After nearly two weeks lying in a hosptial bed storm was finaly released from there and he couldnt have been happier. He left with a spring in his step and followed twilight back to the library talking about everything under the sun along the way. The two of them were so engrosed in a converstaion about the princesses, twilight focusing on celestia and storm on luna, that they almost ran headlong into the front door. With a nervous chuckle twilight finally managed to get the door open and let themselves in only to be greeted by a loud "surprise" that nearly knocked the two of them off their feet. As it turns out pinkie pie had a party waiting for them to get home and everyone was there even the princesses. As is to be expected the library was decorated with streamers and even a large banner that said "Happy Realeased From The Hospital Day Storm". Storm laughed warmly a deep pleasant laugh that got everyone laughing as well.
"Wow thanks guys i dont know what to say I didnt think you would miss me this much." Storm said smileing at his freinds.
"Why of course we missed ya sugar cube" applejack said coming forward and huggin him warmly followed by everyone else directly after. The last one was Luna and as she came forward her horn lit up and a rather large package appeared inbetween her and storm. Earning her a confused look from said dragon before he pulled her into a tight embrace before turning to the large packinge with curiosity.
"So do you plan on telling me whats inside here" storm said as he tried to lift the large bag to have it come off the ground with no effort.
"No i wont that would defeat the purpose of it being a gift you fool." Luna said laughing lightly at storms confused face as he placed the bag back on the ground and looked at her questioningly.
"You didn't have to get me anything its not like its my birthday or anything" storm said releasing the princess to stare at the bag in confusion.
"No its not for your birthday this gift is rather practical and to commemorate your joining my lunar guard. So are you going to open it or are you going to keep everpony waiting?" Luna said motioning to everyone else in the room who were looking at the bag in confusion same as storm. Shrugging his shoulders storm grabbed the bag and pulled it open to have multiple pieces of metal clatter to the floor. Causing everyone save luna to jump in surprise at the loud noise and then stare at the odd assortment of metal on the floor before them. When no one made a move to pick up the pieces luna shook her head and laughed as her horn and the metal lit up the color of her aura. Then they floated towards a stunned storm and began to cover him until all that could be seen was his eyes peeking out from under a helmet atop his head. Then Luna's horn lit up again but this time a mirror was brought in front of storm who gasped at his reflection. From head to toe and the tip of his tail storm was encased in a dark blue armor that matched Luna's coat with her cutie mark on his chest and a small white dash on his right shoulder. Storm began to stir a little under the armor and began to move and the armor weighed next to nothing and hampered him very little. He even went so far as to stretch his wings to find they too had something on them but it was almost like it wasn't their with how light it was. Storm turned to thank Luna but she wasn't next to him anymore but on one of the large couches talking with her sister. When she saw storm looking at her she gave him a warm smile before returning her attention to her sister. The party lasted throughout the day and well into the night until, slowly everyone said their goodbyes until it was just Luna, storm, and twilight in the library. Siting on one of the couches just enjoying each others company, talking quietly until Luna looked to the clock and let out a disappointed sigh and stood.
"Sadly it is time I leave" she said before heading to the door and stopping to look at storm. "I almost forgot tomorrow night you start your duty's as captain of the guard. You will report to the courtyard in full armor at dusk for you're orders." Luna said before stepping out the door and teleporting to the balcony outside her room where she patiently awaited the rising of the sun so she could lower her moon and rest. Meanwhile storm and twilight cleaned the library shortly there after twilight went to bed and storm went outside for a quick flight to clear his head. All throughout the party storms thoughts kept wondering towards Luna, his feelings for her, how did chrysalis know about it, and what was he going to do about it. Storm let out a exasperated sigh as he took to the skys and tried to clear his mind and revel in the beauty of the night. But it only reminded him of Luna it was her that created each and every night after all, making it beautiful much like herself a treasure very few ever get to see. With a heavy sigh storm closed his eyes and let the wind carry him wherever it may and blow his mind clear as he glided across the night sky. After a sort while storm opened his eyes with a start for before him was canterlot looming in front of him so inviting but the last place storm wanted to be tonight.
"How would I ever tell her how I feel" storm sighed looking at the castle before veering off and landing on a cliff a ways off. As Luna let her magic build she watched over her little ponies as they slept. Its true that Luna loved her subjects just as much as her sister but she rarely got to see or speak to them. So she watched and protected them the only way she could, by keeping their nights and dreams as peaceful as possible. It was as she was watching over the realm of dreams that Luna found a familiar mind but it was heavily troubled and burdened, and it seemed to be getting closer. And just as she pondered what burdened this poor soul she saw a familiar glint of moonlight off of scales. As a figure was outlined against the moon first heading towards canterlot before veering of to the mountains outside the castle walls. She caught a small fragment of its thought's before she realized it was storm. "How would I ever tell her how I feel" Luna pondered the meaning of these words as she took off after her scaled friend determined to set his mind at ease. And as she drew closer she could here storm moving about talking to himself his voice dripping with frustration. When she landed Luna stayed back for a while hopeing to catch a bit of information that may help her put storms mind at ease. As she waited her patience payed off when storm let out an exasperated sigh and sat down on the edge cliff right in front of where Luna was hiding.
"How exactly am I supposed to tell Luna I love her and what if she doesn't feel the same about me?" storm questioned out loud causing Luna to let out a startled gasp. "He loves me how can he love me he hardly knows me?" Luna thought to herself,she knew she had feelings for him as well though she was afraid to act on them. For what if he returned to his old ways the way he was in his world. How would she deal with that having to destroy something she loved? But with each passing day as Luna watched storm was always kind and now she understood the pain of his past life. Granted she still loathed his actions there, but something like that could never happen to him here so. Deciding to through caution to the wind Luna stepped from the shadows and sat next to storm who stiffened and almost ran before he realized it was Luna.
"How long have you been there?" he croaked leaving his face in his hands and glancing at Luna out of the corner of his eyes. Luna gently placed a hoof under storms chin and lifted his head until he was looking her in the eye.
"I have been here long enough to know how to put your mind at ease." Luna said before leaning forward and capturing storms lips in a soft passionate kiss. Storm cringed at first but slowly began to relax and melt into the kiss until the two had to separate for air. Storm stared at Luna confused with a goofy grin and Luna looked away a dark blush visible beneath her coat.
"How long have you known you love me?" Luna asked still blushing profusely but facing storm now.
"Ever since the battle with the changelings, I've had feelings for you but wasn't sure of them until after I had to face chrysalis. And what about you, how long have you felt this way and didn't tell me?" Storm said eyeing Luna carefully trying to gauge her reaction. Again Luna blushed even more though she still faced storm determined to see his reaction.
"I've had feelings for you since shortly after we met. You have been nothing but kind to me and everpony else, but you are also willing to defend us even though you've only known us a month at the most. Two great quality's rarely found in a stallion... or dragon in this day and age." Luna said matter of factly watching storm break out into a goofy grin before he grabbed her and pulled her into a tight hug. The two spent most of the night like this contentedly leaning against each other until the hour grew late and Luna had to leave. As she did storm remembered something he was supposed to ask her and jumped up exclaiming.
"Luna wait I forgot their is something I need to ask you."
"And what would you ask of me my love?" Luna said smiling at the blush that colored storms scales at her use of my love. Storm took a deep breath to gather his nerves and slow his racing heart before he spoke.
"through out my study's with twilight the topic of the mare in the moon continuously came up but she refused to speak of it. Saying it was something I needed to ask you. please what is the mare in the moon?" As storm watched it seemed that all the life left Luna's body. As she sighed and took her seat once more motioning for storm to do the same.
"That is a long hard story upon which you may not look at me the same ever again. So are you sure you want to hear this?" Luna asked calmly getting a nod from storm saying he wanted to hear it. And Luna shared the story of the mare in the moon and nightmare moon and what she almost did. Upon finishing she expected to find storm gone but he was still beside her looking at her questioningly earning a raised eyebrow from the princess.
"What you did yesterday doesn't matter to me Luna. I judge based on what you do today and what we try to accomplish tomorrow." Storm said before wraping her in his wings and hugging her close. When storm released her the two said their goodbyes and went their separate ways home. Completely unaware that a certain queen had seen the entire exchange from a cloud over head, and a nasty plan was building in her mind. As to how she would use storms and Luna's love for each other against them. She took off from the cloud cackling like a hyena heading home to put her plan in motion.
