The Inner Workings of a Wedding

Rarity scurried around Carousel Boutique, waiting for her next client to arrive. It had been a long day of dress fittings, stitch-ripping and resewing. She had had a particularly rough time with a very picky six year old, who demanded her dress be a rainbow that excluded orange for whatever reason.

She only had one fitting left, and she was beyond excited. As she heard the doorbell ring and someone step inside, she raced to the door to usher Twilight Sparkle inside.

“I’m not too late am I?” she asked, taking off her coat. It was February, which meant the weather was just starting to get warm. Normally, Rarity would hate to do all her fittings so far out, but with famous musician and longtime-childhood friend of Applejack’s Rara going on tour for three months just before the wedding, it was her only option.

“Not at all darling, in fact you’re ten minutes earlier than the time we scheduled.” Rarity took Twilight’s coat from her and hung it up on the wall. She pointed to the clock, showing her the time.

“Oh! I can wait a few minutes if you’re busy!”

“Not at all. Fluttershy left an hour ago. Right this way,” She led Twilight to the fitting rooms where she had Twilight’s dress up on a rack. It wasn’t finished, but it was enough of the way done for Twilight to try it on and get a feel for how it would look.

“Rarity, it’s beautiful!” Twilight gasped as she laid eyes on the dress. Rarity smiled.

“Go ahead and try it on darling.” Rarity took it down off the rack and ushered Twilight into the nearest dressing room, going about the shop and tidying up while she waited for Twilight to change.

She spun around upon hearing the curtain open, Twilight stepping out dressed in a beautiful gown. It looked like something out of a fairytale, so far removed from any wedding stereotype that it was perfectly Twilight.

Twilight made her way over to the mirror, gasping as she caught a glimpse of herself. She looked beautiful, her dress was everything she had ever dreamed of.

“Oh Rarity! You’ve really outdone yourself!” Just the sight of herself wearing the dress he would soon get married to Sunset in brought tears to her eyes.

“I was so happy when you wanted something so different, I’ve never made a dress quite like this. It surely is gorgeous.” Rarity nodded her head, watching Twilight go through all the emotions as she admired herself from every angle.

“Thank you, Rarity. Really. I never imagined I would look this good on my wedding day.” Twilight spun in a circle, admiring how her dress flowed out and around herself.

“Does it fit okay? I still have a few little details to add, but I wanted to make sure it fit you the way you want it too,” Rarity said. Twilight nodded.

“No, it fits great. I really love it. It hugs just the right curves.” She smiled, the same smile she always did when Sunset was around or she was thinking about Sunset. Rarity couldn’t help but pull out her phone and snap a picture, just this once. She wanted to remember how happy Twilight was when she first tried on her dress. She couldn’t wait to see Sunset wearing her’s the next day.

Twilight left the boutique that day with a huge smile on her face and a pair of the most expensive shoes Carousel Boutique sold. Rarity had refused to accept her payment for the dress, but Twilight couldn’t help but want to give her payment for her work. She had plenty of cash to spare now that she had finally landed a high-paying job working in a lab in downtown LA, where she was starting to research for a project she had wanted to work on for years now. The shoes were tacky, but Twilight couldn’t find it in herself to care she was so happy.

Sunset walked along the dock of Camp Everfree with Gloriosa Daisy.

“Are you sure Timber’s okay with this?” she asked, looking out at the still lake.

“Oh of course he is! I tonly took him a little while to get over Twilight and stop planning your murder, he’s great now. If you don’t want him to, he won’t even be at the wedding.”

Sunset’s eyes widened at the possibility that her fiancee’s ex had been planning her murder for a period of time. She shrugged it off, hoping Gloriosa was just exaggerating.

“I’m sure Twilight would be okay with him coming, but he doesn’t have too.” Sunset pursed her lips.

“So, you said you wanted a piano,” Gloriosa changed the subject.

“Yes! Rara was so excited to play at our wedding, but somehow we need to get a piano all the way out here…” Sunset looked around the area.

“We could put it up on the gazebo, but if you wanted it closer to the dock I’m sure we could prop it in place with wooden blocks or something.”

“We planned to have Rara step off the docks and to the piano when it was time for everything to start, so we’d prefer it be closer,” Sunset said.

“We’ll figure it out! Now, I heard Pinkie mention fondue…”

“Oh sweet Celestia.”

“That’s what I thought too.”

“Are you sure we need at 1o layer cake, Pinkie?” Fluttershy asked.

“Of course we need a ten layer wedding cake! What kinda question is that?”

Pinkie Pie had been tasked with baking and decorating Sunset and Twilight’s wedding cake just a week before the wedding. Now, she was hyped up on a combination of Fun-Dip and raw sugar as she, Fluttershy, and Cheese Sandwich baked.

“How about just six? You know Sunset was never big on cake after Princess Celestia made her eat an entire three layer cake when she was a filly.” Fluttershy shook her head.

Pinkie pondered this for a moment.

“Six it shall be!” Pinkie declared, tossing four of a cake pans back into the cabinet below the kitchen island. “Now, do we dye the frosting rainbow colors or the lesbian pride flag colors?”

“Pinkie, that’s a fantastic idea!” Cheese exclaimed.

“Pinkie, Sunset’s bi and Twilight’s pan. Neither of them are lesbians.” Fluttershy shook her head.

“Rainbow it is then!” Cheese shouted cheerfully.

Fluttershy sighed, picking up a bag of powdered sugar and dragging it to the electric mixer on the counter behind them. She grabbed the box of food coloring.

“It’s gonna be a long day.”

“I can’t believe you dragged us to Vegas for our bachelorette party.” Twilight said as Sunset let her through the bright lights of the vegas strip. Applejack and Rainbow walked ahead of them, acting as some sort of body guards as the pushed their way through the crowd down towards the hotel and casino they were staying in. Pinkie and Fluttersh were right behind the almost-married couple with Rarity and Rara holding up the rear as they looked around at all the bright lights for inspiration.

“It’ll be fun Twi! They say it’s our ‘last night of freedom’,” Sunset laughed.

“We’ve been dating for five years and we’ve always had freedom. Are straight people okay?” Twilight asked as Sunset led her into the hotel and casino. Rainbow and Applejack had all of their bags, somehow, while Rara and Rarity wheeled their suitcases behind them.

While Pinkie and Fluttershy went to check in, Twilight looked out across the lobby. It was simple, but beyond the lobby was the casino portion of the hotel, filled with people trying their luck at a million dollars and gambling in games of poker.

While Twilight wasn’t keen exactly on wasting her money on machines she knew were rigged, Las Vegas was a beautiful city at night and Twilight wanted to make sure she got the full experience.

Soon they were in their hotel room, which was more of a lavishly large condo, much larger than the one Twilight and Sunset lived in back home in Los Angeles.

“Woah, this place is gigantic,” Rarity marveled, spinning around in the entryway.

“Yeah, how the hell did you afford this, Sunset?” Rainbow asked.

“I’m an Equestrian Princess, I have more pure gold coins than a human could reasonably need. We could all retire today with less than 1% of all my money. Not to mention, animation at Hasbro pays decently for being just out of college” Sunset said. Rara looked at her like she was crazy, but accepted this fact and rolled with it.

“We’ve got to explore this place later tonight when we get drunk.” Pinkie giggled.

“Oh yeah! I wonder if the mini bar is stocked!” Rainbow ran off into the hotel room, searching for alcohol.

“Ah doubt a place as fancy as this has a mini-bar, Rainbow” Applejack said, but in a flash, Rainbow was gone.

“So, should we hit up a strip club tonight then explore the casinos tomorrow night, or the other way around?” Sunset asked.

“A strip club, really?” Twilight asked almost in disbelief. Really, she should have expected it. Sunset could be extremely vulgar at times, and she knew Sunset was no stranger to strip clubs.

“I’m down,” Rainbow said, running back into the room holding what looked to be a very expensive bottle of wine.

After figuring out where the bedrooms and bathrooms inside the hotel room where, and even getting lost in the master bathroom, they finally changed and made their way out onto the strip.

They ended up in a strip club that catered to both male, female, and non-binary audiences. Pinkie and Sunset had raided an ATM and now as Twilight got a lap dance from a beautiful girl definitely much older than her, she was now extremely glad she was here. She was trying not to think too much about how happy and, as cliche as it sounded, blessed she was considering a stripper was gyrating her hips in her lap.

She glanced over at Sunset who was on her third drink now.

She couldn’t wait to be married now with just a week left until the wedding. Her life was about as perfect as it could possibly be, and all she could imagine was how much better it would get once she was finally married to the love of her life.
