The morning sun warmed the ground as Derpy took her daughter Dinky to school. As soon as she made sure Dinky got to school safe it was off to start her mail route. The sun warmed her feathers as she stretched. She arrived right on time as her boss began giving out mail and directing the mail ponies. Her route would take her past Pinkie Pie's party meadow. She loved hearing Pinkie, because Pinkie's laughter was contagious.
Her mail route started as normal. She would always end up destroying some poor pony's property. She got constantly yelled at but it was all worth it if she just heard Pinkie laugh. She arrived at the field and saw a pink pony hopping and picking flowers for her friends. And also to decorate her cakes. Derpy opened her bag and pulled out her favorite treat. She sat on the puffy cloud and ate her muffin. Suddenly and without warning she...

Twilight Sparkle was out about town getting some important ingredients when she heard screaming. She looked up and saw a black stallion hauling a body. He was rushing towards Pony General Hospital. Twilight saw Pinkie looking distressed racing after the stallion. The screaming was coming from the grey pegasus on the stallion's back. Blood was running down the pegasus' forehead.
Twilight followed Pinkie into the hospital. The nurse had immediately checked the grey pegasus in. Twilight and Pinkie followed her into the room where the very familiar Pegasus lay.
The nurse spoke "what's going on?"
Pinkie panicked and blurted out a sea of words. The nurse looked confused. Twilight was trying to comprehend it as well. But she had gotten most of the words. "She says that Derpy fell on her and just started screaming and slamming her hoof against her head." At this Derpy began punching her forehead sobbing "mommy make the pain stop. Mommy make it stop!"
The nurse looked over at Twilight. She went over to a cupboard and pulled out some rope. She spoke quietly "Twilight help me bind her to the bed."
Twilight gasped and looked uncertain. She gulped saying "what! How dare you."
The nurse closed her eyes saying "it's the only way to keep her from hurting herself. Now help me or leave." Twilight grabbed some rope, bound the wings and left side of Derpy. She then went over to Pinkie.
Pinkie sat there staring intently at Derpy. Twilight put her foreleg around her friend. She spoke quietly "don't worry Pinkie. I'll help her. Now where's her mailbag?" Pinkie's eyes were watering and she was attempting not to cry. She spoke "it's in the party field. I asked Sturdy Running to help Sunflower pick it up. His brother Shadow Runner brought her here. The screaming was horrible."

The noon sun shimmered in the sky. Everypony was out and about. Very few noticed the grey stallion with one gold eye and one eye covered by a strip of cloth that was blacker than night. He was grizzled and his mane was like a skunk, both black and white. On his flank was a sinister looking mark. He also had scars on his hide.
He looked around his horn glowed red and the door behind him closed. His landlady was out so he was quite alone. He wandered around. Due to his blind side he bumped into a tree. Several apples dropped he caught them with his magic instinctively. A voice spoke "watch where you're goin old timer. Don't want to have to take you to the hospitals." He turned to see a tan mare with a hat over her eyes lazily sitting with a piece of wheatgrass in her mouth. The only unique thing about her was her hat and the cutie mark on her flank. He looked at the girl and her three apples cutie mark then smirked and walked off.
He entered a boutique where a white mare with three gems on her flank was piecing a suit together. He smiled and spoke "Rarity my dear I am here for my suit." This caused the white mare to jump. She growled "well don't just stand there getting my nice clean floor all filthy and help me pick this mess up." He looked around and said "what mess?" Rarity looked around thinking she had dropped all the fabric she was working with and saw a red glow surrounding what she was working on.
She sighed dramatically.

In the hospital Derpy was still struggling against her bindings. The nurse was scanning her for any abnormalities. She sighed looking at the writhing pegasus. Nothing was wrong. No abnormalities. She tried wiping the blood off but as she got near one of the ropes broke. And the pegasus began striking her head and accidentally striking the nurse. The nurse struggled to see straight and tied the hoof down again. She saw two Twilights walk in. She spoke wearily "I can't find anything wrong with her. Maybe your magical ability may find something so I'll leave you two alone.
Twilight scanned the still writhing pegasus. Nothing showed up. She heard whimpering coming from the corner. She saw Pinkie Pie looking downtrodden. Her hair had gone from happy frizzy to depressed flat. Her bright complexion had darkened and she had tears running down her beautiful face. Twilight sniffed the air learning that her friend was in heat. She gulped and said "Pinkie,why don't you go for a walk you have been here all day. The cool wind may clear your head." Pinkie nodded weakly and shuffled out no longer her bouncy self.

Outside the midday air was chill. The sun was just beginning to set. A pony with electric blue hair was walking getting some supplies. She first went into Rose Luck's floral shop to buy a special flower for her special somepony. She then walked to Bon Bon's Dulce Extraordinaire for some candy. She smiled slyly and went over to Fluttershy's home. She entered and saw the object she desired to use. She saw the pastel pink haired pegasus sitting with a carrot down in her nether regions whimpering. She cried out in ecstasy the mare she was thinking of. Which just happened to be the mare that had come into her home.
She looked up at the slack jawed pony in front of her and blushed deeply "I didn't expect you so soon Vinyl. Sorry you had to see that." Vinyl Scratch shook the image she had just witnessed from her head. The spoke "nothing to be ashamed of. Though I, personally, thought you had the hots for Big McIntosh. Didn't think you were one of us mare for a mare types. Anyways, I need to borrow big stallion Octavia is coming over tonight and I thought I'd make her night one she won't forget anytime soon."
Fluttershy smiled weakly and got down the very large box. She whispered quietly "here you go Vinyl. Just please don't tell anypony what you saw." Vinyl smirked and walked out purposely flaunting her flank. She then went back to her home. She placed the flowers in a vase and then placed the candy next to the vase. She placed the massive box under the table. She walked out and went to Berry Punch's wine store. Berry, as usual, was intoxicated.
Berry smiled and said "Vinyl dear! That special blend you ordered came in today."
Vinyl placed the bits on the counter and said "here you go Berry. Thanks! And I just want to invite you to my little get together with Octavia. Celestia knows we could have extra fun with more. Spice it up a little." She then winked at this and walked out saying "eight o'clock if you're interested."
Vinyl closed the door and saw a very dejected Pinkie Pie. She walked over and butt bumped her saying "hey hot flank what's up." Pinkie mumbled something incomprehensible. "No offense girl, but you look terrible. Why don't you come to my party with Octavia. For at least a few minutes. We sure could use somepony to hold the camera." This brightened Pinkie's day a bit. She did not wish to celebrate with her friend in the hospital. But she also couldn't turn down a party.

Twilight was in the hospital writing a letter to Celestia. She was begging for help with Derpy's mysterious ailment. She couldn't bear to see a pony.. no... A friend in pain.
She walked out and went to the library and had Spike send it. Then she hurried back to the hospital. She was really worried the doctors had no way of calming her so Twilight decided to lay next to the mare and calmly licked the blood. This had quite the opposite effect than she planned. Derpy was now sleeping soundly her head resting against the purple mare. The whimpering had subsided. She sighed and looked out the window at the sun set.

The grizzled grey stallion was walking contemplatively. His one eye wandering the small town. He heard a frantic yelling and saw a tiny filly running up and down the street. She finally ran into him in her frantic search. He looked down at the small unicorn. He quietly spoke "what's wrong small one?"
The filly cried "momma is gone she's not home! Where's my momma?"
The stallion used his horn and lifted the filly up to face level. He spoke “who are you?” the filly whimpered and said “I’m Dinky sir. My momma went out to do her mail job and she’s not back yet. Where’s my momma?”
The stallion smiled and said “well small one how would you like some food. I have a few bits so we can go to the sandwich shop and you can get some food. How does that sound.”
He turned and was face to face with a pink mare she was shaking uncontrollably he could smell the booze on her breath. She started giggling then immediately crying followed by hiccups. He knew instinctively that the little filly he was now putting on his back was about to hear bad news. He smiled and spoke to the little filly “well Dinky, was it? Dinky your mother is in the hospital she’s fine so would you like that sandwich now?”
Little Dinky squeaked “yes sir, food sounds good.”
The two walked into the small cafe as the sun set. He bought her a small sandwich and she ate it on his back as he walked out into the night. the moon had yet to rise.

Twilight was pacing frantically in the small room. Pinkie and Vinyl Scratch were standing there watching Twilight pace back and forth. Pinkie was unconsciously following the movement so her eyes were twitching back and forth hypnotically.
“Why hasn’t the princess responded yet.” Twilight cried exasperated.
The nurse said “I’m sure she has a reason for being late. You need to rest. why don’t you lay next to her she was calm while you were there.”
Twilight obliged and sat near the mare and tried her best to sooth the pain of the writhing pegasus.

The grey stallion looked up in the sky as a large carriage descended in the moonlight. Out of the carriage stepped a black mare with both wings and a horn. Her mane was shimmering purple in the moon. He recognized her as Luna sister to Celestia. He followed the night guard as they escorted their princess to the hospital.

Twilight gasped and bowed as Luna walked into the room. Luna looked at her and spoke melodically “no need for that Ms. Sparkle... I mean Twilight.” She walked over to the bed and the nurse and Twilight pushed another bed closer so That Luna wouldn’t have to squeeze onto the same bed as the writhing pegasus. Luna carefully licked the wound calming the young mare nurse untied Derpy’s bindings.
Derpy looked up at the alicorn and whimpered “mommy it hurts so much.”
Luna looked down at Derpy and smiled saying “mommy’s here darling. Momma’s got you.”
The nurse gasped and Twilight spoke nervously “what’s going on?”
The nurse looked forlorn and said “Derpy’s dying, that’s the only reason a princess would come and say that.”
Luna’s musical voice range out “Do not fear dear Twilight your friend is not dying I am her mother.”
Everypony in the room screamed “what!”
Luna responded smiling as if she remembered something. She looked at the small crew in the room and began to nuzzle Derpy. They all looked as her forehead bumped up and a horn formed. It was the most beautiful horn they had ever seen.
Luna smiled again and said “yes my beautiful daughter borne from a forbidden tryst. a tryst I welcomed.”
a dark yet soft and pleasant voice rose from the shadows. “So this is my daughter she is truly magnificent.”
Everypony turned to see the grizzled grey stallion with one eye sitting there. He looked around and said “I am sure you all are wondering why would a princess fall for somepony like myself. Well the story starts with a war.” with this his horn glowed red and everypony was enveloped in the red glow.
