I don't really go into art with the intent of making smut. It is smut, but that usually isn't the point. Sometimes it's pure indulgence but most of the time what I'm primarily interested in is character growth (in multiple senses of the word). I write about smutty scenarios to highlight some aspect of the character(s) involved with them. If someone gets off to it, then good, I'm glad for them and I can take some pride in that. What I'm always really hoping for, however, is for the emotional core of the story to resonate with the reader.
