    Glimpses 2 - Now Complete

Though it was a day late, hopefully, it's not a dollar short. I've posted the final chapter of Glimpses 2! I hope everyone enjoys the last chapter and enjoyed the story as I whole. I would also like to thank everyone that submitted suggestions to my blog about a month ago. The anthology would not have been nearly as interesting without your input!

Luna's Hoard · 6:24pm Jul 19th, 2014

So, ladies and gentlemen of the internet, let me impart on you some knowledge before I get to the real meat of this blog. Trust me, it will help fill you in on the context.

So, when you order anything from a printer, there is a standard policy in the industry called "Over Run." If you order, for example, a 1000 business cards, you will likely get 1100 delivered in the mail. Most printers will normally prints 10% more than what you order. Why do they do this? Its to cover the inevitable issues that can happen when printing things in mass. The extra 10% is meant to account for individual posters, business cards, or books that are damaged to the point of being unusable or unsellable.

Now, when we did the first printing run of Past Sins, we ordered 937 books. An impressive number. The printer delivered that many and about another 100 books, and all 937 went out to their happy owners and everything was right in the kingdom of humanity.

But of all the books delivered, only 25 were damaged to the point they had to be thrown out. Another 18 or so had damaged dust jackets, and a few of the spares had to go out to cover issues with shipping. Still, if you add those numbers up, that doesn't equal the 100 some spare books that were sent by the printer.

These spare books have been named by Equestria Publications team as Luna's Hoard, and for a year now they've had the hoard tucked away in a basement in New Hampshire. Well, with the sign ups for the second printing officially started, it was decided by the Equestria Publications team that it was time to release Luna's Hoard.

So, over on Ebay, you can now grab some of the last remaining copies of the first printing of Past Sins. They are up there right now, just waiting to be snatched. Some are missing their dust covers, but otherwise they are in good condition. Again, these are the last copies of the first printing, which is a limited edition that includes the side-story First Hours as well an art section. Things that will likely not be included in the second printing if it gets enough signups to happen.

Also, before anyone asks, the money from this is not going to me and I am not the one selling the books. If you want those kind of questions answered, you'll have to ask the seller, Illustrious Q.

Beyond that, I'm just passing along the message. Have at it. :derpytongue2:

P.S. I'll update this blog if/when the Luna's Hoard copies sell-out.

UPDATE: And it's all over folks. They are all gone. Poof. Less than a full day and you all just made them disappear. So, thanks for playing I guess. Peace.

I have to admit, that's a really cool cover!

So that's why my printer always prints an extra copy.

Awesome! Nabbed one! :pinkiehappy:

Oh boy, amazing! I'm gonna...
*looks at page details*
*no shipping to Iceland*
:raritydespair:

Sixty bucks for a first edition (with the dust cover)? Good lord, not even some college tomes cost that much!

If/when 2nd edition gets greenlit, could you make a blog post about it? Not sure if I'm gonna get this or a 2nd edition- probably this.

2299868 now add 50$ for shipping to israel.
while i want the book i don't want it that much

Well that is indeed cool :rainbowwild: The only thing (actually made me cringe) is the price... I mean, it's a great, AWESOME story, but $60 for a book + shipping is still... :twilightoops:

I do have one question though... The second edition... Do you have ANY estimate if it'll also carry such a hefty price tag? :rainbowderp: I mean... I'm not exactly made of money like some bronies seem to be (judging by the price stuff is sold in the auctions at cons...) but I would really like to own a copy of Past Sins... :scootangel:

Oh dear celestial i can't wait for my next pay :)

Nice. Still, glad I ordered my First Edition. Just need to get it signed by peeps at Bronycon. XD

Ughgh why ebayyyyy!!!! Why not Amazon. I'l still get it, but still.

Sigh...
I JUST spent what's left of my money three hours ago... :fluttershysad:

Past Sins is a book now?

This is absolutely beautiful. If I hadn't already picked up a copy I would grab one now.

I did notice a small grammar error in the first run. Page 131 is missing a comma between the names "Tootsie Flute and Peachy Pie" Under the header Ponyville Residents & Everfree Forest Trees. This could be a in universe error because it is in the script.

May I ask why the second edition doesn't have the extra's?

Ah, it's tempting, but $70 seems expensive (I paid that much for the second printing of FO:E, but that's besides the point). I know you're not the one to ask about this, but is the money at least going to a charity or something. That might convince me.

Why must I not have money when these things happen? :raritydespair:

Is there a difference between the first edition print and the second edition print?

2300304 The second edition won't have the side story or the art section. Everything else (The chapter pictures, fonts, etc) will still be there.

:yay: ordered one, can't wait!

2300324 Ah, so things got removed. I was able to grab a first edition but I was just curious to see.

Woah, I hope there are some left by the time I get home from work.:unsuresweetie:

2300099 Been one for a long time now.

So Past Sins is up there with Fallout Equestria. Looks like the best of the best fanfics will ascend into books.

Is there any quality assurance that the book and that +$30 dust cover are in mint condition? I could just get the plain book version. That dustcover is overpriced.

Can we get a firm count on how many books are left and updated pictures as to the quality of the books? It's been a year in storage after all.

I'm torn between this or a PSVita for this month...

You know, I'd a bought a copy already if the book itself was 45. I don't mind the shipping fee added to it, but $66.16 on top of mmos, netflix, and stuff... it's kinda hard to justify paying more for this than I did for my last book. Which was $45.

I'll check back later. 1200 dollars is a lot of money for something they have ya for free. And that's just 20 books supposedly with the dust covers. If none of this money is going towards you or the artist of that cover art that's being charged 30 bucks, or be used to commission newer art or comics even, in short support you further in your stories, I'm going to just have to bow out. At least with Prancy I knew where the money was going.

I'm dead tired right now so take this with a grain of salt. Might buy one anyways if any are left unsold I guess. For now, I'd rather let the diehards get a crack at something that would only really sit on my shelf after single pass.

For all wondering on a second edition or not, I highly recommend getting one of these instead. Though, personally don't see why the second edition won't have anything new of its own. Pretty sure if you offer only what's readily available on fimfic, people will just stick to fimfic. Just saying.

not all of the first run printing was delivered successfully... I ordered it and it was misshipped somehow and the post office lost it. And couldn't get another one/ so while this is more expensive, especially considering I have already paid once, I may finally be able to get my copy!

Wow! So ordering these when my mom gets home. she's taking my youngest brother to soccer practice right now. but when she gets back, I'm ordering 2 copies!:yay:

just ordered one of Luna's hoard, I guess I'll be giving away the second printing when I get it. xp

2300324 do you know if the dust jacket will be the same?

Why couldn't this happen next month. I got bills dammit.

Probably going to regret this but I got the $60 version but man with $10 shipping this is one expensive book.

I'm proud to say I just spent $70.66. Can't wait to see it in the mail.

I want one so baaaaad-
Only if I had those money :ajbemused:

2300839 I'm not really involved with the project, but most likely yes.

I would still ask on their website to make sure, :twilightblush: but I'm sure it will.

 It is done.

The magical balance of you selling the book and me actually having money have occurred. It shall be glorious! :pinkiehappy:

Wait, so how does this affect those that signed up for the second printing then? Are we going to be automatically removed from the list if we get one of Luna's Horde? I don't want to ruin other's chance at getting a copy by my own selfishness!

2301272

If you no longer wish to participate in the second printing, then just let me know and I will remove you from the list.

2301289 probably so, since I put in for this one. ;)

You dastardly man, right when I don't have $75 to toss out. GARGH!

Whelp, the diehards had their chance. Got myself a copy. I'd imagine only 20 or 30 left so if anyone wanted a complete book, and happens to be a collector, now's the time.

Now to go splurge the rest on amiami and save up next month for spending money on a DT plushie dressed as Cure Black, because Cure Black is best Cure. Or just get a Diapplootiespoon made but that'll cost way more due to going over three colors. :pinkiecrazy: (no one ever seems to be able to get the bounce in the mane right... not to mention the tiara. :ajbemused:)

I'm not really sure what exactly Past Sins is. I've seen a fic called Past Sins I do believe. Was it published into an actual book, or is this something entirely different?

I made it!
Got one!
My only regret is that 100$(with shipping) is quite a big sum back here in Poland.

Damn it I need fucking money. Shit damn it.

This why I need a credit card. I have the cash, and I would have been more than happy to pay $100 for a first edition copy of Past Sins, but here I sit unable to do a damn thing... Ffs, just seeing the book on eBay made my day, but now I know that I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting my own copy, ever. Not going to lie, this probably ruined my vacation for this year. Had I been at home, I could have driven to the store to buy a pre-paid credit card, but because I'm in the middle of nowhere... I'm going to stop talking now.

If anyone has a first edition copy of Past Sins that they're willing to part with, pm me.

2302304

You can always sign up for a second edition. The more people will sign up the better chance that it will be printed.

2302342 won't be the same, besides, there's still the issue of having a way to pay online. I'm going to be out of town for the rest of the summer, and when I get back I have to finish my Eagle Project because I turn 18 on September 25. this Summer has been stressful, to say the least.

Wow, one day and they're all gone. So glad I grabbed one yesterday.

I'm very happy right now. I've wanted one of these for ages. Depending on the condition of the Luna's Hoard copy (it said 'brand new', so I'm sure it'll be fine), I may or may not get the second edition. If I end up with two, I'll just sell one online or at the next Everfree for like ten bucks or something.

Thanks again for making such an awesome story!

2301450 same here. i live in Australia and it cost me $109 (including shining). i was lucky my mum was willing to take the time to help me order it

Glad to hear some more ponies were able to get a first edition!
I myself was glad to have received mine with the initial purchase... So worth it! :rainbowkiss:
I didn't even have to trade Fluttershy for it! :yay::rainbowlaugh:
