Maybe it's offputting to some that I write much more aggressive blogposts but sometimes I just need a way to air out my grievances
In a previous blogpost linked here:https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/848167/writing-feedback-blogexpress-your-dislike-about-fanfics I expressed my opinion that lots of people just up can't accept negative comments or disliking certain things when it comes to fanfics.
I'm sure you've encountered this before. The NPC dialogue tree of toxic positivity.
"Just don't read it."/"If you don't like it don't watch it."
"If you hate it so much why did you read it." or shit like that.
To all the people out there have you considered the fact that I dunno... people have the freedom to express their preferences and opinions? And besides how does it hurt you for them to express it? Sure you can argue whether they're correct or not but pushing away people who express negative opinions is stupid.
So whenever someone responds with "That's just your opinion man..." I just... think that's not particularly smart.
Responding with "shall we agree to disagree?" is also as pointless because you shouldn't ask to leave a conversation when you have plenty of opportunities to do so before.
Yes opinions, preferences e.t.c. are personal but guess what... so long as one isn't a dick about it you can just express them freely. Stopping that and calling it "haters" or "rabid fans" is just nonesense. It just makes you a toxic positivity troll and you know it.
So the next time someone says their negative opinion unless they're a dick about it don't respond. It's ok. They don't like it. You can ask them why but you don't have to change their mind. You don't have to engage in a contest. It's ok...
