What a cynical way to begin the year..... Get down on your flank, direct your hooves to the keyboard and write! Yes, that's a command. Being unmotivated does not count as excuse for giving up a fic.
It's more common than you think. Getting demotivated is often a reason for authors stopping to write. And in such a case, being a bit stern and serious and to be a bit loud is more likely to work than trying to ask a whole lot of questions. There is a time to be gentle and there is a time to be strict. I think your problem is more something for the latter.
4364874 Well, I don't know how to fix whatever it is that's wrong with me. I'm probably unmotivated because I hate this story. I might as well start a new one and do that. Somehow.
One of your tags indicates that this happened before as well, with other stories you have written. It sounds to me like you're having problems with writing longer stories that go across multiple chapters. My suggestion would be to continue with this story and to push through. If it really happens so often, you must do the step to break through this. It's a problem that won't get solved by always cancelling stories and trying it with new ones, only to cancel those too then. Look over this story and try to fix the problem with the plot. I will also assist you with that if you want me to.
Edit: I see you indeed cancelled a lot of stories that were supposed to be multi-parters, but I have also seen that you got better at it, you came at least to a second chapter with "World Lampshade" and you wrote a lot of chapters for this one. Whatever problem you have with multi-parters, you got better at it definitely. Don't give up now!
Hey now, I only canceled those stories because no one seemed interested in them until after I canceled them. This is a whole different scenario. Stretching a plot I came up with halfway through writing over thirteen chapters is awful and has driven me to quit right before the final chapter. I hate this story. I hate this pairing. I just hate.
I might go back to one of the other stories if I can come up with an actual plot for them. This one? I'll probably only update as a joke.
Now I just need to pick which story to move onto. aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
4369938 I stopped liking where the story was going far too late to pull out of what was going on. So, I'm giving up before the story is complete. Literally just before. A chapter before, even. And now I move on to
4369965 Still... For what I read on the comments you cancel your stories a lot. With this one you could just make a ending. A weird one but still an end
But why?
Why the cuss did you cancel such a beautiful work?!
CRIES
My nightmares came true

Well, that sure is a way to make me start writing it again. Assume I'm unmotivated and yell at me,

I stopped caring about the story and stopped having a plot at around chapter 6. My ideas ran out.

I think I'll pass for now. I have much more well developed stories to cancel now. Whenever I get the time to work on them.
4370077 When you feel the story is too long and it lost its magic tie it up and end it while it still has qualities
4370078
I should have done that about five chapters ago then.
