Good story, but I think it loses a little with the author's notes inflating the word count. I believe that if you put it in the author's notes box it doesn't add to your word count, which would let you round out at 1000 words exactly.
You forgot Spikey Wikey he's good for a few words...

Ah, you have stumbled upon my little secret. I wrote this story using a word processor. Microsoft Word to be precise. And the story adds up to exactly 1,000 words. But when I put it in FiMFiction, the word count was higher. After some investigating, and counting the words of my story by hand, I discovered that the counter on FiMFiction is incorrect. Try it for yourself.
This became a moral dilemma for me. Do I have a story on FiMFiction that reads exactly 1,000 words, but I know it was a few hundred short? Or do I publish it with 1,000 words, though it reads more (~1200), knowing that that removes some of the humor?
In the end, as I often do, I created a third option. The text is exactly 1,000 words. But I included the author's notes, which I wrote to be extra long, to obscure the fact that the counter is wrong. Maybe I should have explained this earlier, but this detailed explanation would probably detract from the end result.
Oh well, I am happy with the story, and it is my story that hit 100 and 200 reads the fastest. All this from one night laying in bed and having a really crazy idea!
Keep Writing,

I guess I could have added Spike. But when inspiration hit me, it was just the main six and the CMC. But if you want a silly story with Spike (he doesn't have any lines though), try reading Harmony Death Match.

7628897 Spike would have likely screwed everything up x100.

Hmm.... Maybe I should write a slapstick story centered on Spike. I did have one for Princess Ember in mind, and I did have a epic drama in mind for Spike, but maybe I should write a comedy involving Spike. Hmm.... Let me mull on that for a while.

7628994 You were a better submarine than you were a battleship.

Eh, the battleship created a whole new class of ship. That's why we have "Pre-Dreadnoughts" and "Dreadnoughts." The only other ship to bear the distinction of creating a whole new class is the Monitor.

Well that was something!
Ahh, the infamous word count. Poor dears, they were trying so hard. Good thing we have automatic word counters for these things. Thanks for sharing!
