The vampony of Manehatten High

by Fanged Rainbow

Not the best morning

I woke the next morning, not to my alarm, but to my mother yelling at me...

"Starlight Eclipse! Wake up this instant!"

"Gahh," I screamed in response. I never knew she could yell so loudly, or sound so bucking mad at me.

I was late, so I rushed out of bed and raced to get dressed, get my equipment and then I ran to school at supernatural speed. I'm amazed I wasn't caught going so fast, but I skidded to a halt as the bell went, sighing in relief. As I entered the school that same hunter - Rose stood outside my form room, that worried me but she didn't take notice, leaving me to the school routines.

As I entered the form room my tutor immediately turned on me! "Starlight, there you are, please head to the head mistress at once," what had I done wrong? Turns out, nothing! I was being asked to join one of our sports clubs! I was shocked and amazed at the same time, the head mistress wanted me to represent the school!

But there was a problem, I couldn't compete, It was too dangerous for me...

"Uhm... ,Miss Featherheart, I'm sorry to say I can't compete," I told her

"Why not?" she replied

"Because... I... Uhm... Have a physical condition..." I said, she didn't look pleased with my reply.

"What kind of condition?" she asked a concerned look on her face.

"Photo-dermatitis," I stated, it wasn't the truth, but not quite a lie either, it's a sunlight allergy and I'm allergic to the sun... kinda...
She sighed, she seemed to have realized her battle had been lost, I wasn't playing for the school... Something else caught her attention though, me!

"So how are you coming to school?" she asked me, her tone sounded aggressive suddenly.

"My clothes protect me, for the most part," I replied, mirroring her tone, something which apparently made her mad.

That got me a detention... my day was just getting worse...

After I made my way from the head mistress's office I began walking to English, I could feel I was being watched. I was. "Hey~" I heard a voice call. I turned to see the griffon returning, Soaring Skies. "Hey, I saw you leaving from the head's office! why?" I blanked him in an attempt to get to lesson, before I was late for that too. "Are you okay?"

"Leave me alone!" I hissed at him. That sent him flying back onto some other pupils. "Oops."

That caught that hunters attention as she walked by, staring at me in a suspicious looking tone. She also pulled out her weapon, a wooden stake! I cringed seeing it and galloped to my lesson.

"Starlight Eclipse? Where is, Starlight?" my teacher asked as I attempted to sneak into the room. "Ah, Starlight, there you are. Why are you so late?" he called to me. I wanted to just run after what I had done in the hallways.

"Sir, didn't your hear, she sent that griffon on top of, like ten ponies, innit?" a student called.

"Stop talking like that, you sound ridiculous" another stated, and added "However, he is right, she caused Soaring Skies to fall on ten ponies..."

"She schooled 'em!"

"Shut up, for Celestia's sake!"

I hoped this lesson would go better. I sat at my desk, a dusty wooden table with a metal top, and tools at the side. I looked at my work partner, It was that idiot that constantly used slang.

"So, girl."

"Shut up before I break your face," I spat at him, and he immediately fell silent. Best thing about being a vampony? Defiantly how people natural fear you when your angry!

"So today we will be making a basic lock," my teacher called, he hadn't even told us his name and he was bossing us about... we just had to refer to him as 'Sir'. I liked the subject of this lesson at least, I lock picked recreationally, remember? "It will be made from metals, and you must construct a key for it was well."

"Easy," my partner said, so I glared at him, shutting him up.

"You will gather your materials and work alone for this lesson, understood?"

"Yes sir," everypony said in unison, it was kinda creepy to me.

I made mine by taking our item to lock, in my case a chest, and screwing each piece of metal on it's front one on the top, one on the bottom. I used two small sheets to be precise. Then I used my partners magic to weld two more pieces, with round holes in them to each sheet. I made sure they were aligned perfectly. Then i made the 'key'. It was a copper cylinder, that was it.

"Sir!" I called, my teacher responded by coming to see my work.

"Hmm... yes, that's interesting, nicely fitted... What about the key?" my teacher said.

"It's that copper rod," I replied , pointing to the copper cylinder that stuck through the two holes, locking my box. It stuck out slightly at each end too.

"Hmm... not the most secure, but it keeps it shut," my teacher stated "Nicely done, room to improve but nicely done."

"What about mine sir?" my partner asked, his wasn't bad, could be better though, it was poorly cut and it looked... inappropriate to be in public.
however it functioned, it used bolt technology, however he made the bolt a... I'm not even going to say...

The bell went, but we kept working due to it being a double lesson.

What we didn't expect to hear, was a scream...
