The 4Kids TMNT series is awesome · 1:53pm Aug 24th, 2016
Over the course of the past week, I sort of marathoned all 136 episodes of the 4Kids TMNT series, as well asThe the Mayhem from Mutant Island! special and Turtles Forever (the crossover between that series, the '87 cartoon, and the original comics version of the turtles), and over the course of watching it, I was asking myself one question: How come I didn't watch it sooner?
I mean, I was about 6 when it first aired, so it should have appealed to me, but for some reason, I only got around to watching it last week.
Everything about it is awesome, and the theme song (the first one anyway) is catchy and got me pumped for each episode.
The Fast Forward season is probably the weakest of the 7, but it was still pretty entertaining.
And Turtles Forever was pretty fun too, and here are just some scattered observations I had while watching it (Keep in mind that I still have not watched the original cartoon, or read the original comics):
Dan Green voiced '87 Leonardo, and his voice is not suited for that character design. It was a surreal experience, though.
The voices for the other '87 turtles fit them okay
The Utrom Shredder (aka the first Shredder from the 4Kids series) was more threatening than '87 Shredder, but the old Shredder is definitely amusing to watch.
I wish they had used the Back to the Sewer designs of the '03 Turtles (these) instead of the fast forward designs (these).
'03 Splinter looks better than the '87 Splinter.
Jason Griffith voiced Mirage Leonardo, and his voice definitely fits that kind of character much better.
My only major complaint about it is that more time wasn't spent in the Mirage dimension, but that's about it.
This show was awesome. Another Nostalgic cartoon I remember watching was Sonic the Hedgehog.
4361004 I saw that a few years ago, actually.
4361075 Me too.
4361075 Hey do you think that SEGA should instead make a Sonic game base on this instead the ones they keep popping out?
4362435 It would be fun to see, but I don't think it would automatically be a better idea.
4362820 Why wouldn't? It could be called "Sonic: Resistance".
Ah I remember TMNT 2003 and it did get some time getting used to it since it is closer to the comics than '87 version of cartoon. But yeah definitely loved that cartoon but I stopped watching around Fast Forward because I lost my interest and because well my
glorious post-communistcountry was slow getting episodes at timely manner and by that time was in highschool.Turtles Forever I liked and it did great job sending off '03 turtles but the old fans of '87 didn't like it because of flanderization of their turtles by making them more sillier and turtles themselves were kinda same minus the 4th wall breaking gag. The old cartoon of course was silly Saturday morning cartoon but it wasn't that silly and at least I never remembered any 4th wall breaking. Still enjoyed Forever and the '87 cartoons.
Never read comics but from what I gather the Mirage are really different. And then you have everybronies favorite IDW publishing with comics closer to cartoons but again never read them.
Oh and there is that 2012 series now but eh didn't watch it that much because CGI. From what little I saw it is much closer to '87 incarnation with focus much more being on mutagen/ooze and return of Krang(s).
4453923 Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers are still pretty good, just not as good as the other seasons.
As for the 2012 series, it's actually really good. Not quite as good as the 2003 one, but I think it's better than the 1987 one.
4454114 I guess I just didn't like that big change of premise and also never liked when shows add kid/teen character to appeal to the audience.
And yeah that's fair, '87 was product of it's own silly time and can't compare with more story driven shows with actual development. I agree that 2003 is probably best.
4454151 I think the changes were made just to distinguish the 2012 one from the other two, plus I tend to look past those kinds of things as long as the stories are good.
4454157 Oh sorry I meant in the Fast Forward. Don't mind the change in 2012.
4454224 Ah.
Yeah, that did take some getting used to, but I still think the story of Fast Forward was pretty good, despite that.
I loved that series of Turtles so much that I pretty much did not watch any of the 2012 version for quite some time since I was annoyed and upset that they ended it.
All of the seasons I loved, I also found Fast Forward really interesting to watch as I still occasionally watch that whole season.
Still wished they did a Xover with both the 2012 and 2003 versions just to appease the fans of that season of Turtles more who miss it.
This is a MLP site. Why are you talking about TMNT?

People talk about none MLP stuff in their blogs all the time

Ok. New to this site, so just a little confused.
My favorite episode was 'Same as it never was' The one when Mikey had one arm and was all badass. I still go back and watch that episode every now and then.
It is a pretty good show, for the first four seasons at least. The fifth season got really weird, and the two sequel series' brought down the show's legacy hard.
It was. It really was.

I remember something like that playing on Boomerang! Didn't seem like it had an ending in sight, though. It felt like it was just a never-ending journey to save the kingdom from Robotnik's forces.
When i saw the turtles turn unto to dragons, i was blown away, that was the coolest thing i've ever seen from the TMNT franchise.
