Howdy all!
I just dropped another bout of updates - the next chapter of Fairport Incident, Story of Sharon, and Redux to be precise. I’m super proud of all of these, and I’m super happy with the direction everything is going. I thought, therefore, that I’d take a moment to talk about the direction the Reduxverse is going in. Or at least, as far as I can tell you all without spoiling what’s coming.
First off; Redux is no more and no less than a fantasy war-story. When I started work on 2.0 I believed three things - that the Spectrumverse needed to have the conflict front and centre, that the story’s main character was Lyra Heartstrings and should be devoted to her journey, and that certain things that were lacklustre in the original (namely the lacklustre, pointless portrayal of the HLF and the utter pathetic incompetence of the Solar Empire) needed to be repaired as a matter of utmost importance.
Those were my personal goals, and I stick by them. So far, I’d like to hope all of these things remain on track with Redux, and I’m pledging myself to continuing on that course…
…with one rather important caveat.
You see, as you’ve possibly noticed, from Chapter Sixteen onwards, the story is now credited with a ‘Writing Team’, namely myself, Doctor Fluffy (of The Light Despondent fame), RoyalPsycho (who helped me out on Avatar of Albion and its related works) and TheIdiot, main writer on SPECTRUM. These guys have… well, to put a none too fine point on it, these guys have had my back for years, and supported me on the difficult road (made moreso by me I’m afraid) to, I guess, accepting that the Reduxverse is valid, as opposed to being just a vanity exercise. That realisation was a long time coming, but when it came, they supported me, and they have all offered to continue helping write Redux as it continues onward.
That being the case, Redux must and will reflect that these guys have their own objectives, so to speak, with the story. TheIdiot has characters and themes he wants to explore in Redux while he’s working with me on it, RoyalPsycho has story elements and ideas that he helped fashion with me for the original 2.0 ideas that he’s still keen for me to use even as it gets used for 2.0, and Doctor Fluffy… well, he’s Doctor Fluffy 😂 The man’s a bloody marvel.

They and I continue to discuss our ideas for stuff going forward. Between you, me, and the rest of the internet (this is a public blog post after all 😂) there’s some truly exciting stuff awaiting.
And there are always, as someone wise once said, possibilities…
