Turn of the Seasons · 7:40am Nov 29th, 2016
I was strolling through the woods, enjoying the beautiful colors of the fall leaves bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. The songbirds were finishing their last melodies before the starlit sky was to be painted above for the night. It was turning into the perfect time to do something I had long forgotten the joy of... watching the sunset.
I made my way to a hill that was the perfect place to watch the last warmth of light slip below the horizon. I settled down on the cold ground that sent a small shiver up my spine. The sight of the red, orange, and yellow tree tops practically glowing in the fading light warmed my heart, body, and soul; pushing aside the cool feeling of the air around me.
In only a few short months the dead of winter will bring its full and frigid weight. The vibrant colors of the fall trees, grass, and lingering flora will be covered under a thick blanket of snow. Although, right now, I am content to just sit, watch, and wait.
Just something I wrote a long while back that I decided to shape up and ship out.
What do you guys think?
This is definitely different from the little bits I remember reading from you. Not too different, and as someone who doesn't really understand their own writing too well, I like it.

Thanks. I was digging through some old work and found this beauty tied to the beginning of a "Christmas Special" chapter of one of my first stories. It wasn't too bad, so I patched up the needy bits and wanted to post it.
Also, doesn't it feel like that time of year? When one could just go to a hilltop to watch the sunset in the late afternoon and be home for some hot cocoa or tea? I just want to sit at my window and watch the first snow of the season, or enjoy the falling leaves...
