    Quick Update

Huh, haven't really said a word on my page for a while now, have I?

Well, I'll just quickly sum up what I've been working on after the break.

Well this is frustrating (Rise of the Seraphim update)

Ok, I'll get right to the point.

Rise of the Seraphim is most likely gonna get a reboot.
    Keyword being likely.

Explanation after the break. Minor spoiler alert, in that I will be discussing some of my original intents with the story, but ultimately, with the reboot, they won't matter anymore.

    Name Change

Well, just a very quick blog post announcing a name change.

Yeah... was quite some time ago that I dubbed myself "Swiftest Shadow", when I was a little more... naive, I suppose would be the word for it.

Suffice to say, it was not a name that inspires confidence in my ability to write or edit.

    It Begins

    Prologue has finally been uploaded!

Well, I had called it a revision, but at this point, I think reboot would be a much more accurate description. Practically new everything from the original upload I had.

    Progress Update

Just thought I'd drop a quick note here.

I ultimately decided to un-publish Chapter 1 and 2 of the story Rise of the Seraphim, because honestly, I feel ashamed for how bad they were.

I realized there's a bit of a plot hole in the way the Prologue has ended. Trouble is it's severe enough that there may be no way of circumventing or filling it.

For the record, currently, the prologue ends with Rarity having finished writing a letter and then Rainbow crashing in asking for help to save Twilight, who they both presumably only just discovered was getting executed the next day.

Several problems with this. I had originally intended for them to try to rescue her during her public execution. But if it were public, they wouldn't have it without an announcement of sort several days in advance (especially for such a public figure), and it would then have been impossible for Rarity to have been ignorant of the fact, especially with how much of a rumour and gossip mill Canterlot is. Somepony would've come in to rub it in her face. Even if it is just a rumour, Rarity would have heard about it and would have checked it out on her own. In fact, it's far more likely that Rainbow, being part of the military-esque Wonderbolts, would've been kept out of the loop.
Now, I've not explicitly stated in the story that it's a public execution. Maybe the information has been leaked to Rainbow somehow. So, then if we are to assume the execution would be done with no public audience, it would create its own set of problem. First off, the disappearance of one of Equestria's princesses will be unlikely to go unnoticed, and a secret execution would be seen more as a sanctioned assassination. Political implications aside, it also makes it practically impossible for Rainbow and Rarity to launch a rescue of any sort. Not impossible, but it would likely require the audience to be willing to swallow a huge pill about their abilities and the security's ineptitude, which frankly would make for rather poor narrations. But, if I am to keep the original start of the story, this would be the only way to do it. The trouble is, it would force quite a few plot changes later in the story as well.
Except this alternative also brings about a new problem. If the execution was to be made in secret, why not just cover up the entire incident? Now, without spoiling too much of the actual plot I had intended, I will say Celestia would not have wished for Twilight to die. Now, I had intended for the circumstances to give Celestia no choice, and those same circumstances would also have forced the execution to be public. Except that a public execution no one has heard even a rumour of until the day before makes no sense. Thus we're back where we began.

So, ultimately, this means that the original conditions I've started the story with no longer fits. I will have to change the way the story starts. And I likely will need to rethink the overall plot too. A lot of it relied on this flawed premise (as you can probably guess, something would have gone wrong), and keeping the entirety of the original story would feel forced.

I will emphasize, though. I haven't yet decided what to do with this plot hole. For now, though, this is just an update and my thought process on the matter.
... Oh, and while I'm still on this subject, I may need a different title as well, if the focus of the story shifts enough.

It goes without saying though, progress on the story is halted until I figure this out.
I will post another update once I've decided on a course of action.
