On the final day of the traveling carnival, Big Mac decides to ask Fluttershy, however, he needs someone to give him a hand.

That's were Flash Sentry comes in.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders have won the right to carry the Ponyville team flag for the Equestria Games! While Scootaloo finds reason to hope that she may one day fly, Diamond Tiara finds reason to fear the inevitable result of her failure, and a member of the Royal Guard and a young princess decide to take an important step in their relationship, and reveal an important secret to one another.

That's how long it's been since Flash Sentry went MIA during a mission up north. Twilight has been waiting for him to come back, believing he is still alive. However, others are in need of the Princess more than they need a good guard. Twilight is uncertain how she feels around Flash and waits for him to get an answer to her feelings, but when he's been missing for seven months... one might think something has happened.

Flash would readily admit that he’d been looking forward to his assignment in the Crystal Empire much more before the revelation that he’d be directly involved with keeping his boss’s wife safe- it left no room for error if you wanted to keep your job. However, when Cadance stumbles upon him and decides he's going to be her new friend, he's wholly unprepared for the sneaky princess's matchmaking mischief.

Written for the 2015 Everfree Northwest Writing Competition originally, but I fell asleep the night submissions were due and it didn't get approved until after, so I didn't get it sent in... Ah well, no way it would've won anyway.

Twilight’s lunch date with Flash Sentry goes horribly wrong when she accidentally burns the meal she prepared and has to make a replacement.

Families are a wonderful thing. The goodnight kisses from your mother you received as a foal. The ball games you played with your father as a teenager. The warmth, love and compassion that they will always give you.
Twilight loves her family with all her heart, but she isn't so sure she should take Flash Sentry home to meet them just yet. But it's what all the books say she should do, so it's what she should do.
Unfortunately for Twilight, families are also great at embarrassing you. This is a story of family, love, and blazing infernos.

Scootaloo has never been the best of fliers, especially when compared to her parents. But then again, neither was her brother, Flash. For most of her life, they've both been unable to meet the expectations their parents- and everypony else- have set for them, but they've always been able to take comfort in knowing they would face their problems together.

Now, however, things have changed. Flash is not only a member of Canterlot's Elite Guard, but he is also engaged to a Princess. He has become everything Scootaloo has only dreamed of, and yet she still can't even fly.

Will their relationship be able to survive? Or will Scootaloo abandon him forever?

On their wedding night, as they experienced the afterglow of their love making, a young alicorn princess and a young royal guard officer contemplate with each other on how two ordinary ponies such as themselves were blessed with so much.

Was their love by chance, or destiny?

Twilight is called in by Cadance to translate some old books in the Crystal Empire's library. To Twilight's chagrin, Cadance takes the opportunity to try and put her together with Flash Sentry. Twilight is left with no choice but to confront her feelings towards the guardspony.

Twilight wrestles with how do deal with her rapidly developing crush while said crush helps her find her way around the palace of the Crystal Empire. Feelings are hard, especially when you have zero prior experience with this particular sort.

This is a Flashlight fic, but it was written less as a romance and more as a character study on how Twilight behaves when she's got a crush. Cover art is mine.
