I received a response back about Between Bassdrops and Bowstrings from the Equestria Daily pre-reader. And it's a mixed bag. My fic was rejected, but the pre-reader really enjoyed it. He suggested a series of things to fix -- things I'd never even considered, like "head hopping" between POVs during a chapter, to small parts where it becomes hard to distinguish between two characters talking.
The great news is that he told me to fix these issues and then re-submit the story! So, after the next chapters of Legacy and Amorphous are complete, I'll be taking a brief hiatus to focus my attentions on editing BBaB to (near) perfection. The story isn't without flaws, I know that. It's got pacing problems early on, a few janky chapters, and one or two other small issues. However, those errors are much grander and will need far more care... For now, I want to get it up to the standards of Equestria Daily before I start foaming at the mouth about my own issues with the story.
With any luck, my story might be put onto Equestria Daily before we even know it.
I wish you luck dude

Thanks. This is a big project to undertake; the story is loooong and a lot of editing will be needed to make sure it's up to snuff.

I can imagine
I believe in you that you can make it.
Huh, they weren't caustric?

I was surprised too. I'd heard things about their reputation as venomous, but the response was actually very polite. It opened like this:
Had several very long paragraphs giving me detailed editorial advice in a polite and concise manner, then ended with this:
It was a very professional and uplifting email and I'm hopeful moving forward that I'll be able to get it done right.

Thank you! Once it hits Equestria Daily, maybe my story will get a little more recognition.

The important thing is to be professional, and there's no such a thing as perfection.

Maybe not the best metaphor, but I kinda just wrote what came to mind. I am, however, also very professional, so there's no worries there.
Well, I'm unfortunately the son of a full-time perfectionist, so it's hard-wired into my bloodstream like fire to a grill.
