March 9
All anyone could talk about at breakfast was the primary. People whose candidate had won were gloating, which wasn’t that surprising, and the others put the best face forward and said that their candidate had done better than expected, or they were building momentum for the next primary, or they were showing that they were still in the race, or the results didn’t matter anyway.
It was a lot like sports.
What did seem odd was that each state got a primary, but they didn't all happen at the same time. There would be another one next week, and another one the week after that, and so on. Each candidate won a number of votes, and then they carried them forward until they had a majority of votes, or I guess there was some other convention where they could be nominated if they didn't have a majority.
After that, the two winningest candidates would face off against each other and then there would be another election, and the winner of that would be the next president.
It sounded needlessly complicated, and I told people that. Our cities had the same mayor until we decided that she wasn't doing a good job any more, and then we replaced her.
Joe asked me if we were worried about tyrants or dynasties. I said it was more about how well she did and not so much who her mother was. That's why the unicorn system is dumb. Sure, they must get good leaders sometimes, but they also got stuck with Prince Blueblood.
Then when I got to climate class, I had to change my thinking from politics to the weather. The professor said that he was going to spend half the class reviewing for the final exam, and then we could spend the second half studying on our own or else working on the weather project I was going to grade.
Well, that meant that I wouldn't get to do any studying on my own, so I really had to pay attention in the first half.
I think if wasn't for all the terminology the humans used, I would have been more confident, but I was still having some trouble with how they described things. Especially when it was an incomplete description, because humans didn't always know how things actually interacted and divided stuff into separate categories when they ought not to have.
I didn't want to undo what he had explained when I was talking about how we did the weather, either, 'cause I knew people were going to ask for more details. Even though it wasn't really part of the extra credit assignment..
So I told them about how we get the water up to the weather factories, both capturing it when it's already in the sky and making up the difference with water tornadoes.
Of course everyone wanted to know if I could make a tornado, and I said that I probably could, but I was worried that if I did it would go out of control, and by the time it was even formed at all, I'd be so exhausted that I wouldn't be able to stop it.
If there was already one naturally formed, or about to, I could influence it with less work on my part, but it was still incredibly dangerous.
They were disappointed that I'd refused, and I thought about making a little bitty dust whirl, but I didn't tell them that I probably could if I tried and the conditions were just right. Maybe next time I was flying over a large open field I’d give it a try and see what happened.
I reminded them that they weren't supposed to try and calculate how many ponies it would take to turn Goldopolis into productive farmland. Even I didn't know that. Besides just the weather ponies, you'd have to have lots of earth ponies working the soil for a long time: just dumping lots of rain on arid land would only cause flash floods.
Then class was over, and I took a break and read Aquamarine's letter. She said that she was looking forward to Spring Break as well and that she'd be happy to see me and it would be nice to talk mare to mare, 'cause humans were really weird about a lot of stuff. She also said that her roommate had said it was okay if I stayed with them for a couple of days, which was really nice of her roommate. I'd get to spend some more time with her and catch up face-to-face.
I wrote a quick computer letter to Mister Salvatore and Miss Cherilyn telling them what Aquamarine had said, and added what my schedule for finals was going to be. I'd gotten so busy the second half of the quarter that I'd almost completely forgotten about them. Then I rushed off to philosophy.
We learned about labor and value, which was something that I was familiar with. Ponies produce things that other ponies need or want based upon their skills. Weather ponies make rain, and the rain grows crops, and the crops are turned into food for the weather ponies, and so the cycle goes.
I asked the professor if taking things away also counted as value, and she wasn't sure what I meant at first, then I told her how I'd been working breaking up storms, and that could be thought of as taking something away rather than producing something.
Then another student said that he thought that was a type of production. We produced a measure of safety, and he said it was like the fire department, who protects everyone by putting out fires before they can spread.
But a few students protested why Marx's philosophy wouldn't work, and the teacher said that we weren't going to be arguing the political side of his philosophy; that was a different class, and that got people back on course.
At the end of it, I was still pretty sure that Marx had come up with the best ideas, and maybe that was why we'd saved him for very last.
It was interesting how at lunch almost everyone had forgotten about the election last night; nobody was talking about it at all. Or maybe they'd said all that they wanted to say at breakfast.
After lunch, I wrote back to Aquamarine, and told her what my finals schedule was and said that I was still waiting to hear back from Mister Salvatore and Miss Cherilyn and that I was sorry for not having written back sooner but I'd been snowboarding all weekend. I hoped she understood; I was going to be so upset with myself if she was mad. Then I added in at the end about the weather assignment I was going to help grade and wanted to know if she was doing anything similar.
I hope she can read my mouthwriting: I wrote the letter in kind of a hurry.
I just barely made it to Equestrian class in time, but I got there. There wasn't any time to talk before the class started, but afterwards Meghan asked if I wanted to come over tomorrow night and watch the second Harry Potter movie with her.
Surely, it would have been wiser to spend the time studying, but I could spend all day Sunday doing it, and it would be fun to see more of Harry Potter and spend some more time with Meghan.
I went over to Aric's right after dinner, and I had my saddlebags on, 'cause I wanted to have him help me with my vocabulary.
He wanted to know what was in it for him (he said it jokingly), so I told him what was in it for him when we got done with studying and he said that sounded like a pretty good deal.
So he reached under my belly and unstrapped my saddlebags and I got out my notebook. He sat on the couch and I lay my head down on his lap and he read the definitions and I said the words, and then we switched around to where I was defining the words, and after a couple of hours I was consistently getting them all right even though he was distracting me because he only needed to hold the notebook with one hand. No matter how many times I swatted it away, it came back, and I really didn't mind all that much anyway.
Snrk. This is why Naked Studying works.
I can only imagine the leaps and bounds human meteorology will make when pegasi share their more intuitive and comprehensive knowledge of the systems involved. Well, once they adjust for the differences between the two universes, of course.
Also, does Aquamarine not have an e-mail address, does Silver not know it, does she just think that e-mail is for contacting humans, or does she feel that a physical letter has a much needed more personal touch in spite of the much longer delivery time?

I missed out on so much during my time at college...

Tell me about it
This phrase now have the totally useless Conflicting Views' seal of approval!
Marx's Birthday is tomorrow.
Also, Tequila is disgusting. That shite is more offensive to me than the sombreros and claiming it's "Mexican Independence Day."

Silver, this isn't like how things work at town level (even though my head canon is that Equestria is a federation of city states), they're basically selecting their Princess Celestia for the next four years. Of course it is going to be more complicated.
7186199 That would be nice if it were true, but most of the leaders tend to be unicorns and a few pegasi. The evidence seems to suggest that earth ponies slept in on the day they were handing out superpowers.
7185926
Or maybe they want to communicate in Equestrian but the computers don't have it yet.
That was cute.
She does have a point there.
Aren't they all technically stuck with Princess Celestia (and Luna?) though? I have a difficult time imagining Blueblood has any significant power if only because Celestia is literally standing beside him and anytime a unicorn prince fucked up the other ponies would probably expect Celestia to fix it--and, in doing so, acquiring more of that political power.
I'm actually surprised the whole immortal princess thing hasn't come up yet, especially with all the politics going on.

On another note, has Silver heard this song? If not, then she should.

I'm pretty sure you got your idea from a "reliable" source like The Guardian.
(For quick and dirty reference on what Cultural Marxism is:)
Cultural Marxism is a catch all term for the summary of different beliefs that have its roots in Critical Theory. This is the best description I found and it comes from the Sanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy:
You can see it's already a biased philosophy where a core part of it are "theories" based around criticism and activism for every kind of "equality" and "freedom" (and I'm quoting those loosely), possibly for the type of Utopian society that Marx wanted. It's an interesting subject I'm still looking through, but it's a confusing and obfuscated one that's mired in an academic word salad that makes me want to throttle the authors.
Take Theodore Adorno for example, one of the founders of the Frankfurt School, who believed that Marx didn't do far enough in his criticisms of capitalism, like Commodity Fetishism.
This is only one of the people that have been involved with crafting the ground work for viewing culture from a Marxist perspective.
And you really don't know your history. Many of the founders of the Frankfurt School were at their school in Frankfurt, Germany from 1923 to 1933, when they had to flee to New York, because of the rise of Hitler and all of them were Jews. Many of them stayed in America at Columbia University up until the early 1950's when the old school was reopened again in Germany.
I still need to read up on the works behind some of the other people behind Critical Theory like Max Horkheimer and Herbert Mercuse. There stuff would make good philosophy material to sift through.
There are people who do look at culture and society based around Critical Theory and they exist. Like this woman here.
And for additional reference, "propaganda" is a biased push for a set of beliefs, mainly by exaggeration and lies to push an idea or ideology, while an "ideology" is just a set beliefs or doctrines that a group believes. So 1. What is Cultural Marxism propagandizing for? and 2. How is this not a set of beliefs or doctrines that someone can believe in?
There's a difference between studying and talking about racism, and promoting anti-white rhetoric. It's the difference between talking about how to recognize and what is racism, and then talking about how white people should feel ashamed of themselves for past transgressions or that they don't recognize their own "privilege" over other minorities. There were those dozens of videos with people describing the concept of "Whiteness" and being anti-white bigots, and I didn't want to write out an essay.
Portland Community College has had these month long talks going back to the 90's called "Whiteness History Month". That's where much of the recent videos on that channel come from and they're from the lectures there. http://www.pcc.edu/about/diversity/cascade/whiteness-history-month/ (There's also proudly displayed courses in Social Justice and Women's Studies.)
But the kicker comes from the link on the side, What is Whiteness?
First, "Critical White Studies" as if to view white people as a collective from a Critical Theory perspective. Critical Theory already gives a biased view based on inherent social inequality and Marx's theories. This implies that there are these biased studies classes in dissecting white people and Western society through a Marxist lens and how it's oppressive towards others. It doesn't sound like the type of class that can give factual or reasonable answers.
And watching the videos on that site and their lectures, it's doubtful they're talking about "Whiteness" or white supremacy in a historical sense, and sound like there's this all-powerful white supremacy that is still happening and is institutionalized in all forms of power today. ... So the Civil Rights Movement failed and Martin Luther King Jr died for nothing? Also, if Whiteness is an ideology that institutionalizes "white supremacy", isn't it just regular old white supremacy with political power?
As well, these types of supremacist ideas aren't unique to European and Euro descended countries or cultures either. Looking up White South Africa will yield results about racial discrimination against working class white people who are living in squatter camps and murders against white farmers. Why are the people in this college lecture focusing so much on white supremacy and racists, but not on black supremacy and racists?
Also, choosing a racially based term like "Whiteness" to describe white supremacy doesn't strike anyone else as incredibly weird either? Like saying that "Blackness" is a term to describe black supremacy. Just from that alone and the definition they provided, it implies that it's an inherent part of white peoples culture.
You mean you don't defend Freedom of Speech and are for Thought Crimes against anyone who doesn't think like you.
You see, here's the thing you don't understand: "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." And what I mean by that is if you give the right of someone to espouse what they believe, you will have people deciding based on more informed ideas instead of doing something out of frustration, hear-say, or rhetoric.
For example, the British National Party is a break off of the National Front, and what someone would look at and see is a racist fascist political party. From 1999 up until 2010, they started to enjoy success as they gained voters after a major revamp of their image and voters were becoming frustrated with the other political parties in the UK, especially about immigration. That is until the leader at the time, Nick Griffin, got in front of the public for the first time on BBC's Question Time for 1 hour. Before that, there were already elected BNP members in the UK government and seemed to be poised for being a real political force. The BBC was criticized mercilessly for giving him a platform, but did also have a panel of other people that wanted to speak against him as well and to really test him. After the 1 hour program, support for the party evaporated as the public found out what he was like, believed in, and the ideology of the part. Today, they have no power in politics or in local government and are seen in general as a far right fascist group.
THAT is why you give platforms to people you don't like.
Defend freedom of speech and give solid evidence for a theory on where some of the madness in modern universities come from?
Oh, so you are for Though Crimes after all. My mistake.
DEFINE RACISM! What do YOU qualify as racism? Because I don't think you or many people know what that term means anymore. You and others online keep on throwing out "racist racist racist", but never define it other than a label to stick to someone that you don't agree it. Fuck, I'll give it. It is the hatred or intolerance of another person based on their race or ethnicity. It is the idea that one race is superior or inferior to others. It is the idea that one has a right to rule over or be servile because of their ethnicity. (Not this Microaggressions or other conspiratorial bullshit.)
You want to go in depth why I believe those people in the college lectures are racist? They are intolerant of white people based on their skin color, and they use these mental gymnastics of adding "power" or "privilege" as a means to justify their own intolerance. They believe that whites are superior because [sarcasm]Whiteness is around us[/sarcasm] and that blacks are inferior because they can never throw off any kind of white oppressor. And they believe that whites have the absolute ability to rule over everyone else because of their institutionalized white supremacy.
I don't believe that crock of horse shit, and I don't believe a vast majority of people do either. Only people like yourself coming from nowhere with your nose high, full of smug moral superiority and proudly signaling to all others how much of a virtuous twat you want to be viewed as are the only type of people I've seen that reject evidence, science, and logic because you're own world view should be the only thing that should be taken as fact. You're a fucking ideologue.
And I am so goddamn tired of your Guilt By Association Fallacy. Everything you see in my arguments or evidence, your little mind goes "Well some racist somewhere said that once, so he must be a super racist like them as well!" No. No you stupid stupid little person. You don't know how to logic around that at all. Let me ask, would you like to ban smoking? I think a lot of people would. Well, guess what, Hitler was for that as well. Therefor, you're a Nazi. Can you even for the life of yourself, drop the goddamn labels and think past that to actually fight on a level where you're attacking the logic instead of mountains of straw?
Feminism. It's a hate movement. I know you and others will say "No no it's not. Honestly, we swear!" I can't count the number of times I've seen feminists do stupid shit within the past couple years, and a lot of people know as well. Their numbers are declining as they get more radicalized and complain about smaller and smaller shit. It's gotten to the point where it's obvious that due process rights and fair treatment of men in a court of law has started to now become a point of conversation. Feminists won't say anything about that though since they're too busy harassing people who don't follow their group think. [Also, a bit of food for thought. Not liking Feminism, doesn't mean a hatred of women. You can be a non-Feminist or anti-Feminist and love or hate women. It's not a zero sum game.]
Ethics in journalism. The movement has pretty much died off as its goals have been accomplished and has raised attention to how corrupt journalism has become these days. Most gaming websites have ethics codes now that are available for all to see and have made disclosures and regular journalistic practices mandatory. It also helped showing off how much collusion and even ideologically biased these outlets have become once they started running with the "harassment" narrative and doubled down on each other. They've lost.
Listening to other people, like your opponents and somebody that you don't like, will make you more informed person since you can identify what their ideas are and the logic behind them. From there, you can attack the logic and break that down. For example, you didn't read the post I made where I went through and analyzed Ronald Reagan's politics to see what he believed in and came to the conclusion much of his principles were garbage.
I don't have sympathy for Pick Up Artists, I've never visited PUA websites in depth, or listened to them. The few times I tried, it comes off as very creepy as it's mainly about how to try and pick up women, especially when it's about manipulating their emotions or instincts. I've only listened once to a PUA, and that was with MRA and anti-Feminist, Karen Straughan chatting with RooshV. [Also, there's this myth that RooshV wants to make rape legal on private property, that was a satirical post made on his blog. He also gets confused with being a MRA because the media, especially Feminists, lie that he's one so to try to make the MRM look bad. He's said on several times he's not and MRA and doesn't like them.]
... Now I know you're an idiot. Meninism is a joke movement. It was made as a way to make fun of feminists by taking their rhetoric and turning it back around on them by changing the genders.
Oh that's a good one, are you going to call me a sock puppet and that I live in my mothers basement too?
I really will have to make a website that's dedicated to debunking you and a lot of talking points as well since I'm running on 9+ pages now in this Word doc now.
Maybe you can use actual logic to debunk said claims that you're trying to speak of instead of vaguely inferring such a thing. Or would that take too much time or brain power for you?
This isn't Twitter, mate.
You and your small circle of friends are not going to get rid of me, you're not changing my mind, and I've seen and got enough evidence to come to my conclusions. The problem I see is people like you who hate being challenged and want to quash all opposing views than your own. Bring some bigger guns of your own if you believe in what you are saying.

The really sad part is that 7186191 caught the last one (I had have instead of having) and I managed to misspell the correction.
Not yet. It's appropriate, too, given some of what Silver writes about in the next entry.
7186199
7186341 That's not really true though. We actually get to see the leaders of Equestria in Princess Spike, the positions are divided up pretty evenly between the 3 tribes (and both genders, for that matter). In addition, the leader of the largest, richest, presumably most important city in Equestria (Manehatten) is an earth pony stallion.
We also get to see important Equestrian leaders in the top stands at the Equestrian games, and there are more earth ponies than unicorns (almost no pegasi though).
Heck, watch the ponies of the "Canterlot Elite" in Rarity's song from season 2: Half of the "unicorn elite" we're always hearing about are earth ponies.
7187222 The problem is Legionella bacteria that can cause severe respiratory illness, namely pneumonia. Transmission is usually by inhalation of contaminated fine water mist, as may occur when turning on the shower. They are a common species in both salt and fresh water bodies and usually harmless. They thrive between 20 and 50 degrees Celsius, that's why they can build up in warm water pipes that don't get flushed all the time and that are old and have a high inner surface area due to corrosion. And water heaters set to a comfortable showering temperature that never get heated up properly of course.
They don't thrive in cold water pipes.
Letting the cold water run for a few seconds isn't so much to remove dangerous contaminants but for clearing a metallic tang and especially rust colouration in old buildings. People will do it everywhere though, out of habit, even in the most modern buildings. I still do it, even though our house has no metal piping.
Legionella.
And how they got their name.
Sooooo..... I've been meaning to ask......what are Silver Glow's coat and mane colors again?

I think for sure the pegasus cloud cities are a federation of city states. Less sure about the other towns.
7186341
IIRC, most of the ones we see actually being in charge of towns are earth ponies. Mayor Mare, Sheriff Silverstar . . . and that's all I can think of at the moment.
Not sure that the earth ponies totally got shafted on the superpowers, either. Theirs just aren't as flashy.

Yup. Plus, it's kind of a pain for Silver Glow to even use a human computer. Keyboards aren't made for hooves, and voice recognition isn't all that great, either.

7186777
Are they?
My own headcanon is that Princess Platinum's line still has dibs (probably not the proper term) on the throne, and Princess Celestia is only the steward of the throne until the rightful heir emerges and takes his or her place on the throne. I even know who that heir is (but that's a subject for a PM, since it's spoilerish for another one of my stories [it's not Blueblood]).
7187309
For God's sake, don't touch tequila. Any drink that's improved by having a dead worm in the bottle is one you want to avoid.
7188523
My headcanon is that in general the ponies prefer an earth pony mare as a leader, since she's perceived as the most practical and most down-to-earth (Applejack, for example).
That having been said, as in real life, 'in general' doesn't always apply in every case. Obviously, an earth pony leading a pegasus cloud city would just be silly. And Celestia is ruling by mutual consensus; she's a pony that everyone can agree on. She made Equestria great again.

7198121
I realize it's something of an uphill battle to argue with regards to headcanon, but I have to confess that this bit of headcanon doesn't make very much sense.
It's pretty clear that Celestia and Luna are the ones ruling Equestria, to the point where it isn't even wholly clear what the roles of Twilight or Cadance are supposed to be. There's nothing to suggest that they're just regents and if Celestia was, I'd find it alarming if the regent suddenly decided to change the fundamental structure of her role by bringing her sister in as an equal.
Moreover, if its really a question of lineages, it's only in rare cases that you'd need to actually have Celestia and Luna acting as regents--since, after all, it would be easy enough to not die until you're old enough to have a child, thus continuing the line. Although, based on the description in it sounds as if you're suggesting that Princess Platinum's bloodline has expanded so widely that a significant number of ponies, including many "commoners" could be selected for the throne, "emerging" and presumably proving themselves worthy of it.
If so, though, the the throne isn't really being assigned because of blood, but because of competence or greatness.
But even if we accept the idea that Celestia and Luna were never technically given power as over all rulers of the land, that wasn't really my point: due to their long, apparently immortal lifespan they're far more consistent leaders than any mortal pony ever could be, and over time, when the mortal ponies screw up, power that they normally hold likely ends up invested in the Sisters, and it's unlikely that a mortal pony would be able to regain that power later.
To use an example from canon; Twilight ends up having the "power" or organizing the Winter Wrap Up event due to displaying superior competence in doing so, and based on what Sparkler says in Slice of Life, a lot of the organizing in town has been taken over by Twilight--presumably because she's good at it.
While Twilight (is/was) mortal, it's easy enough to see this happening with the Princesses too. You have a pony like Blueblood, who continually messes up and makes mistakes, and the Princesses step in and resolve those mistakes: eventually you'd expect that the Princesses would always be handling that task because they're good at it.
The only reason they don't have absolute control and ponies like Mayor Mare exist is presumably because they still have limitations.
7198121
While I still despise the stuff, that's actually a common misconception.

I'm mainly a stout and porter guy. Basically, anything light doesn't shine through.
Recommendations:
Dragon's Milk Stout.
Old Rasputin Stout.
Summit Winter Ale.
Summit Northern Porter.
Bent Paddle Black Ale.
St. Bernardus Abt 12.
Buffalo Sweat Oatmeal Stout.
Guinness stout is good, but only when fresh. If it was pasteurized for export, it's crap.
Guinness Black Lager is great, but I can't find it anywhere anymore.
Also, learn your glassware. Dark, high-gravity drinks call for a snifter or thistle glass. You can get away with drinking stout from an Imperial or Nonic Pint Glass, but if you use a conical/shaker pint or a weizenglas, you'll just look like a fool.
For harder stuff, I like
Jagermeister
Bacardi (flavored or not) in Cola or Mt. Dew
Bacardi (plain) in coffee.
Baileys or Kahlua in coffee.
Jamesons straight or in coffee.
While absinthe purists look down on it for being pre-sweetened and using a different species of wormwood than the standard, I like Absente.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absente
A glass of it (without bothering with the louching ritual) really improves my TF2 and CS:GO game.
7198646
It wasn't exactly a sudden thing, though. She was an equal, then she got banished, then she came back. There was a vacant seat for a thousand years, but when the pony who rightfully occupied it returned, it got filled again.
They could. But that doesn't mean anything any more--I can claim kinship to one of the former English kings (about a thousand years ago, how about that?), but unless pretty much everyone in Europe dies unexpectedly, I'm not likely to be in line for the throne anytime soon. Likewise, most unicorns can probably claim some lineage to Princess Platinum (and probably some earth ponies and pegasi as well).
Actually, in my headcanon it's a little bit of both.
That's a very logical point. They're not like regents in that regard, if for no other reason than they're not living a normal life and then passing down the throne to the next in line. Perhaps one day they will die, and maybe then Twilight and Cadance will ascend to the throne.
Oh, sure, and I think that Celestia is trying to push back against that, especially in the case of Twilight. I think she probably could have solved some problems on her own that she set Twilight to do, but she doesn't want to be the fallback pony when things go wrong.
I think those are self-imposed, though. They don't have to have limitations, they choose to. Luna didn't understand that; now she does. Hopefully.
7199613
Depending on the structure of the Equestrian government, though, Luna revolting and then returning would be disruptive twice: for example, perhaps the framework of the nation meant that they had to both agree on a law for it to be legal, without Luna there, Celestia would have to change to this so she could create laws on her own. And then change it back.
Maybe, maybe not: it's possible, perhaps even likely that she wants her ponies to make mistakes and fail, yet I find myself skeptical that she'd purposefully allow ponies to suffer when she could do otherwise. Most of the problems, I don't think, Celestia could have solved herself: It seems implied that Celestia lost her connection with the Elements when she banished her sister, and after that anytime the elements came into play, she has to rely on the element bearers.
The only exception to this, I think, is probably the Crystal Empire: yet here we see Celestia trying to teach Twilight a key lesson--which is, essentially, don't listen to what Celestia says--and it's likely that even if Cadance and Shining Armor had failed, Celestia and Luna could have defeated him without the help of the elements. (Let's face it, Sombra is like, c-list villain here).
I was thinking more along the lines of "there's only so many hours in a day" and "can't be everywhere at once" kind of things.
7186341

Best way to study (I've heard).
Yes, she does.
Pretty much every time Silver spends the night with Aric they do it at least once.
Yup.
If she's got any sense she will.
Yeah, it's going to be realistic, not have her turn into a sex fiend.
Maybe--that would be funny. And an excuse to not repave.
She just gave the scores to the professor unedited, and he can do what he wants with them.
Agreed. Most pegasi would have at the very least mild claustrophobia.
For being huge and loud, they can sometimes be really sneaky.
7186637 There's not much indication that Blueblood has any non-ceremonial role. My head-canon for him is that he would be less of a twit if he'd been raised to be anything but decorative and nonfunctional.
Ohhhh myyy.
The big difference being that a city or general area can be united by sports (GO SPURS GO), while politics can tear it apart.

That's very true. Maybe if they changed politics around a bit to have cage matches, it would be more uniting.
Just because he's a total dick doesn't mean he's a bad leader! Look at Nixon, for instance: He got humans up to the fucking moon for Luna's sake!

I am an ApolloBoffin. The President most responsible for Apollo was President Lyndon Baines Johnson:
President John Fitzgerald Kennedy wanted a way to upstage the Soviets in Space. Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson suggested landing humans on the Moon before the Soviets. After the failure of the Bay of Pigs, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy suggested project Apollo.
This is not nice to write, but the assassination of President Kennedy helped save Project Apollo from cancellation because it was "Kennedy's Legacy", and thus faced much more resistance from going on the budgetary chopping block.
Johnson nurtured and protected Project Apollo during the 5 years of his Presidency. When the USA got caught up in Vietnam, many wanted to cancel Project Apollo and redirect the money to the war, but President Johnson refused. After the tragedy of the Apollo 1 Fire, many wanted to cancel Project Apollo, but Johnson refused.
By the end of the Presidency of Johnson, we already had 2 uncrewed successful tests of the Saturn Ⅴ, Apollo 7 where a crew tested the Command/Service-Module in Low Earth-Orbit for a fortnight, Apollo 8, in which humans entered Lunar orbit. We had plans for Apollo 9 testing docking and undocking with a Lunar Module in Low Earth-Orbit, Apollo 10 almost landing on the Moon but aborting at the last minute for gaining calibration data for a real lunar landing, and Apollo 11 landing on the Moon.
Half an year into the Presidency of Richard Milhous Nixon, we landed on the Moon. President Johnson suggested Project Apollo in early 1961 and shepherded Project Apollo 10 times longer than President Nixon and twice as long as President Kennedy. President Johnson deserves the praise for Project Apollo —— ¡not President Nixon!
Sorry, keep getting distracted. Also side note, the replies, or the glorious replies.. it's becoming half the fun of doing these commentaires! Thank you very much.
Now to see pony learn more about human politics.
Well that got to the point rather quick. And yeah... only the wrong team winning a game won't risk global war.
Trying to figure this out will just hurt your head.
Just wait till someone tries to explain the Electoral College to you. DELIBERATE unnecessarily complicated.
Ahem "Celestia". hat part of nigh immortal God-Princess do you not get?
For all her anti-unicorn stuff can get a bit "we get it Silver" and hoping something vies her wake up call on that. Do gotta agree that system is just stupid.
So going with the "He's the great great great etc... grandfoal of Princess platinum?" theory for him?
Which for ponies...... no both make perfect sense for ponies.
I don't think you need much studying Silver. You already know more the the rest of the class. Possibly combined.
Fair enough.
And your' the teacher is right' mentality precludes you putting how it REALLY is, and proving it when he marks you wrong.
You totally should give the real answer.
After this, the weather courses started a 'no pegasi' policy unless they are coming in as TA's like she is in Equestrian class.
ROAD TRIP! Let's go introduce Silver to some Storm Chasers!
Silver..........
Just don't get caught.
All "I have to wear clothes" and "We shouldn't nuzzle in public" and "Stop trying to lift up my skirt!"
I kind of noticed.
Ponies are communists confirmed.
That is so adorable and odd and brilliant and.. just... I so love how Silver thinks.
Silver. you are a PONY! you should know full well hang out with friends takes full priority!
Also, ohhhh her watching the second one.. this should be good.
Well.... once you help her limber up her mouth and tongue....... Equine lips are damn near if not fully prehensile.....
1. I'm going to go with my theory.
2. wow found a typo.
Wait..... seriously.. I was mostly joking but story.. if you are going to go that way....

Do want to point out. There is no evidence that Celestia knew Sombra had returned when she sent Twilight up north. Shining acted like it was something he and Cadance were surprised by when they got there.

You're welcome!
Unless it's the Detroit Lions; if they ever won the Superbowl they'd probably screw up accepting the trophy and somehow start a war with Canada.
Yeah, especially if you try to explain the nuances like voting districts and precincts and so on.
Eh, yes and no. The concept is pretty simple; whether or not it's still needed is much more open to debate.
Exactly! Unless Celestia goes full tyrant, they're good.

Don't count on her suddenly deciding to love unicorns in general.
Yup. In my headcanon, he's second in line for the throne, in fact, after Luna.
Not so much when it comes to what humans call things. Plus, she probably has to dumb some stuff down to give the answers the professor expects
Although to be fair, some stuff probably works differently on Earth than it does in Equestria, and she hasn't got enough experience to know what is what.
Honestly, I don't think that the professor is mad, since he's learning stuff, too. Although he probably would be upset if she spent too much time derailing his lectures.

You have to wait a little while, though.
At least she can flee from the police better than most.
"Come down off that cloud!"
"No."
I know, right? Humans are weird.
Poor Mister Salvatore and Miss Cherilyn, pining for their pegasus.
Oh yeah. Maybe not totally, but a lot.
Well, yeah, but grades are also important, and a good friend knows when you need some time alone to study.
Yes, they are. Probably even more with ponies--Silver Glow can write with her mouth, among other things.
If you'd been reading as chapters were published, you'd've found a lot more. The quick publishing schedule didn't leave a whole lot of time for editing or proofreading. . . .
Silver Glow knows how to study the right way.
She might not have known, but I'm sure she strongly suspected. Given the way banishments in Equestria seem to work, she had to figure that when the Crystal Empire came back, Sombra probably came with it.
And she couldn't very well go up there and deal with herself.

It seems like Aqua isn't making as much of an effort to settle in as Silvy. Poor pon.

Or she’s just setting about it in a different way than Silver Glow.

...Oh yeah, that's right. Americans don't understand soccer.

I mean, we have sports-based riots, too, but since most of our sports aren’t international, we don’t have national pride on the line, just state or city pride. So smaller riots, I guess.
