Warning: The following story is currently unedited and contains mock trials of various things about MLP and Equestria in general. Readers shouldn't take anything about the following cases too seriously.

Based on Lewis Black's Root of All Evil.

Underneath the school, there is an underground comedy club where students get to hear the student six host a series of mock trials of all the things, places, and characters that annoy or frustrate them. With Spike as the judge and jury, what would he decide to be - The Root of All Evil?

I agree, Las Pegasus is more evil than DIscord.

Discord has no true capacity for evil, because he's chaos incarnate. To be a being of true chaos, he can never commit to acts of outright good or evil and can never really fully pick a side. He tends to teach good lessons more often than not in a chaotic neutral manner and never actually physically harms anyone outright.

Las Pegasus is a place where they have quantifiable numbers of evil actions happening daily with consistency.

Discord can make plans, but he can't perfectly control the chaos he causes. If he could, then it wouldn't actually chaos. His powers are based entirely about not repeating any given action or plan in a day. He can do things to create chaos, but he can't fully control it. Any form of control over his own actions would imply that he's not actually a being of chaos. If he doesn't control his own actions, then he can't choose to be evil.

I can tell this is going to be fun to read.

Spike and the Student Six forming a club sounds like an anime that I've seen before.

Ok this was a fun read, Spike & the Young Six made for a funny combo here!:rainbowlaugh:

Looking forward to the next case!

another fun chapter with a good chance for actual thought and discussion.

If I had to choose, I agree with the verdict.
The fans were intentionally acting the way they were, thus making it more direct and intentionally evil.

Meanwhile, Hearts and Hooves day (Valentine's day) is more unintentionally evil and just a good idea taking too far and merchandised to the extreme. If one could take out all the consumer-aspect of Valentine's day and making it more equal in effort overall between the genders, then it would be a holiday I could fully support, but as it stands now, it is a blight and deserves to be ignored and forgotten.

Yep, totally agree about the Friendship Journal being the worst of the 2, well played! :rainbowlaugh:

Seems Twilight might get wind of this Comedy Club soon, if that last reaction by her's any indication. Also we didn't get to see who the next VS pair's gonna be this time around? :derpyderp2:

Looking forward to the next case! :moustache:

*Watches Discord trying to swallow Shanty from Thems Fightin' Herds*

Huh? Oh, Friendship Journal Fans are definitely deserving the evil title this time.

Hearts and Hooves day in itself is not evil, it's those who take advantage of the day that are evil. So really commercialism is the true evil. If mares are lording the holiday over stallions then that's on the mares and not the day itself. The mares can actually make an effort to make a stallion feel special and not have it be a one-sided affair, but that would require work on their part of what should be a two-way street. (Sugar Belle and Big Mac are a two-way street as they make an effort to do special things for one another.)

Here's another thing though, you don't need expensive gifts to celebrate the day. You can make something by hoof or do something special for your significant other without breaking bank and on a budget whether they be of the opposite sex, same sex or an entire herd. This holiday does tend to favor ponies who have cutie marks that specialize at arts and crafts though.

The day in itself is a normal day, so there is nothing inherently evil about it. It's just how people choose to go about said day and or use the traditions of such a holiday that are the evil. If it requires something else other than itself to be evil, such as people, then it's not actually evil. The traditions can possible be evil, but they were made with good intentions at least.

Friendship Journal Fans are people. Evil is at it's roots in people, also these are people with too much time on their hooves so imagine something like Stephen King's Misery happening. This can happen on Hearts and Hooves day, but it could still be perpetrated by a Friendship Journal Fan and it's not the fault of the holiday that it happened. So really a Friendship Journal Fan is more evil by and large.

Who's the next Root of All Evil?
cause I got a good one.

Yona and Sandbar’s turn. And luckily for you, I haven’t settled on a case yet. What do you got?

Hopefully, Twilight lets it stay.

Or she just makes it an official club and changes the rules of what clubs must be like.

Huh, interesting case this time around. As much as I dislike Blueblood you have to admit Ponyville's the capital for freaky stuff! :twilightoops::rainbowlaugh:

Course I wasn't expecting Twilight to learn about the Comedy Club so quickly, even though she kinda cornered Spike when asking about it I'm glad he at least lay down some rules before spilling the beans, so to speak. Now I can't wait to see what the conversation between Spike & Twilight is gonna go after she saw how it played out! :raritywink::raritystarry:

I’m calling it: Twi’s going to want to be the lawyer next week.

Sorry I'm just picturing Flurry Heart as a Bailiff.

“Comparing to a town full of Looney Toons to a dick is absurd!

Why does this seems like a title for a adult loony toons episode

Sounds interesting I wonder if people are gonna start using ocs in this as examples

Liked it, any chance of sequel?

Well, that went the way I hoped it would. That Fandom was full of idiots!

“He also expects his staff of servants to have a clockwork precision in when to do something and efficiently. In fact, one of the Hoofcolts got fired because he poured the Prince’s tea one second before five o’clock. And a butler was let go because he gave him, one morning, a cup of coffee that had fifty-eight beans by mistake. Not only that, but he once threw ink at one of his bodyguard’s face because he got him the wrong tone of blue ink. Even Twilight’s over obsessiveness would tell him to tone it down.”

That incident sounds familiar. Where have I read that?

Oh, I think there is such a student six in any school or college. Great story! I'll upload all the files to myself and read them. I have always had a hard time with my imagination and I always use https://edubirdie.com/rewrite-my-essay to write something. Usually, I ask them to rewrite my essay, because I'm not doing very well, and you write and write such entertaining stories. Thank you!
