
"We'll, I would also like to offer you a stay on my cottage." Said Fluttershy in her quiet voice. "But whichever one you choose is okay with me."
"Me too." Said Rainbow
"Me three!" Said Pinkie.
Link was touched by their kind and generous offering, and thought of which one of these houses he should sty in. He worried that if he choose one of his new friends's house, it would hurt her feelings, but Fluttershy said that they would be okay for which answer he would chose.
"Hmm... Let me think about it, and... In the meantime, why don't I just look around Ponyville some more while I think, hmm?" Link said
The girls and Spike smiled at him."that's fine, Link. That would be a good idea to make some more friends. Come find any of us if you need anything." Said Twilight.
"I will." Said Link.
"Well. See you soon Link." Said Rainbow. She and her friends went in different directions and they continued with their normal lives. Link looked around the place with curiosity and tried to look for something to do to pass the time.
The young Hylian would walk around on some areas, and see what he would like to do. Then, a voice called out saying "hey, Link!"
Link turned to the direction of the voice, and saw Lyra and Bon Bon, the two ponies he met earlier. "Oh, hi Lyra, hello Bon Bon" Link said politely
"Hello." Said Bon Bon "wonderful to see you again, Link."
"What can I do you for?" Link asked
"I just wanted to show you the cool harp I just bought at the music store." Lyra said, showing Link the instrument she referred to. It was so beautiful and golden.
"It's... So beautiful." Link said in awe, gently touching the instrument to admire it's beauty.
"Thanks, it costed me over three hundred bits to purchase, but it was all worth it." Lyra hugged the heart like a personal teddy bear. She played the harp with her hooves, and it sounded divine, and very whimsical. After she was done, link clapped his hand to show her how much he enjoyed it,
"That was amazing, very perfect tune." Link said, clapping his hands.
Lyra blushed at his compliment, and said "thanks. It's my special talent. Would you like to try playing it?"
"Sure." Link replied. The green unicorn gave Link the small harp, and the Hylian was thinking of what to play, and played a very beautiful song that sounded like... Zelda's lullaby. While he was playing, many residents of Ponyville came to watch him, and enjoyed it. After Link was done, everypony applaud for him, and then he gave Lyra her harp back
"That was very amazing." Said Bon Bon. "I didn't know you play the harp."
"We'll. I have played it before." Link said. "This is my second time playing it."
"Are there any other songs you can play?" Lyra asked curiously. "You are a natural with a harp."
"Oh, I don't know about that, you're probably better than I am." Link said with modesty while rubbing his arm softly.
"Ah, don't be modest, Link." Lyra said, touching his hand with her hoof. "That was a really amazing song. What was the name of it?"
"Yeah, what was the name of that fascinating tune?" Bon Bon asked
"It was called Zelda's lullaby. Zelda is the princess and ruler of Hyrule, my home." Link answered.
"That's cool." Lyra commented intriguingly.
"It does sound very much like a lullaby." Bon Bon added.
Link smiled. "Well, I might as well be going then, I want to see what else there is in this town." He was about to keep walking when he was stopped by Lyra
"Wait!" Lyra exclaimed.
"What?" Link said in a worried voice lie, something serious is happening right now.
"Would you... Like to hang out with us some more?" Lyra asked
"Oh yes, please. We have so much more to ask you." Bon Bon added.
Link thought of it for a moment and said "well... Okay." Then he smiled
Lyra and Bon Bon smiles were showing their teeth. They were now even more happy to have Link be with them for a little longer.
"So, were would you like to go right now?" Link asked
"Well, me and Bon Bon were planning of sitting in the park." Lyra answered.
"That sounds perfect."
The three walked over to the park, and found a nice, comfortable bench to sit and rests their butts on. They were a little silent for a little while, and haven't said anything for a little while. Finally, Bon Bon asked the hero "so, what kind of a name is Link?"
""I don't know." Link admitted. "But I think it's a rather cool name, don't you agree?"
"Oh yeah, I agree." Said Lyra.
"So do I." Bon Bon added."I think it's a beautiful name." Link smiled at her compliment.
Before Lyra could ask him a question this time. There was a distant yelling in the distance. "I like doubt you will get a cutie mark, blank flank." Said the voice. It sounded like a mean snobbish teen or little girl's voice.
The three looked over and saw a small little colt with a brown mane and tail, a pink earth filly with a tiara on her head, and another earth pony with glasses, a d a ponytail on her mane.
"Leave me alone Diamond Tiara." Said the colt.
"What's the matter?" Said the gray filly. "Can't handle the truth? Hahahahaha." The sight of that stunned Link, Lyra and Bon Bon. The three glared at the mean little fillies and Link got off the bench.
"Where you going, Link?" Asked Lyra curiously.
"To help a child in need." Link answered. He walked up to the two fillies with an angry face
"Blank flank! Blank Flank!" The fillies teased harshly.
"Hey!" Link exclaimed. The two turned around and noticed Link, looking at them angrily.
The two were a little frightened by Link's appearance, and have a good reason to be. "Like, what do you want?" The pink filly asked
"You two back off and leave the kid alone." Link sternly said.
"Who's going to make us?" the gray filly said sarcastically.
Link's face looked a little even more angry now. Then, he pulled out his sword at the two little girls, making them gasp with fear. "I will. Now, don't let me catching doing this again, or I will tell your parents on you." Link threatened softly. "Are we clear?"
The fillies nodded very nervously.
"Good, now get out of my sight." Link sternly said. Just like that, the two fillies ran away from him with a little fear in them. After that, Link put his !aster Sword away, and asked the colt "are you alright, kid"
"Yeah. Thanks, mister." The colt replied happily.
Link smiled to him "no problem." He replied. "So, what's your name?"
"My name is Pipsqueak, but you can just call me Pip." The colt replied
"Nice to meet you, Pip. So, who were those girls anyway, and... Why were they bullying you?" Link asked a little curiously.
"That was Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. They are the meanest ponies in town, and they were making fun of me because I don't have my cutie mark yet." Pip answered
"Oh well. Don't listen to them. You just have to ignore their type." Link said. "If they are picking on you again, come find me and I will help you, alright?"
"Okay. So, what's your name?" Pip asked
"Link. My name is Link."
"That's a very awesome name." The colt said. "Well, I might as well be heading back home. See you soon, Link. It was very nice to meet you." He then ran back home
"See you soon, Pip." Link said, waving at him. He looked back at Lyra and Bon Bon, and sat back on the bench with them.
"Wow, I'm proud of you, Link." Lyra said.
"Indeed, so am I." Bon Bon added. "You really have a good heart."
"Ah well, I just couldn't stand to see Pip getting picked on like that. It reminded me of a boy that was lie, a little brother to me named Colin. The other kids would pick on him because of his shyness, but I was always there for him when he needed me.
"Well, isn't that nice." Said Lyra.
It was silent again for a little moment, except for the birds singing and chirping randomly around the three as they were sitting.
"So, how often do you use that sword?" Asked Bon Bon
"Only in times of distress and in life or death situations." Link answered. "Would you like to see it?"
"Oh yes, please." Bon Bon replied.
Link unsheathed the master sword again, and showed it to Lyra and Bon Bon. The two gave many oohs and ahhhs seeing the beauty of the legendary master sword.
"Look at it. It's so beautiful." Lyra said in awe.
"It is so shiny." Bon Bon added.
"It's a cool blade isn't it." Link said
"Hm-mm." The two mares replied on a trance of awe. The hero then put the sword back in it's scabbard.
"Well. Would you like to play a game?" Bon Bon asked.
"Yeah I guess I can." Link said
"Ooh ooh. I'll go first." Sad Lyra with excitement. "I spy with my little eye, something that is.... Blue."
Meanwhile, captain Thunder Hoof and his small battalion of ten to twenty soldiers were in the badlands of Equestria, trying to investigate any suspicious activity under the orders of Celestia. So far, they found no trace of any changeling activity what so ever.
"Do you think we should keep looking captain?" Said one of the soldiers
"Yes, Clad Helmet." Said Thunder Hoof. "We have to, it's Celestia's orders."
It sounded like the other soldiers were uncertain and a little impatient about this since they have found no progress so far.
"We just have to keep digging for any clues." The captain added. Then they found a cave in a small canyon with a small green light glowing within it.
"I think that's evidence." Said a soldier named Sharp Tail.
"Follow me, men." The captain ordered, they all ran to the cave, and when they came in, the light completely vanished. They were all becoming a little scared, and worried that something will pop out of nowhere.
They heard a very evil laughter echoing in the cave. The shoulders were trembling with fear, and tried to stand their ground.
"Keep an eye out, men!" Thunder Hoof ordered. Then, a soldier right behind them, who was the one most afraid, felt something from behind him. He gave a loud "aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!" At the top of his lungs before he and the other soldiers were ambushed by an unknown entity.
