~The Plan~

Dear journal, April 5th 1998, I am writing to you to let you know that today is a very special day. My dad just got a job. This will really make up for the payments we need to make on our house. But, don't worry. It'll be fine as long as we stick together. I'm sure my dad will come up with something.

"Rose! Come down for breakfast!"

I have to go journal, my dad is calling me for breakfast. Bye!

"Rose come on!"

"Coming dad!"

Rose trotted down stairs in her plain yellow jacket and blue caky pants that she wore everyday.

Rose had smelled a fresh plate of sunflower seeds with a side of water. It wasn't much, but Rose was thankful for what she had.

"Thanks dad, it smells great."

Rose smiled at her father and dug into her sunflower seeds which were really dried out and she got a few gulps of water, snatched her baby blue backpack and ran out the door to the bus.

"Bye dad! See you after school!"

Her dad smiled at her.

"Bye Rose! Remember what I taught y-"

"Okay dad! Bye dad! Have a nice day dad! Gotta go!"

Rose zipped off and just in the nick of time, the bus was just about to shut the doors.

But, Rose dropped something along the way and a stallion named Zach was right behind her trotting to the bus stop also.

He had short black hair with blue eyes that twinkled whenever the sun hit them just right.

Zach was running behind her when he saw the blank sheet of paper on the ground.

He stopped and picked it up with one hoof and read it.

It was the math paper the math teacher had assigned yesterday!

He had to give it to Rose.

He zipped up and tried to catch up with Rose, but she was too fast.

Then, all of a sudden, SPLASH!

Zach and Rose both fell into a puddle of mud.

Anna saw the whole thing and then she snickered at them when they weren't looking.

"Good look for you Rose! But, don't you usually PAY to get a mud mask?"

Anna laughed along with all the other popular girls as the bus took off.

"Oh great, just great. Thanks! That really helped!"

Rose began to start crying but before she did Zach hoofed the muddy white sheet of paper to her.

Rose looked up at him and Zach smiled. Rose smiled back.

"Sorry, I just get a little, annoyed about the popular girls. Their always picking on me. And you to I see."

Zach nodded and then got up and helped up Rose. Then they both walked to school together.

After that, Rose and Zach got cleaned off.

Just in time to go to class also.

They both were in geometry first.

Rose, HATED geometry.

When she and Zach got in the class she sighed.

"Ugh! I had geometry. Don't you?"

"Yeah, it sort of annoys me."

Rose couldn't believe it.

She never knew that Zach could talk.

She shrugged and then headed over to her seat.

Mrs. Hoovesworth handed out a blank sheet of lined paper.

"Alright. Now, class. Write your name at the top and put the date too. Then we will begin our geometry test."

Everyone groaned.

Except Wilson.

He LOVED geometry.

He literally wanted to live in the class room!

Rose rolled her eyes and then the teacher put the test questions on the projector and every pony started working.

Rose moaned.

She began writing down random answers and then passed a note to Zach saying -

'Zach, this is really boring. I think I'm going to say I have to go to the bathroom and ditch, wanna come? ~Rose.'

Zach read the note carefully and then wrote back -

'Rose, I don't think ditching class is a good idea, or passing notes. Do we really have to? I mean, I hate this too and all, but it is a grade. ~Zach.'

Zach tossed the note and then Rose read it and then made a frown at Zach. And then wrote back

'Zach, come on. It's only one day. I wanna go explore, come on, just one time. Please? ~Rose'

Zach sighed when he got the note and finally nodded at Rose.

Zach and rose both raised their hooves and Mrs. Hoovesworth answered Rose's question first.

"Yes, Rose?"

"Mrs. Hoovesworth, I have to use the bathroom."

Mrs. Hoovesworth sighed.

"Fine, but make it quick!"

Rose nodded and dashed out of the room.

Then she answered Zach's question,

"Yes Zach?"

"Um, Mrs. Hoovesworth, I have to go also."

She sighed again.

"Fine, but like I told Rose, MAKE IT QUICK!"

Zach also nodded and walked quietly out of the room and closed the door tight.

"Finally! Were out. Now I can go look for that treasure my cat found the other night."

"Your cat? Found treasure?"

Rose nodded.

"Yes, she found it in the old construction yard."

Zach gulped down hard and stopped making a screeching noise on the floor.

"Uh, maybe this isn't a good idea, I mean, it's sort of, spooky there."

Rose rolled her eyes.

"Come on, are you, afraid?"

"Pssh, afraid? Me? Nah."

"Alright then, you shouldn't have any trouble coming then. Now let's go before a teacher or some pony sees us!"

Rose ran to the door.

"Oh, Celestia, what have I gotten myself into?"

Zach ran after her and then they zipped out the door and headed for the old construction yard.
