Shooting Star and Moon Wave's wedding was approaching. Shining, seeing that moment coming, asked Cadance if she would want to come. She was at first apprehensive because she knew it was a family event, but Shining replied that she almost belonged to the family. Touched by his words, Cadance accepted Shining's invitation with great joy, which also left him quite cheerful.
When his uncle's wedding day arrived, Shining donned his tuxedo and when he was over, he prepared himself to go out and get Cadance.
"Where are you going, Shining?" Twilight asked, when Shining opened the door, already dressed in her purple dress.
"I'm going to get Cadance" Shining replied. "When we get back, we go to the wedding."
"Oooh, you're going to get Cadance" Twilight said in a cynical tone.
"Don't start, okay?" Shining asked.
"Okay, but remember that is Uncle Shooting's wedding" Twilight said, laughing.
Shining rolled his eyes and then left, heading to the castle. He arrived there and got to Cadance's room, knocking at the door. It was opened and Cadance appeared, wearing a sky-blue dress with a white belt, her mane loose and flowing and the blue lily gently placed behind her right ear.
"Well, you look beautiful as always" Shining said.
"You have nothing more to say than that?" Cadance asked with a smile.
"It's a little difficult to find more words to describe you" Shining replied. "I think none of them do you justice."
Cadance laughed and said:
"You're a gentlecolt."
"I'm just saying what I truly think."
He held out a hoof and she accepted it. The two then left the castle and went to Shining's home where Night Light, Velvet and Twilight were awaiting them. Once they arrived, they began to move towards the train station. When they arrived, they found Blue, who had also been invited to the wedding, waiting for them. His family was also invitede, but Dahlia had plans with her coltfriend and his parents have a lot of work to do in the castle and in the restaurant. They boarded the train and then he took off. They headed to a property in Unicorn Range belonging to bride's family.
When they got there, they saw how everything was being prepared. Unicorn employees put up the decorations, set up the rows of chairs and prepared the altar. Coordinating that was Shooting Star, accompanied by his future parents-in-laws and also by Starlight. When he saw his brother, his sister-in-law, his nephew, his niece and their friends, he and his mother ran up to greet them.
"I'm glad you have came" Shooting Star said.
"How could not we come?" Night Light asked. "After all, I'm the colt of honor."
"This is still something I still can not believe" Starlight said, with a small tear in the corner of the eye. "My two sons will soon both be married."
" Oh, mom, you'll continue to be our favorite mare" Shooting said.
"You can believe in that" Night Light said
"Thank you, my sons" she thanked, wiping her eyes.
Shooting then turned to Twilight and said:
"Twilight, you know what? Moon Wave said you could be one of the flower fillies."
"Really?" she asked excitedly.
"You bet" the uncle replied.
"But that is awesome!" she exclaimed, taking a big leap.
"Come with me, my dear" Starlight said. "I'll take you to the other flower fillies."
And Twilight followed her grandmother.
"And you, my nephew, I see you brought Cadance" Shooting noted, turning to Cadance. "It's an honor to have you here, Cadance."
"The honor is all mine" she said. "But it was Shining who invited me."
"But of course" Shining said. "How could I come without you?"
"And, Blue..." Shooting said, turning to him. "And what about your family?"
"They could not come, unfortunately".
"It's okay" Shooting said. "At least you could make it. Well, I guess it's better I get going. Much remains to prepare and we have very few hours left to the wedding."
"I'll give you a hoof, Shooting" Night Light said.
"And me too" Velvet said.
And the three turned away.
"And I'll take a walk around" Blue said to Shining and Cadance. "I may be able to find some lovely filly."
And walked away with Shining and Cadance giving chuckles.
"It seems that only left us" Cadance said.
"What if we go for a walk around the property?" Shining asked.
"It seems perfect to me" his marefriend replied.
The two then took a walk around the neighborhood, courting while doing it.
After that, they returned to where the wedding was to take place and took their seats in the front row of the groom's side. Shining was one place away to his mother and she was in her turn next to Starlight, who took the place of the tip. The vacant place was, of course, Twilight's. Cadance was sitting beside Shining and Blue soon arrived, sitting beside Cadance.
"So how was your search?" Shining asked to Blue.
"Not so bad" he said. "The fillies of this party are very pretty. Your uncle chose very well your future aunt."
That made Shining laugh and then he turned to the front. Night Light was doing his role as colt of honor and was beside Shooting that seemed a little nervous. On the top of the altar, was the justice of the peace who would preside over the ceremony. Shining then looked at the bride's side and saw in the front row her mother, who had prepared the handkerchief already, and sisters.
Then he began to hear the music of the wedding march and everypony turned around, standing up. Then they saw the bride arriving, accompanied by her father. Ahead came the flower fillies, where among them was Twilight, and behind came the bridesmaids. The bride looked beautiful in her white dress. Moon Wave was a unicorn mare with a silver coat and a yale blue mane.
Shining then noticed that when Shooting Star saw Moon Wave approaching, he was filled with joy. The young unicorn noticed his uncle had the same look he had when he met Cadance: the same look of wonder.
Twilight and the other flower fillies arrived at the end of the road and went to their seats. Twilight then sat in the vacant place. Moon Wave reached the altar and his father gave her to Shooting Star and the two turned to the front, while the bridesmaids held their places next to the bride and the guests sat.
"Fillies and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Shooting Star with Moon Wave" the justice of the peace said.
As he spoke, Shining couldn't resist of looking at his beautiful marefriend. Cadance also looked at him. The two exchanged intense gazes and smiles for a long moment and then Shining held the Cadance's hoof, what made her rose more her smile, blushing slightly. Then the two turned to the front to continue to attend the wedding.
Then, everypony heard the bride and the groom exchange their vows and then the justice of the peace said:
"Do you, Shooting Star, take Moon Wave to be your lawful wedded wife, in sickness and in health, til death do you part?"
"Yes, I do" he replied, making Moon Wave smile openly.
The justice of the peace turned then to Moon Wave and recited:
"And do you, Moon Wave, take Shooting Star to be your lawful wedded husband, in sickness and in health, til death do you part?"
"I do" she replied.
"Then by the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you mare and colt" the justice of the peace proclaimed.
Night Light then used his magic to bring a velvet cushion on which there were two rings of horn. Shooting Star used his magic to get in the ring it would be for Moon Wave and placed it on her horn and she did the same.
"You may kiss the bride" the justice of the peace proclaimed to Shooting.
Shooting Star smiled and then he kissed his new wife and she returned it. Everypony stood up and started clapping. After this, it came the wedding reception, with a table full of the most delicious food and even a dance floor. The bride and the groom, as usual, were those who started the dance, both dancing well together, happy to be married now. Gradually, several other couples joined the newlyweds on the dance floor, including Night Light and Velvet.
"Blue, do you want to dance with me?" Twilight asked to Blue.
"Twilight, honestly, I..." Blue started, because he wanted to dance with the fillies he had known, but then Twilight began to make her sad gaze that made Blue sigh and respond. "Okay, I dance with you. But just one dance."
"Yheee" she exclaimed.
And the two went dancing. Shining, not wanting to be left out, asked to Cadance:
"Do you want to dance with me, princess?"
Cadance smiled and replied:
"But of course, my knight in shining armor."
The two then went to the dance floor and started dancing well together. As they danced, Shining asked:
"So what did you think about the wedding?"
"It was wonderful" she sighed. "Weddings always make me happy. It's a new beginning for the couple, the beginning of a life together."
There was a pause and then Cadance continued:
"But do you know what?"
"What?"
"When I was watching your uncle and your new aunt marrying, I couldn't stop imagining myself in her place, dressed in the most beautiful wedding dress, walking down the aisle in what will surely be the happiest day of my life, where there is a stallion waiting for me, the stallion who will make me happy for life."
"Yeah?" Shining asked, playful. "And may I ask you who will be the lucky stallion that will have such an honor?"
Cadance made a false thoughtfully air and then answered:
"What if I showed you?"
"For me, it's all right."
Cadance then pulled Shining into a deep, passionate kiss, which he returned. The two separated themselves and looked at each other's eyes, smiling. Then, they stayed there, dancing, certain they would be in a marriage soon, but not as spectators, but as the lucky couple.
