Up next, more moms. · 3:29am Jul 20th, 2020
The next story I'm going to start posting eventually is called The Mom Adventures (a working title) it'll follow the main moms on adventures they had when they were young. It won't be a clopfic, just a good ol' meat and taters slice of life adventure story. I'm still working on the adventure ideas but one of them includes a "moon cult," a cult of Nighmare moon worshippers who will try to bring her back. Most of the main moms have little to go on as far as their personalities are concerned, so I'll have to do a lot of "fleshing out" myself. I don't plan to start posting it for possibly quite awhile but here's an expert introducing Night Light's father (a work in progress subject to change):
"Yea 'NIGHTY', " there were a couple of guards at one of tables who mocked him. "Why don't you ask your marefriend to protect you?"
Night hung his head in shame, but Velvet wore a cocky smirk. "What are you egg heads reading huh?" She jabbed.
"Egg heads?" They didn't like that, "you better watch your mouth Twilight."
"Why?" She sneered, "you big strong guards gonna' arrest me for hurting your feelings?"
"Why you little-"
"Knock it off!" Came a deep and piercing shout, every one of them turned towards it.
It came from an imposingly large unicorn. He was a deep shade of royal purple, his mane and tail tightly cut and golden blonde. He had large and angular chops that ran down his prominent jawline. He was dressed in a regal red jacket hemmed in gold and topped off with a royal blue sash.
"Captain Blazing!?" The guards quickly sprung from their seats and rushed to stand at attention before him.
"You represent the royal guard that has defended princess Celestia for a thousand years..." He sternly glared down at them, "act like it."
"Y-yes sir!" They rigidly saluted.
"What are you doing in here?" He coldly followed up.
"We were," the guard on the left anxiously glanced at the other, but he wouldn't acknowledge him. "We're on a break Captain!"
"Your break is over, get back to your posts."
"Yes sir!" They shouted and trotted off in a hurry. The captain watched them leave and then continued his advance towards the desk.
"Uh-oh," Velvet thought. She glanced at Night Light and sure enough, he was already shaking like a leaf.
The captain stopped in front of the desk and cast his punishing glare down upon his son. He didn't say anything at first. He shot a disapproving glance at Velvet, who fearlessly returned it.
"I told you, you aren't working at the library anymore." Blazing sternly barked.
"Why don't you let Night do what he wants to do?" Velvet snapped, "he obviously isn't built to be a guard."
Several small groups of onlookers chuckled to Night's dismay. She hadn't intended to word it like an insult, "I mean-" she hastily corrected "he doesn't want to be a guard!"
"My father was captain of the guard." Blazing forged on, "and his father, and his father's father... It's in his blood. All he needs is food and discipline!"
Night was completely incapable of meeting his father's cruel glare, and it hadn't left him once since he'd started speaking. It was like a heavy weight that held his head down.
"Your mother gave you that weak name... Night Light, " Blazing grimaced. "I wanted to give you a strong name, Burning Light!"
Velvet snorted next to them. Blazing quickly turned a furious glare towards her.
"I mean, " she tried to keep her humor under control "isn't "burning" and "blazing" more or less the same thing? I mean, it's not very original at least."
His furious glare loosened, "as much as I would like to teach you a lesson in respect, Twilight, I will not dishonor the guard."
He turned his ire back towards his son. "You may finish your shift today, for to leave now would be to abandon your post... however insignificant the duty may be." Without another word he turned and left, his sudden lack of presence seemed to leave a void in the room.
