MLP AU nobility ranks · 12:41am May 18th

To those who read this blog post and its follow-ups, I'm going to elaborate on the nobility ranks. They're all below the monarchy and only the monarch has the authority to grant or revoke titles.

Duke

Duke is the highest rank a nobleman can achieve. It can only be granted to a member of the royal family. The female equivalent is duchess. Children have the honorary titles of Lord or Lady.

Marquis

Marquis is the second highest rank a nobleman can achieve. The female equivalent is marchioness.

Count

Count is the intermediate rank a nobleman can achieve. The female equivalent is countess.

Viscount

Viscount is the second lowest rank a nobleman can achieve. The female equivalent is viscountess.

Baron

Baron is the lowest rank a nobleman can achieve. The female equivalent is baroness.
