Boltstrike58

Just a guy who found out that a show about talking ponies is a lot better than I expected.

Magic continues to leak from Equestria to the human world. Fortunately, Twilight Sparkle's inventions have been able to track the magic-infused objects, and the Rainbooms set out on yet another adventure.
The bad news is the items have been moved to Gotham City. The seven young women will have to dive head-first into the most crime-ridden city in the country, hoping their magic abilities will be enough to protect them, and hoping they can avoid a confrontation with Gotham's resident vigilante, the Batman.
Then again, trouble has a habit of finding them.

oh, boy, I can already predict what's going to happen. Because our main protagonists are all wearing baclavas, and investigating the old Gotham Opera House, it means that there's going to be a huge misunderstanding. But in a situation like this, Batman should call upon Zatanna for assistance, as she knows her way around magic.

This is going to be good. I can imagine the villains the girls will face. Twilight vs. the Riddler, Rainbow Dash vs. Scarecrow, Pinkie Pie vs. Harley Quinn, Rarity vs. Catwoman, Applejack vs. Killer Croc, Fluttershy vs. Poison Ivy, and Sunset vs. Two Face.

Batman has explicitly requested the Justice League and every hero in his radar to stay the fuck out of Gotham, because:

a) regardless of intentions, heroes tend to attract their own rogue gallery to the area; Gotham has already too many criminals and monsters to bring even more trouble from outside.
b) Bruce ...has too much of an ego to admit he needs help.

Ri2

You never will, Jim. You never will.

And Pinkie Pie, you probably shouldn't have come. They HATE clowns here.

Very little I can say that hasn't already been said better. But, yeah, really good job on the dialogues, characterizations and future chapter set-up. Makes sense that the girls would be investigating some rouge magic and Batman would be investigating an underworld weapons' auction.

Quite true. But then, you (usually) don't see Superman resort to making Metropolis a "no other heroes" zone despite having the same first reason listed. Of course, more than half the time, it seems like the other DC heroes could do better by just retiring and letting the Bat-Family handle protecting the Earth on its own. They'd have a lot less hassles from Waller at any rate. And the Joker has a much poorer track record against Scooby Doo and his friends than he does against any hero that's not a member of the Bat-Family.

Ok I like this .Your going with a BATM vibe and i think that works. I cant wait to see more of this.

If this is meant to be a crossover with BtAS, then it might be early enough in the timeline that the Justice League hasn't been founded yet. Regardless, Batman might be stubborn, but he won't be afraid to call in aid if the situation warrants it.

In any case, if Bruce does call in magical help, it's not Zatanna the Rainbooms should be worried about. Don't forget, Batman counts Etrigan among his associates.

Pretty interesting

Is Spike with them on this adventure too or did they sadly left him out hard?

11907104
This is meant to take place in the Animated Series era, so the Justice League doesn't exist yet. Batman hasn't even met Superman.
11907074
Sadly, I won't be using that many villains, though those are some interesting possibilities.
11907339
I actually thought about starting the story with that intro, along with the intro to the Equestria Girls specials, but I thought that would be too on the nose.
11907423
I couldn't think of a reason they'd be willing to put Spike in danger in this story, and he's smart enough to realize that he wouldn't be of much assistance, so he didn't sneak along with them. I have nothing against Spike the dog, but I couldn't think of a good role for him.

This seems interesting.

"Doesn't mean we'll bump into Bat-Nut," replied Applejack. "Of course, we'd better not run into any of the super-criminals that seem to congregate around this town, either." She shivered. "If we meet that Joker guy, all bets are off."

"How bad can a clown be, Applejack?" demanded Pinkie. Rarity pulled up an article on her phone, and passed it to the party girl. As her eyes skimmed the words, Pinkie's smile was quickly replaced with a nervous frown. "Never mind."

Appropriate reaction.

Honestly, if any of the Canterlot 7 were to just up and justifiable homicide the Joker, it would be in everyone's best interest.

11907506
Batman would still try to stop them, however. Whether that's a positive in his favor or not is very much up to debate.

11907104
Batman: Acts like a loner who trusts no one.

Also Batman: Adopts kids into his life of crime-fighting at will and has one of the more well-known 'family' of allies.

11907495
That is just not fair for him though to be left out like that..
Like why not let him get some kind of powers and such?
Its just rubbing it in that he gets shafted since he didn't get any "chosen ones" powers the Rainbooms gotten with how they left him out.

Like there anyway he can get to join in.?

It's been such a long time since I've seen Batman The Animated Series :pinkiehappy: I watched it quite a bit as a kid. I remember I was 8 when I watched an episode and had a full on panic attack.

Good times :twilightblush:

Bringing it together with Equestria Girls sounds like a great choice, especially given here they're dealing with escaped Equestrian magic. It's so on theme. I look forward to further installments of this. Keep up the good work :pinkiehappy:

11907495
Yeah but Zatanna was in an episode of Batman The Animated Series.

11907582

The bat family are mostly young people he personally trained, influenced and whom defer to him. Grown up Nightwing often complained Bruce didn't allow him to do missions alone.

Like I said, besides the protectionism there is an element of ego.

It's da freaking bat!

11907642
Stop that. You do this on every EqG story you see, even on mine.

KNOCK IT OFF.

11907691
Yeah, but Zatanna wasn't allowed to use real magic in that episode (to keep her from overshadowing Batman) and came off as more of an elaborate illusionist. She wouldn't be allowed to use real magic until Justice League Unlimited's "This Little Piggy".

I like this story. It's a breath of fresh air from what I usually have to deal with. Keep going and take my upvote and favourite!

11907642
*Sigh*
Are we going to have to do this little dance again, or are you actually going to knock it off like a sensible person this time?

11907506
Honestly, I don't think any of the Rainbooms have it in them to kill someone, even as bad as the Joker.

11907495
I know, and as someone whos watched the episodes and read the tie-in comics, someone like Zatanna or Etrigan the Demon would be ideal, more Zatanna than the Demon though, since seeing Etrigan might cause them to try and fight him.

Equestria Girls/ Batman TAS crossover!? :pinkiegasp:

HECK YEAH! :yay: :pinkiehappy:

So this is a crossover with arguably the BEST animated batman series. I've seen several versions over the years, and this one is, by far, the most serious of those. Was a kid when these were new. Some of those episodes gave me bad dreams when I was little. I have to wonder how well the often-upbeat EG world will mesh with that one, but I have high hopes. I'll have to wait on reading this for now, though. I should have been in bed while the sun was still down.

11908563
I was watching an episode of Batman The Animated Series when I was 8, and I had a full on panic attack.

Good times :ajsmug:

Pinkie, in this town clowns are never funny

11911766
I don't remember what it was called but I remembered what happened.

There was this lady scientist who was trying to cure Clayface. In what was the climax I guess, she almost succeeds, but they're interrupted by Batman. Clayface reverts to his usual form. He reaches out a clay tendril, grabs Batman by the neck, and SWALLOWS HIM INSIDE HIMSELF! :twilightoops:

Next thing I know, I can't breathe. I ran to my mom hyperventilating and stayed with her until I mustered up the courage to return to the living room where they were just giving the closing credits.

11912021
I think that episode is called Mudslide.

11912049
Oh is that what it's called. I've been meaning to do a rewatch of Batman The Animated Series like I've rewatched other shows from my youth like Gargoyles, The Angry Beavers, Samurai Jack, and Invader Zim.

11908133
Probably true (except maybe AJ) if we're talking intentionally and not in the heat of battle.

That said, it's high time some cop just popped him for "resisting arrest," or a private citizen justifiable homicides him. If I was the judge trying a case wherein Gordon handcuffed the Joker, brought him into police HQ, and in full view of the department blew his head off, I'd be like, "Uh... community service for Jim."

11907868
I freaking can't, ok.
I can't just bottle it up..

11907948
I am sorry if it really bothers you all that I can't just bottle it up, ok..

"It had to happen sooner or later," said Sunset. "Odds were, we weren't going to deal with magic cell phones and watering cans forever."

Ah yes the magic watering can from "My Little Shop of Horrors" and Vignette Valencia's magic smartphone in "Rollercoaster of Friendship".

"Gotham City Police! You're all under arrest!" roared Detective Montoya.

Renee Montoya! :pinkiegasp:

Now the Rainbooms got Batman on their tail. Let's see how it works out when they finally formally meet. I look forward to Rainbow's reaction since she already seems to be a big fan of his. Looking forward to the next installment. Keep up the good work.

Dude

YES! YOU! CAN!

You saying you CAN’T is the most lamest excuse I have EVER heard

It’s called NOT SAYING ANYTHING.

Literally just don’t say anything about it. It’s THAT simple to do.

Like you doing this over and over again and BAGGING authors to do what YOU want because you don’t like Spike getting sideline is something you CAN control

Pressuring the author when they say they don’t have anything planned for Spike. You need to learn to respect the authors decisions and let them do what THEY want and if they don’t have any plans for Spike, respect that decision

11907948
11907868

I seen him do this a few times myself… and honestly it gets a little annoying and I feel bad for all the authors who have to deal with him begging and begging for Spike to be in the spotlight as well and get some “special powers” when he is just a Dog

11914474
Just block them and move on with your day.

This person clearly holds their pride and personal worth over basic human decency.

Well, we're just jumping headlong into things, aren't we? Hopefully, however, it doesn't take too long for Batman to realize that he and the Rainbooms aren't enemies.

I'm not saying that he's going to go out of his way to hurt them - the DCAU Batman, especially at this point in his career, is one of the more compassionate incarnations of the character, after all - but at this point, he has no idea of their motives behind interfering in the auction, and their abilities do make them a potential danger.

11907423
He's a dog. Pretty useless in a fight. A small dog too. I'd never wanna be so irresponsible that I brought my small dog to this kind of event and got him killed.

11914450
Out of respect for Boltstrike58, I'm going to keep this brief so as not to turn his brilliant story into a flame war.

But it seems to me that you either deliberately like annoying people with your incessant whining, or you simply do not learn. Is that what you like to do for fun, act like an incorrigible dunce for everyone to point and laugh at? Is that why you go to perfectly succinct stories on this site and demand they change things to your whims, despite the obvious downgrade that would be? It literally takes less effort for you to simply say nothing and walk away than it does for you to post inane comment after comment about Spike and why he isn't the main character with all the focus on him. Here's a newsflash for you: It's called "Equestria Girls", not "Equestria Girls and the Dog Who Is There Because Hasbro Needed a Cute Animal Sidekick". Do you have nothing constructive to say other than whinge about Spike's absence or less than main character role? Do all of us, and yourself, a favour and grow up. This franchise may have been intended for young children initially but that doesn't mean you have to act like one. I am so tired of seeing this kind of behaviour from you all over the site. If you want Spike to have such a major role in a story, you should write one yourself. Then you can do whatever you like with Spike to your heart's content. But let this be the last word on it for this story. Understand? No, of course you don't, but I'll say this: Either come up with better criticism and comments than what you've currently got, or shut your cakehole.

Oh, and Boltstrike58, I'm sorry I had to deal with the problem in this way. I hope you continue the story the way you planned it and it grows to be a massive success. I'm keeping an eye on this story, because it merges two of my favourite franchises together and it's exciting to see. Cheers!

I like it when a story blends two franchises together, instead of the usual, Someone wakes up in Equestria, or a portal opening up from one world to the other (Equestria to Human world excluded). Just wanted to say thank you for taking the more original route and blending both worlds in a way that works really well. Can’t wait to see what more you cook up here! We get to see Mr Freeze or Man Bat, maybe? :trollestia:

Hello there. Once again, you did a great job on the dialogue, characterizations, action and future chapter set-up. Definitely liked that one thug's reaction to the fact that none of the known super-criminals currently at large were present at the auction as well as the discussion of the magic weapons and the plan to deal with them and the criminals. And, yes, the reactions to Batman and the Rainbooms' first meeting each other made a lot of sense. And that one thug's observation concerning how they'd rather take their chances with Batman than with super-powered heroines seems kind of odd in hindsight when you consider, later on, most criminals are more afraid of Batman than they are of Superman.

Yes, granted, Superman IS usually the MUCH nicer of the two, but it seems to be common sense to be more afraid of the guy who can bench-press a semi-truck with one hand, melt a twenty-ton tank just by looking at it and laugh off a nuke than the guy who CAN'T - even if the first guy IS usually the much nicer one (even the best of us can have a really bad day, after all, and somebody THAT powerful having a really bad day is an extremely scary thought).

But, anyway, the lead off to Batman and the Rainbooms meeting again was excellent and I hope Batman figures out relatively quickly that the Rainbooms are not trying to make trouble, but are, in fact, trying to minimize it.

At any rate, I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this.

11914726
Oh Batman IS nice. They just found him during work hours when he's serious. ( We don't want to see him... grumpy...)

11914691
Thanks for the compliments. Sadly, I couldn't think of a way to include either of those villains (Freeze doesn't have his robot body yet), but I will be throwing in some favorites!

11915356
Oh well! Whatever the case, keep it coming. It's your story. I shall not dictate who I want to see. You decide what's coming :trollestia:
