    1950s Sci-Fi Review Bundle (Part 2/?)

So, uh, been a hot minute since I followed up on that little 50's movie review thread I started a while back, huh? Guess my narrative writing isn't the only thing that suffers from sloth. Or rather, I've been sluggish and getting around to posting my mini-reviews here, really, I've already had them written

Evil Celestia writing doodle · 5:44pm Jun 22nd, 2021

Every once in a while I'll whip up a short literary "doodle" of sorts. Here's one I did just today.

With a last deep breath, Celestia pushed open the doors and stepped into the chamber beyond to confront the tyrant; the twisted other version of her that had enslaved Equestria. The monster who had inadvertently sown legions of rebels with her cruelty, the same ones that had almost killed Celestia when she’d accidentally arrived.

It all led to this moment.

She stepped in…and stopped cold.

Standing at the far end of the room, looking out the window, was a tall white alicorn with a flowing mane and tail, colored as if with a rainbow. She wore golden horseshoes, a golden peytral, and a golden crown atop her head. A cutie mark of the sun adorned her flanks.

For a moment Celestia looked for any sign of outward corruption, any obvious sign that this was some twisted version of her. She found none.

She looked just like her. Exactly like her.

Then the doppelganger turned, and smiled a warm smile that Celestia herself often wore. Only now it somehow gave her chills to see it on the face of her living, dark reflection.

“Ah, there you are,” the doppelganger said. “I’ve been waiting. Now I know you’ve probably had questions since you came to this world and accidentally took my place. Don’t worry. I’ll answer them. Have a seat. Let me tell you everything. And who knows? You may end up learning some good lessons.”

Whoof. That was creepy all right. :twilightoops:

I am reminded, very strongly, of the line from Hamlet: "One may smile, and smile, and be a villain."
