had there been a trial like we wanted, we would have presented all that evidence which would secured a fast conviction.

And this is why Instant Justice was elevated to a minsterial position in the first place. He would've been ideal for hustling people through the courtroom and off to the chopping block in a hurry. When the monarch values speed over accuracy, he's the headsman that'll get things done.

Hopefully his replacement, Hasty Judgement, will serve just as well.

Very nice but also ok

God only knows how the legal system in these fics works. Instant Justice and Celestia have been whacking off heads left and right and then blowing up in indignation at the thought that they might be bad people for not letting anyone have a trial. Celestia apparently feels entitled to arrest, torture, and execute anyone anywhere regardless of any legal norms that exist in our world. She set up her own Hanoi Hilton to tear answers out of the yeti PoWs when they wouldn't give her more than name, rank, and number. That's the kind of stuff that's normally sufficient to tell you that the person doing it is the villain of the story.

Even those judges, whatever they did, would be normally exempt from being prosecuted by her and answerable instead to their own country. The Germans who occupied Belgium during World War I were never tried by the allies despite Germany losing the war; only the Belgian collaborators could be legally punished for their actions during the occupation.

Did anyone else read this in "the newscaster" voice?

So, to recap. Celestia believes going against her is more deserving of death than torturing and killing her subjects? Because that's what she said.

I do not think that's going to go well over with her little ponies.

I think it's more like committing Genocide is more worthy of execution than staging a coup.
