This was an interesting one! I admit I struggled a bit with the timeline at first, but once I caught on to the fact that each chapter was essentially a prequel to the previous one, explaining a bit more of the background between Blue Jay/Bird and Soarin, I enjoyed each deeper look, like opening a matryoshka. :)
I would have loved to see the story wrap back around to the present, and perhaps answer some of the questions it raised in more detail -- why didn't Soarin show up? Is there a connection between Blue Jay/Bird and Soarin beyond coincidental resemblance? And why did he use different names? -- but I still enjoyed their sibling-esque joking around, and watching how each chapter revealed the foundation the previous one built on.
