The vampony of Manehatten High

by Fanged Rainbow

My first day

"Ring Ring Ring!"

Oh how I hated that alarm clock, It was six thirty in the morning, who the hell wakes up this early anyway?

I got up, and rolled out of bed, yawning, I hated being up during the day anyway, but now I had to go to school. I brushed my mess of a mane into something more appropriate, it actually looked like DJ-Pon3's I loved her music. After brushing my mane and tail I sat back on my bed and looked around my new room, it was empty of anything pretty much, only card boxes my bed and one poster of the fabled DJ I loved so.

"Starlight! Come and get your breakfast!" I heard my mother call.

"Mom! I'm still dressing!" I called back, and it wasn't a lie. I quietly put on a pair of blue jeans and my white vest, along with a navy blue hoodie.

"Starlight!" mother called again... I hate when she wakes me up like this...

I walked down stairs to see my mother as graceful as she could be, she was my polar opposite, her long elegant mane, and fine dress she wore were certainly something I would refuse to wear... even at a prom. There was another distance between us to, I'm a vampony.

Breakfast was enjoyable to say the least, I had a bottle full of blood as a drink and some pancakes, with more blood on top. My mother wasn't a vampony like me, but she knew about it and didn't seem to care. Breakfast was, as it always is short and quiet, not much ever happened, literally nothing but eating.

Then came when I had to step into the sun, luckily my clothes protected me, my black tail hid under my hoodies, along with my coat. As I reached the school at long last I stared at it, it was pathetic looking. "Yuck," I commented seeing the brightly coloured building flashing before my sensitive blood red eyes. Speaking of blood, there was a distinctive smell of it, I loved the smell, yet feared it just the same...

Killing on my first day was not going to leave me with a positive start to my first year.

Inside was much more to my taste, it was plainer and had a darkish feel to it, it was still light, but not overly bright and colourful. but still that smell of blood, it was fresh I noticed as the stallion who reeked of it walked by, escorted by a teacher I presumed. He had been cut badly, a large gash tearing down his left front leg.

Further down the hall I spotted a griffon. It was huge compared to the ponies that made up the majority of the pupils at the school. As I got closer I noticed he was a guy, kind of good looking too, for a griffon that is, don't exactly plan a relationship with one.

"Oh hi!" he said loudly.

"Uhm.. hi?" I replied, I hadn't been able to walk by when he had started.

"I'm Soaring Skies" the griffon continued happily "Hey cool eyes, blood red."

I blushed at that it wasn't even sweet, I just blushed. He got distracted however so I got away from him. I wandered the school for awhile, not much else of interest was there too see, so I hurried over the form.

Form was boring as ever... just names and names and names! Seriously! It went quickly luckily, and without hassle.

The first lesson was better, and I actually paid enough attention to write about it now.

"Hello Everypony, I'm Miss Delight," the teacher pronounced calmly, only for someone to ask a very stupid question.

"Miss, are you that stereotypical crazy teacher in every TV show in Equestria that's set in a school?"

"What?" the teacher replied slightly angry. That made me chuckle slightly, but not loud enough for the teacher to hear, not that it really mattered as she and the student that called her crazy began bickering.

I took the opportunity to observe my class, and one of the students worried me. She had a white coat and sleek navy blue mane that matched my hoodie, with a wooden stake as her cutie mark... She was a hunter!

I eyed her up, she looked strong, her muscles were refined, yet still feminine. She was also eyeing me up too it seemed, she took most notice in my own eyes by the look of her.

After the first lesson I went to the library, it was a free hour for the first day... I picked out a book on Science, specifically blood, it was my favorite subject, and you can probably imagine why. The same mare from first lesson was also here, she picked out a book on mythology and sat right next to me.

"Hi, I'm, Rose Red, whats your name?" she asked me calmly.

"Starlight Eclipse," I replied, trying to not sound nervous as I read my book. I peeked a look at what page she was on, it was one about vamponies and their weaknesses, as well as how to spot one. She kept glancing at me every now and then... It was unsettling.

"What you reading?" she asked me.

"Biology book," I replied again "You?"

"Mythology, there's a cool page in here about vamponies, you look like you would like them."

That sentence made me shiver, and I was glad she hadn't noticed. As she kept reading I went and got the book so I could read it later, before siting back in my chair and taking a lock-box out from my bag, along with a small, blunt knife. Rose took notice in that.

"Whats that?" She asked me inquisitively.

"My fathers lock-box, he challenged me to open it before he joined the army, its my last memory of him," I replied.

"Ahh," she commented... is that the right word? commented?

Anyway... she took notice as I began observing the lock in its current state, it looked practically untouched, besides its shiny, silver gleam, I regularly cleaned it. It was a traditional key lock, easy enough.

As I began picking it a teacher walked past and noticed what I was doing... he asked me what I was doing too... I gave him the same reply as Rose, while I continued attempting to open the lock... I did it recreationally at home almost all the time.

I then had a double biology on blood, and was getting perfect answers according to the teacher, Mrs Hearts

Then there was PE, luckily for me I had a note that meant I didn't have to do it! But I still had to wait in the shade for an hour before I could go home...
