I'll Make You Smile

Hearts and Hooves day

Pinkie Pie was walking out of Sugarcube Corner one day with her usual happy for no reason mood. What made her happier is for the fact it was Hearts and Hooves Day and everypony was spending the day with their special somepony. Pinkie didn’t have a special somepony but that didn’t stop her from enjoying her day!

Pinkie said hey to Cheerilee and Big Mac, and Lyra and Bon Bon as she walked down the street of Ponyville. She was singing to herself before something caught her eye. She looked to her left and saw what looked like sad mare walking over to her house.

Pinkie didn’t get a good view of the mare so she became worried and started bouncing over to the sad mare and soon found out it was Twilight!

Twilight held her head down low and her main was slightly messy as she walked towards her library, she quickly noticed Pinkie and started to become annoyed.

“What do you want Pinkie?” Twilight groaned at her.

“Wh-what’s the matter Twilight? I haven’t seen you look this down in a long, long time!” Pinkie stopped hoping to see what was up with her best friend.

Twilight looked over at her. “I’m just upset okay? Is that okay? How do you always keep such a positive attitude? Especially on a day like today?!”

Pinkie walked back a little scared at her friend’s outburst. “W-well, I, I don’t know. I, I guess I just don’t let it get to me.” Tears were starting to form in the pink mare’s eyes.

Twilight ignoring the tears walked up to her. “Well I guess everypony can’t keep it off their minds as well as you can now can’t they?”

Pinkie not knowing what to say just sat there. The tears that began forming in her eyes eventually fell and washed over her cheek.

Twilight instantly felt bad and gave her pink friend a hug. “I’m sorry I yelled at you. It just bothers me that nopony in this town likes me. Ever since I moved over a year ago and I still have had no luck finding a special somepony.”

Pinkie smiled. “I guess I have caught up on too many friends to really take interest in finding a special somepony myself. I’m sorry Twilight, I wish there was something I can do for you.”

Twilight put her hoof on Pinkie’s cheek. “Thank you for trying to help Pinkie Pie. But I think I’m going to head back to my library and just try to get away from everypony. Thanks again for the support.”

Twilight pulled away from Pinkie. Something inside the pink mare didn’t want Twilight to go away, but to be with her instead. Her hoof on her cheek felt really nice. “O-okay Twilight! Bye, bye!” The pink mare waved back slowly as Twilight walked away.

Pinkie Pie started to think to herself. “Could she be mine? No, she’s not into me.” The pink mare sighed as she turned back around to walk back to Sugar cube Corner, her head hanging low.

“Maybe,” Pinkie Pie looked up and back around, she could still see Twilight almost going completely out of view. “Maybe Twilight needs somepony in her life, a special pony. A special somepony.”

Twilight walked into her library and got onto her couch. Spike walked out of the kitchen and over to her. He knew how hard Hearts and Hooves day was to her.

“Look on the bright side Twilight!” Spike said. “At least you have more time to yourself to study and write more letters to the Princess!”

Twilight looked up at him. “Thank you for trying to make me feel better Spike, but it isn’t fair! How come nopony likes me? I’m smart, elegant! Maybe not as beautiful as somepony like Rarity but still!” She shoved her face back into her hooves, crying again.

Spike rubbed her tired head. “Why don’t you just head up to bed, get this day over with. It’s only your second Hearts and Hooves day since you’ve been in Ponyville and maybe next year will be your year!”

Twilight hopped off the bed and hung her head low before walking over to the steps that lead up to her bedroom. “I doubt it Spike, I highly doubt it.”

Tears started to form in Spike’s eyes as he watched his best friend walk upstairs. He couldn’t do anything about her sad mood and it killed him inside. He walked into the kitchen and got him a glass of water before staring out the window at all the couples outside.

“What am I going to do?” Spike thought to himself as he finished his water and placed it in the sink.

Just then there was a couple knocks on the door. Confused as to why there was somepony visiting on Hearts and Hooves day, Spike ran out of the kitchen to answer the door.

He open the door and to his surprise, it was Pinkie Pie!

“Oh, hey Pinkie what’s up?” Spike looked slightly confused.

Pinkie now having a brighter mood than earlier, proceeded to walk in. “Oh just visiting an old friend.”

“You mean Twilight? You know she isn’t in the best of moods right now, I don’t think that’s a very good idea,” Spike closed the door and followed her over to the staircase that lead to Twilight’s room.

“Maybe, maybe not,” Pinkie said as she got on the first flat of stairs. “But I know how to make her smile, smile, smile.”

Spike grinned as he walked back into the kitchen. Spike now being away was the perfect time to Pinkie to enact her plan.

She walked into Twilight’s room to see her laying on the bed looking out the window. The day was almost over but to Twilight, it never seemed to end.

“Hey Twilight,” Pinkie said as she walked over to her
.
“Hey Pinkie,” Twilight said softly as she turned to look at her. Her mane looking worse than before. “I thought you’d be mad at me about my outburst earlier.”

Pinkie shook her head, her mane going everywhere. “Why would I be mad at you about that? You’re my best friend!” Pinkie giggled nervously as she walked over to Twilight who was still lying in her bed. “You still upset about today?”

“Yes,” Twilight said before she shoved her face into her pillow. “It’s just not fair!”

Pinkie bit her lip. “Let me make you smile Twilight.” Twilight looked up slightly confused before the next thing she knew, Pinkie was climbing into her bed and wrapped her hooves around her. She shoved her head into Twilight’s neck.

Twilight not knowing what to do just did the same, wrapped her hooves around Pinkie. “Does this feel nice?” Pinkie asked as she cuddled Twilight closer.

Twilight holding Pinkie tighter respond. “Yes, yes it does.” More tears began to form in her eye, but these weren’t tears of sadness. These were tears of joy, something that Twilight hasn’t experience sense Shining Armor’s wedding.

Pinkie rubbing Twilight’s lower back looked up at her. “You wanted a special somepony, so, I think it was time you got one.”

Hearing that made Twilight’s day even more. She looked down at Pinkie the best she could. “Pinkie Pie, I love you.”

Pinkie Pie smiled wider as she nuzzled Twilight’s neck. “I love you too, Twilight.”

Pinkie Pie pulled herself up so she was eye level with Twilight on her bed. She then leaned in and kissed her lips.

Twilight not knowing how to react, only closed her eyes as she kissed back. Twilight was rubbing the back of Pinkie Pie’s head as the kiss felt so nice against their lips.

After breaking the kiss, they both laid there staring at each other. “Pinkie Pie,” Twilight said. “Thanks for being my special somepony today.”

“You’re welcome Twilight. Oh, and not just today, every day.”

Hearing that brought more tears to Twilight’s eyes. She cuddled Pinkie closer, as she knew she never wanted to leave Pinkie’s side. This went from her worst day ever to her best day ever. Who would have known?
