Story Ideas: Spike and the Quest to End Eternity · 3:59pm Dec 18th, 2013
So I've got 2 more ideas floating around in my head. This one is a Spike story. It takes place far off in the future after Celestia's sun has fallen to the passing of time. Spike is the only one who remains unscathed from the passing of time. In a world that lacks warmth there is only one thing that keeps Spike going on. Three small words from a face he no longer remembers.
"Spike, live on."
This is his story, told in the past, present and future as Spike fights a losing battle against time itself. To preserve what little memory remains of the light.
First Look
I was dreaming...
Of what I cannot remember but one thing is certain.
It... was such a peaceful dream.
Ever so slowly I open my eyes, casting a gaze upon the last source of light this frozen wasteland has to offer. I can see them now, the shadows… Millions upon millions; crawling from every crevice, inching their way toward the light. Maggots... Festering in the darkness they crawl toward the light. A light that they shall never reach.
With great effort I begin to unfurl my wings, losing countless shards of ice. The shadows falter... for a moment. They know the price of the light yet they cannot keep themselves from desiring it. In a single beat of my wings I am sent skyward, high above the faint ball of light. The shadows quicken their pace, their efforts are futile.
An intense heat begins to build in the heart of my being and I open my gigantic maw. They wish for light? I will grant them the light. The heat spills forth from my being unto the land below and the shadows dance in a fury of emerald light. Those that hung back begin to slink back into the shadows as I breathe outward again, eager to bring more into my symphony of light and shadow.
Within seconds they are gone and with it my flames. They will not try again this night. My little light will be safe. With that thought I descend from the sky, back to my place. Where I can gaze at the wavering light that I protect.
Unfortunately I really don't think I can actually start this one any time soon. I don't want to try to manage multiple serious stories at once. One will probably just haitus or something. So I was wondering if I should just wait or should I collaborate with someone or maybe even just give it to a good writer IDK @_@. Story still requires heavy world building and I'm unsure of how I want his memories to progress. During what would be the night Spike is awake and battling against these shadows. During what should be day he is sleeping and while he sleeps his mind is desperately searching for something... He relives moments of his life but has no memory of them when he wakes. I kind of want Past Spike to be on a quest for something and the Present Spike in the future begins to do the same. both coming to their resolutions at the same time. Perhaps it tells the story going further back in time as it progresses.
