The Quickening: 5 reasons why Them's Fightin' Herds needs more love and attention · 8:57pm Apr 5th, 2016

This is a new section where I'll give my thoughts on topics I've been thinking recently. And, since my next project is coming up soon, what better way to start this section with Fighting is Magic?

1. Because Lauren Faust still cares about the fandom even if she's not in the show anymore.

Supporting and helping the developers after Hasbro itself fucked them up with the copyright, designing the main characters' designs and creating their world, the designer of The Powerpuff Girls can't be stopped.

2. Because Fœnum takes the risks that MLP can't along with its characters.

The pictures make me think this world is a mix between The Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games and How to Train Your Dragon. And although it's so obvious that the characters are the Mane 6 redesigned there are a few key differences. Let's see:

-An Applejack who not only has a family, but she defies her father so she can write her own destiny.
-A Rarity who can control ice like Elsa from Frozen and is stronger than she looks, also let's replace her British/Atlantic accent with a German one and done.
-A rebellious Twilight who can cast dark magic, making her the (almost confirmed) antagonist.
-A more self-confident Fluttershy who questiones the politics of the goverment.
-A Rainbow Dash who literally has the power to kill the rest but also struggles with a personal dilemma of who she wants to be, like Zuko from Avatar.

The only one who stayed the same was Pinkie Pie but that's ok. If we add that the Mane 6 here aren't really friends and an upcoming 7th character (a goat, who can potentially be Spike, Sunset Shimmer or Starlight Glimmer) there's potential here for stories. Sadly...

3. Because there are only 8 stories in Fimfiction.

You read right.

8 FUCKING STORIES IN THE ENTIRE SITE!

I know that this is a site for MLP-related content and therefore won't be many stories of other series, I really get it. But for a project that was originally from MLP, which resurrected from the grave of cancellation and has pony genes in their designs I expected more stuff. And to make it worse almost all fanfics have mixed to negative reception. Except...

4. Because the most popular story in Fimfiction about this is a clopfic.

The clopfic it's the easiest way to see how many people wet their pants with your script. And you're using a PG-related TV program...

Look, I don't have a problem with an erotic story, if you want to write it do it... just don't use colorful horses who learn about friendship. (Note to yourself:add this topic to the list)

And finally

5. Because everyone has forgotten about it.

Unlike another game which was funded by indie developers, continuously give us information and has a definite release date (Yooka-Laylee), it seems to me that after the game finished its campaign in Indiegogo, everyone forgot about it. No updates, no notices, no more fanfics (all the previously mentioned date from a period between September-December 2015), no new fanart and a release date in... April 2017! You're releasing the game when MLP will probably (and should) end?! (Note to yourself:add this topic to the list)

My next story was written in that period of time, so I don't know if releasing it this late would be a pro or a con, the only way to find out will be the reception the public itself gave. In the meantime I'd like to read your comments about Them's Fightin' Herds.

I'm looking forward to its release.

BTW, what are these 8 types of fanfics you're talking about? Just out of curiosity.

3971681 All of them (including mine) are in this group. But if you want to read them separately here they are. But I'm warning you, like I said most of them have mixed reception:

How Foenum became Equus (good)
The Bravest Souls are Those With the Most to Fear (A Them's Fightin' Herds Crossover) (good)
Oleander goes to Ponyville (mixed to positive)
Daring Do & The Key to Infinity (technically is good but its like bar is still locked)
Baaad Future (baaad)
Oleander writes disappointing Twixie Clop (bad)
Scoots finds love and has fun too (mixed to negative)
The Book of Oleander (good, highest rated story of the crossover bunch in the site)
And of course: Foreigners with Foreign Language (good)

Eight TFH related fics
Okay, that makes more sense.
I thought you meant eight broad categories of fics on the site as a whole.
