Trixie Questions and Changelings in Letters From a Little Princess Monster · 4:52pm Sep 4th, 2023

Was asked in Trixie and Her Amazing Pet Changeling (really good work for 20k words) if I was working on a sequel. Again. Well, I don't write very fast in the first place and I'm trying to pare *down* my ongoing writing pile so I can do other things which include publishable fiction. But I'm not leaving ponies, so put down the inhaler.

We'll see what happens when I get some pending tasks completed. I have (takes deep breath) several neverenders like Substitute Librarian and Farmer Bruener that I'll probably be writing on until I die. Then there's Firebug Freedom 2/3 done, Twinkle Twinkle Speaker to Dragons in the last 2-3 chapters, and Sweetie Belle - Hogwarts Exchange Student as a continuing challenge that will probably pop 100k words by the time I'm done if ever. And of course The Knight, the Fey Maiden, and the Bridge Troll which will run until I have it publishable, along with some non-pony practice pieces including a shifter story.

I do have a thing for putting Trixie in with a changeling, though. I mean within minutes of meeting Thorax in the Crystal Empire, he gets to throw her off a building. With help.

“They threw something,” said Green Grass abruptly.

Trixie whirled to look. “Spike!”

As much as Trixie liked to think she did her best thinking under pressure, a little prep time always helped. A warning, like “Hey, we’re going to throw Spike off a tall tower” would have been really useful about an hour ago. A wave of helplessness swept over her, only to be mopped up and jammed into one corner of her busy brain for later consideration when she had time to panic. Spike was still ascending so she had a few more precious seconds to evolve into an alicorn, or for Spike to finally grow the wings he had always wanted, both of which were complete non-starters. Princess Powercheeks was still too wasted from her troublesome brat-birthing, Shining Armor’s horn was covered in black crystals that prevented him from nearly any magic, and the new chromobug was too much of an unknown factor to pitch him after a falling baby dragon and hope he actually could catch. But…

“Throw me,” gasped Trixie in a rapid string of words. “Throw me now before Spike falls any more and hurry up you idiots THROW ME NO—”

The abrupt departure of Trixie, boosted on a dragon-intercept course by bug, stallions, and princess, left the castle balcony almost silent. Or at least until Green Grass asked, “So, how does she land?”

She's going to stick the landing. Point first, of course. Live fast, die young, have a closed casket funeral seems to be Trixie's motto.

If you leave enough remains for a casket, you're doing it wrong.

Princess Powercheeks

Wait, "they'll never find the body" was meant to apply to another party? :rainbowhuh:

Always need more Monster. More more more.

Trixie will argue with gravity until it gives up and deposits her gracefully upon the ground.
