I don’t quite understand what sources of water they are looking for, especially in winter? they have a river where they fish, or you can just take snow and melt it.

Good point, but most details I like this I try to account for already. Melting snow is what I would usually consider a clan effort, and a costly one. Usually something that has to be decided on by the ring/council. Sending out groups to look for new sources in a relatively expansive, still unexplored, area, is usually a less risky endeavor.
That's also not taking into account the type of clan Snowpitt is, which I would like to soon allude to the different types of clans that have different ways of dealing with snow.
