Some people have too much time on their hands.

Wow. Those Pixel Artists should get medals...............

No yeah, the pixel art some of these people create IN GAME are nothing short of MASTERPIECES.

I think there's a way to put pictures into the game to pixelate them, but I could be wrong.

Some people do it by hand. Others... use extra hardware.

I didn't quite get that last one at first, but then it clicked and I almost choked on my drink.

Yeah, I've been starting to suspect that as well.

The drawing feature was in Splatoon 1 as well via Miiverse, and it was the most popular usage of the platform. In fact, Splatoon 1 player base dropped significantly when Miiverse got canned because it was such a huge part of the game.

They essentially remade part of Miiverse to get this feature back for Splatoon 2, and then stuck it on a Twitter API. So this feature will stay as long as Twitter stays up.

Also, some of these drawings will show up in other places in-game, as graffiti on walls etc. I'm not sure whether that depends on the post getting Yeah!'ed, or it just happens to random posts.

One of my favorite art pieces was one done by Agent CH, which was done before the wizards vs knights splatfest. It had an inkling using splat bomb rush that looked like Megumin yelling “Ex-Plosion!”
Truly, a masterpiece.

Just in case you are not aware, since it seemed as though you were confused about it, that one oekaki with Garfield is actually a reference to a parody video. Just in case you didn't know.

Also, thanks to you I now know these drawings have an actual name.

Or until Twitter changes its API and causes the feature to suddenly break for some dumb reason. And you know that can and most likely will happen, just look at how restricted the API is for third party Twitter clients.

how does one use this feature?
