People don't like SoarinDash?

Usually, when people didn't like my stories (e.g. this one ), they at least explained why they hated them. With my latest story it's different - it has quite a lot of downvotes, and no one bothered to write a comment explaining why.

One guy (on IRC) suggested it might've been because some readers supporting their own OTP's didn't approve of RD being straight, or because I misspelled Soarin' - he says it should be Soarin, but even mlp.wikia.com has an article about Soarin' - I've always known him as Soarin'. Weird.

I know it's a decent story at most, but I was used to more interactive reaction.

Anyway, I knew that writing a shipfic was a bad idea. I can't say when I will submit another story, though.

P.S.: People seem to love today's Scootaloo's episode - I, on the other hoof, think it was just a decent one (I liked it, but I wouldn't call it 'the best season 3 episode'). Probably because it was more predictable and less random than usual.

Hmm. I can't say I'm a fan of Rainbow/Soarin shipping, but that said I prefer straight shipping, especially with Rainbow Dash.
That said, I'm probably a homophobe, because I'm not the biggest fan of homosexual shipping anyway, especially with Rainbow Dash

They discuss over changing the title to Soarin, but I've always seen Soarin' (they had the article titled this way from the beginning) - I thought it was pretty odd, but hey, I'm not the creator of the character.

I couldn't care less about how people ship Rainbow Dash. Lesbian/straight--seriously, if people are that miffed that it does not go in sync with their beliefs in her sexuality, then they shouldn't be reading fanfiction, because there are going to be fanfictions on everything!

And seriously, not liking it for how you wrote it Soarin' instead of Soarin? If so, I'm going to punch a wall, because that's just dumb! Sorry, but... it's just a punctuation! I'm just saying. I guess you're right that shipping fanfictions are totally risky, though. Not only will there be fans who don't support the pairing that don't like it, but also there are very picky fans of the pairing who won't like how it's portrayed even if you thought it was brilliant. Which is why I don't really bother with it--it's too much of a hassle (I was writing one at one point but eventually walked into something else) for me.

And I agree that today's episode was okay. I liked Princess Luna's appearance, though. What can I say? Luna is best Princess.

Oh, thanks, but it's not that dislikes make me feel sad or something (they do, but I can totally handle it ) - I conceived the story as a good one, and readers' reaction was not only surprising, but also unusual, when compared to any of my previous stories.
And I don't like Soarin too - I just didn't want to ship RD with Spitfire here

1) Rainbow is OOC with Soarin'
2) Pretty rushed

Sounds fair.
1) I rather agree (but... we actually don't know how she would act in such a situation In 'sonic rainboom' she had a weird 'ohmygosh' reaction, when she saw the W-bolts )
2) I need to agree - but I wanted it to be a short story - looks like it didn't work out well.

On a side note - I think most of my stories are rushed and have some ooc characters, they have much better likes-to-dislikes ratio, though, and that's what confuses me about 'Rainbow Stratos'.

1) Yes, but that was when she saw them. After being with them for a while, that died down.
