Act 1: It Ends Here Nightmare.
In a burned-down palace, two alicorns were staring at one another face-to-face. The white one stared with determination to stop her insane, black-hearted sister, but she feared of her sister's power. The black one was smug because she had her weak-hearted, sun-loving foal of a sister at the mercy of her hooves. She was presently staring with an evil smile. "Face it,” she said, “you have lost. Why don't you just give up? All you’re doing is making a foal of yourself, give or take causing pointless property damage. Just surrender the elements, your right to rule this worthless land, and your crown. I'll leave you with your useless existence. What do you say, Celly?"
Celestia only stood there in fear, shocked of how sure of her sister's was. Celestia said: "Luna, it doesn't have to be like this! We promised our parents we’d rule Equestria together, as sisters of harmony.” She began to cry. “Please, stop this now, or both our reputations to all ponies will be ruined. Please?"
Nightmare Moon said: "How many times do we have to go through this? It's Nightmare Moon! Luna is nothing but a sad memory you just cast aside! Those ungrateful web of lies spreading spiders, those slithering snakes, those cowardly scampering rats, preferred you and your stupid sun over the unappreciated beauty that is the night sky! Well, news flash, idiot sister: my eternal night will make them love me! Every star of the sky will be appreciated, every side of the moon loved, and I, glorious all powerful, all knowing queen Nightmare, will be loved, respected, saluted, and seen for the grand wonder I am! I WILL BE A GREAT AND POWERFUL RULER! THE WHOLE EQUESTRIA, NAY, THE WHOLE DAMN UNIVERSE WILL SEE MY GREATNESS! THE NIGHT WILL LAST FOREVER!"
Tears were sliding down Celestia’s face when she heard her sister's insane tirade. Celestia shouted: "Luna, please! The ponies can't survive without the sun! The sun gives the plants the ability to grow; those plants feed the animals and ponies alike. If the sun can't energize the plants, the plants will die then the animals that feed on them will. But don't get me wrong, while your night can't provide those things, it does not mean the ponies don't appreciate it; many often find the stars beautiful!"
Nightmare Moon stared only angrily, and yelled: "SILENCE! Lies, you’re no better than them! I’ve seen them, sister, they don't stop and see how beautiful my night is; they bucking sleep though it!"
Celestia said, nervously: "P-please, Luna, I promise I'll get ponies to start appreciating the night, just, give them time! Earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi alike are still barely sentient. I mean, they still calls us flying unicorns or horny pegasi. I'm sure in good time they'll love your night as much as they loved the day. Please Luna, it is bad enough our parents returned to the heavens of the alicorn realms when we were given Equestria as a birthday present. I,I don't want to lose you too, Luna. Please, stop this now before it's too late. I love you, sister, and, you're the only family I have right now. I have no pony else, Luna, please, enough of this "Nightmare Moon" nonsense. I'll get them to love the night as they loved the day. I promise you…please, stop it…"
Nightmare Moon only got angrier. She flew up and positioned herself for an aerial strike. Nightmare Moon yelled at the top of her lungs with a booming voice: "FOR THE LAST BUCKING TIME, IT'S NIGHT. MARE. MOON!"
Nightmare Moon dived at Celestia, beginning to perform an aerial summersault, forming what looked like a glowing purple mist. Celestia almost had no time to act, before—
BOOM! Celestia was sent flying then smashed into the wall. Nightmare Moon dived again, horn ready to stab her sibling right at her heart, the true weakness and loop-hole to an alicorns immortality. Celestia jumped out of the way, quickly readying herself for an epic showdown. (Reasoning is pointless now.) Nightmare Moon charged yet again, her horn glowing. She jumped, began somersaulting again, forming more of the purple energy. Celestia teleported just in time.
Celestia reappeared, horn glowing waiting for her sister. Nightmare Moon turned around, horn also glowing, staring with a face of revenge and anger. Nightmare Moon said: "Enough of your cowardly ways. The eternal night draws near. Soon your sun and your weak-minded ways will be the thing of the past! YOU WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST! Then, the foals of the alicorn council will feel my wrath, then, other dimensions will feel my wrath! NIGHTMARE MOON'S GREAT, ENTERNAL GLORY WILL! BE! MINE! ALL MINE!" Celestia was still in tears, but her face was also angry.
Celestia yelled: “STOP!" The Elements of Harmony began to glow. Nightmare was surprised, but quickly dismissed it as she charged! Celestia yelled: "YOU MAY BE MY SISTER, BUT I WILL NO LONGER LET FEAR OR YOU PREVENT ME FROM PROTECTING EQUESTRIA AND ALL THINGS THAT LIVE IN IT!" The glow intensifies, but Nightmare still charged. The glow escaped her notice. Celestia yells: "AS MOTHER MARE NATURE AND FATHER TIME STALLION AS MY WITNESS, I WILL PROTECT THESE PONIES FROM YOU, AS WE DID FROM DISCORD!" The glow glowed even brighter, blinding and almost stopping Nightmare's rampage. Nightmare Moon attempted to watch in horror of the sudden change of character of what was supposed to be a complete coward and a mortal loving hippie. She had turned into a goddess of unimaginable fury! Nightmare Moon slowly tried to take paces back, both in fear and awe, as Celestia rose up in the sky, wings drawn, and horn glowing like crazy. Celestia had lost her face of fear; it had been replaced by the face of determination. Celestia said, almost eerily calm: "It ends here, Nightmare." The glow transformed into a rainbow. It spiraled upwards first, then fell down on Nightmare. Nightmare Moon screeched as the rainbow engulfed her.
"NO! AHH! THE PAIN, THE PAIN! THE MAGIC HARMS ME! NO, ARGHH!"
In a powerful flash of light from Celestia which spread through the burned palace, Equestria, and beyond. All damages were amended. Expect one. Celestia gently landed, dropping the five Element gems, horrified of what she had seen. Nightmare Moon, or Luna as she preferred to call her, was nowhere to be found. Celestia didn’t know what she had done. Then, she looked up to the moon. The moon had shadows that looked like a mare—Nightmare Moon. Celestia dropped to the ground, crying out of control. Celestia yelled: "NO! THIS NOT WHAT I PLANED! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE NORMAL AGAIN! NO!"
Celestia used her magic to pick up the elements again, trying to think of a spell to reverse this and try to focus this time on a cure Luna properly, but a voice boomed: "STOP!" Celestia panicked; she knew that voice. She turned around, seeing three alicorns: one female, two male. The tallest one, called Creation, was the leader of the alicorn council. He was a regal blue with a green mane. He looked of young looking despite being millions of eons old. His cutie mark was the earth. The female, named Mother Nature, was a light greenish yellow with a darker green mane. Vines with flowers on them wound around all of her legs. She had a cutie mark of a flower with a paw on the head. The final and eldest pony was a male who had a gray-whitish coat with a beard of the same color. He had a dark gray mane and a hour-glass cutie mark. His name was Father Time.
Celestia said: "Oh great ones, you're here to help me. Listen, I'll free Luna, you three help weaken that spirit controlling her, and then—“
Father Time stallion interrupted saying: "I know what you seek, but that is not why we are here. Young Celestia, your intentions are good, and we all care for Luna as well, but, the spirit referring to herself as "Nightmare Moon" has made it too dangerous for an immediate release. She must be one banished for 1000 years."
Celestia yelped: "1000 YEAR BANISHMENT!? NO! I CAN'T EVEN GO 10 MINUTES WITHOUT LUNA BY MY SIDE, LET ALONE SO MUCH AS 1000 YEARS!"
Mother Mare said: "Please, young one, hear us out. The Luna we know, as much as we hate to admit, is imprisoned by the spirit. She is too dangerous to be released now, not without allowing her banishment to weaken her powers. This will prevent her from using those moves again.”
Celestia yelled: "WE DON'T NEED TO WAIT YEARS! I HAVE ALL OF YOU HERE, I KNOW WE CAN OVERCOME THE SPIRIT TOGETHER AND FREE LUNA!"
Creation said: "I understand your pain, we all share it, but both your love of your sister, your fear of losing her, and fear of the spirit, and your shocking rudeness towards us has made you unbalanced in the way of harmony, and the Alicorn, and, in turn, you have betrayed your parents wishes, though highly well meaning and un-intentional."
Celestia kick-flipped Creation! Celestia gets the gems! Celestia yelled from the top of her lungs: "NONE OF YOU WILL TAKE MY SISTER AWAY! SHE'S ALL I HAVE NOW! I WILL NOT LET THAT SPIRIT, NOR YOU, OR ANYTHING TAKE MY SISTER AWAY!" Lighting hits Celestia, it was from Father Time Stallion. Father Time said: "Please refrain your anger, Celestia, your mother razed you better then that!" Celestia charges at Father Time Stallion, but he disappears, reappeared by Mother Mare Nature and a hardly damaged Creation by his side, with the elements in Creation's procession again. Celestia, forgetting what her mother showed her to respect the high council of Alicorns, charges at them. Mother Mare Nature is the first to intervene, horn glowing, and Celestia and Mother Mare uses their horns like energy swords, struggling to hold each-others power.
Mother mare nature said: "Young Celestia, we all want Luna back, but the Elements cannot be misused for your own needs. Now, end this childish hissy-fit and remember your place, young Celestia." Celestia did not respond, as they continue fighting. Celestia reared up and power-pushed Mother Mare Nature towards a wall. Mother Mare is ok, but momentary un-able to continue to fight. Father Time Stallion meditates, causing strong winds to slow down the distraught Princess. Father Time said: "Please end these childish outbursts, Celestia, it will only made things more difficult for you. Luna cannot be helped right away, not with Nightmare still at full power." Celestia remain non-respondent, as she opened her wings, flapped the winds against Father Time Stallion, causing the old Alicorn to be tossed across the room. He is fine, but unable to be of further help. Despite this Mare's well meaning but clearly emotionally insane determination to save a beloved sister, Creation remained calm. Creation simply had his horn glow, summoning two huge Phoenixes, which capture Celestia and disable her.
Mother Mare Nature and Father Time Stallion, got up, and return to Creation's side.
Creation said: "Celestia, we understand your pain, but will you please allow us to explain why we are here?" Celestia only nodded. Creation said: "You became unbalanced, un-focused, and even more dangerous than the Spirit, or, maybe even a near rival of the monster known as Discord. Your uncontrolled love, fear, and irrationally would have only granted you a similar fate as Luna, only you will probably be an even more dangerous threat."
Mother Mare said: "And we can't bear losing another beloved daughter of my sister, dear niece."
Father time added: "Or of My brother, who married Mother Mare Nature's sister. They are in enough pain because of what has become of Luna, or what's already becoming you, young niece."
Creation said: "And I will not bare the shame that I failed to save you from either your own destruction from Nightmare Moon. Or worse, you becoming like her. So, reluctantly, we, the council, must face the hardest decision in our history. Phoenixes, bring her closer to us." The giant fire birds complied. Celestia only whimpered in fear. Creation said: "I'm sorry, young Celestia, but it is the council’s wish that you can no longer be connected to the Elements of Harmony. So say I."
Mother Mare, Father Time, and Creation all shouted: "SO SAY WE ALL!" as their horns glowed, leaning towards the helpless Celestia.
Celestia yelled: "NO, PLEASE! STOP! NO, I MUST HELP LUNA! NO, NO, NO!" The horns touched Celestia.
The Phoenixes released Celestia as they disappeared. Celestia barely got up, staring with sadness at her aunt, uncle, and beloved mentor. Celestia said: "Please, please tell me it was a fluke… Please…"
Father Time said: "Well, go ahead, try to use the Elements." Celestia waited for protests from Mother Mare or Creation, but both remained silent. She then proceeded to try to use the Elements, but nothing happened; she tried again, nothing. And again, nothing still.
Celestia fell down in fetal position. Creation went forth to comfort the broken mare in spite of her actions. Creation said: "Do not cry, young Celestia, just because Luna has been taken away, and is currently too dangerous to pursue now, doesn't mean hope is lost, my star pupil."
Celestia stood willing to listen. Creation said: "Father Time predicts that after Nightmare Moon returns and imprisons you in an another dimension, Nightmare Moon will be defeated by those who are to be the new bearers of Harmony, united by one Unicorn mare: Twilight Sparkle."
Father time said: "She does not exist yet; you'll have to wait some generations before Twilight will come. But, at least now, there is hope for both of Luna's and your redemption."
Mother Mare said: "And don't worry. Despite your behavior, we won't hold it against you, young princess, nor will your parents."
Creation said: "We will comfort them, tell them of your good intentions just to be on the safe side in case they disapprove of this. Now, dear student, end your tears. Know hope for redemption, full restoration to harmony, and the balance rests in the hooves of Twilight Sparkle, destined to wield the most powerful of the Elements of Harmony: Magic."
Celestia said: "Tell me, master, who are the others?"
Father Time said: "We'll reveal them once you handle another matter: calming your subjects; they are in great need."
Creation said: "And, of course, living up to your promise of making the mortals love the night."
Celestia said: "But how? I am destined to control the sun, like mother before me."
Creation said: "Then a spell will be cast upon you. You will control the moon, like the sun, as if things never went wrong." Creation lit his horn again and cast a spell on Celestia.
Father Time said: "The spell will break upon the freedom of Nightmare Moon; we ask that you willingly allow her to send you to the Dimension and allow the new bearers do what they must." Celestia was reluctant to agree to such an idea, but, if it was for Luna's sake, she could do it.
Celestia said: "Very well, I'll let Nightmare Moon have a false sense of victory by letting her sending me to another Dimension. But how will I ensure Twilight Sparkle will even succeed?"
Creation said: "Take her in as your personal student, teach her everything, bond with her like she was your daughter. Her loyalty, devotion, and willingness to please you will be what will reverse this.
Celestia sighed. She said: "Very well master, when she does come, I will do as commanded." Creation cast a spell, creating a series of lights, in shape of a purple Unicorn with a darker purple mane and tail with two lighter colors in between, with a cutie mark resembling a sparkle.
“This is what she will look like.” he said. The alicorns teleported away. Celestia turned around, looking at the moon with its new shade. Celestia cried, but softly. She said: "Luna, I promise, no matter what it takes, no matter how rude Twilight may possibly be, whatever it takes, even if it means giving up my crown, my place in Equestria, even, dare I say, my immortal life. I will train Twilight Sparkle in the ways of magic and harmony till the day you and your mean spirited oppressor come back. Nightmare Moon will be defeated, reduced to a memory, then, we'll be together, and no pony will take you away. THIS I SWEAR!"
