    Leftover Story Ideas

These are all the stories I had put a little bit of thought or idea into that I'm now laying out here as I have no intention of writing more. Some ideas had more thought put into them than others, but what I'm putting here is essentially just random notes or outlines at best. I don't think anyone will get inspired or anything but if you do then feel free to do whatever you wish with these ideas.

    That's All

I am now done with writing fanfiction. I have written everything I wanted to write and I am now moving onto other things. I will not be leaving the site or anything like that, I’ll still be around, reading and commenting if I feel the need to. But I don’t plan to write anything else. If I do it will at most be some silly one-shot or a slice of life EQG story. I’m satisfied with what I’ve written

I’m satisfied with what I’ve written and the stories I’ve constructed for MLP fanfiction.

About 6 years and almost 3 million words. It was a long, fruitful, and satisfying journey. My stories were never as popular as I wished them to be but I always came at writing with the mindset of it being something you do for yourself. I wrote to get these stories out of just my head and onto paper and I’m happy with that. I’m also happy that I never dropped anything and kept to a good schedule whenever I was publishing something. Something I’m sure my readers are happy about as well. I will admit though that I’m disappointed in the lack of attention my last fic has gotten since it’s the last thing I’ll be writing but oh well.

In general although there are plenty of stories I’m technically still reading and others I have on my read later list I’ve still lost a lot of passion and interest in reading MLP fanfiction over the past year. The reason for this is in that “technically”. This entire year I’ve seen only one or two new chapters published from stories I’m reading. And I ended up dropping a few others that couldn’t hold my interest. It’s unfortunate but it seems the fanfic scene is in worse condition than it already was when I started writing in the first place. Over 15 years ago I was really into Naruto fanfiction but the same thing happened where a bunch of my favorite stories stopped updating and I just stopped caring. And now here we are on Fimfiction where it’s now clear that the Austraeoh series will never be finished, Re:Harmony has been dead for years, who knows if Goldenwing will ever finish his trilogy, etc. etc. And whenever I see another crappy and lazy human/anon x pony romance fic made it makes me wish for death. 99% of the time the human tag is a blight and might as well be a big red sign saying “Do not read” when attached to a story. I had a lot of problems with the second half of Rekindled Embers but thank god it was actually finished, nothing I’ve read or seen published since starting that has drawn me in in the same way. Rambling Writer came out with a new fic recently that I’m sure is great but I had too many pet peeves and things that I didn’t care for as much in Urban Wilds that I haven’t bothered to give it a shot.

So yeah I’ve just had my passion for MLP fanfiction die down a bit. But even if things weren’t like that I’d still be done writing fanfiction after finishing Starlight Glimmer Regrets Her Mistakes because it’s simply time to move on.

One time in one of my stories I retconned an earth pony into a unicorn and stealthily went back to edit the chapter he was first mentioned as an earth pony and no one noticed. Or if they did no one said anything. Not like readers after the fact would be able to tell either.

There was supposed to be a short Pinkie Pie story written between the two Rainbow Dash stories where she gets the urge to bake the biggest and greatest cake ever and needs to go out finding all these special ingredients and she drags Twilight along with her but honestly I can’t remember why I didn’t write it. So I just partially folded it in to near the end of Rainbow Dash Around the World.

I don’t know what happened to Harlequin Red or Harlequin Black by the end of Starlight’s story. Or Wool Dye and the bad remnants of the Word of Glimmer cult. Originally a cultist was supposed to appear in every story but they only appeared in Applejack Gets Lost, Rarity Gets Enslaved, and Trixie Searches for Magic.

The fight against Harlequin Rainbow was going to involve him summoning a bunch of villains from other stories like Blizzard, Coil, Godfrey, and Heartless and making them play baseball against the Starlights. But I didn’t want to suddenly include a bunch of characters who only appeared in other stories and give them a faux-revival.

I’m not sure if Heartless is actually dead dead. She might have been reborn as a good pony.

Wish and Wild Strawberry later meet each other and face off against and destroy Harlequin White. That’s canon. Somehow Daylight Gleam gets involved in that as she always seems to.

The first villain of any of my stories, Night Storm, is also still alive and trying to repent for his actions.

And that’s about it.

Your works never got the big recognition I felt they deserved, but all that matters is that you feel satisfied and are comfortable calling it quits. Thanks for gracing this website with your literary talent, and I hope to see you around in comments (otherwise I'll be back to call you a big fat liar) and blogs and such

Hey! I read your work and sent you a message! Look, I'm very impressed with the effort you put into creating these stories. The truth is that getting 2000 words per day or week seems impossible to me and I'm sure the same is true for many. Even so, your work inspired me to write and continue publishing on this platform.

But is it necessary to be so hard on yourself?

Maybe the translator isn't working well, but he feels like all this effort didn't make you feel better and you didn't enjoy it. I'm probably wrong.

Writing is an art. That's hard. I think you are more of an artist than many in this fandom, which I appreciate and admire even if your true identity is a rock next to a tree.

It always sucks to see authors leave, but hey, I think it's awesome that you not only wrote everything that you wanted, but you wrote three million words. Props to you for doing that as not many can even get that high (I myself included lmao). To echo Seven's comment, you really did deserve more credit for what you wrote, and I hope that more people will eventually stumble upon your work and give each fic the support they all deserve.

The blog probably comes off as more negative on myself than I intended. Overall I'm happy with what I did and I'm also happy to hear that I inspired you to write as well.

Thank you! I'll still be here for sure, maybe now I'll get to some of the few remaining stories on my reading list.

Thank you! I hadn't written anything at all for close to 6 or 7 years before I started writing fanfiction again so I guess I had a lot of pent up energy in me.

To be fair you've written more in 6 years than a lot of people do in twice that. The quality and quantity of your writing is something to be proud of. Good luck on your journeys from here on.

There are precious few writers like you on this site, MagicS. Your stories have inspired me and many others, and will doubtless inspire many more to come as they stumble upon them. I know you’re not leaving the site, but I will still miss seeing your stories appear on the front page.

You’ve come a long ways, and now it’s time to rest, weary traveller. This long adventure has ended, but new ones lay just ahead! I hope you’ll enjoy them! :yay:

Good luck on all your future endeavors, and thanks for all the amazing stories! They may not have gotten the publicity you wanted, but each one was wonderful to read and experience. Take it easy!

Thank you for your service, comrade. Your name will remain in the Ponywriters Memorial.

Thank you for all the work you've done. I know that your work didn't get as super popular as some other stories in the fandom, but for the all the effort you put in you came out with high quality writing and a fantastic storyverse. The two stories of Rainbow travelling around the world are genuinely among the best things I've read here. Hopefully over time more people stumble upon your stories.

As for the fanfiction around here, yeah, I get that. It's simply not what it once was. Skirts has pretty much disappeared off the face of the earth as far as this fandom is concerned so Austraeoh will probably remain forever unfinished and I don't think it's going to get a summary closure like End of Ponies did. Goldenwing's trilogy yeah I though the last bit was supposed to start coming out pretty soon but it feels like it keeps getting moved so I don't know. As far as other news stuff I don't really seek out stuff on the front page or go elsewhere and I haven't visited EQD in years. I'm pretty much limited to the circles I follow here and what comes out.

That all being said I haven't hit a total dearth of content yet. My journey into your fics was grinding through a long-untouched Read Later stack and following rabbit holes from there and it hasn't really ended from there. And I get new stuff trickling in occasionally from those circles I follow here. There's still a lot of good stuff around even though the community isn't what it once was. My only limit now is real life holding me back from horsewords time. (Funny you mentioned Rambling Writer - I only just got into Hinterlands and Urban Wilds little over a month ago through one of aforementioned "circles" and really enjoyed them and I'm enjoying Death Valley, the new story.)

Thank you again for what you've contributed here.

I enjoyed every chapter.

Honestly, you've been a very big inspiration, MagicS. I think your series is the closest I've read to what would happen if the writers of MLP:FiM decide to make a long-running adventure show without season breaks while keeping up the same whimsy and intrigue that kept the original show fresh for many years to come. And interestingly enough, my favorite out of all this is the one fic that doesn't feature any of the show characters: Trail Blazer. Trail, Lustrous, and Steel will still be my favorite protagonists, solo or set, out of what you've done because you somehow got that MLP:FiM feeling with only original characters.

Which means you've had a very good foundation, and you've constructed some pretty awesome buildings.

The forced pun aside, I am going to miss your writing. My one regret is that I did not make it fast enough to finish the second Applejack fic before seeing this post. Fortunately, that means I still have much more of your art to go through.

Thanks for it, MagicS, and see you around!

You're going through the same phase I had back when I lost interest around 2017, but came back into the series with full colors within the last month. I think the thing I appreciate the most about your stories is that they are lengthy and fleshed out from the get-go. You take them one at a time and do leave any "unfinished" or on perpetual hiatus. And that's just the face value of your collection itself. I cannot live out the glory days, but this place is special to me. Good luck, and have fun!

I may put out a list of leftover story ideas.

You're welcome!

Thank you, it was a treat seeing you read through my stories and getting to see your comments! I'll certainly still be reading more fanfiction and hopefully I'll find a few more great stories to enjoy.

Thank you!

Since A War and Magical Curiosity were two big favorites of mine, and really got me passionate to write stories of my own, I certainly have to thank you for doing all this. I'm glad you liked Trail Blazer so much, I definitely consider that a pretty special story, those three are pretty close to my heart. And I'm looking forward to when you get through the rest of my stories now too.

Thank you! And we'll see, but I might be writing something besides MLP stuff in the future.
